Xiaomi AirDots pro 2 differences

Review of the next wireless hit from Xiaomi. headphones Air 2 (AirDots Pro 2)with noise cancelling

The first thing that catches your eye when you hold the headphones in your hands is the packaging. It is of high quality, made of thick cardboard, with a bright image of the headphones themselves and the model name.

xiaomi, airdots, differences

Speaking of the name, this time Xiaomi didn’t make any complicated names (like our previous Mi True Wireless Earphones, which we reviewed on our YouTube Channel) and settled for a fairly succinct name. Air 2. Easier to pick up, really better remembered. Case and the headphones themselves are very reminiscent of their Apple counterparts. Case with rounded edges, but the cover is flat. The body is matte, made of white plastic. Inside the case, the headphones sit quite deep, getting them out is not the most comfortable thing to do, and this is probably the most tangible disadvantage at the moment. it is necessary to make an effort, so that the earphone is in your hand, as if there is not a mechanism, which will push it out by pressing it. But over time you get used to it.Each earphone weighs 4.5g, they are quite light but still feel in your ears. This is a plus. there will be no uncertainty when wearing. The package is standard. a box, cable USB-C, charging case, the headphones themselves and a brief manual in Chinese. There is a charge indicator on the case, which flashes red when you plug it in. On the right side of the case is a power button. In the announcement of the company Xiaomi said that the headphones charge in 1 hour, in fact I have charged even slightly faster. After about 35 minutes the light turned white.

Reflashing

Out of the box the headphones sound mediocre. To make them sound normal you need to reflash:

  • Go to the Bluetooth settings and cancel the pairing with the phone
  • If you already have a program from Xiaomi called Mi, then you need to uninstall it
  • Download the application, which is called Mi A2 Lite version 2.7.1
  • Install this program, open it, it’s in Chinese. Usually press all the blue buttons, give all the resolutions
  • Then we need to add our new device, close-open the case and press the button until you get a red light, initially will be flashing, and then will appear red and white light. this is the reflash mode, it says upgrade.
  • The case should be charged, press Upgrade and update will begin.
  • Do not close the lid when flashing, they should connect themselves after the upgrade

Wireless TWS headphones Xiaomi Redmi AirDots 2: what people choose?

That Xiaomi top for its money, in principle, everyone agrees. And it does not matter what exactly it’s about. Today we will talk about the next wireless TWS headphones from this, not dare I say it, people’s brand. And their name is Redmi AirDots 2. Really interesting ears but take the maximalism out of it. Only for their price.

Features

  • Bluetooth: v5
  • Codecs: SBC
  • Emitters: dynamic 7.2mm.
  • Frequency range: 20 Hz. 20 kHz
  • Battery life: 4 h.
  • Capacity earpiece: 43 mAh
  • Case capacity: 300 mAh
  • Protection: IPX4
  • Weight of the headphone: 3.6 г
  • Weight of the case: 26 g

Packaging and package

The packaging here is beautiful, of course, but alas, it does not stand up to the brutality of the postal employees. Comes crumpled everywhere.

Inside lies a manual and a set of three pairs of silicone ear cushions. The cable, according to Apple’s covenants, should be bought separately.

Design/Ergonomics

The dimensions of the case is small. Made of brushed plastic and has a minimal set of functional elements.

On the back is a MicroUSB port, and in front is a barely visible LED. Which lights up only when charging. But the loop is nice and the magnets are good.

Inside the case hides a 300 mAh battery that can charge the headphones 3 times and thus extend your music listening time to as much as 12 hours. Since on a single charge, the model runs for about 4 hours.

The cups are exactly as they were on previous models. With the same mechanical button. Well, on the one hand. it’s some kind of Stone Age, but on the other hand. no accidental presses and it’s very convenient, for example, when listening to audiobooks. When the accidental operation of the sensor can rewind the story for an incomprehensible number of chapters. And then look up the contents.

But Xiaomi wouldn’t be themselves if they didn’t cut something. So we have exactly two functions: one press to pause and two to bring up the assistant. Genius! How are we without an assistant?? And if seriously, the volume control, to hell with it, but switching tracks is really necessary. Of course, already invented crutches, but this, in my opinion, is not serious.

On the plus side, there’s a rather large speaker inside for 7.2mm. and a full-size audio guide with standard-sized attachments. Ah yes, they say it’s also water resistant IPX4, but I can’t find any confirmation of this information anywhere.

Concerning codecs we have only the most basic SBC with normal delays. Naturally, left and right can work separately. I will suggest you to get to know how the microphone works on your own. I’ll put in an excerpt from the recording.

In the ears the model sits very well. Good soundproofing and comfortable ergonomics. Definitely a score here.

Measuring

According to measurements we have a standard 125 msec pulse., The usual clean waterfall and THD is about 2% in peaks. Everything is OK here.

And the AFR shows the total superiority of the bass over the rest of the range. 17 decibels is no joke at all. Middle frequencies sagged a little, about 5 dB., Then we see a rise in intelligibility, which was lacking in Haylou, and a small peak at 8 kHz., To emphasize the highs and make a small Accent on detail. By virtue of the codec available here, it was possible to make a much bigger Accent on the parts. SBC usually works as a blur filter, blurring the sound and hiding the nuances.

In terms of sound, Redmi AirDots 2 veils of expensive sound does not. Yes, it sounds fine, without any outright flaws. But to say that they can be compared to something, at least at twice the price would be naive. Well, for my money, it’s naturally a cake.

I remained impressed with the audiobooks on these headphones. As the male voice takes on a solid amount of power and depth. And the highlighting on the top just a little bit embellishes the voice with sparkle. Exactly the same behavior for some rarified low and medium tempo recordings. Something fast is starting to blur into mush. I don’t like the strain on them at all. But blues-rock, folk and uncomplicated jazz. went with a bang.

The scene here is logical, the timbres are recognizable, and the overall pitch is cast, with a slope into the dark. That is, with a predominance of low frequencies. Well, since we did not experiment with high, the model is suitable for very many unpretentious music lovers. Which is about 99% of all music lovers.

Conclusions

Bottom line, Xiaomi has once again rolled out an undeniable hit for its money. True, trimmed to the edge. I didn’t like the lack of case charge indication, MicroUSB plug, pretty average volume for today, no cable included and only the most basic SBC codec. The sound here, however, is the usual massive, with a lot of bass and a little emphasis on the tops. The middle, contrary to popular belief, not at all failed. Especially compared to the other accents available here. So, the voice and other acoustic instruments sound, for its price, very natural. And finally, let me clarify, these ears can really listen, even if you are spoiled with high quality sound audiophile. Of course, this penny saving on small things outrages me, but maybe it was the only way to achieve such a low price tag. All in all, yes, they are good ears.

Wireless headphones Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2 or Mi Air 2. fire! Review by Wellfix

We are pleased to present to your attention a loud novelty of autumn headphones Xiaomi Mi Air 2 or AirDots Pro 2. The company is positioning this product as a budget version of Airpods, but with quality materials and high quality build.

The package includes:

It is worth noting that the silicone ear cushions are no longer supplied, as the brand has updated the shape of the headphones. Whereas they used to be earplugs, now they’re earmuffs. The headphones do not fit snugly to the ear, so you can hear everything that’s going on around you. This degrades sound quality but provides security. The similar structure of the device is less versatile, but compared to the vacuum, many will simply be uncomfortable to wear them. The design is remotely similar to Airpods and sits in your ears much the same way.

Thanks to the built-in 14.2 mm speakers, provides clear sound with crisp detail. Have support for the new audio codec LHDC, which serves to reduce delays in sound signals during wireless transmission. With this, the sound delay to the conversational videos is almost invisible, but such a codec is supported only on the Android OS.

On the foot of each of the headphones are touch-sensitive control buttons, frankly, they take a little getting used to, at first it will be difficult to hit them. The controls are as follows:

  • double tap on the right earpiece can start and stop the track, or take and end a call.
  • A double there on the left earpiece brings up the voice assistant.

The charging case has also undergone minor changes:

It is made of white matte plastic. Unfortunately, the case is prone to scratches and scuffs. On the front of the accessory is a LED that shows the charging level. If the light starts flashing, then the charge is no more than 15% and the case should be put on charge. On the side, as in the previous version, there is a single function button, which synchronizes the device and resets. There is a Type-C socket for charging at the bottom of the housing.

The headphones are equipped with infrared sensor, which is responsible for detecting the device in the ear: if you are listening to music and you took out one of the headphones, the track will stop playing automatically. Also, you can use only one earphone, to listen to music. Simply tap on the device for further playback. On the top edge of the headphone is a microphone with Electronic Noise Cancellation.

The WellFix team took part in the noise-canceling tests and we can say with confidence that the device effectively copes with its task: the caller hears the voice clearly and without external interference. Note that the main receiving microphone is on the bottom of the headphone’s foot, just like in the previous generation. The charging contacts are located in the same place.

Specifications

Synchronization with your smartphone is done in three steps:

  • To start, you need to open the case and press the function button for a few seconds until the light starts flashing;
  • In the Bluetooth settings, you should find the new Mi True Wirelell Earphones 2. This process takes 10 seconds.
  • The headphones will start pairing automatically during each subsequent connection.

If you own a smartphone with Android, now when you open the headphone case a window pops up with information about the charge of the headphones and the case.

WellFix opinion

The manufacturer guarantees that a full charge of the battery will be enough for 4 hours of work. Additionally from the case you can charge them 2 more.5 times. It turns out that, in general, the headphones can play music for 14 hours.

However, the battery life can vary depending on external influences, for example: During the battery test the device was enough for almost 3 hours of listening at maximum volume. Also, it should be noted that the headphones are fully charged from the case for just 1 hour, at the same time, 10 minute charging allows you to enjoy music for an additional 70 minutes.

  • Personally, I, your host, liked wearing headphones. They fit well and hardly feel inside. But it’s all individual.
  • The sound is decent and rich with well defined bass.
  • Quick and easy pairing without breaking.
  • For Android users. The presence of the application with control settings and the ability to update the firmware. Also, support LHDC.

If you liked the headphones Xiaomi Mi Air 2, you can buy them in any of our stores, St. Petersburg (Ekaterinburg) or Chelyabinsk (CHEL), or arrange delivery anywhere in Russia.

Inexpensive TWS headphones Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2 SE, aka Air2 SE

The latest at the moment model of inexpensive TWS inlays from Xiaomi, a simplified version of the Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2. Despite their popularity, for some reason there is no review of these headphones on OSRC yet (or I haven’t found it)?), so I’m in a hurry to fill this annoying gap. So, what to expect from the new earmolds from the famous manufacturer? Let’s try to figure it out.

Let me tell you two things: first, all sorts of TWS-cups I had an entire collection, at least a dozen, among which were the headphones Xiaomi‘s previous generations, and expensive Sony with active noise modulation, and all sorts of different popular and not very “budget”. On the other hand I always preferred in-ear headphones to Airpods-style earbuds, so the heroes of this review were the first TWS in-ear headphones for me. But it so happened that I have got another earphones of this type even before I wrote the review, so I will try to compare them with earphones from another manufacturer as well, and not only with “earplugs”.

I will not break the glorious tradition and start with the packaging and the package. There is nothing to report about. the package design is well known to anyone who has ever bought a headset from Xiaomi, inside everything is also quite predictable.

Packaging is quite decent and neat, but, of course, infinitely far from any premium.

The package is also very unpretentious. the headphones themselves, the box and the wire Type-C, and all this traditional for Xiaomi white.

Now about what the manufacturer promises us:

Xaiomi AirDots Pro 2 SE
Bluetooth version 5.0
Microphones Two in each earphone
Resistance 32 ohms (whatever that means)
Proximity Sensor there is
Operating Time Up to 5 hours
Total battery life including the battery box Up to 20 hours
Battery capacity 410 mAh
Codec support SBC and AAC
Transmitter diameter 14.2 mm.
Animation When connecting to Xiaomi smartphones (some)

As you can see, there’s nothing outstanding, except that the array of four microphones, promising good sound quality, and an impressive diameter dynamic radiator. Well, and a run time of 5 hours is pretty good.

The appearance of headphones and the box is quite in the spirit of Xiaomi. we can probably already say so and not to mention that this spirit is more or less solid at Apple. The design is laconic, no frills, the color is only white. just as we like it, yes? But the size of the “foot”, of course, somewhat shocking in comparison with most other earmolds it is just huge and sticking out of the ear. Personally, I do not mind the look, but sticking out of the ear log can not but affect the ergonomics, and it does affect it, but we will talk about this below.

On the “log” you can see the dedicated area for the touch control taps, two holes microphones (one near the tap zone, the second on the bottom end) and contacts for charging. The head part of each earphone is very similar to that of Airpods, which, however, is typical of almost all earmolds on the market.

LED indicator is present, it is hidden under the surface of the case at the bottom of the “leg” and in the off state its presence does not show.

In various reviews on youtube and other places about these headphones the same legend is repeated over and over again. that their LEDs blink during playback. In fact, reviewers were just not very attentive: the LEDs do not blink if the headphones are placed in the ear (triggered proximity sensor). That is, as long as you have them in your ears, you won’t look like an etsilop with something glowing and flashing on his head.

But if you take them out of your ears and stare at them trying to understand if the LEDs are blinking. that’s when they’ll upset you.

The case looks good, is made of quite nice plastic and, overall, is relatively small and ergonomic. Not that I’ve never seen smaller and more comfortable cases, but this one is not an enemy of s and is devoid of any obvious ergonomic flaws. The lid doesn’t dangle, magnets hold it and the headphones inside quite firmly, the charging port is Type-C, there are no buttons in the box, and the LED is only one and, as usual, not very informative. if when you open it just lights up, the charge is “enough”, if it flashes. you need to charge the battery. On the underside of the box is the inscription from which you can conclude among other things that it charges itself with a current up to 1A, and the headphones inside it with 0.2А.

The box is easy to open with one hand, you can also take out the headphones without using the other hand, although it is not very convenient.

If you turn the box upside down and shake it a little, the headphones do not fall out of it, well done.

All in all, the box is average in almost everything. both in size and convenience, and even the battery capacity in it. The only thing that makes it stand out is the ability to tell your smartphone about the charge of its battery, but there are some nuances.

The control is touch sensitive, as far as I can tell. with a capacitive sensor, not an accelerometer, so the ears respond to touch, not a tap. In itself it is simple. you can start or stop the playback, accept or reject a call, run the voice assistant. Adjust the volume with the headphones themselves, at least in the “out of the box” condition, it is not possible.

Control, in general, reliable, glitches I have not noticed, it works steadily, false positives does not bother.

The headphones can start playing when you put them in your ear and stop when you take them out. Works pretty reliably. By the way, the sensor is not infrared as usual but capacitive, but it has not much effect, except that it allows using foam ear cushions, keeping the functionality of the sensor, which infrared would not work.

The headphones are paired with smartphones without any unnecessary dancing, and being paired, they are connected to the phone almost instantly when you open the lid of the box. Naturally, if your smartphone supports AAC and this support is enabled. will connect using this protocol.

Works great one at a time, switching independently from right to left and back. For me this feature is important, because I often use TWS headphones just one at a time for dubbing videos, audiobooks, podcasts and the like.

I did not notice any interruption of connection during the whole time of use, and even held an impromptu range test: in the woods I managed to get 50-60 meters away from the smartphone before the headphones lost contact with it. But that’s assuming that there are no obstacles between the earpiece and the phone. But even your own head can serve as such and reduce the range to the usual 10-15 meters, which is also, in general, not bad at all. About loss of connection if, say, to move the smartphone in another. or just try to run, is out of the question. In short, all is well with the connection.

To use these headphones with two devices at once (a smartphone and a laptop), I failed, when paired with the second they tend to forget the first and vice versa.

To be honest, I was not impressed at all, but I didn’t expect much from the earmolds. There is practically no bass, and not much else. But I wasn’t going to listen to music with the earmolds, I was more disappointed with the other thing: there is no volume reserve and it was the reason of my refusal to use them in the end. In fact, in more or less noisy place I had already to strain my ear to hear something. But maybe with other smartphones the situation will be different, although I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the lack of volume from the users of these earmuffs.

If you compare the sound with the other TWS ears, these ones take the last place in my collection, with a large margin. It is clear, that the sound is beyond compare with other TWS-heads (pun intended)!) any earphones, but the thing is that the reviewed headphones can not compare in this respect and other earphones I have. Tronsmart Onyx Ace, which sound louder and much better in everything (there is even some bass, which is amazing for earphones).

As for audio lag, I do not feel it at all when watching videos, and I do not play games, sorry, so I can not say anything about how they behave in PUBG. But in general, in my opinion, these headphones connect to your smartphone individually each, not through a “master”, so delays should be minimal in any case.

Here I have two pieces of news, one good and one not so good. I will start with the good news. the microphones were quite good and in most cases AirDots 2 SE will serve you as a headset and will not embarrass your callers because they can barely hear you (as often happens with other TWS-headphones). The bad news is that for some reason only the left earphone has all these qualities, and the right one is twice or three times quieter. God knows what it is and why, but I’m not the only one who has that kind of thing, other owners have also complained about it (maybe it’s just a fault and the microphone input was accidentally blocked during assembly). In general, to talk on the phone, you have to make sure that the left earpiece is not in the box, but in your ear. And the claimed two microphones do not show any miracles of noise cancellation in the style of Airpods, and wind or loud noise can completely drown out your voice. All in all, the mics are okay, but no more than that. Roughly matching the Tronsmart Onyx Ace, QCY T5, Xiaomi AirDots Pro and Tronsmart Onyx Neo mics, and much better than the awful Redmi AirDots, Haylou GT1, Xiaomi AirDots and the like.

Earmolds are earmolds and all fit in your ears more or less equally. But there is a “but”. they tend to fall out of my ears, even if you do not make sudden movements. As it turned out later, their headsets are slightly smaller than those of the same Tronsmart Onyx Ace, and apparently. That small difference is enough to keep them out of my ears. And this, in fact, was the second reason why I gave them up.

But it can not be said that I did not try to solve this problem. I tried and put on different ear cushions. both foam and silicone from AirDots. The good news is that even with the ear cushions they still fit in the case and charge, but the bad news is that it didn’t help me one bit and they kept falling out. Well, I found some attachments that help me get them right. the sound is much better, the volume is big enough, they stop dropping out, and it seems like happiness is near but with the attachments they don’t fit in the case.

While reading all this, keep in mind that ears differ from each other, and just because they don’t feel right in mine doesn’t mean they’ll be as stubborn in yours. I ended up giving the headphones to my wife, and in her much tinier ears they fit securely and in no hurry to slip out. Perhaps the role here plays not only the size of the head units headphones, but log-like “leg” AirDots 2 SE, which simply outweighs and forces the headphone out of your ear.

And as promised, about the ergonomics of the “logs”. yes, they stick out too much and interfere with wearing a hat, and make the earpiece hurt your ear, if you try to lie with your ear on the pillow and listen to something at night. Other, more compact, earmuffs and “earplugs” do not afford this.

Good, even great. Claimed five hours on they, on the whole, they play out. True, for me it is not too essential, because I, as already mentioned, I use headphones, mostly one by one, and I can at least every half an hour change their places.

Since these are modern TWS headphones from Xiaomi, when you connect them to the phones of this manufacturer should appear animation in the style of Airpods on iPhones, but unfortunately, with many firmware this does not happen. I personally only saw this animation on MIUI 11.0.4. from Xiaomi.eu. It appears after a few seconds when opening the lid, looks nice.

However, the rest have a chance to see the animation. in the market you can download a special application VR AirDots, which will show it. And it generally works, and you can even see the charge of each of the headphones and separately the box, but all is not as smooth and seamless as in the case of the built-in animation in the OS. I eventually tore down this program, a little spoiled. And in general, it seems to me, it is much more convenient when the box is able to show the battery level yourself, the only thing that is needed for this is a few LEDs (in this sense wonderful box Onyx Ace).

The firmware app and reflashing

The branded application to control these ears exists but it is all Chinese and I failed to cope with it. In addition, as far as I understand the new firmware is not available and the application is not very useful either. It seems to be possible to reassign the control taps, but I have not succeeded, I repent.

Headphones, in general, not bad, are inexpensive and have some signs of “premium”. dual microphones, animation on compatible smartphones with the box charge display, proximity sensors. But personally I did not like it because of the lack of volume and, most importantly, because of the stubborn desire to leave my ears on their own. I liked the Tronsmart Onyx Ace a little later, and in many ways I liked them much better.

Review of TWS in-ear headphones Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2

Some time ago I did a review of TWS headphones from Xiaomi, called Redmi AirDots. They are quite generic wireless split earbuds, which are quite simple and not expensive at all, but they sound good.

In the Комментарии и мнения владельцев on the review of Redmi AirDots I was asked to look at another type of headphones from Xiaomi. The Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2, which are also TWS (i.e. truly wireless), but not earbuds, but earmuffs.

Previous version. Xiaomi AirDots Pro. I came across on Ali, but I’m not particularly fond of the “nails sticking out of my ear” format, and besides, they were also earplugs, so I wasn’t interested and didn’t order.

Xiaomi AirDots Pro

However, looked at what are the Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2. and realized that this is a slightly different type of headphone, because in this case it is the earmolds, not the earplugs. A lot of people don’t like earplugs. they are much better suited for earmolds. Well, I thought that this model is quite possible to study.

Specifications

Type: earphones, dynamic Speaker: 14.2 mm Profiles: HFP, A2DP, HSP, AVRCP Frequency range: 20-20 000 Hz Codecs: SBC, AAC, LDHC Bluetooth: 5.0 use as a headset: Yes Listening Time: up to 4 hours Impedance: 32 Ohms Noise reduction: ENC Battery life in the case: up to 14 hours Charging port: Type-C Charging case carrying case: Plastic Weight: 4.5g (one earphone), 52g (headphones with case) Prices: 3500 on Aliexpress, 4-5.5 thousand on Yandex.Marketplace”

Note that there is no aptX support, but there is support for AAC and the currently highest quality LHDC codec, which allows you to transmit a signal up to 900 kbps. However, I note that although Android supports this codec at the system level, in reality at the moment only Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G and Huawei smartphones that have HWA codec, based on LHDC. As it turns out, these headphones work with HWA. Other smartphones will connect to these headphones via AAC.

Packaging similar to that of Redmi AirDots. Not the most, mind you, gift-worthy.

Inside: headphones, charging case, USB charging cable. Type-C, instructions in Chinese.

The headphones in the case are magnetized to the pins where the power is applied. The charging case closes with a magnet cover. The case has a pairing button on the right side, there is an LED on the front of the case that shows the status of the case and the headphones (charged, charged, connected, connected in pairing mode).

It’s easy to see that their shape and look is almost exactly the same as the Apple Airpods 2, which are about three times as expensive.

To pair the headphones with the playback device on the charging case, you need to press the button and hold it for three seconds. The LED flashes white: this is a sign that the headphones are in pairing mode.

However, the Xiaomi smartphone itself detects these headphones, even when they are not in pairing mode, and offers to connect them (but you still have to press a button to connect them later).

The headphones are connected to Xiaomi smartphones via the AAC codec. In doing so, the smartphone very effectively shows the battery charge of each headphone and case.

To other smartphones, the headphones are connected as a normal BT device, and the display of the charge level in the status bar depends on the brand of smartphone.

These headphones connected to the Huawei P30 Pro using Huawei’s proprietary HWA codec (it’s just based on the LDHC codec).

To other smartphones, including the iPhone, the headphones connected via AAC.

Already paired with a smartphone, the headphones automatically connect when you take them out of the charging case.

the headphones sit well in your ears: unlike earplugs you don’t notice them, they are so unobtrusive. At the beginning it seems that they are not very secure and can fall out, but this impression is deceptive: as hard as I tried, I could not get them to fall out of the ear.

The headphones are controlled by touching the outer surface of the “legs.

Double tap on either earpiece. answer the phone. Double tap on the left earpiece. Voice Assistant call. double tap on the right earphone. Play/pause. (If only the left earphone is used, it has a double tap. play/pause.) As soon as one of the earphones is out of the ear. automatically pauses, which is actually very convenient (this is also copied from the Airpods, there is the same infrared sensor).

Now for the sound quality. With Huawei smartphone with HWA codec quality is very good: clean and detailed highs and mids, good bass, which is somehow not much you expect to hear in headphones of this type. The maximum volume was not bad, but not to say outstanding.

Listened to AAC sound from a OnePlus 7T smartphone. The details are of course worse than those of HWA, but nevertheless the quality is decent and even some bass is audible. However, the maximum volume seemed to me insufficient for noisy environment: in a quiet environment to listen quite comfortably, but, for example, somewhere in the subway or on a noisy street will be heard bad.

With the Xiaomi smartphone (Mi Note 10) the sound level was already noticeably higher (even a little louder than the Huawei). When the region “India” is set (we remember that there is such a smartphone tiphack for these smartphones).

Also checked how these headphones sound with the sixth iPhone (lying in my possession for tests). No problem with the connection, AAC played very well: the sound is clear and detailed and the maximum volume was almost the same as the Xiaomi.

I tested the headset mode. Very good here too: I heard the callers perfectly, and I was heard very well too. The ENC-Free in Noisy technology is used in conversation here. Works very well, when talking on a noisy street, my callers could make out my words.

Listening time is claimed to be up to 4 hours. Well, exactly up to 4 hours I did not get them in the test, it was about 3 hours and 35 minutes. But also not bad. From zero to 100% the headphones charge in about an hour.

What are my impressions? Very good impressions. Comfortable, good sound quality on AAC, excellent on HWA, also sounds very good with iPhone.

The only complaint: by AAC with some smartphones (except Xiaomi and iPhone) maximum volume. Obviously not enough for noisy environments.

Well also there is no sound level adjustment from the headphones themselves. is important for some users.

Accessories

In the package, as in the previous version put the headphones, charging case, USB Type-C cable (about 30cm) and instructions in Chinese. When the global version appears, then the instruction will be in English, but it may appear in Russian.

Appearance

The “S” at the end of the name usually indicates that the device was redesigned from the inside, not from the outside. Compared to the Mi Air 2, the case is the same. That is chopped edges on the top and bottom and rounded on the sides. The reset button is still there. On the front of the case there is an LED indicator that shows the charge level. The indicator light is two colors: white and red. Just above the indicator, there is a small indentation for easy opening of the case. On the bottom of the case is a USB Type-C. And on the back of the case is a “Lightning” icon, which means that these headphones support wireless charging.

The case is made of matte plastic. It almost does not show scratches like on glossy. But the headphones are already covered in glossy plastic, but I think there’s nothing wrong with it. Headphones held securely by magnets, flipping open the case, the headphones will not fall out.

Connecting the headphones to your smartphone

The headphones are independent of each other, so they connect to your smartphone at the same time. This shortens the connection time and minimizes the sound delay. To connect, you need to open the case and press the button until the indicator blinks.

In the meantime, your smartphone must have Bluetooth turned on. Next, you need to select the headphones and click on “Start Pairing”.

In the future, the connection between the headphones and the smartphone will be automatic. Cannot connect to more than one device at the same time. If your computer has Bluetooth, you can also connect to your PC (computer).

Features and capabilities of headphones

The headphones are controlled by double tapping on the right or left earpiece. The buttons are touch-sensitive, so you do not have to apply pressure. The left one is for calling the voice assistant, and the right one is for stopping/playing music. Through the application it is possible to change the function call assignment.

Microphone

The microphone is very surprising because it picks up your voice even in the windiest weather and plus it removes noise. The microphone on this headphone was compared to the Airpods Pro microphone and the result was almost identical. Remember that the Airpods Pro costs many times more.

The headphones work on Bluetooth version 5.0 with AAC, SBC and LHDC codecs, which allows for minimal delay in sound and quality sound. Compared to the previous version, the sound is louder. Bass and treble improved, but at near maximum volume, the tops eat up the mids a bit, so I suggest listening at 80% volume.

Autonomy

The battery increased not only in the headphones, but also in the case. The headphones now live for about 5 hours and with the case can last a whole day, that is 24 hours.

Advantages

  • Autonomy
  • Microphone
  • Quality of case and headphones
  • The shape of the earphones does not isolate from the environment
  • Pretty comfortable ergonomics conducive to extended wear
  • Pretty secure fit in the ear
  • High quality speech quality in both directions in headset mode
  • Adequate active noise reduction (only when talking and not when listening to music)
  • Comfortable pressure control, works even with gloves
  • Very good value for money

Disadvantages

  • Noise reduction does not work when listening to a track
  • With silicone attachments does not fit in the case
  • No noise isolation
  • Software in Chinese
  • No Multipoint (cannot connect to several devices at the same time)

The headphones pleasantly surprised by their price and quality. If you compare AirDots Pro 2S with the previous version, the changes are really there. Increased autonomy both in the headphones and in the case. Changed the technology to connect to the phone. There is also wireless charging. The only thing that confused me a bit was the design of the headphones, as I think they are a bit big.

If these headphones do not fit the price range, then I advise you to buy a budget version of headphones from Xiaomi:

Review of the Xiaomi Air 2 TWS headphones (Mi AirDots pro 2)

In September of last year, the Xiaomi Air 2 TWS headphones with Bluetooth 5 support were introduced.0, LDHC codec and improved battery life. Progress compared to the first generation is significant. It is not clear why they changed the naming system of the line. the first model was called AirDots Pro, considered simply Air 2. I assume this was the result of some legal conflicts over the consonance of the name with Apple’s Airpods Pro.

It is interesting that the two companies are moving in different directions. if the Apple Airpods are earbuds, then the Airpods Pro is an in-ear channel headphone. The first model Xiaomi was opposite channel, and the second, which we are reviewing. the earmuffs.

Package Contents

The packaging is inexpensive, not thick cardboard, a little crumpled in transit. Inside on a cardboard backing fastened with tape both headphones and a charging case, there is also a cable for charging Type-C, a manual in Chinese.

Appearance and Features

The storage/carrying and charging case is made of brushed white plastic, measures 25 x 49 x 49 mm (60 cm³) and is 20% bulkier than the Apple Airpods case (50 cm³). On the bottom edge is the Type C connector, on the right side is a pairing button, on the front is a multifunctional indicator. The lid is held firmly by a magnet, the earpods themselves in their sockets are also attracted to the charging jacks by magnets

The headphone shape is very similar to Apple’s. The geometry of the “tab” is almost completely copied. Changed location and shape of speaker grids and infrared sensor. The “foot” of each earphone has an oval shape in the cut, which is different from the apple version. On top of each leg is a hole in the microphone, responsible for noise cancellation during calls. From below there is a speaking microphone and contacts for charging. The designations L and R are hardly visible, but it is not critical, because you can not insert the left earphone into the right ear (and vice versa). ))

Technical Specifications

Type: earphones, Speaker: 14.2 mm, dynamic composite diaphragm and dynamic driver Profiles: HFP, A2DP, HSP, AVRCP Frequency range: 20-20 000 Hz Codecs: SBC, AAC, LDHC Bluetooth: 5.0 headset use: Yes Listening Time: up to 4 hours Impedance: 32 ohms Noise reduction: ENC, only during calls Battery life in the case: up to 14 hours Charging connector: Type-C Waterproof: IPX4 Charging case: Plastic Weight: 4.5g (single earphone), 52g (earphones with case)

Connecting to sound sources

Connection is simple. you just need to press the button on the case for a few seconds. and the indicator on the case will blink, showing that the headphones are ready for pairing. It remained to find and select the name of the headphones in the list of Bluetooth devices on the sound source, and then finally confirm the pairing by pressing the button on the case.

After pairing, the headphones automatically connect after opening the cover and removing from the case.

Pairing tested on the Xiaomi Mi9, Android TV box and PC.

Connects by default on the smartphone using the AAC codec, you can manually switch to the SBC codec. High-quality LHDC codec (900 kbps) is available only on Huawei smartphones and some older Xiaomi models for now. With the advent of new firmware we can expect the appearance of LHDC codec in other models Xiaomi.

Control and firmware

The headphones are controlled by double taps on the left or right earphone. By default the left earpiece is set to call the voice assistant, the right earpiece is set to pause/playback. On the packaging box is printed QR-code, which can be used to install on your smartphone Mi Ai program that allows you to reassign the functions of taps. The choice is small, there are two more functions. “next track” and “previous track”. The program is in Chinese, but the trial and error method has not been cancelled yet.

If the headphones are installed outdated firmware, the same program itself will offer to update. Detailed instructions are not given, those who want to find them on a well-known forum in the profile thread.

If you remove at least one earphone from the ear. playback is paused, and continues when you return the earphone in place. Infra-red sensors are responsible for this.

Sound quality

It should be noted that the headphones came to me with the old firmware. The sound was quite quiet, and the low frequencies “wheezed”. The firmware was updated and these flaws have been eliminated. A miracle did not happen, the maximum volume rose by 20-30 percent, but the bass stopped upsetting.

Very brief and subjective about the playback of music.

The sound of Xiaomi Air 2 was evaluated both separately and in comparison with Bluedio Hi TWS headphones, QCY T1 Pro and wired (Type-C) Xiaomi ANC.

I used the usual for me test collection of tracks: Monument. Röyksopp Cloudspotting. Orsen Tout est bleu. Jean Michel Jarre Speed King. Deep Purple Jazz Music (De Capo Edit). De-Phazz STÜBAphilharmonie With.Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2 Op.18. Valentina Lisitsa

Xiaomi Air 2 is definitely not for club music. low frequencies are predictably cut, so that the “rocking” rhythm looks very pale. Here the channel “earplugs” QCY and Bluedio clearly win, the sound of Air 2 is similar to the wired channel Xiaomi. This is not to say that there are no basses at all, just that they sound polite and uninviting.

In all other genres the Air 2 has a definite advantage:

The faithful and undisturbed transmission of the midrange and voice in the electronics of Jarre, the distinctness of the background sounds. Deep Purple’s vocal juiciness and the brightness of the guitars and keyboards. The discernibility of all De-Phazz instruments. And finally. the depth, volume, and detail of Rachmaninoff’s Second Concerto, “to the point of shivering”.

Once again. this is a subjective opinion, and the colorful phrases please disregard.

In the end I liked the sound of the headphones very much. Of course, they won’t do for fans of rocking bass.к. EQ can raise the lower frequencies by just a few decibels without any annoying artifacts. In other musical genres the sound is extremely decent.

Nuances of Use

The duration of operation on one charge is about 4 hours of listening at 75-80% of maximum volume. The charging case allows 2.5 more times to charge the headphones, so that even on the farthest flight without music you will not be left. Although, I think on the plane will be strongly mixed with the hum of the engines and there is a preference for channel headphones or over-ear.

Regarding dropped connections and stuttering. There’s Bluetooth 5.0 makes a difference. compared to QCY T1 Pro this trouble is much less. On a walkway with mercury lights installed, where the QCY stuttered several times a minute, the Air 2 never lost the connection. It was a little harder near the streetcar line while the streetcar was passing, but even here the Air 2 only interrupted once for a fraction of a second, and the QCY just went crazy.

On the reliability of the placement in the ears. I won’t say that the headphones fit tightly and confidently in my earshells. You have to correct when turning and tilting your head sharply. Frustrated by this fact, I asked my home and some coworkers to test the fit of the headphones. It turned out that I was the only one with the problem. all who took part in the impromptu study headphones held tightly and securely.

Voice communication. Everything is fine here, ENC noise cancellation during a conversation on the street really works, hearing both the interlocutor and the interlocutor is excellent.

Comparison of first and second generation Redmi AirDots headphones.

New in our store! Budget wireless headphones Xaomi Redmi AirDots 2. Another model in the line of TWS-headsets from Redmi brand was introduced quite recently, but it has already appeared in our store. The updated, second generation of one of the most popular wireless headphones today in the review of GeekUfa store. To illustrate the improvements we will compare the new Redmi AirDots 2 with the already existing first-generation Redmi AirDots.

First of all, according to tradition, let’s look at the appearance of the headphones. The first version comes in a blue and white box, the AirDots 2 in a red and white box. The package is the same for wireless headphones: headphones in a carrying case, a pair of interchangeable ear pads and instructions. The appearance, namely the design of headphones Redmi is the same: oval case made of matte black plastic and earplugs with an oval area on which the mechanical control buttons. Black coloring of the case is a good solution, as dirt and small scratches are not visible, do not spoil the appearance of the accessory. The size of the ear-case is not big so it can easily fit in your On the cover is the brand logo, inside there are reliable magnetic fasteners that do not allow the headphones to fall out of the grooves, the cover also closes tightly with magnetic fasteners. The fit in your ears tight due to silicone ear cushions. Vacuum headphones are not only comfortable, but also provide additional noise reduction.

If the Xiaomi wireless headphones are not different in design, then the differences lie inside? Yes and no, let’s sort it out. For sound in the Redmi AirDots responsible speakers, 7.2 mm diameter the same as the Redmi AirDots 2. Battery life is also the same 4 hours of work, which is extended to 12 with the charging case. In just 15 minutes in the case, the headphones will charge to last another hour, and it takes no more than a couple of hours to fully charge the headphones. The case itself charges via micro USB connector on the body, from the mains. There is no charging cable included. Connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth 5.0 and here begins the difference. If the first Redmi AirDots were connected by connecting the smartphone to the right earpiece, and the left earpiece was already connected to the right one, then the second generation of Redmi headphones connects two earphones to the smartphone at once. Just as, in the wireless headphones Redmi AirDots 2 manufacturer has added noise cancellation. Environment Noise Reduction technology makes phone conversations even better by filtering out extraneous noise. The first AirDots did not have this feature, so users sometimes complained that the phone conversations in the headphones are not quite good quality. However, with the arrival of Redmi AirDots 2 this problem will be solved.

The most attractive thing about the Redmi headphones is the price. Despite the decent technical equipment, for this price you get quality sound, long battery life, and most importantly freedom from the eternally tangled wires. In-store GeekUfa on Revolutionary 97 you can buy wireless headphones Xiaomi for a bargain price.
