Connecting Xiaomi Mi Band 4 to your smartphone is done in 4 steps.

Install the Mi Fit app on your smartphone to use the Xiaomi Mi band 4. There are two ways to download it:

Scan the QR code below to download the Mi Fit app:

Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone, launch Mi Fit, log in with your account or register, select the “Profile” tab at the bottom, add a new device by tapping on Band.

Make sure the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 is charged, then bring it closer to your smartphone.

When the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 vibrates, press the wristband button to connect it to your smartphone.

After that Xiaomi Mi Band 4 will establish a connection with your smartphone. If you can’t connect the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 to your smartphone, make sure you have the latest version of the Mi Fit app installed, and repeat the above 4 steps.

In the absence of a branded power adapter, you can charge the battery of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4 fitness bracelet with any universal charger producing a voltage of 5 volts.

How to properly remove the Mi Band 3 from the bracelet strap

band
  • Remove the gadget from your hand.
  • Turn the capsule face toward you.
  • Grasp the two ends of the bracelet and stretch it slightly in different directions.
  • Without loosening the strap, push the tracker out by pushing your finger on the top of it (to avoid hitting the touch button).

Touch the touch button at the bottom of the screen to turn it on. If touching the touch button does not work, put the gadget on charge. To do this, remove the capsule from the strap by squeezing it up by bending the strap away from the screen about 90 degrees or pulling it away from the screen.

In the absence of a proprietary power adapter, you can charge the battery of Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4 fitness bracelet with any universal charger that outputs 5 volts.

Unlinking the wristband from the account will be necessary if the user:

  • sells/gives the fitness tracker;
  • bought another fitness bracelet;
  • wants to tether the gadget to another phone;
  • Lost the smartphone to which the device was tethered.

Mi Band is directly tied to your Mi Fit account, not to a specific phone/tablet.

Via the Mi Fit app

Option is suitable to detach Mi Band 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 from your phone. What you need to do:

  • Launch the Mi Fit app. Log in to your personal account.
  • Navigate to the “Profile” section on the bottom bar.
  • In the subsection “Devices” tap on the name of the bracelet.
  • A new window will open. Swipe down and click on “Unlink.
  • Confirm the operation in the pop-up window.

This method is considered the most correct, because it does not disrupt the Mi Band‘s operation.

Without accessing your account

Users who forgot their Mi Fit login/password will be able to unlink the Mi Band 3 from their phone using third-party software from Chinese developers. Before you use this method, remember:

  • All settings and information on the bracelet will be deleted;
  • allowing you to install applications from unknown sources, there is a chance to get a virus on the smartphone;
  • before using the software, it is recommended to disable Internet access in order to avoid leakage of personal data to remote servers;
  • After disconnecting the wristband from the device, run an antivirus scan that is preinstalled in the system or downloaded from Google Play;
  • Refuse to use the app when it requests access to functions it does not need: phone, SMS viewer, screen viewer, providing special features.

After reading the cautions, let’s move on to the process:

  • Find and download an application called “Diagnostic”. The official store doesn’t have it, so you’ll have to use a search engine and request to unlink the Mi Band 4 from your phone without access to your profile.
  • After installation, run the application and turn on Bluetooth to detect the tracker. Tap on its name in the expanded list after it is detected.
  • In the new window, select “Restore factory settings”.
  • The Band will display a notification to roll back the settings to the original state. Confirm this action.

Diagnostic app triggers factory reset with MAC address change. As a result, after a reset, the tracker becomes a “new” device, previously not tied to any account.

According to the Internet backstory, this utility was provided by the seller of Xiaomi fitness bracelets, when one of the buyers turned to him with a problem.

Why reset

Resetting to factory settings often helps to fix problems with the device. The easiest way to do this on your smartphone is to use the option in the menu. But now more and more people use smartwatches or fitness bracelets. And you may need to reset it to factory settings. This can be done if your smartphone is frozen, or you just need to zero out your physical activity information, but a reset is usually enough here.

With frequent changes of images on the tracker screen over time the watch ceases to respond quickly to commands. Here, too, a factory reset can help.

Sometimes when trying to link a bracelet to a smartphone app, the following message may appear on the screen: “Connection error. Perform a bracelet reset and try again”. Not everyone knows how to reset the fitness bracelet to factory settings. There is not one, but several ways of resetting.

A niche smartphone with 5G support for minimal money. It is not even on the Samsung website, but it is sold in Russia. Let’s compare with the Galaxy A22. Is it worth its money?

Somewhat imperceptibly, almost all compact city cars have left Russia, replaced by compact sedans and liftbacks like the Hyundai Solaris and Skoda Rapid. There are always two real city-cars left on our market, the hero of our material Kia Picanto and Chevrolet Spark together with its analogue under the brand Ravon.

Reanimating the Mi Band

The topic of defects in electronic devices for many experienced users (buyers) is as important as the characteristics and price. Sometimes the defect is fixable at home, and the benefit in price makes you take the risk, and sometimes not. Most often a large number of defects suffer devices not very famous manufacturers, just starting their fight for customers’ money. Here it is possible to refer the majority of the Chinese brands, sold on the Internet sites under strange for the Russian consumer names and not having the Russian certificate of conformity. However, there are examples when defects become a mass phenomenon for famous brands as well. Most often this happens when the manufacturer is not doing well with the sales of their devices (for various reasons) and begins to save both on components, and on testing new models (hello, one well-known Japanese company).

There is another situation, when only one, less often several models of a device have a high number of defects. In this case we can talk about a miscalculation in the design. A striking example of this is the hot news about a Korean manufacturer, which at one time did not leave the news headlines.

Potential buyers pay close attention to such information and on that basis make a choice in favor or against the purchase.

In this case, the question of warranty is particularly acute, and it is not worth neglecting this point.

But this is true for relatively expensive devices such as phones, tablets or accessories, the purchase of which involves a significant expenditure, which you can’t turn a blind eye to. If we are talking about electronics, which are perceived by many as an additional, optional and thus inexpensive accessory, the risk of getting a defective device is not as strong influence on the purchasing decision. An additional factor in favor of a positive decision is the price of buying through gray channels, which for gadgets of this group is often half as much compared to official sales channels.

Here the principle is working: even if you are not lucky. no pity. The buyer is willing to part with a small amount of money in exchange for substantial savings, coupled with the risk.

In this case, I am referring to the Mi Band series of smart bracelets from Xiaomi, reports of defects in which began to appear in the network since the release of the first generation and continue to appear to this day. And, judging by the profile forums, it may seem that this phenomenon is not so rare, and even frequent. But everything is not so bad let’s not forget about the volume of devices sold and the feature of our psyche, thanks to which, if you do well, you will not write about it on forums. over, the main and perhaps the only complaint to the bracelets Xiaomi is that at one point the gadget simply stops charging and shows no signs of life. It’s hard to say what this is about, as there has been no comment from Xiaomi, and employees of third-party service centers have not conducted research on this topic, as few people would have thought to carry this non-disassembled capsule to repair.

And the cost of the time spent by the wizard, most likely, would be higher than the price of a new gadget. That’s why for most people the most obvious solution was to buy a new device, and again from Xiaomi. In this case, the effect of the low price worked, which counterbalanced the loss of brand loyalty.

But, as they say, the world is not without good people, and among the owners of such gadgets there is a large number of inquisitive lovers of experiments. It is these enthusiasts have found ways to restore performance, seemingly irrevocably lost gadgets. Let’s look at these methods and try to understand their effectiveness. Not without pride I can say that one of these methods was invented by the author of these lines, and judging by the reviews of people on the forums, it really works.

But which of the following methods I will not say exactly. Let it be a secret.

Okay, lyrics aside, let’s move on to the practical part of today’s narrative.

Before reviewing the methods of resuscitation, in the absence of reliable data on the causes of failure, let us assume as an axiom that the main cause is a deep discharge of the battery, at which the controller puts the battery into storage mode to prevent the destruction of lithium. Because of the small size and capacity of such a battery, it is possible that it has no reserve capacity, which subsequently should allow the controller to “start” the device as soon as the external power source is connected. Therefore, the controller reserves the last crumbs of charge available in the main capacity of the battery to save this very battery, and they are no longer enough to start. At least the ways in which the device comes to life fit into this theory. Now about the ways to restore performance, which will be listed in descending order of risk to permanently kill the device.

The first method, the most controversial and dangerous. electroshock

The point of this method is to reset the bracelet completely and reset statistics on the controller to zero.

For this purpose it is suggested to use the most natural stun gun though in a miniature. As an instrument of execution it is suggested to use a piezo-element taken from an ordinary lighter. I think that many people in their childhood amused themselves by trying an improvised stun gun on each other and on themselves.

For the method to work, you just need to connect the contacts of the bracelet with the contacts of the piezo-element and shock the bracelet with the current. After that it is recommended to connect the bracelet to the charger and check its functionality. In theory, the bracelet should work. it should start charging and then turn on.

To try or not to try, you decide, but personally I would not recommend this method, because the percentage of success here is 50/50. You are either lucky and the bracelet will work, or unlucky and you will burn all the electronics inside the capsule. Reviews on the network confirm the effectiveness of this version of the revival. some work, some do not. And the percentage of the latter is higher.

The next method is the temperature method

If we look at the characteristics and operating parameters of lithium, it turns out that when the temperature of such a battery drops to negative values, it ceases to perform its function, as chemical processes inside the battery almost stop and energy ceases to be produced. The way out is to make the battery lose its charge completely, so that the data about the charge are reset in the controller. After that the bracelet should start life “from scratch”, as if it has just been made or as if a new battery was connected to it.

For this purpose it is recommended to put the bracelet into the freezer (the colder, the better) and leave it there for several hours, or better overnight, so it can freeze thoroughly and completely lose charge.

After that the bracelet should be taken out and left to warm up at room temperature for half an hour or an hour, in no case warm it with a hair dryer or on a radiator. Rapid heating after freezing can cause damage to the structure of electronic components, this should be known to everyone from high school physics course. After the bracelet is warmed up we try to turn it on. This method has a lot more positive feedback on the network. Many who used this method wrote that after freezing the bracelet began to charge and then turned on. I myself used this method after I got a first-generation bracelet from AliExpress, which showed no signs of life. After freezing the bracelet came to life.

The third way is scientific

It has more to do with chemistry and physics than electromechanics, and consists in accelerating the chemical reaction by increasing the temperature. But in this case just increasing the temperature is not enough. It should be combined with the creation of an electromagnetic field. It sounds scary. But in fact everything is elementary. If the bracelet does not turn on after a total discharge, you should first leave it on the charge for an hour or two, and then take it off the charge and quickly rub the capsule with a wool cloth until it is very hot and immediately connect it to the charger.

The bracelet should begin to take a charge. Apparently, during the friction heating the speed of chemical processes in the battery accelerates and generates additional energy, which is enough to “allow” the controller to start the device. Perhaps, a role is also played by the static electricity, which occurs when the capsule is rubbing against a woolen cloth.

In any case, judging by the reviews on the web, the method works and allows you to resuscitate the capsule which has gone into a deep discharge.

The fourth and simplest option is a waiter

This method is related to the already familiar principle of complete discharge of the battery to reset the data of the charge controller and then start, suitable for very patient users.

To use this method, you need to leave the capsule alone for a long period of time, during which time the battery should be guaranteed to use up all its charge, thus zeroing out the controller. After that it is recommended to just put the capsule on charging. The waiting time in this case varies from a couple of weeks to a month. The easiest way, which has its positive reviews on the network. I think it is possible to use it if the previous ones did not give any results or if you do not really need the bracelet at the moment and have time to wait.

These are some simple ways to bring back to life the Mi Band bracelets of different generations, which at some point stopped showing signs of life. It is possible that none of the above methods will not work, and then there is not much choice. to try to repair the bracelet by disassembling it, or buy a new one. Personally, I faced both the need for repair, as I wrote about once in the article Notes of the Master. Frankenstein, and with the need to revive bracelets. And in all cases the result was a working gadget.

Instead of a conclusion

Aside from sudden death, Xiaomi wristbands have one bad feature. being tethered to one account, they require unlinking from the previous account in order to connect to another account at a later time. And it often becomes a real problem for the user who created an account “out of the blue” when first setting up, then forgot about it and when you accidentally reset or change the phone faced with the inability to connect the bracelet, which did not unlink from the previous account.

For this case, too, there is a solution. a special service application sent by the Chinese seller of the bracelet to one of his customers and part-time user 4pda forum under the nickname rawin in response to an appeal with the problem of unlinking the account.

To unlink the bracelet you need to download the application file. After that, rename the downloaded file, removing the numbers after the dot, so that the extension has the ending APK, and install it. Then connect the bracelet to the phone using the Bluetooth system dialogue. Launch the app, making sure that the app displays the connected bracelet and its mac address, tap on the line with the bracelet. Then in the window that opens click on the bottom button, as in the screenshot.

After that, according to rawin, the bracelet “will make scary noises (beeping) during its operation” and will be reset to factory settings and forcibly unlinked from the previous account.

You can bring the bracelet back to life with these simple methods. Unlinking it can also help if the bracelet does not want to connect to your account not only through forgetfulness, but for no apparent reason. because in this case you do a complete reset.

How to reset Mi Band 4 if it froze

If the fitness bracelet is hung or locked, and the password you enter does not work, obviously you won’t be able to work with the display, and most of the above methods are discarded.

Excluding the self firmware of the device: perhaps it was the wrong custom version that caused the Mi Band 4 to work incorrectly.

What’s worth trying is to unlink the gadget from your phone by pressing the “Disconnect” button in the Mi Fit settings, after which you will need to re-sync if you plan to continue to wear the Smartwatch.

May help deep battery discharge, disassembled above. If the hang-up is caused by mechanical damage, such as you recall the fitness tracker flying from a height recently, a forced hard reset won’t help. It is worth to contact the service center.

Increase the battery life

One of the problems of any device is the need to recharge. Everyone wants to have as much battery life as possible. You can extend it by following these steps:

Xiaomi Mi Band 4 Remove Strap and Charge. How to

band
  • Disable permanent synchronization via Bluetooth
  • The need to constantly measure the heart rate occurs only for heavy loads. jogging, competitions. Otherwise, you can turn it off, as well as the Sleep Assistant. It will increase the work time from 3 to 5 days
  • Convenient if the screen is prompted every time you turn your hand. But not having this option would add 1 day of battery life
