Design Huawei Honor 10

If you like smartphones with a bright and recognizable appearance, then Huawei Honor 10 64gb 6gb ram is definitely your choice. The manufacturer has paid great attention to design and in my opinion it turned out super, the beauty of the device is hard to resist. Like the Huawei P20, it got a twilight gradient, which shines with new colors when you look at the phone from a different angle. The smartphone design is beautiful and very modern, it looks really efficient and expensive. There is a metal frame around the perimeter of the body, which gives rigidity to the glass construction and protects it in case of a fall from a height.

The front immediately catches the eye the main trend of 2018, which at first everyone laughed at, and then began to blindly copy. A monobrow, with built-in light sensor, proximity sensor, front camera and speaker. In terms of ergonomics everything is fine. The device feels good in the hand, but it is slippery because of the glass cover. The case feels solid, no matter how hard you try to push it, there are no creaks or backlashes.

I reviewed the Huawei Honor 10 64gb on the blue version, in addition to which you can find a version with a gray, black or green body. Each variant looks beautiful in its own way, giving everyone a good choice. The rear side of the smartphone is made entirely of glass, covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass with rounded edges, which provides at least some protection from scratches, although the case will be much more reliable and will save even in the event of a fall.

Honor 10 premium What ANNOYS and What PLEASES me

The front side is almost the same as the Huawei P20, which I reviewed not so long ago. Even the dimensions of the case are almost 100% the same. The only difference. The frame around the perimeter of the display, which in Huawei Honor 10 6gb is slightly wider (the screen takes 79.9% compared to 80.4% of the P20). Due to the upper notch we get an aspect ratio of 19:9, which will not please everyone. If you are among them, then in the settings menu of the phone you can disable the notch, filling the space around it with a dark background, which dramatically changes the design of the front panel.

many, honor

As the review of the smartphone Huawei Honor 10 showed, the manufacturer went for a strange decision, because when using a monobrow you expect minimal frames around the perimeter of the display, but at the bottom left a rather large indentation, where the fingerprint scanner is built.

Yes, you can’t argue, this location is much more practical, but you could achieve even more framelessness and install the scanner at the back, as is done by most competitors. It is interesting that it is not in the recess, but under the protective glass. In this regard, the first time you can not get your finger on it, but gradually you get used to it and it is easy to find, even in the dark. Triggering is precise and fast, although there were doubts about this due to the protective glass.

It is suggested to use the onscreen buttons to operate the system, and this is correct, because now there is no sense to take extra space at the bottom. If this option does not suit you, there is an alternative. In the settings you can switch to gesture control, which is implemented through a fingerprint sensor.

The review of Huawei Honor 10 4 64gb shows that the design of the back side has not changed much in comparison with the other smartphone series. Honor 9. The same smooth sides and a similar multi-layer coating are used, the color and pattern of which changes depending on the viewing angle. This is an unusual and extremely attractive effect, which has become a signature feature of Huawei smartphones.

On the bottom there is an external speaker, the main microphone, a 3.5mm jack for standard wired headphones and a USB-C port in the middle. This is a major plus of the device, because in the flagship models of the brand the classic headphone jack is no longer provided.

The power button and volume rocker are on the right, and the tray for 2 NanoSIM is on the left.

The top edge is occupied by an additional noise-canceling microphone and an IR port for controlling all sorts of equipment used in your home.

Huawei Honor 10 128gb smartphone is quite light and compact, but it will not be quite convenient to use with one hand due to the large diagonal display. To reach the top of the display will only be able to long fingers, the rest will have to intercept the body. The rounded edges provide a comfortable grip with your hand, but the glass. it is a very slippery material, so the chance of accidentally missing your Huawei Honor 10 phone is quite high. Avoiding this will help the case, which is already included.

Honor 10 review. Similar to the flagship, but there are nuances

It’s beautiful. These will be the first words of our Honor 10 review. The device looks modern, stylish and expensive. The glass back panel shimmers in fancy stripes in the sun, but, at the same time, the smartphone does not look like a cheap Chinese toy. There is a metal frame around the perimeter of the case. “Monobrow” on the front panel is initially invisible, but we will talk about it a little later. Ergonomics in general pleases: the smartphone is great in the hand, it is quite comfortable to use even with one hand, the assembly is of high quality, it feels monolithic. Many kudos to the manufacturer.

It is worth noting that we got our hands on a test sample, but it is unlikely to be very different from the one that will go on sale. Anyway, spoiler alert. smartphone is good, but definitely not for everyone.

The button under the display

On the front panel below the display is a touch button with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, edged with a sort of barely visible dotted line. To be honest, it made me a little sad. We saw some commercials where this button is either not visible at all (just a dark part of the body) or vice versa. so clearly visible that it seems as if it is illuminated. I assumed that Huawei would do it in a smart way: in normal use, the button will be invisible, but at the moments when you need to put your finger on the scanner, a special backlight will turn on. But the button isn’t hidden, nor is it glowing, it’s just outlined with a tentative dotted line. I don’t know why, I don’t know why, but they did.

Unlocking

Honor 10 supports face unlock. It works not only with the press of a button, but when you lift the display up as well. It’s really very convenient, works quickly and almost error-free, even in the dark. On those rare occasions when face unlocking didn’t work for some reason (really rare), I used the fingerprint scanner. Despite the fact that it has no clear border, the finger itself intuitively falls on it, so it’s also very convenient to use (at least, the owners of the average male hand). In the few days that I have been using the device, this unlocking scenario has already become a habit that I really don’t want to give up.

Wearability

In just a few days of extremely careful use, I slowly began to wear the paint off the back camera bezel. Also note that the phone is quite slippery and almost entirely covered by glass, so you need to use very carefully. Sloppy people should think three times about how they are going to protect the pristine look of the smartphone.

The display

The smartphone has a widescreen IPS display at 5.84 inches with an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. The picture is simply gorgeous, clear, contrast, “juicy”, “delicious”. The white color is really white, and black. dark as resin. In the settings you can adjust the color temperature, as well as switch between “natural” Shades and more juicy (a la AMOLED). In general, the display tries very hard to be similar to OLED, but in fact it is not, and in my subjective opinion, this is a big drawback. First, OLED is more energy efficient. Secondly, I would really like to “AlwaysOnDisplay”, and here it is not. And third, if you want to hide the monobrow, that might be a problem. In the settings you can turn on the black color of the notification panel, and then most of the time (in normal light) bangs will not be visible, but in good light the borders of the cut still become clearly visible. I understand that this is a matter of taste, but my business. to warn you.

The smartphone has a built-in NFC module (hello Meizu!). But it’s not as good as I’d like it to be. For example, the Google Pay app is not supported here for some reason. Perhaps this is a limitation of my test sample, but unlikely. Nevertheless, in the NFC settings I chose the mobile application of my bank (Privat24) and everything worked. In addition to the usual no-contact payment scenario, I also tried the “Huawei Beam” To quickly transfer files to another smartphone with NFC. Yes, the technology is not new and in general few people will use it, but for general information: it worked for me.

Honor 10 has a single multimedia speaker, located on the right side of the bottom edge. In this case, the conversational speaker does not help him in any way and, in my opinion, this is a big disadvantage. Sound, in general, pretty good, but, frankly, it could be better. In direct comparison with the OnePlus 3T, this smartphone “merged” practically no fighting. Also, while using it, I was constantly covering the speaker with my finger. I know that many smartphones have it in the same place, but this is more of a general disadvantage than an advantage.

But in headphones sound was very good. Thanks to the dedicated Hi-Fi audio chip AK4376A. Too bad there’s no LDAC support but there’s aptX. I missed the midrange a little, but the presence of a manual equalizer compensated for this drawback. In general, the sound in the headphones here is all right. In addition, the smartphone has 3.5 mm audio jack, which is another weighty “Plus”.

Performance

Under the hood is an 8-core Kirin 970 processor and 6GB of RAM. RAM is enough to spare. Applications never seem to unload from memory at all. The processor is powerful, but it heats up like an iron. Especially the metal frame. Prolonged gameplay can be uncomfortable.

A test of the processor under load for 5 minutes showed these results:

Initial performance was around 123 GIPS, but after 15 seconds the processor got warm and that’s why it dropped to 90-100 GIPS. Towards the end of the test there was another drop to 55-65 GIPS, and the temperature of the processor reached 78 degrees, red-hot the metal edges of the smartphone so much that you definitely do not want to use it. But to be fair, it’s worth noting that I’m talking about a synthetic test with continuous constant maximum CPU load, and in real life it’s not that bad. Let’s just say: you can safely count on 15-20 minutes of comfortable gaming, but if you plan to run games all day long, then along with a smartphone should buy welding gloves.

Cameras

The Honor 10 has built-in artificial intelligence features that help improve color reproduction and overall photo quality. In fact, I personally noticed that it just cranks up the saturation, and nothing more. I also thought the photos lacked a lot of detail, but the built-in algorithms try to artificially create it by sharpening objects and blurring “grainy” areas. HDR mode works pretty fast, but its presence is not always felt, unfortunately. When shooting video the lack of any stabilization affects, but it is possible to record in 4K resolution and do post-processing with Google Photos, as we wrote here (http://andro-news.com/news/killer-fichi-google-photos.html). Of course, this is a crutch, but otherwise you have to put up with jerky picture. Photos are blurry in low-light conditions. My overall opinion of the camera is far from rosy. I am attaching sample photos to this article so you can see for yourself how the picture quality looks in different conditions.

Connectivity

With communication Huawei has always been fine, and this device is no exception. The conversation speaker is quite loud, the sound is pleasant, without distortion. The microphone deserves its own praise: it captures the voice amazingly, and the active noise modulation cleans up the noise. In fact, it’s one of the best phone mics I’ve ever tried.

Tricks

The smartphone supports the proprietary voice control, even in a locked form. Something like “Ok, Google”, Only you can call it whatever you like. For example: “Hey, Vasya, call your beloved”. And the phone will call the contact that you have signed as “favorite”. If you can’t remember where you put your phone, you can call it: “Hey, Vasya, where are you??”. and your phone will respond.

Screen splitting is also supported by swiping your knuckle across the display. In the settings you can choose one of four types of system navigation: gestures by fingerprint scanner (very convenient), standard Android on-screen buttons, smart navigation bar with gesture support, as well as floating navigation button. Despite the fact that the smartphone is convenient to use with one hand, the developers have taken care of the settings of the mini-window, which can be called with a simple gesture. In the curtain, among other nice things are available: flashlight, screenshot, screen recording, power saving mode, “eye protection” (blue filter) and t.д.

Battery and charging

Built-in battery has a capacity of 3400 mAh and this is barely enough for 1 day of active use. Overnight the smartphone loses 6% of its charge. Charging is carried out through the USB-C port. Supports fast charging technology Super Charge. You can see the chronology of charging from 0% to 100% below:

As in the Huawei P20, from which this smartphone takes its example, the back cover is made of glass, but wireless charging, as they say, was not brought. Sure, it’s not the most important feature, but it’s better to have it than not to have it.

Features

  • Network: GSM / CDMA / HSPA / LTE
  • Tray: 2x nanoSIM without expandable memory
  • Display: IPS, 5.84 inches, 1080 x 2280 pixels (

As it is unfortunate to admit it, but at a time when the cost of flagships ranges around 1,000, the Honor 10 smartphone for 410-480 (with 64GB or 128GB of ROM, respectively) is a typical representative of the middle price segment. We understand your indignation in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев, we even share it, but it’s an established fact that needs to be accepted: 300-600. it’s in the mid-range segment. And given the fact that the Honor 10 is priced at half the price of the Huawei P20 Pro, I wouldn’t say it’s half as good. Yes, there is nothing new in it: absolutely passable smartphone, which will not lead a revolution in the market and in general is unlikely to become a hit of sales, but it is just a good device, which leaves a very pleasant impression.

Let’s sort out what in Honor 10 corresponds to the flagship level. First, there is the top-of-the-line eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset: it can compete with the Snapdragon 845 and the heart of the expensive Galaxy S9. Exynos 9810. Secondly, the built-in memory was not spared. one version of the smartphone has 128 GB. There is also a gorgeous LTPS screen. At a diagonal of 5.84 inches it has a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels and fashionable nowadays “stretched” aspect ratio (19:9).

If you compare it with the Honor 9, you can see striking improvements in the design. With the same dimensions at the “nine” had a thick frame, compressing a 5.15-inch display. The new one has a small “bangs” on top with a front camera, a talking speaker and sensors. On the bottom, on a strip just 8 mm wide, there is a fingerprint sensor.

Yes, the ultrasonic module is not a separate element, but removed under the screen glass. Perhaps that’s why it takes three times longer than a conventional fingerprint scanner to memorize fingerprints during registration. In daily use, it has almost no effect: recognition is fast and fairly confident. At the same time the sensor performs the functions of the usual navigation buttons. The necessary gestures. presses of different durations and swipes. are quickly memorized.

Intelligent face recognition system by characteristic points, and in addition quickly and reliably, is another feature borrowed by Honor 10 from expensive gadgets. Face capture with front camera takes seconds. Convenient, especially when you can’t unlock your phone with the classic method.

There is a 3.5 mm jack for headphones. And that’s a good thing too! The downside of such a design decision is that the smartphone has no protection against moisture. However, there are not many devices with similar stuffing in this price segment, and we are dreaming about IP68.

Honor 10i three-camera midget review

At the end of 2018, Honor became the most popular smartphone manufacturer in Russia. Largely contributed to this success of the flagship Honor 10, which the company consolidated by the subsequent release of a more affordable Lite-version. Recently the Honor 10i was announced, the review of which is offered to your attention. This smartphone has a lot of compromises that the developers made for the sake of a triple camera with a wide-angle module. Are they worth it?? Let’s find out.

The device in work

The Honor View 10 has the flagship HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset. It’s built with 10nm process technology and uses a big.LITTLE, which combines four efficient 2.36GHz Cortex-A73 cores and four efficient 1.8GHz Cortex-A53 cores. Complemented by a 12-core Mali-G72 MP12 graphics gas pedal and 6GB of RAM. 128GB of internal storage, with the shell occupying 8GB. If that’s not enough, instead of a second SIM card, you can install a microSD card with up to 256GB.

With this hardware, everything runs at lightning speed and even the abundant animation in EMUI is not able to slow down the interaction with the device. Any application opens instantly. At the same time the device keeps in memory a couple of heavy games (WoT and Injustice 2), Chrome with a dozen tabs and a few more messengers and social networks. Needless to say, web surfing and streaming video is great. you can watch YouTube videos and scroll through the news feed in a second window at the same time, and the smartphone won’t even get warm.

Mobile gamers will also be satisfied. most popular games are played at maximum graphics quality and stable frame rate. Using the benchmark Gamebench we tested how the device copes with the World of Tank: Blitz and Injustice 2.

At maximum settings in World of Tanks average of 59 frames per second. Frame rate almost never drops.

At minimum graphics settings the game produces the same 59 frames per second, but the load on the processor at the same time is much less.

Injustice 2 runs at 30 frames per second.

Speaking speaker is loud and good quality. In the smartphone there are two microphones, one of which is responsible for noise suppression during a conversation. in a busy street voice can be clearly heard.

The multimedia speaker is one and is located on the bottom face. It’s easy to overpower with a horizontal grip. Nevertheless, its sound is clear and intelligible even at maximum volume. The sound in the headphones also no questions. paired with Audio-Technica ATH-IM02 smartphone gives a good frequency balance and ample volume reserve.
