Hint: Due to the appearance of new functions, the usual camera interface has changed beyond recognition. it took more space to place all the settings and, in order not to clutter up the screen, they were hidden. It took me a while to figure out where to look for them. Previously, they were in plain sight. I didn’t immediately realize that the nondescript gray chevron at the top of the display is the key to the settings. Tap on the chevron or swipe up on the camera screen to open the settings panel above the shutter button.

However, the developers of the application went even further and made it so that when the “Capture photo outside the frame” option is enabled, two frames will be recorded. the original one and the one that was outside its boundaries. An unused auxiliary snapshot will be automatically deleted from memory after 30 days. Why save an auxiliary snapshot? For example, to eliminate perspective distortions that have arisen when shooting architecture, or to straighten a clipped horizon line. Night mode for shooting in the dark

Night Mode is a feature of the iOS 13 Camera app for the iPhone 11 range that automatically turns on when there is insufficient light, such as in the semi-darkness of a night alley, or by candlelight in a dusk living room. The result is impressive. Just imagine that at night, when shooting handheld, you get a natural, clear, rich color photo. And, what is valuable, it looks exactly like a night scene. Here, as in Smart HDR, artificial intelligence is involved with its neural networks and machine learning.

Night mode turns on automatically in low light conditions. At the time of shooting, the camera analyzes the scene and determines how many frames must be captured to create an adequate image, then captures a series of frames with different exposures in the buffer for a specified period of time from 1 to 30 seconds. In my practice, the time span was from 1 to 8 seconds. True, 8 seconds was when shooting with a tripod. If the device is stationary, more frames are captured to obtain the best possible image. Then the artificial intelligence analyzes each frame in real time, aligns them relative to each other based on the gyroscope data, adjusts the tone and color, eliminates noise, enhances the details and combines them into a complete picture.

Tip: Optical stabilization of each captured frame allows you to get a sharp handheld shot in a time interval of up to 3 seconds. However, mounting the unit on a tripod will produce better images. Try to keep the movement in the frame as small as possible, all moving objects will turn out to be blurry. However, sometimes blur is very useful 🙂

On previous iPhones, it is impossible to get a full “night” photo. Only thanks to the latest wide-angle camera matrix has the night mode reached the proper level and now fully lives up to its name.

Someone might argue that “night” mode has long existed in third-party photography applications. To this I will answer that, for example, the “night” plug-in Lowlight in my beloved ProCamera did not lie nearby. Even if you mount your iPhone on a tripod, night photos taken with the ProCamera are darker and grayer.

Apple Design

The design of the iPhone 11 Pro Max can be summed up in one phrase: ergonomic minimalism. The case is made of glass and metal, where the rounded rectangle of the surgical steel frame is covered on both sides with heavy-duty glass plates, the back plate is matte with a mirror Apple in the middle, the silky-elastic display plate is impeccably smooth. The device is protected from water and can withstand a half-hour dive to a depth of 4 meters. Externally, the smartphone is similar to last year’s iPhone XS Max. All the buttons are in the same places, except perhaps a little lower along the body and this is very good, because it is more convenient to press.

The only noticeable design difference is the Tri-Camera System, located in the upper left corner of the rear panel, making the smartphone more and more like a photo / video device. However, there is nothing to be surprised at, because the quality of photos and videos today is the main competitive advantage in the smartphone market, and Instagram is becoming the main communication platform in the world with a billion users.
