How to take a screenshot of Android

This instruction is not only for those who do not know how to take a screenshot on Android, but also for other readers: it is possible that among the proposed methods they will find interesting additional methods that they have not thought about before.

In the guide below, there are several ways to take screenshots on an Android phone or tablet: “Standard”, additional methods from phone manufacturers using the example of Samsung Galaxy, using applications on Android itself and on a computer (if we need to get a screenshot directly to a computer).

Screenshot apps for Android

There are many free and paid apps available on the Play Store for taking screenshots and working with Android screenshots. Among them can be distinguished, both free and in Russian:

  • Screen Master. allows you to take a screenshot of the screen or its area using buttons, icons on the screen or shaking the phone, edit the created screenshots, change the save format, and more. To start the program, you need to click the “Enable Screen Capture” button. You can download it from Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?ID=pro.capture.screenshot

A simple universal method to take a screenshot on Android

Almost all modern Android phones and tablets, regardless of brand and OS version, offer one simple way to take a screenshot: simultaneously press and briefly hold the volume down button and the power button (for some older models, the hardware Home button).

All that is required is to get used to “correctly” pressing these buttons at the same time: sometimes it does not work the first time and as a result either the screen simply turns off, or the volume indicator appears. Nevertheless, the method works and if you have not used it before and did not work right away, try a few more times, a screenshot will be taken.

Also, on pure Android 9 (for example, on Nokia smartphones) the following method appeared: press and hold the power button and in the menu, in addition to shutting down and restarting, a button appears to take a screenshot:

In addition to the described basic methods of taking screenshots, different manufacturers of phones and tablets offer their own additional features, it is quite possible that there are also on your device. I will give an example of such functions for a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Ways to Take Screenshot and Screenshot Function on Samsung Galaxy

Different models of Samsung smartphones may have different functions available for working with screenshots, but on most modern models you will find the options described below.

  • If you go to Settings. Additional functions. Motions and gestures, you can enable the “Palm screen capture” item. Just slide the edge of your palm from right to left: a screenshot will be taken automatically.
  • If your Samsung Galaxy has such a feature as showing widgets in the Edge panel (sidebar on the right), then you can go to Settings. Display. Curved screen. Edge panels. There you can turn on the Select and Save panel, which allows you to take a screenshot of the selected area of the screen, or the Tasks Edge panel, one of the items of which takes a screenshot of the screen.
  • Also, in the “Additional functions” section of the settings there is a “Screenshot” option. After turning it on, when you create a screenshot using the buttons on the phone, a settings panel will appear, which allows, for example, to place in the screenshot areas of the screen that do not fit on the screen (scroll the page in the browser, and all of it will be included in the screenshot).

Well, Galaxy Note owners probably know that you can simply remove the stylus to display a menu, among the buttons of which there is also a screenshot of the entire screen or its area.

Take a screenshot of Android on a computer or laptop

If after creating screenshots you copy them to your computer and then work with them on it, you can skip the copying step. Almost all programs that allow you to transfer an image from the Android screen to a computer, including the function of creating screenshots.

  • ApowerMirror
  • Samsung Flow (official program for Samsung Galaxy)
  • Or you can broadcast an image from Android to Windows 10 using built-in system tools and use the Print Screen key to create screenshots.

And this, again, is not all the options available. But, I hope, the proposed methods will be enough for your tasks: if not, I look forward to your comments and try to suggest a suitable solution.

How to take a screenshot on a Samsung tablet

Many people prefer to use Samsung tablets. After all, this Korean manufacturer produces high-quality, functional and convenient equipment. However, when using any device, some questions may arise. For example, very often people on the Internet ask how to take a screenshot on a Samsung tablet? Therefore, we decided to prepare an article in which we will tell you about different ways to take a screenshot.

Way

Like many smartphones, tablets have the ability to make a screen by simply pressing the keys on the body of the device. It is only important to know which buttons and in what sequence you need to use.

  • We simultaneously hold down the power and volume down buttons. Literally 1-2 seconds.
  • We are waiting for the screen to blink and the shutter of the camera is activated (a specific sound will inform you about this).
  • All screenshot is taken. You can find it in the “Gallery”. But the easiest way is through the top notification bar.

This method of taking a screenshot works on many models of Samsung tablet devices. Including on Galaxy tab 2, tab 3 and tab 4.

Taking screenshots using the ShootMe application

There is also a special software that allows you to “photograph” the screen. For example, for Samsung tablets, we recommend the ShootMe app, which is one of the most popular Android screenshots.

It’s very easy to use. At the same time, different modes are available:

  • For example, you can configure the program so that a screenshot will be taken automatically when the user covers the light sensor on the tablet with his hand.
  • Another interesting mode is just shake the device. The system, due to the indicators of the accelerometer, recognizes this action as a command to create a screen.
  • The third way is screaming. A loud sound is enough and the tablet will take a screenshot. That is, you do not need to press, close or shake anything at all. Just scream.

Method number 5

The latest top models of Samsung (and not only) support the “gesture control” function. Does this technology help you take screenshots quickly and easily? Of course yes.

All that is required of the user to take a screenshot is to gently and gently touch the display with the edge of his palm. over, it is possible from left to right, and from right to left. Keep in mind, however, that by default, the function that allows you to take a screenshot with a gesture is often disabled. You can activate it in the settings:

  • Go to the “Settings” section.
  • From there. to the subsection “Management”.
  • Next, we are interested in the item “Motion sensor”. Click on it.
  • Go to Palm Control. Click “Screenshot” and enable the function.

Way

You can also take a screenshot of the screen using another keyboard shortcut:

  • We press simultaneously the “Home” button (located at the bottom of the display in the middle) and “Enable / disable”.
  • You do not need to hold down the keys for a long time. Enough 2 seconds.
  • Did you manage to take a screenshot? You will learn about this by additional animation and soundtrack.
  • The system will automatically save the screen in the “Gallery”. From there it can be uploaded just like a regular photo. If you can’t find the saved screenshot, then look for it in the “ScreenCapture”, “ScreenShots” or “Photos” folders.

Thus, you can take a screenshot on both old models (the same Samsung Galaxy tab 2), and on new recently released tablets (Samsung Galaxy tab a / s2 / e, etc.).

Way

On many Samsung tablet computers, you can create a screen like this:

  • Press and do not release the power button for a couple of seconds.
  • We look at the display. A small menu should appear there.
  • We select the item “Screenshot” in it.
  • We see how the tablet screen blinks and we hear the sound of the camera shutter. So the screen is done.

Way

On many Samsung tablets that have an old version of Android (2, 3 and 4), you can take a screenshot in another way. Again, you need to press and hold two buttons. These are “Home” and “Back”. These keys are located at the very bottom of the display. You can find a screenshot in the Gallery or in the Pictures / ScreenCapture folder. On some devices, screenshots are saved in Pictures / Screenshots.

For reference! Some users connect a keyboard to the tablet for the convenience of entering information. This makes it even easier to take a screenshot. It is enough to find and click on the print screen key. Usually it is denoted like this. PrtScr or Print Scrn.

After that, the corresponding icon is displayed in the status bar on the screen, indicating that the screenshot has been taken. How this is done is shown below using the example of the Galaxy A5.

You do not need to hold down the button for more than two seconds. If this method did not work, then you need to use one of the following.

These shots show everything that is visible on the screen. At the same time, the user is subsequently given the opportunity to view, edit and send to any person.

While the combination remains the same in Apple devices, it will be more difficult with the rest of the phone models. A large assortment aggravates the situation and excludes a single method.

The second method is used if the mechanical key on the front panel of the device, which is responsible for minimizing windows, is absent. In this case, the power and volume down buttons are clamped. Actions shown on Galaxy Tab 2.

The result is saved in the gallery, and the corresponding icon is displayed, as in the previous case. If this option is not suitable, then the following applies.

If the above options are not suitable, then the latter applies. In this case, the screenshot on Android is taken with the palm of your hand. This option is only suitable for flagships. This is the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note line. Take the Galaxy S6 Edge, for example. To do this, follow these steps:

The steps taken depend on the smartphone model and manufacturer. In any case, these operations are accompanied by a characteristic sound and notification in the left corner of the display.
