apple, airpods, control

To find out the exact charge on your headphones, add the Batteries widget to your iPhone. They will be displayed here when you use them.

You can also open Control Center on Apple Watch and go to the battery menu. If the earbuds are active, their charge will be shown here.

Only one earphone can be used

You can use one earbud as a wireless headset. In the Settings menu of Bluetooth Airpods “Microphone”, you can choose whether it will be the left or right earphone. If you choose either right or left according to the situation, the “Automatic” item should be selected in the menu.

Automatic ear detection can be disabled

Step 2. Go to Bluetooth section.

Step 4. Set the “Auto-detect ear” switch to the inactive position.

In this case, Airpods will not pause playback when you remove one of the earbuds from your ear. IPhone audio will also not automatically switch to Airpods when you take them out of the case and put them in your ears.

What the indicator light on the case shows

The Airpods case has just one indicator light that shows everything that is happening with the headphones:

No indication: the headphones are completely discharged, they need to be connected to the power supply;

Orange with headphones inside: headphones and case are charging from the mains;

Orange without headphones inside: the case in the case is less than you need for one charge of Airpods;

Orange blinking: there is an error connecting the headphones, they need to be reconnected while holding the button on the back of the case;

Green with headphones inside: the headphones are charged from the case;

Green without earbuds: The case will last for at least one Airpods charge;

Green blinking: the indicator turns on and off when you pull out and place the earbuds in the case;

The indicator light is located under the cover of the Airpods case. right between the earbuds.

Tips for New Airpods Users

Headphones can be controlled by double touch

Step 2. Go to Bluetooth section.

Step 4. Select “Left” or “Right” under “Double tap Airpods”.

By double-tapping one of the Airpods, you can activate Siri, start or pause playback, switch tracks to the next or previous.

Choose any action for each of the headphones to control them as you like.

Second: over time, everything is fine

I really like the opening hours, it was interesting to know if the announced time coincides with reality. Once again, it turned out that Apple indicated honest numbers: it turns out 4.5 hours of work with the noise control turned on and a little more if you turn it off.

The case charges the headphones four more times, giving a total of a day of work. over, the fast charging mode also works, when after five minutes in the Airpods Pro case they work for another hour. There is enough iron for a day of charging, albeit with interruptions for recharging.

The earbuds are charged when they are in the case, and it, in turn, is charged either via wireless charging or via a cable. over, the set with Airpods Pro comes with a top-end USB Type-C to Lightning cable, special thanks for that. I’m not a fan of wireless chargers, so out of habit I charge through the cord.

First: a small case

After the experience with different TWS headphones, I am glad that Airpods Pro has such a small case. It’s sleek, glossy white, and the lid snaps so nicely when you close it. Note that I do not have a case for the case, i.e. for the house where Airpods Pro live.

But if you are worried about the safety of things, treat them very pedantically, or even plan to sell the headphones “like new” in a year, then a cover is necessary. Gloss scratches quickly, and there is nothing you can do about it. I’m not really worried about this, because carrying a case in a case is like driving in a car with a leather interior, pulling covers over it. Strange, wild, incomprehensible.

Third: there is no life without noise

As an office headphone, the Airpods Pro have performed remarkably well. They crush ambient sounds no worse than the large overhead Bose QC35s. For a minute, imagine the difference in size.

In the subway, the situation is the same: you can listen to music and watch a movie, Airpods Pro give STIHL, removing the ambient noise. I will not say that complete isolation from the world comes, but for small headphones this is a very, very decent result. In any case, then you just don’t want to use headphones without noise canceling.

Sixth: you can wet, you can’t dive

You cannot swim in the headphones, but they have IPX4 protection. That is, splashes of sweat or light rain will not spoil them. And if in a shower or a bathroom? Naturally, at your own peril and risk, you should not wet them under running water. But no one bothers to gently immerse the body in the bath, let foam, take a glass and relax.

Fourth: simple controls

The Apple website contains detailed instructions on how to operate the headphones. Just in case, I will duplicate:

  • Pressed once. started playback or answered a call;
  • Pressed twice. went to the next song;
  • Pressed three times. went to the previous song;
  • Hold switches from squelch mode to transparent mode.

You can press on the left or right earphone, the action is accompanied by a well-audible click. It happens that you accidentally pinch the leg when you take out the earphone, inadvertently changing the noise canceling mode.

There are no buttons for adjusting the volume on Airpods Pro, there are no gestures either, so all that remains is to call Siri with your voice and give commands to it. I usually rotate the wheel on Apple Watch. change the volume in this way or press the iPhone keys on the side.

Fifth: put on and forget

Everyone’s ears are different, there’s nothing you can do about it, you need to try on and try headphones before buying. Airpods Pro are no exception: some are comfortable with the model, others are not very good. I’ll say to myself that I’m comfortable with them. They sit tightly, do not fall out, you can shake your head or run. you won’t lose. Good passive noise isolation, and if you turn on noise reduction, it gets even better.

chips Apple Airpods Pro

Airpods Pro.

I enjoy watching the world of mobile sound change. At first, headphones became wireless, then more and more true-wireless models became, where there are no wires at all, and now there is a new round of development. Small, wireless and noise canceling, isn’t that great? General pleasant trends have led to the birth of the Airpods Pro. How life is with new headphones, and will be my story.

To begin with, I last used Apple headphones for a very, very long time. Neither EarPods nor Airpods stick in my ears, so I could not walk with them for a long time.

But many years ago I had headphones called Apple In-Ear, it was a pretty cool headset with a remote control (which was not found in every headphone ten years ago), with good noise isolation and a pleasant sound. Since then, there have been a lot of interesting things to use, and now I switched to Airpods Pro.

Control gestures

The pressure sensors, which the new Airpods Pro boast, allow the user to answer incoming calls, pause and skip songs received new functions. Let’s analyze the number of clicks required to simplify control of the gadget.

  • One press is responsible for starting, pause, answering a call.
  • Two taps allows you to skip to the next track.
  • Three presses return to the previous track.
  • Long press is necessary to switch between “Transparent” or “Noise reduction” modes.

Touching the sensor to control the headphones

Gestures work the same on both earbuds, which is convenient.

Alternatively, you can use the Siri function. Just say “Hey Siri” and say the song you want, get directions or call someone.

You can use the volume slider in Control Center to control your headphones. Switch between modes with it. If you are lucky enough to own a smartwatch from Apple, click the AirPlay icon on it while listening to music and open the Airpods settings.

Connection

Bring the case with the headphones to the phone and open it. An animation will appear on the screen. click Connect.

The new Airpods Pro are more open to customization than regular Airpods, thanks to the pressure sensors built into each earbud. In this article, we will teach you how to control your new Airpods Pro to switch music, control calls, activate noise canceling, and more.

This time, Apple has added a pressure sensor to each earbud. They essentially turn the surface of the earbuds into a multitasking button.

The sensors allow you to control your music and calls, and toggle between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparent Mode. Below we will tell you how to use them.

2) Select the Bluetooth section from the main list.

3) Click the “i” icon next to your Airpods Pro.

In addition, there is a special test in the Bluetooth settings that will help you determine the ideal earbud size for you.

You can find out more about the headphones if you read the technical specifications of the Airpods Pro.

How to switch (turn on, pause) songs on Airpods if they don’t have a remote control

While the regular wired EarPods included with the iPhone have a remote control that has extensive control over music playback, the wireless Airpods do not. So how to switch (turn on, pause) songs?

Auto play

Airpods that are paired with your device are placed in your ears and automatically play music. When one Airpods are removed, song (track) playback is paused. Removing both headphones will completely stop playback (analogous to the Stop button).

This function is configured by going to Settings → Bluetooth → Airpods → Auto-detect ear on iPhone or iPad, but it should be taken into account:

  • If the Autodiscover function is turned on, but at the same time the headphones are not used, the music will be played through the speakers of the iOS device.
  • If Auto Detect Ear is turned off, then all audio recordings will be played in the Airpods, regardless of whether they are in your ears or not.

How to Control Wireless Airpods

Headphones are controlled by Siri. Voice assistant is invoked by double tapping on any AirPod.

Siri can do whatever needs to be done with them! Apple lists several examples of Siri voice commands for Airpods:

Play my favorites playlist. “Turn up the volume.” “How do I get home from here?” “Move on to the next song.” “Pause the music.” “What is the battery level in my Airpods?”.

It is worth noting that in iOS, along the path Settings → Bluetooth → Airpods → Left (Right), you can change the action of any of the headphones to double-tap. There is an opportunity to activate playback, pause, go to the next or previous track through double tapping, or completely disable this feature.

How to answer a call in Airpods

If someone calls you while you are listening to music in Airpods, Siri can announce the call. You can answer it with a double tap on the top of any earphone.

Selecting the Airpods with the microphone

Each AirPod comes with a microphone for making phone calls and using Siri. By default, iOS uses Automatic for microphone settings, in other words, any of the headphones can be used as the microphone. If only one AirPod is used, then it is he who will be the microphone.

In the iOS Settings, along the path Bluetooth → Airpods → Microphone, it is possible to force the value “Always right earpiece” or “Always left earphone”. With specific settings, the AirPod will act as a microphone even when removed from your ear.

How to set up AirPods

To access the settings menu, open the case and place it next to the smartphone. Go to the settings section and open the Bluetooth section.

  • Here you can change the current Airpods name by simply clicking on it and setting a new one. This way you can rename Airpods, which is very necessary.
  • Change the double tap action, for example to skip to the next track.
  • For example, set up earbuds to detect in the user’s ear so that the music doesn’t stop when you take out one of them.
  • In addition, the headset microphone setting is located here. So, for example, a microphone can only be used with a headset.

How to connect Airpods to iPhone

To start listening to music through Bluetooth headphones, you need to connect them to your iPhone. To do this:

  • Keep the headset body close to the smartphone and open the cover;
  • Click the Connect button on the phone screen;
  • You will then be prompted to press the pairing button located on the back of the headset body.

Voila! Pairing is complete and you can now listen to audio.

If you want to connect Airpods to another Apple phone, you need to follow the same three steps.

Want to connect your capsules to Apple Watch? You don’t have to do anything, because as soon as your headphones are connected to the iPhone, they will automatically connect to the smartwatch as well. The same situation will be with your iPad and MacBook. all thanks to iCloud sync.

What does the indicator on the case mean?

You can check the current status of your Airpods by looking at the indicator on the case. Better remember what light means.

How to control Airpods. instruction

Let’s take a look at the controls and basic features of Airpods. Unfortunately, there are no mechanical buttons on the headphones themselves. Thus, the main control is done by pressing / releasing the sensor on the earpiece and using the Siri voice.

  • To pause and resume playback, tap the encoder once.
  • Skip to the next song. double tap
  • Skip to the previous song. Triple tap
  • Other commands have already been given via Siri, such as the command to turn off the volume

In addition, in the Bluetooth headset settings, you can change the action to double tap if you want to enable another action and you are not particularly interested in voice control.

How do I answer a call? Just tap the sensor once to answer the call and quickly end it twice.

Interesting! You can also find Airpods using the Find My iPhone option. Just open it in your phone settings and see the latest headphone location.

How to connect Airpods to MacBook

This is not to say that the airpod headphones were designed to work in tandem with the iPhone. After all, there are times when you want to watch a movie or music video on the big screen, and then you need to connect with your MacBook. This task is doable, the connection steps will be the same for all MacBook models.

If you’ve never connected Airpods to your iPhone, here’s what you need to do:

  • Open the charging case that contains the earbuds;
  • Press and hold the pairing button on the back of the case;
  • open the options menu in your MacBook and go to the “System Settings” section;
  • tap the Bluetooth section;
  • In the list of devices that opens, select Airpods and click Connect.

Check audio playback. If it doesn’t go through the headphones, go to the Bluetooth menu and in the sound settings (speaker icon) check the Airpods as an audio output device.

You can also easily connect your ether pods to your Windows computer.

How to charge Airpods

Apple claims that Airpods wireless earbuds can operate on a single battery charge for 5 hours. But in reality, as shown by several tests, the operating time is 4 hours and 29 minutes, after which a beep will sound, notifying the need to charge the batteries. To charge them:

  • put the headphones in the case;
  • Wait for 15 minutes;
  • you can use Airpods again.

If the case is 100% charged, you can charge the earbuds several times. By charging in a case, you can extend the battery life up to 24 hours. With the W1 chip, Airpods can be charged to the point where the battery will last 3 hours in 15 minutes. Airpods Pro are equipped with an H1 chip, and 5 minutes of charging is enough for an hour of use.

If you need to charge the battery in the case, just grab the lightning rod and plug the case into a power source. You can charge the case either with headphones or empty without headphones.

Disable auto-detect ear

A feature that was in previous Airpods models, allows you to automatically pause playback and continue if the user takes the earphone out of his ear or puts it back.

On the one hand, it is convenient, but on the other hand, many people want to continue listening in one headphone.

It couldn’t be easier. In the headset settings menu, turn off the Auto-detect ear switch and rejoice.

Auto answer incoming calls

When using a headset, you can automatically receive incoming calls. You don’t have to press the earpiece or take your iPhone out of your to do this.

Just follow the path Settings. Accessibility. Touch. Sound source and set the value of the Bluetooth headset parameter. This will set the default device through which the incoming call will be activated.

Below we go to the Auto Answer Calls section and set a convenient delay in seconds. Now, when a call comes in after a set period of time, the call will be answered automatically.

Useful Airpods Pro Features You Need to Know

Apple’s new headset has many differences from the first and second generation Airpods.

In addition to the appearance, the headphones marked “pro” received some interesting software features. Now let’s figure out what and how it works in the new Apple headset.

Finding a missing earphone

If the earphone gets lost in the household junk, you can quickly find it using your iPhone.

To do this, launch the Find My app in iOS 13 and select your Airpods Pro on the Devices tab. Press the button to play sound and start listening.

You can start searching for a headset on older versions of iOS according to our instructions.

The chip will work if the lost earphone is outside the case and it disappeared within the Bluetooth range.

Switching between noise canceling modes

The main feature of the new headphones is active noise cancellation. This feature is useful, but sometimes you need to disable it. This can be done to conserve battery power (Airpods Pro live about an hour longer with noise turned off) or to hear sounds around you.

To switch modes through the iPhone, open the control center and press the volume switch hard.

Below the large slider you will see a switch with three modes: noise canceling on, noise canceling off, and transparent mode.

The last option is another cool feature of the headset, when external noise is not suppressed, but on the contrary. is added to the sound of music in order to hear the sounds occurring around the user.

A similar switch can be found in the Settings. Bluetooth menu, if you press the “i” button next to the connected headset.

Quick check of charge level

The headset case is equipped with a wireless charging coil and can restore completely dead batteries in about 3 hours. You can find out the charge level in the usual way through the iPhone.

To do this, you can use the Batteries widget or just open the case cover next to the smartphone for the Airpods animation to appear.

There is another tricky way to find out the charge even without an iPhone. When the case is on wireless charging, just knock lightly and the LED indicator will light up. Orange color wakes up to signal the charge level is below 80%, and green. from 80 to 100%.

Not very informative, but sometimes it will be enough to not look for an iPhone.

Setting up quick actions

The new headset has received new control gestures. Now there is no need to tap on the earphone, feeling an unpleasant return in the ear canal. It is enough to squeeze the body with two fingers to stop or resume playback.

How to use AirPods Pro Tips/Tricks!

Double and triple presses toggles tracks forward and backward, respectively. Long press to enable or disable noise canceling mode.

In the settings, you can change the action to call the voice assistant Siri. Just go to the already familiar headset options menu and change the action for each of the headphones.

Here you can turn off the noise reduction modes, which will not be used when switching.

Checking the fit to the ears

Airpods Pro was equipped not only with external microphones, but also with internal ones. It takes special measurements after the user places the earpiece in their ear.

This is necessary for a finer adjustment of the sound and determination of the tightness of the fit of the in-ear “plugs”.

At the initial connection, the system will prompt you to pass the earbud fit test. This will help you choose the most suitable pair of ear pads.

If you missed the test when connecting or want to repeat it, go to Settings. Bluetooth and press “i” next to the connected Airpods Pro.

Dedicated button Test fit to ears will start a new calibration procedure.

Control

To switch tracks and answer calls, Airpods users use short taps on the “leg” of the earphone, while in the Pro model, the developers have implemented a press recognition module.

Both Airpods have the same priority, and you can press either of them with your currently free hand to operate. Siri voice assistant in both models is always active and invoked via voice commands.

“Transparent” mode

Previously, as a sign of respect, they took off their hat when they met, but now they take out one earpiece from their ear, however, no one will do this with Airpods Pro. It is enough to use the pressure sensor on the “leg” to switch the accessory to the “transparent” mode, in which the third-party sound penetrates into the ear almost unhindered.

This mode can be useful for conversations, playing sports, at work and just on the street, allowing the avid music lover to hear the signals of cars at the transition, the barking of an attacking dog while jogging or extraneous noise when working with a traumatic tool.

Airpods Pro and Airpods 2 design and dimensions

Airpods Pro are the first in-ear earbuds from Apple, which are quite easy to visually distinguish from previous generations, not only by the presence of ear tips (which, by the way, are put into the box at once in three pairs of different sizes), but also by the shortened “leg”. which is now located at an acute, rather than right angle to the center axis of the hull.

At the same time, both the headphones and the charging case have slightly increased in size, and the weight of one “ear” has increased by one and a half grams.

We should also mention the ergonomics of the Airpods Pro earbuds. They have a special conical cavity inside and technological holes in the silicone coating, which allow you to minimize pressure on the user’s ears and make the device as comfortable as possible.

Water resistant

When developing the design of Airpods Pro, the developers paid attention to protecting the microphones and electronic filling of the accessory from external influences. In particular, the grille of the external microphone has been redesigned, which does not allow unnecessary noise in the wind, as well as protection against ingress of water and sweat into the housing in accordance with the IPX4 standard (IEC 60529). That being said, Apple recommends that you refrain from water sports with your headphones on and wipe them dry before charging.

Positioning

Apple is very fond of using the “Pro” prefix in the names of their products, but if such positioning is really justified for Mac, MacBook and iPad, then in the case of the iPhone and, moreover, Airpods, such naming raises certain questions. However, the developers have more or less intelligible answers to them. the functions of double active noise cancellation and “transparent” mode, for example, are quite capable of making the new headphones suitable for professional use in some areas. And of course, the novelty has a real Pro-price of 20,990 rubles.

Processor and performance Airpods Pro and Airpods 2

Despite a host of new features, the Airpods Pro are powered by the same Apple H1 processor as the 2nd generation Airpods. 10-core chip provides excellent audio sync speed when connected via Bluetooth 5.0, and also enables near real-time active noise cancellation.

Airpods Pro sound vs. Airpods 2

With Active Noise Cancellation and Adaptive EQ features described above, Apple Airpods can offer users noticeably clearer, better sound.

In addition, an amplifier is integrated into the system, which optimizes the processes of suppression of extraneous noise and volume control, as well as a driver with a wide amplitude and low distortion of sound waves for rich reproduction of low frequencies.

Airpods Pro vs Airpods 2: How Apple‘s 2019 Wireless Earbuds Are Different

By the beginning of the season of Christmas sales, Apple, without a special event or announcement, launched the new branded Airpods Pro headphones, which are equipped with active noise cancellation and adaptive equalizer systems. What is the difference with ordinary Airpods. we understand the material below.
