Functional

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro model is equipped with all the necessary functions for regular health monitoring. Huawei TruSeen ™ 4.0 allows you to monitor the heart rate, and when it increases, it will notify the owner of the Smartwatch. In addition, the device has a popular function. supplying blood with oxygen. You can check this indicator at any time and anywhere. Huawei TruSleep ™ 2.0 technology is designed to solve sleep problems in the device. It helps to identify the cause, and also checks the breathing and pulse when the person is resting. After collecting the data, the user can get an estimate of their sleep. Huawei TruRelax ™ also helps you manage stress and monitors stress levels throughout the day.

For meteorological users or people who observe the weather, there are also necessary functions. The device sends weather warnings and forecasts for the coming days. In addition, lovers of the starry sky receive all the detailed information about it by watching the map with constellations on the screen. The clock shows the time of the tides and phases of the moon, as well as the times of sunrise and sunset.

The gadget makes it possible to significantly improve your physical fitness. It has a voice assistant that will tell you important points during sports. than a hundred different types of workouts are included in the Smartwatch. The device automatically recognizes the type of workout when a person starts to exercise. For general health monitoring, VO2max is also monitored to know how much oxygen is consumed by the user during exercise and sports.

The model is equipped with a personal golf coach. Thanks to him, you can master your favorite hobby and significantly improve your results. Also, the device is useful for winter sports. When skiing or snowboarding, you can get useful information, as well as warnings when values go outside the norm.

Autonomy

The smartwatch has a 455 mAh lithium-ion battery. The model is charged using wireless charging technology. The battery lasts for 2 weeks with normal use. If the gadget is actively used, then the battery will last about five days. With the GPS module continuously running, the battery will last for about 30 hours. The watch can also be charged using reverse charging.

Display

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro has a 1.39-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 454 by 454 pixels. Text and images are clearly visible. The sensor in the display quickly responds with swipes. The front part is covered with a sapphire crystal from scratches and other damages. The user can choose a dial for himself from more than a hundred options. For convenience, there are both functional versions and animated dials.

Appearance

I spent quite a long time with the first generation HUAWEI Watch GT, even wrote a detailed review of this device.

This gadget attracts me not only by its appearance, but also by its long battery life, the accuracy of calculating the heart rate (I go to a fitness club, and for me this is an important parameter), a large number of sports modes, including the rare elliptical trainer.

New Watch GT 2 has become even more interesting: design, calls and much more.

I had a 46mm GT 2 version in my hands. The watch looks, of course, amazing: an absolutely black case, an original combination of a black matte metal base and a black glossy metal bezel, on which there is a scale for determining the speed (tachymeter). The most unusual thing about the GT 2 is that the display now has no borders, meaning it is aligned with the bezel. All manipulations with the display are made even more comfortable, because when swiping, your finger does not touch the edge of the watch. However, the matrix itself is slightly recessed into the case, as it is protected by durable glass.

The bezel is slightly tilted. It transitions relatively smoothly to the side edges of the device.

The bottom of the watch is made of plastic for a more pleasant touch of the device with the hand.

The sports version of the GT 2 comes with a black silicone strap (22l) with a classic rectangular locking mechanism on the arm. It is designed for both very narrow wrists and wide ones. In my case, there were still 5-8 holes (depending on the position of the watch. below or above the head of the ulna) for installing a buckle with a tongue.

The strap is the same as in other watches from this company, so it can be rearranged, for example, if you already have a HUAWEI wrist gadget.

In general, the design of the new device looks like a kind of rethinking of the familiar round electronic watch, where the display is aligned with the bezel.

On the right side of the Watch GT 2 case are two standard mechanical large buttons. They are not accidentally pressed even when the wrist is flexed to the maximum. One button is responsible for entering the menu, and the other for activating sports modes. The lower one can be reassigned to any of the available watch functions.

A speaker is located just below between the buttons. Yes, the new HUAWEI watch is now able to communicate with the user: all commands are voiced by the male voice of a real person. Surprisingly, the volume is high, and the sound is high-quality, clear. For example, in a hall where music is playing and, in general, the atmosphere is noisy, the voice of the “coach” can be heard from the clock without any problems. The “trainer” announces the beginning or end of the workout, every 10 minutes announces the results of your classes.

There is a microphone on the left side of the device. Bottom. a contact group for connecting power, two sensors each and LEDs for illuminating the sensors.

Yes, I did not say about the dimensions and weight. They are quite familiar to me, since before GT 2 I used the first generation and lived. did not grieve. The novelty in this regard is almost the same, which is good.

Notifications and calls

HUAWEI Watch GT 2 can display notifications from any applications installed on your smartphone with the Health app.

All notifications are “poured” on the watch and are in a separate window, which is called up by swiping from the bottom up. The message has an icon corresponding to the program, a short description of the message text.

By clicking on the message, you will be taken to another window with more complete information. Almost the entire “tweet” (about 250 characters) already fits here, if you cite the application as an example. The same happens with other notifications. You cannot answer them, there are no templates either.

The new version of the Watch GT 2 has the ability to receive calls. Communication is established via a Bluetooth connection, that is, the GT 2 act as a headset. Thanks to BT 5.1 on the clock, you can communicate up to 150 meters in a straight line. I checked in a fitness club: there were no problems at a distance of 50-100 meters. He could also be in the apartment with a clock, for example, in the kitchen, and the telephone in the room. Commendable result.

The interlocutor can be heard clearly and legibly, no overloads, wheezing and third-party sounds. An example of a conversation on a smartphone (voice transmission from the watch) can be downloaded here, and in the video below. how the clock reproduces the voice.

Agree that the voice is transmitted perfectly, there is no impression that the watch acts as a headset, as if you are talking on the phone.

In addition, you can add up to 10 contacts to the Health app. It is they who are easy to call directly from the watch.

Working hours

HUAWEI Watch GT 2 has a 455 mAh Li-ion battery inside.

The smartwatch is powered by the Kirin A1 chipset, built around energy-efficient Cortex-M7 cores that consume 10mA / MHz, well below the industry average of 30mA / MHz. This allows the Watch GT 2 with a 46 mm case to work without recharging for up to 14 days in a typical use scenario and up to 30 hours with a continuously activated GPS tracker.

In addition, it is worth noting that the watch has a constant time display mode, which consumes energy. In this case, the clock functions in a typical scenario for about a week.

In general, the operating time of the new item completely satisfied me, since the closest competitors withstand at best three days without a charge.

The Watch GT 2 is charged from the adapter, which is familiar from the previous generation, equipped with a magnetic holder. The battery is 100% powered for one and a half hours.

Other functions

The new watch received an optical sensor for monitoring heart rate, a six-axis gyroscope and an accelerometer, thanks to which the device is able to accurately measure linear and angular acceleration in all three planes. This allows the Watch GT 2 to recognize virtually any hand movement and monitor heart rate changes over extended workouts, including marathon runs and open water swims, made possible by a waterproof case with water resistance up to 50 meters.

I noticed that compared to the previous generation of HUAWEI watches, the measurement accuracy has increased, or rather, the number of moments when the sensor did not measure data due to a certain position of the hand and other cases in active training mode has decreased.

There was a measurement of the stress level on a scale from 0 to 100, where 100. everything is bad 🙂 In general, the measurement was correct: I specifically looked at the data at the beginning of the next series “The Rookie”. the clock showed around 70 points. But at the end of the episode everything was already much calmer. 30-40 points.

In order to revive yourself, you can use the “Breathing Exercises” application built into the watch. After a minute of doing the exercise, you feel really calmer.

The HUAWEI Watch GT 2 has 15 sports modes, including eight outdoor activities (running, walking, hiking, trail running, cycling, open water swimming, and triathlon) and seven indoor activities (walking, running, riding cycling, swimming in the pool, free workouts, elliptical and rowing machines). During training, the watch collects data on approximately 190 parameters and offers professional recommendations for improving results.

Another unique feature is the music player. Thanks to the built-in memory of 4 GB, it became possible to listen to songs both on the watch and on Bluetooth headphones to which the Watch GT 2 is connected. Very convenient.

I have no questions about the rest of the functions: the vibration is average, the GPS is lightning fast, you can set at least seven alarms, there is a flashlight, a stopwatch and even a barometer with an electronic compass.

Display

The display of this model is round, the diagonal is 1.39 inches, or 35.5 mm. Screen resolution. 454×454 pixels, AMOLED matrix technology.

Compared to the previous generation, it seems to me that the contrast and brightness have increased. The brightness in the settings can be set either manually (5 bars are available), or automatically. In light and even in direct sunlight, the screen is easy to read. No distortion at corners.

And once again I would like to emphasize the surface of the screen: there is an oleophobic coating, the finger glides well, and most importantly, it does not rest against the side edges of the bezel!

Introduction

HUAWEI at the end of October announced the start of sales of its new generation smartwatch. Watch GT 2, which is based on the Kirin A1 chipset, designed specifically for wearable devices.

The watch is produced in two versions: with a dial diameter of 42 mm and 46 mm. As the manufacturer notes, in comparison with the first generation of Watch GT, the new version received a longer battery life, additional sports training modes, a music player function with storage for about 500 tracks, as well as the ability to make calls using a Bluetooth connection.

Design

Smartwatch Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro has a design similar to the previous model: a round display and two buttons on the right side of the case.

But the premium look comes from a sapphire crystal, a ceramic back and a titanium frame around the screen. Thanks to titanium, the case is lightweight, durable and minimally prone to damage from impact. The ceramic lid is waterproof, high temperature resistant and scratch resistant.

Upon purchase, the user is given a choice of straps: silicone for sports lovers (Sport model) and leather for daily wear (Classic model).

Characteristics

However, regular intensive use provides 5 to 10 days of battery life, and in continuous GPS tracking mode. up to 30 hours.

This is the first watch from Huawei to offer wireless charging. What’s more, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3, it is compatible with at least four Qi chargers, charging in less than half an hour. Plus, you can even charge them from compatible Huawei smartphones.

  • Well no

The main expert and consultant in the actively developing area. Smart watches and fitness trackers. Always strives for new knowledge and professional development in the field of high technologies.

Smart running

Fun function. Allows you to compete in running with artificial intelligence or with yourself. On the screen in the settings, you need to set a certain distance for running. When you run, a simulation of the run will appear on the display. If it stops, the animation on the display will also stop and the AI silhouette will continue to run. The goal is to catch up with him, and achieve the set result.

Up to 14 days on a single charge

The smartwatch from Huawei is equipped with a 455 mAh battery. This is a large enough volume for such a device. Therefore, in standby mode without recharging, you can do up to 14 days. If you actively use the watch with a working GPS tracker, a full charge will last for about 30 hours. Long battery life is also provided by the energy-efficient Kirin A1 processor, which is based on two Cortex-M7 cores.

Saturated bright

The screen of the smart watch is large enough, its diagonal is 1.39 inches, and the resolution is 454 by 454 pixels. The AMOLED matrix was taken as a basis. Even if you look at the screen from an angle, the image will not be distorted. Compared to previous models, the picture is displayed more vividly and vividly. Any information can be viewed in detail even in sunlight. Therefore, there are no complaints about the display of the Smart-watch.

As for the touch control, it is here at a high level. Thanks to the oleophobic coating, the finger glides easily over the surface, and most importantly does not rest against the bezel, as it was on other models.

The settings allow you to display the time even when the screen is off. There are only two displays to choose from. an analog or digital dial. This mode is called AOD. It automatically adjusts the brightness based on the time of day and light level. But the mode when using this mode, it should be remembered that the charge will be consumed twice as fast.

Maximum oxygen consumption

The smartwatch is capable of detecting VO2max. By activating GPS, you can find out the exact data that are important for your health. If there is no desire to understand the indicators and look for data decryption, the application will display the results in the following form: “good / average / bad”.

In addition, the Huawei Watch GT 2 can measure stress levels. Measurements are made on a scale from 0 to 100.

The “Music Player” function will be useful for every active user. 4 GB is reserved for downloading tracks. You can listen to music directly on the watch through the speaker, or using wireless headphones.

For example, if you sync with your iPhone, you cannot use the stress measurement function, you cannot download music to your device, and you cannot change watch faces. But what is there to be surprised at, the complete restrictions from Apple and the reluctance to allow competitors to their system.

Calls and notifications

All notifications that come to the phone are displayed on the watch in a separate window. They are marked with an icon that matches the application. You can read new notifications from and other social networks, but you cannot reply to them.

It is possible to answer phone calls using Bluetooth. In the device settings, you can add up to 10 phone numbers and call them right from your wrist. The maximum distance between watch and phone is 150 meters. During a conversation, the interlocutor is heard clearly and without distortion.

Huawei Watch GT 2 review: a long-playing smartwatch

Smart watch Huawei Watch GT 2 is a rather unusual novelty from the Chinese company. They work on their own operating system, are able to receive calls, notifications and are also protected from water. In addition, the battery life is good news. up to 14 days. Few watches with such extensive functionality can boast such a result. I honestly tested them every day for a month and to be honest, I was practically satisfied.

The review went to the Huawei Watch GT 2 at 46 mm. They look great on both female and male hands. But with a business suit, I hardly put them on, and any smart watch in general. Although their case allows them to be disguised, and all thanks to the large selection of dials and the function of the always-on display, which two types of dials can display. digital and analog.

Functional

The smartwatch has a large number of functions that are related to sports and health. They support a large number of sports programs.

You can use the following workouts:
Treadmill;
A ride on the bicycle;
Ellipse;
Exercise bike;
Walking in the street;
Cross-country running;
Running courses;
Running on the street and others.

When you select Run Courses, 13 more different running programs are available. You can independently set a certain number of steps that you need to go through in a day. If the goal is achieved, a medal appears on the screen. The same feature is on the Apple Watch.

Unfortunately, the watch cannot be automatically paused. If you stop for a couple of minutes while exercising, the device will still count your activity. training data can be obtained by activating the GPS function.

Many competitors cannot boast of such indicators, which makes Huawei Watch GT 2 one of the best in terms of autonomy.

Most smartwatches can work for at least three days without recharging.

The device charges quickly using the familiar charging “washer” with a magnetic holder. The battery charges from 0 to 100% in just an hour and a half.

Classics, sports and glamor

The Huawei Watch GT 2 is available in classic and sporty designs. If you choose the classic, then the set will include a leather strap, but in the sports version the user will receive a silicone.

The display looks good, quickly responds to touch, and it is quite convenient to manage all the functionality. According to Huawei, 3D glass was used for the screen, which is a mystery. The metal base of the case looks stylish and expensive. For the back of the case, plastic is used to make the watch feel comfortable on the wrist.

There are two buttons on the right side of the case, which were present on previous models. One is responsible for quickly activating sports modes, and the other is for entering the menu. Personally, I was the first to have the habit of pushing without permission if the hand bent during push-ups. Therefore, accidental pressing is not excluded. Although the mechanical buttons themselves are not as tight as we would like, but I can’t say that they play and press easily.

The watch is equipped with a speaker, which is located practically between the buttons. To the surprise of many interlocutors, the sound is detailed and loud.

On the back there is a magnetic charger and sensors for measuring heart rate.

Review of Smart-watches Huawei Watch GT 2 46 mm. Interface, controls and notifications

Despite the active development of the new Harmony OS announced by Huawei, the Watch GT2 is based on another development of the company. LiteOS. And this system fully lives up to its name, it does not allow installing third-party applications, downloading additional watch faces at most, but at the same time offers almost all the functionality necessary in a smart / sports watch.

The interface of this system is quite simple and consists of a main screen with a dial, swiping to the right or left, you can access information panels with data on heart rate, stress level, weather, activity, as well as audio playback with control buttons.

Unfortunately, they cannot be customized or deleted those that are rarely used. In general, personalization in Huawei Watch GT 2 consists only in changing the dials, there are no other customization options for yourself.

If you pull the screen with the dial from top to bottom, the quick settings panel will open, and from the bottom up. incoming notifications.

The main control of the watch interface is through the touchscreen display, but there are also two mechanical keys on the case. The top one is responsible for calling the main menu and returning to the main screen with a dial. And the lower one by default opens a menu with a choice of exercises, such as running, cycling, swimming and more, but it can be customized by choosing another action.

By default, the watch screen turns off if it is not used for more than 5 seconds and automatically turns on with a characteristic turn of the hand when you need to see the time. But there is an option with an always active display, in this form it is dimmed, dial animations are reduced to a minimum and only the clock is displayed. Nevertheless, this still negatively affects the autonomy, it is almost halved in this mode.

Huawei Watch GT 2 can show notifications that come to a smartphone, for example, messages in a messenger or email. But you can only see them on the watch, and even then not always completely. You cannot do any additional actions with notifications, be it a banal deletion of a message or the ability to quickly respond to it with a short phrase. In this regard, the device is very simple.

Fortunately, it is possible to either turn off alerts completely, or choose the programs from which they will be displayed on the watch. This is implemented through the Huawei Health app, which will be discussed below.

Huawei Watch GT 2 design and straps

Externally, the new watch has changed minimally compared to last year’s Watch GT. The main innovations took place around their display, in the previous version it was covered with glass, which was framed by a metal frame around the perimeter. At the same time, the screen itself was slightly recessed into the case.

But the Huawei Watch GT 2 abandoned this decision, preferring an all-glass panel that covers both the display and the entire upper part of the case, smoothly flowing into the metal edges.

The bottom of the watch has changed minimally, now it is round, like the front, it is still made of matte plastic and contains a block with an optical heart rate sensor.

The design of the Huawei Watch GT 2 can be considered a classic watch, creating it in the company clearly inspired by such models as the Omega Speedmaster (this watch was on Buzz Aldrin during the landing on the Moon in 1969) and the Rolex Submariner. But depending on the strap used and the selected dial, the appearance of the Huawei Watch GT 2 can be changed towards a more sporty one.

As already written above, the set includes two straps at once: leather and silicone with a width of 22 mm, as well as a girth from 140 to 210 mm. In addition, the watch uses a standard fastening system, so the complete straps can be replaced with any others with the same width.

The dimensions of the Huawei Watch GT 2 are 45.9 x 45.9 x 10.7 mm, and the weight without strap is 41 grams. The watch turned out to be as large as the previous version, so for those looking for a more compact model, the company also offers a version in a 42 mm case with 20 mm straps.

In addition, the new Huawei watch has 5ATM water and dust resistance with the ability to be immersed in water to a depth of 50 meters for up to 10 minutes. But the manufacturer does not recommend diving in them.

Huawei Watch GT 2 sports features

As befits a modern smartwatch, the Huawei Watch GT 2 can count steps, continuously measure heart rate, track sleep and exercise. The latter include outdoor running and cycling, pool and open water swimming, rock climbing, rowing, stationary bike, orbitrek, and triathlon.

In addition, the watch has 13 running courses for different levels of physical fitness, so you can start training immediately, without having to search for them and additionally download them.

For example, while you run, the watch collects data on training duration, calories burned, average pace and average speed, cadence, ascent and descent altitude, and calculates the predicted VO2Max level. And during the run, they continuously measure the pulse, and they do it quite accurately, if the watch is tightly fastened two centimeters from the wrist. Like most other manufacturers, Huawei uses an optical heart rate sensor with a green laser and photocells that detect the movement of blood in the veins. The disadvantage of this technology is the insufficiently accurate measurement of the pulse in water, but otherwise, modern optical sensors lag minimally behind the accuracy of the chest.

Unfortunately, Huawei Watch GT 2 is not able to automatically detect the type of physical activity, therefore, if you go for a run and do not start tracking manually, the activity will not be saved. On the other hand, a “cold start” of a device with GPS takes 20-30 seconds in an urban environment, except for the first start, which can take several minutes without a smartphone. The GPS module itself determines the position of the clock quite accurately, within a few meters, but the denser the building around, the less accurate.

In addition to sports functions, Huawei Watch GT 2 also helps to monitor your health. They count the steps taken, remind you to get up to warm up, periodically count the pulse and warn if it has increased significantly or, on the contrary, has become too low, and also track sleep, determining its duration and quality. Well, those who do not want to wake up from the alarm clock can wake up the watch with a light vibration.

Contents of delivery

The watch is sold in a solid box, inside which you can find the device itself, a leather strap, a magnetic charger, and a USB Type-A to Type-C cable for it.

Display and equipment

Huawei Watch GT 2 received a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 454×454 pixels, which allows it to form an image with a pixel density of 326 per inch. In turn, this makes the picture on the screen quite clear, at least it is difficult to see individual pixels even on closer inspection.

The quality of the matrix is at the level of last year’s model with the characteristic AMOLED displays, colorful color reproduction and deep blacks. The brightness of the screen is automatically adjusted within 5 gradations thanks to the ambient light sensor, in dim light it will be practically at a minimum, but in sunny weather it will become maximum, which will allow you to comfortably read information from the display on the street.

The entire Watch GT2 hardware platform is built around the new Kirin A1 chip, first unveiled at IFA 2019 along with FreeBuds 3 wireless headphones. Huawei developed this system-on-a-chip specifically for wearable devices, and the company managed to fit a processor, RAM, Bluetooth 5.1 module, signal processor, energy management unit and sensor unit. The latter includes an altimeter, gyroscope, accelerometer, barometer and digital compass. The Kirin A1 platform has enough performance to comfortably use the LiteOS interface.

The amount of memory built into the watch is 4 GB, of which 2.3 GB is available to the user. This is enough to download new watch faces to the device, as well as several Playlists with music. And this is one of the innovations in the Huawei Watch GT 2 compared to the previous version, because now you can connect wireless headphones directly to them to listen to music, for example, while running. At the same time, it also became possible to control music playback on a smartphone from the watch.

Another new feature in this model is working as a wireless headset. Now the watch not only shows information about an incoming call, but also allows you to receive it without taking your smartphone out of your. The built-in speaker in the Watch GT2 turned out to be very loud, although its size is not enough for clear sound. But in order to comfortably talk on the speakerphone through the clock in the car, such a speaker is enough.

Huawei Health App

To connect the watch to a smartphone, the wireless Bluetooth protocol is used and you must first install the Huawei Health app, which is available on both Android and iOS.

Basically, it is a centralized hub where the user can see the number of steps taken, minutes of activity, last exercise, heart rate, sleep, weight and stress level. It also implements the connection of Huawei devices, as well as the ability to configure and update them.

Huawei Health has a fairly user-friendly interface with large blocks on the main screen, a section with exercises, connected devices and user data.

All the information collected for hours is illustrated with beautiful graphs, while there are decryptions for most of the data, which allow you to better assess your activity and level of training.

Autonomy Huawei Watch GT 2

The battery built into the watch has a capacity of 455 mAh, which is enough for two weeks of active use. Running 5.5 km with active GPS takes only 3% of the battery charge, while Huawei claims that the device can continuously determine the position via satellites on a single charge for as long as 30 hours, which will be useful for those who run ultramarathon distances.

The Watch GT2 is charged by a small circular plastic panel with magnetic connectors, and it takes 2 hours to fully charge.
