Xiaomi Mi TV remote does not work

Mi remote Xiaomi does not work. Problem solving

Mi remote Xiaomi does not work, we will consider all possible problems, and their solutions.

  • What to do if an error is written when I press the TV on the remote.
  • Mi remote Xiaomi does not work after updating, help to solve the problem.
  • Does anyone know how to add to the list of devices?
  • Now I can control an old LG CRT, Viasat tuner, Microlab Solo 5C speakers and an old Olympus camera. Most versatile app.
  • The TV does not respond to the Xiaomi remote control, what to do?

Missing app

To work with the controller, you will have to install the program through the Play Market. For this:

  • Launching the market application.
  • Enter the name Remote.
  • Download and install.

After that, you need to configure the application through the button. By clicking it, you can add a device. The program already contains an aLGorithm for connecting to the remote control.

If all else fails, try to find a similar configuration and do it all over again. Not all household appliances are supported by the utility.

Mi remote Xiaomi does not work.

Even by 2019, individual tablets, phones, and other Xiaomi products were not released with infrared ports. Which called into question the ability to control with remotes. The old gadgets of certain lines were still controlled via the infrared port:

  • Mi.
  • Redmi.
  • Selected Note Models.

The MIUI shell already has a preinstalled Remote utility that allows you to control almost any equipment. However, if there is no program, then it will have to be downloaded additionally. If you cannot connect the TV (for example), then try disabling additional communication channels (Wi-Fi).

Updates problem

Some firmware versions are characterized by serious problems in integrating the remote control with individual gadgets. In February 2020, users began to notice the following:

A simple way to solve the problem: clear the program cache, try to connect. If it doesn’t help, then reinstall both the widget and the management utility. The fact is that 2 components are related to each other, and reinstalling one will definitely not solve the problem. Therefore, you need:

  • Clear cache for Peel widget.
  • Clear Mi Remote Data.
  • Check functionality.

If it doesn’t work, then both components are reinstalled, not one. After that, you will need to re-configure the integration with the device. This method fixes 99% of problems.

Microcracks of the screen are fraught with a break in the power circuit. If this happens, then you will have to change the screen. Fortunately, in China, they are several times cheaper.

It happens, and the malfunction lies in the incorrect installation of the SIM card or flash drive. Try to take them out and check what will happen.

A map with problems can be repaired by restoring broken clusters using a PC.

If shaken, a poorly positioned plug from the display may fall out. What will entail the disconnection of the image transmission module, or partial disconnection.

Remove the cover of the device, and plug the ribbon cable into the socket. If it is inserted, take it out and insert it. In this case, do not forget to disconnect the power cable from the battery.

When the quality of the pixels is determined, and among them it was possible to find “burnt out”, you can start looking for applications that will correct the situation:

  • JScreenFix is easy to use, you need to use the Fix Stuck Pixels button to get started. The developer promises 30 minutes to complete this operation, but the service center masters recommend leaving the devices. Not less than 10-12 hours for a more complete check;
  • Pixel Fixer: Another program similar to JScreenFix. To restore pixels, you also need to click on the green button;
  • Dead Pixel Treatment: The platform does more than test a mobile phone for dead pixels. And then “heals” them, but at the same time reveals other defects in the display.

Actions how to act in such a situation

Changing graphics to low resolution will help. You want to limit the power consumption mode. Do not continue to play when the phone charger is on. Remove the phone from the case, allow general ventilation of the case. Disconnect the phone, remove the battery.

If the smartphone has been in a damp room or has been exposed to moisture. This is especially true for the USB input, and leakage into the smartphone. Oxides can lead to current leakage, which can heat up the machine. To fix, you need to clean the USB. Take a thin stick and wrap a cotton swab around it. Dip it in white spirit or alcohol, and wipe the contacts at the entrance.

If water gets inside, then you need to disassemble Meizu. And, carry out the same operation with the contacts that are attached to the board. But, before doing this, disconnect the battery cable to avoid short circuits.

If the microphone does not work for Meizu M8, for this you need to do the following:.

Open the security settings, look for root access and press accept, restart the device. Open the “phone” and enter this combination ### or ###. Scroll to the right and find “Hardware Testing”. audio. Audio Playback set the Heaset PGA value to 160. Exit the menu and restart the phone.

Also, programmatic methods can be applied. But, they can only help if there are no faults in the device itself. This method is one of the simplest, we open the settings on the mobile phone. And, select the command “reset settings”. Keep in mind that this means deleting all data from your smartphone.

To not disturb the stripes on the Meizu M8 screen, you need:

  • Make sure the integrity and reconnect the display module loop;
  • Replace the screen completely if there is real damage;
  • Update Flyme firmware and shell.

In the first situation, contact could simply be broken. The connection came loose due to a shock, the contacts are clogged, or the display was not fully connected at the factory.

In the second case, it is recommended to contact a warranty specialist or an independent workshop. The third option indicates that you bought a phone with an outdated software version. Which has flaws fixed in updates.

To carry out this procedure, you need:

  • Enter the device settings;
  • Select the item “about phone”;
  • In the submenu, you will need to select the check for updates. when you turn on Wi-Fi, everything will start downloading;
  • The device will reboot.

The appearance of stripes during use can be eliminated immediately after purchase by updating. This does not void your warranty. Unlike a full flashing or self-repair during the same period.

A banal method, it’s just to log into your account on the device.
Click below on the item “Delete Mi Account”.

In this case, the account will be disconnected from the mobile phone. The message will no longer appear when the device is booting.

If Xiaomi has lost sound, you should first check the audio settings. If there is an active mode (with sound), then we continue to look for the problem.

Needed. clean the headphone jack.

If the headset icon is lit on the screen of the Xiaomi smartphone, and the headphones are not connected, then the contacts have shorted. Therefore, the sound is transmitted to the headphones, although they are not physically connected.

After cleaning, restart your phone.

If during a call the interlocutor hears you poorly, then this function may be disabled. Go to the settings “sound and vibration” and move the slider “noise reduction” to the value “on”.

If it is activated, and crackling and noise during a conversation are present, then try turning off the function.

The built-in mobile assistant can also interfere with normal microphone operation. Go to the “settings” menu, search for “Google”. Next, turn off the “voice recognizer” function.
Restart your Xiaomi phone.

Account reset can be done using Xiaomi support.

To do this, you must have documents on your phone. to confirm that it is not stolen.

How to talk to Xiaomi tech support.

Go to your type mail service and log in.

Click to create a message. In the first line, we write this address: mishu@Xiaomi.com Or this one: service.us@Xiaomi.com In the subject you can write (Unlocking my account). You must write in English. Use online translator.

Next, we write what is required. I want to reset my Mi account on Xiaomi redmi 6a. This procedure is long and can take 2. 3 weeks.

We choose English and any country;

We make an Internet connection using Wi-Fi or cellular data;

Go to “Privacy Policy” and select any piece of text. On the right, click on the three dots, “Web Search” and “Google App”. Next, we can go to the settings by clicking on the “Settings” entry. We are looking for the item “About Phone” and click on it.

After entering, click on the “Software version (Miui version)”, which you need to quickly click several (about 5) times, until a notification about the granting of “Developer rights” appears. We return and go to “Second Space”, and then “Turn on second space”.

Here a second space is created and the device is already quite ready for use. Nevertheless, after the reboot, everything will be reset and you have to do everything again, so we continue. Go to the settings, then “About Phone”, “Additional Settings” and “Developer menu”. Move the toggle USB Debugging to the enable position.

We connect to the computer using USB and launch Switch. Download “Minimal Adb and Fastboot” and turn it on. We pass to the first desktop, and on the computer we type “adb devices”. Here we enter the following command: adb (input command) shell pm uninstall (parameters) –k –user 0 (values) com.Xiaomi.finddevice (connection with the server);

Delete “Find my phone”.

Nuances after such a decoupling.

After that, the gadget is ready for full operation: you can go online, use various programs, etc.

However, it should be noted that it will not be possible to use Xiaomi services. Which is due to the lack of the account itself. On the Xiaomi account, there are many complaints from users, due to poorly executed software, and it is quite logical that it is deleted.

Xiaomi Mi TV 4S 65

Advantages:
Color, sound, ease of control, price and quality

Advantages:
Very good TV for my money

Comment:
Many people swear at the picture quality in reviews, I checked everything, it depends on the quality of the content. See new items 30 gigs, the quality sucks, 7 gig of blurs Rip, it’s amazing. Very good TV

Advantages:
Big, good picture, light.

Disadvantages:
Sometimes the Android is stupid, you have to reboot

Comment:
Overall very satisfied at home. whole cinema

Disadvantages:
Matrix quality. It makes a lot of noise in dark scenes. 4K goes hard

Advantages:
cheap with modern remote control

Comment:
not suitable for home use at all, no more than for displaying photos for advertising purposes or presentations.

Xiaomi, remote, does, work

Advantages:
Android TV, big screen. Even 360p is watchable

Disadvantages:
Not exactly flaws, rather just good instead of great.
Was taken instead of 8-year-old LCD Sonya 46. It just feels like something is wrong with the image compared to Sonya. But even today, 65 Sonya is 2 times more expensive.
The sound is also flatter, lacks bass, but not critical, just good.
It turns on slowly (10 seconds) and at the same time there are no indicators that it turns on, and the button on the remote control is tight, you will not understand if you pressed it or not. I would kick after clicking, there would be no problem.

Comment:
For the money, the telly is excellent. If the toad hadn’t been strangled, Sonya would have taken it. I wanted Androyd TV, after all, 2020 is behind us. 4K has not yet been eaten. Private sector, blunt internet, 100 gig torrent download for a week.

Comment:
I watched a lot of reviews and read comments, many people write that the remote control flies when updating, someone writes that after the update the voice assistant does not work, people do not write nonsense, I have already updated many times and everything works with a bang! The telly works just fine, in general, there are no jambs at all, take it you won’t regret it.

Advantages:
Well, for this price of 65 inches, there is no choice. Only junk by shares.
The remote didn’t look very good, but it sits perfectly in the hand and works too. Normal channels look blurry, of course. Watching only HD is comfortable and higher. This is not a minus of this TV, but in general. I did not find any more minuses. Loudspeakers for 26 sq.m. enough with a margin.

Disadvantages:
I can’t connect only 100Mbps on 1Gbps cable. There is no plain description, it is generally possible or not.
So far I have not been able to connect an xbox gamepad to play games with children. It is installed on a smartphone without problems, but here something does not cling by default. I haven’t figured out why yet. Mouse and keyboard clings without problems.

Advantages:
Excellent image, 4K with a bang, watching movies, TV shows is a pleasure. Wi-Fi at a frequency of 5GHz works with a bang, at first I thought to connect via ethernet, like Wi-Fi it is also in Africa Wi-Fi, friezes, etc., but refused this idea, everything works as it should work, no cables except for the power cable. Android OS, as always, pleases, third-party applications are installed with a bang, puts any APK without problems (problems start further, in case of incompatibility =)).

Disadvantages:
The most basic drawback. sound. Weak, low frequencies are lacking in particular. If you are a lover of watching a movie, joining the atmosphere of the movie it is immediately necessary to take additional equipment. how much is the budget. At least with an external subwoofer, it’s a completely different story, already much more interesting.
The second drawback is the remote control. Yes, this is an excellent remote control, bluetooth, no IR connection, but it’s rather simple, it lacks even the same mute button. although for that kind of money, is it worth complaining.

Comment:
In general, I liked the TV very much, especially for this budget, after a couple of months of use I would take it again if I had such a choice without hesitation, and it was 165 cm.On the wall of a small room it looks great.

Features of the

The complexity of the firmware is that Xiaomi Mi Box s / 3/4 runs on Android TV 8.1. (Oreo is the eighth version of the Android mobile operating system).

Compared to regular Android, the new version:

  • does not have a navigation bar and status bar;
  • only those programs that are adapted for Android TV are displayed on the home screen;
  • has a global voice search in installed programs / Google Assistant;
  • has unique features;
  • the interface (theme) is adapted for the use of Google services and remote control;
  • supports Google Cast (ChromeCast).

The essence of the Miui firmware (based on the Android operating system) is to make the operation as easy as possible for the user. If the user begins to simplify the process even more. try to control from the phone, etc. then lags often occur. The complexity of management also lies in the fact that the developers did not take into account the possibility of localization into Russian. It is not fully implemented. Only general data have been translated. Adjust the screen, and the sound will have to be in English. The firmware uses a 64-bit kernel version 4.9.61. If you experience any glitches after updating the firmware, it’s best to do a factory reset and start over.

Mi Box firmware manual

For global firmware, you must prepare a USB cable in advance. Some craftsmen, in order not to spend money on purchasing a cable, look for old samples, solder them and use them in the future.

If you have any questions or complaints. let us know

  • connect by a simple principle. red to red, black to black;
  • disassemble the attachment with gentle movements;
  • remove the protective layer from the board;
  • for further recovery, take a PC, launch UBT and select the previously downloaded firmware;
  • add checkboxes as in the photo;
  • connect the cable to the set-top box (MDZ-16-AB) and to the computer port, hold down the testpoint;
  • connect the power;
  • wait for the system to complete the firmware;
  • wait a few minutes until the system processes the data.

Upon completion, the strip will turn green. Connect the set-top box to your TV and test the results. Please note that the first connection takes some time.

HELLO! I ACCIDENTALLY DID NOT CLEAR THE CHECK WHEN I FLASHED Mi box s and it stopped seeing the remote control

Mini review of the excellent G20S remote for Android TV boxes

The most popular and sane remotes for Android TV at the moment: Q5 (-A.M), G10 (S), T1 (-M). Each of them has drawbacks, but in general they are high-quality remotes.

G20 (S) is a further development of G10 (S). It is devoid of the main drawbacks that significantly affected the usability of the remote control. flat buttons that felt bad tactilely, and a double Home / Back button. There are two modifications of the remote control. The G20 is a version without a gyroscope, i.e. in mouse mode, if needed, the cursor is controlled with the D-pad. G20S is a version with a gyroscope, i.e. with air mouse function.

The remote comes in an unnamed box. Model G20S has an additional sticker “6 axis Gyroscope”.

Inside: remote control, USB receiver, brief instructions in English and Chinese.

The remote control works via a radio interface. Requires two AAA batteries to operate. There is one programmable IR button (power).

Here’s a size comparison from left to right: Xiaomi Mi Box remote (MDZ-16-AB), G20s, Nvidia Shield TV remote (P2930).

  • Everything works right away on Nvidia Shield TV, Ugoos AM3 with Android TV firmware, boxes with Android TV firmware based on Minix Neo U9-H and others. Connect the receiver and go.
  • Very ergonomic. Sits comfortably in the hand. There are practically no imprints on the case. The only complaint is the shape of the Back and Home buttons.
  • The buttons click softly (a little louder than in the Xiaomi Mi Box remote). They are not pressed hard. Short stroke.
  • The center D-pad button gives the ENTER code, not DPAD_CENTER. The D-pad itself is similar in shape to the Xiaomi Mi Box remote control.
  • The power button is double. it can work both by IR and RF. When not programmed, the POWER code is sent by RF. When it is programmed (copied from another device), the copied code is sent by IR.
  • The duration of holding the power button for IR programming is long enough not to interfere with the long press of the power button to invoke the power menu in systems.
  • There is no need to double-press the buttons to wake up the remote control and perform an action. Those. in any state, press any button on the remote control, and it immediately fulfills the action.
  • The “microphone” button gives the Google Assistant code. VOICE_ASSIST (ie, Global Voice Search is activated).
  • The microphone is activated and works for about 20 seconds after pressing any button on the remote control (then falls asleep). You do not need to hold the microphone button. Those. you can simply select Google Assistant / Global Search on the Android TV home screen and the microphone will work. Those. the “microphone” button is not tied to the microphone itself in any way.
  • The quality of the microphone is perfect. The remote control is brought up to the mouth. perfect recognition, the remote control in the half-bent hand. perfect recognition, the remote control in the lowered hand. perfect recognition. You don’t have to speak loudly.
  • The gyroscope (air mouse) works flawlessly. Saves states, i.e. if you turned off the gyroscope with a button on the remote control, then neither restarting the box nor waking it up from sleep will turn it on, just press the button again.
  • The shape of the Back and Home buttons. It would be better if they were round like the rest.
  • The OK button, in the ideal case, should give the DPAD_CENTER code (it is easy to fix it if necessary, if the system has root).
  • I wish the volume buttons were IR programmable, just like the power button. Those. work by RF before programming and by IR after programming.

Conclusion. an almost ideal remote control for Android TV boxes, without significant drawbacks. It is difficult to estimate the operating time from one set of batteries, but considering that it is made on the same logic as the G10 (S), it should work for a very long time.

Design

The appearance of the player has not changed. it is a small black box a couple of centimeters high with rounded corners, similar to a smaller version of Apple TV with “slicked” edges.

The body is matte, completely plastic, fingerprints appear on it, although not as quickly as on glossy surfaces. There is an infrared receiver at the front on the side edge, all (very few) connectors are concentrated on the rear panel, there are no buttons on the body. From the connectors, you can find a full-size USB port, HDMI-out and a mini-jack, which combines an analog audio output with a digital optical one. The previous model also had a microSD card reader and a micro USB OTG connector for connecting peripheral devices, in the current model the manufacturer decided to abandon them.

The player stands on a rubberized ring, which noticeably reduces (although does not eliminate at all) slipping of the device on a smooth surface.

Remote control

“Remote control” also brings to mind Apple TV (previous generations). it is a small “bar” with a four-way joystick and a confirmation button inside. There are very few buttons here. turning on, adjusting the volume, activating the microphone and the system Android buttons “back” and “home”. The remote control lies well in the hand, the buttons are pressed easily and clearly. you can only find fault with the volume rocker, which is hard to feel blindly. The remote control works via Bluetooth, so it is not necessary to point it towards the player (the infrared receiver on the Mi Box case is, in fact, a “backup option” and, if desired, can be used in conjunction with a regular IR remote control).

Hardware platform

The player uses the SoC AMLogic S905X-H, which includes 4 Cortex-A53 cores operating at frequencies up to 2 GHz, and the Mali-450 video subsystem. There is 2 GB of RAM, there is also an internal storage of 8 GB (of which about 4 GB is available to the user). There is a USB 2.0 port for connecting external drives, Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, 2.4 / 5 GHz is responsible for connecting to the network (there is no wired connection here).

This chipset is not the most productive, and will not be suitable for “heavy” games. however, there are not many of them on Android TV, to put it mildly; and with its main task. the reproduction of media content. it copes perfectly.

Equipment

Obviously not in the box that the new Mi Box (to be precise, the model name is MDZ-16-AB, the interface designation is Mi Box 3) looks exactly the same as the old one. Inside you can find the player itself, a remote control, a power supply, an HDMI cable, and a quick start guide. In general, the set is quite sufficient, you can only complain about the length of the HDMI cable. one meter may not be enough. On the other hand, the player is so small that it will not be difficult to find a place for it under the TV.

Review of the media player Xiaomi Mi Box

social networks:

At one time, we already had an Android media player from Xiaomi in our editorial office. almost two years have passed, and here we have another player with the same name, outwardly a twin brother of the previous one. What is the difference?

Software

Unlike the player we reviewed earlier, which ran a regular version of Android, supplemented by its own launcher, the MDZ-16-AB model uses Android TV 6. I must say, this is a fairly rare case, players on “TV” Android are still very few (only three such models are indicated on the official website, including the Mi Box). Another important nuance. MDZ-16-AB is an international model, with full access to Google services.

In the past, we have already got acquainted with players on Android TV (see iNeXT TV 2 and Google Nexus Player), so we will not dwell on the features of this operating system in detail. the Mi Box shell is a “naked” Android TV with minimal interference from Xiaomi ( which can be attributed, in fact, only a section of the company’s recommended applications, which includes Netflix and Red Bull TV clients). Otherwise, everything is traditional here. announcements of several films, a list of installed applications, access to Google Play TVMovies, Games and Apps. And, of course, voice search: the key element of the Android TV system is fully available here, since a microphone is nevertheless built into the local remote control (unlike the same iNeXT TV 2). With its help, you can search for content in all applications installed on the system that support this function. both in English and in Russian. Speech recognition is very good, so voice search can be used here quite calmly as the main option, referring to text only as an exception.

Hardware platform, performance

Xiaomi has announced the release of a new Android TV media player in mid-summer. At the same time it was announced that it will be available in two versions: the basic Full HD, which was released in August, and the more “advanced” 4K HDR, which was promised a little later. At the time of this writing, it is still not on sale, so today we have a younger model, Xiaomi Mi TV Stick (FHD), for review.

The player uses an Amlogic SoC, which includes 4 Cortex-A53 cores operating at frequencies up to 1.5 GHz and a Mali-450 video subsystem (up to 750 MHz). There is 1 GB of RAM, there is also an internal storage of 8 GB (about 4 GB is available to the user).

According to unofficial leaks, the SoC installed in the Mi TV Stick is the S805Y. This is a budget solution for Full HD players, which is marginally faster than the S805X (mainly due to a slightly increased GPU frequency). S805Y chipset announced hardware support for decoding HEVC 1080p60 10-bit and VP9 1080p60 video.

Despite the fact that this chipset was presented quite recently, at the beginning of 2020, in terms of overall performance it turns out to be somewhat weaker than the S905L, which was used in the company’s previous player, Mi Box S. Apparently, Xiaomi decided that for the FHD version of their a new player, such a solution (and at the same time, the amount of RAM reduced by half) will be quite sufficient. Immediately, we note that a more efficient chipset is expected in the 4K version of this player. Amlogic S905Y2.

social networks:

Most media players on Android use a “tablet” version of the system, usually with an additional proprietary shell optimized for large screens and remote control. The TV version of this OS, Android TV, is mainly found in TVs, and there are not so many individual players based on it. Xiaomi is one of the few that produces such devices (see, for example, our review of the previous model, Xiaomi Mi Box S), and this year a miniature stick has replaced the “box” in its line.

Software

The Live Channels service that disappeared from the remote control has not actually disappeared; it is still available in the list of applications. Recall that it allows you to collect in one place streaming video broadcasts from different sources and manage them in a “television” style, when each source looks like a regular TV channel.

Of course, you can install applications on this player manually, bypassing the Google Play Store, from APK files (for example, on the Internet, you can easily find recommendations for installing both torrent clients and streaming services with unlicensed content), but for such purposes, all.so there are more suitable options in the form of a large number of media players on the regular version of Android and with higher performance and functionality.

Review of the media player Xiaomi Mi TV Stick (FHD)

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick design

If the previous models of Xiaomi players. Mi Box. did not differ very much from each other in terms of design, then in the new product the company has seriously revised its approach to the form factor of this device. Now it is a “stick”, or “dongle”. a miniature body slightly larger than a large “flash drive” (92x30x15 mm) and noticeably smaller than the complete remote control, which itself is very compact.

Mi TV Remote Not working Solve 100% | Hindi | #AbuTechHindi

The body of the player is made of black plastic, half is matte, half is glossy. The similarity with USB Flash Drive is enhanced by the HDMI connector at its end, which, if you don’t look closely, can easily be confused with USB. In addition to it, on the case you can find only a micro USB port, which is used for power supply. the connection to the network is only wireless, via Wi-Fi.

You can connect the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick to the HDMI input of a TV or receiver either directly, if the configuration of the ports and the free space in the case behind them allows it, or through a small extension cord. it will not look so aesthetically pleasing, but with this connection option there will definitely not be any difficulties. The player can receive power both from the outlet, using the supplied power supply, and from the USB port on the TV.

Equipment

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick comes in a very small box in the traditional orange color. The package includes a remote control, a power supply, a USB cable, a short HDMI extension cable and paper documentation. except for the AAA batteries that power the remote control.

Remote control

But the remote control of the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick remains, in fact, the same as that of the Xiaomi Mi Box S. It is a relatively small “bar” with smoothed sides, vaguely reminiscent of the Apple TV remote control of the first generations, with a voice search button above the ring joystick and a minimal set of other buttons. under it. The remote, of course, connects via Bluetooth, but it does not have the functions of a gyroscopic mouse, so you will not be able to control gestures. Of the differences from the previous generation of the player, you can only point out a different design of the Google Assistant and Netflix buttons and a new button for the Amazon Prime Video client instead of the abolished Live button (which gave access to the Live Channels service).

In work

In terms of the initial setup, the Mi TV Stick turns out to be the same as the Mi Box S: when you turn it on for the first time, the player prompts you to make a quick setup using an Android smartphone or tablet. To do this, in the Google application, enter the command set up my device in the search bar, after which the device will detect the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick located in the same local network with it. If the Android smartphone is not at hand, the setup will have to be done in the traditional way, manually connecting to your Wi-Fi. You can also log into your Google account either by entering your login / password using the virtual keyboard, or by authorizing the Mi TV Stick via your smartphone (for which you need to go to www.Android.com/TV/setup and enter the PIN code suggested by the player).

Xiaomi has a proprietary application for a smartphone. Mi Remote controller, but in our case it could not detect a device located in the same Wi-Fi network with a smartphone; however, to control the player, you can use the standard Android TV Remote Control utility from Google, with which there were no problems.

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick supports Google Cast, which allows you to stream content to it from an Android smartphone from applications that support this function (YouTube, TuneIn Radio, Google Photos, etc.). Also, using the Google Home utility, you can duplicate the smartphone screen on the TV and thus watch content in applications without Google Cast support (for example, the built-in photo gallery).

Unlike Mi Box S, which was able to play local media content from USB-connected drives, for Mi TV Stick, in the absence of a USB port, the only source of content is Wi-Fi. accordingly, players with support for playback over a local network are needed, for example, VLC for Android or Kodi Media Center. As expected, the system performance is quite sufficient for Full HD video. the start of playback usually takes less than a second (in some cases. up to 2-3 seconds), all videos, except for the most difficult like Blu-ray remixes, were played without stuttering. By the way, when connected via 2.4 GHz through a bearing wall, the throughput was about 30-35 Mbit / s, at 5 GHz. about 100 Mbit / s. Also note that the player supports hardware decoding of audio tracks in Dolby Digital and DTS formats.

Unfortunately, the performance of the system is not enough for a smooth and fast operation of the interface: quite often there are jerks in the animation of scrolling through lists, slight delays in moving the cursor through menu items and reactions to pressing buttons on the remote control, and launching applications is very slow. like this, “ cold “start of services like YouTube, Netflix or Spotify took 6 to 10 seconds.

Xiaomi’s Mi Remote: what it is and how to set it up correctly

Hello everyone! If you have too many electronics in your house, then you definitely need a Mi remote. It will help you remotely control these gadgets, using one single remote control for everything. It is noteworthy that the role of such a remote control is not a long, refined unit with a picture of a hare in an earflap, but an application for your smartphone from Xiaomi.

What is this application?

Mi Remote is a software unit that turns a smartphone into a remote control for electronic equipment:

  • TVs;
  • AV receivers;
  • TV boxes;
  • Projectors;
  • DVD players;
  • Air conditioners;
  • Fans.

The trick of the Mi remote control is that it supports various manufacturers of electronic devices, not just Xiaomi. Among the technology it is really possible to meet: Samsung, Sony, LF, Panasonic, Mikromax and others.

The main condition for pairing is that the gadget must be relatively new. Old devices alas. they are not supported.

Functional

Mi Remote Controller allows you to fully monitor the indicators and control the paired equipment. For example, through the application you can:

  • Decrease or increase TV volume.
  • Decrease the temperature or air flow rate in the air conditioner.
  • Click the camera shutter.
  • Deactivate TV-Box.
  • Dim the light of the smart lamp.

The features of the Mi Remut application are:

  • Clear and simple interface;
  • Remote control and remote interaction with equipment has been implemented;
  • There is support for any smartphone with an infrared port, working with IrDA technology;
  • Orientation of the program for a huge amount of equipment;
  • There is an option to view TV programs.
  • The program is completely free and available all over the world.

It is noteworthy that the remote control is not connected to the Internet. Although access to the global network is required to connect a new device, you can interact with electronics without connecting to Wi-Fi or a mobile operator’s network.

List of smartphones

For smartphones, there must also be a condition. the presence of an infrared port provided by an infrared sensor. Through it, the Infrared Data Association (IrDA) technology uses light in the infrared spectrum, which is invisible to humans, but is perceived by other gadgets in the line of sight. IrDA technology is optionally supported by many Xiaomi smartphones and their offshoots Redmi on Android:

  • Redmi lines 4, 5, 6, 7.
  • Redmi Note 5, 6, 7 versions.
  • Redmi 8, Redmi 8 Note, Note Pro, Note 8T.
  • Redmi 9 line.
  • Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro.
  • Poco F1, Poco X2.
  • Redmi K20, K20 PRO, K30.

This sensor is not implemented in budget versions of smartphones with the prefix “A”. With their help, you can control only Mi TV or Mi Box by connecting to a single Wi-Fi network.

Customization

First you need to download the Mi remote control from the Play Market or update it if you have a Xiaomi smartphone. It is installed on these phones out of the box. The Xiaomi remote control icon can be found in the Tools folder. APP name in English: Xiaomi Mi Remote Controller.

  • Download and run the application on your phone. Then click on the big “Add Remote” button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Then select your technique and the manufacturer of this technique.
  • Then follow the prompts of the app.
  • For example, point your phone at the device and click on the big button to check if the buttons are working correctly.
  • When the device has passed the test, enter its name in the special column and you can pull up a shortcut to the device (indicating, for example, the room where this device is located).
  • Program shortcuts are quite convenient, especially if several air conditioners or TVs are mated in different rooms.
  • After saving, each tweaked gadget will have its own remote control with functional buttons.
  • As an option “My room”, it is allowed to control several devices from one remote control.

Setting up the latter is done through the same shortcuts, which is quite convenient.

Xiaomi Mi TV 4S 43. Ample tuning space on a wide screen

Therefore, I will now tell you what else this device can please you and what pitfalls will be on the way to this joy. But I will immediately warn you that I will not sing praises to him, and if something does not suit me. I will directly state this.

The second point in design for which I want to criticize. the location of the holes for fastening to the wall. They are located below the horizontal center, so the “ears” of the universal wall mount from below crawled out beyond the dimensions of the panel. The view is not the most accurate, but it was too late to change anything. Fortunately, they later turned out to be used to mount the soundbar.

The moment of first switching on comes. Exciting, by the way. Previously, Android-TV could not be turned on.

After a long splash screen, the telly requires on the screen to bring the remote control to the center of the panel at a distance of 20 centimeters and hold down two buttons on it. Done. We get to the menu.

About the menu a little later. As it turned out later, the remote control would have to be initialized in this way quite often. A couple of times a week on average. The remote works over bluetooth and it seems to get lost from time to time.

If you have a Google account, it is better to activate it immediately in the system settings, and you will be able to synchronize Google services.

Well, let’s get back to the menu after all. This model has two main menus. One is from Google, the other is from Xiaomi, and each has separate buttons on the remote. But both. about nothing. They offer any video content, mostly paid. They are trying to give some kind of viewing recommendations. Google, however, also offers to launch a playmarket and a utility utility for clearing memory and internal storage from its screen. And that’s it! Browser. no, a media player. no, galleries. no, a file manager. no, but in the playmarket. There them too. not!

They are greedy. only two USB inputs. But it’s still better than nothing. Also, the TV has a connector for an external antenna and two audio outputs (as it turns out, almost useless). There is an ethernet connector, which is very pleasing. Through him and connected to the Internet. HDMI inputs. as many as three. The second one supports video reception in 4K resolution. HDMI signal sources. it so happened. I do not have, therefore, it is not possible to test these connectors.

But we use USB to the fullest. One connector was immediately occupied by a room antenna, which needs additional power. But one remaining is clearly not enough. The most primitive 4-port USB splitter was plugged into it, and already into the splitter. a flash drive with archival photographs. From time to time we stick another USB flash drive into one more connector. watch the film or copy the photos. Plus it takes one more place for a Bluetooth mouse receiver. The TV would have at least 4 “native” USB ports, it would be more convenient, and an external hard drive could be used without any problems.

Having dealt with the materiel, they began to think about how to improve the functionality of the TV. First of all, a browser was installed via a USB flash drive and using a memory cleaning utility. Quite primitive at first, but tailored to work with the TV Bro remote control. We went online and started looking for additional applications.

Then I tried to replace the standard menu. But it was not so! Only through a flashing. As a result, I installed the Top TV Launcher launcher, the shortcut of which Google graciously allowed to be displayed on the main screen. Well, at least so.

Installed an alternative YouTube client. Smart YouTube TV (synchronizes with your account, cuts ads), PCRadio Internet radio (you can select stations broadcasting in high quality in it), an IPTV program. TV (offers a selection of channels in HD resolution), HDVideobox movie and series aggregator. We installed several different programs for the gallery and while we are in choosing which one is better. Found two slideshow programs: SlideShow5000 Pro and LucidDaydream. The first is launched through the launcher, and the second has replaced the standard standby screen saver through an assignment in the system menu. Now, instead of photos of some unknown authors, broadcast by Google from nowhere, we look at photos from old travels. CetusPlay was installed on the TV and on our smarts to control the TV instead of the remote control.

The only thing that seemed impossible to implement. screenshots. A dozen screenshots have been tried, and none of them work due to Android TV system limitations. We tried every possible combination of buttons on the remote. no screenshots. It is not clear why it would be impossible to take screenshots all of a sudden. Google’s weird policy, weird. But a miracle happened: in the Button Remapper program there was an option for assigning a screenshot to a remote control button. and here it is! Working.

Also, it was not possible to start any program that requires the “on top of all windows” permission. In particular, I would like to see a clock over the video in the corner of the screen. but you can’t. Google prohibits!

According to numerous recommendations of experienced Smart-TV users, ES File Explorer was installed. It allows you to copy information between the built-in memory of the TV and a USB flash drive. And also from a USB flash drive to a USB flash drive.

When you turn on the TV, it is automatically prompted to open the contents of the flash drive in the ES-explorer, if it was plugged in before turning it on. And since the flash drive is plugged in all the time, every time you have to close this menu and the system menu, which offers to play something from it.

One of the parameters that influenced the choice of this TV was the resolution of the 4K matrix. I wanted a juicy, clear picture on the screen. And she, you know, is present. But not everywhere.

4K video. is still a luxury rather than an ordinary thing. TV programs are broadcast in HD quality at best, and for the most part. in SD. However, watch the news from a distance of 3 meters. and SD is enough. And here are the films and videos. yes, higher picture quality is desirable. And when the video is in 4K. from the detail of the picture comes a kind of ecstasy.

Also 4K delivers when viewing photos. All the small details of the picture are visible, which cannot be seen even on a computer monitor. And very useful for surfing the internet. Text with clear borders of fonts seems to be more pleasant to read than blurry.

In order for the picture on the screen to be not only clear, but also juicy, the TV has a built-in aLGorithm for improving the quality a la HDR. Everything that is displayed on the screen is improved. However, such “concern” about our aesthetic feelings does not cause any negative emotions, so let it work for yourself. In most cases, the conversion to HDR takes place “on the fly”, but sometimes, especially when viewing 12-megapixel photos, you notice how “squares” run across the screen, in which the saturation of the picture changes.

The screen brightness is very high. Up to the point that 100% of the backlight in a semi-dark room hurts the eyes. The value of 65% turned out to be comfortable for us. However, when the room is flooded with direct sunlight, the screen becomes pale. But it’s somehow lazy to go into the settings and change the brightness, so it’s easier to close the curtains. The developers are not provided for changing the brightness from the remote control. However, you will have to try to do this through Button Remapper.

Admittedly, Xiaomi was not particularly concerned about the convenience of controlling the TV. The remote control is primitive, plastic. cheap, buttons jam. The voice input button rises above the power button, and every time you find the power button, you have to fight the temptation to press the one that fell under your finger. Voice input from the remote only searches for information on YouTube, searches from other programs mostly do not work. I had to abandon voice control.

In the course of using the programs, the following point became clear: not all programs can be controlled from the remote control. But this is not really a problem. A bluetooth mouse is being bought, and please. poke her wherever you want. I, despite the recommendations of a friend, who has been connecting and setting up smart-TV for eight years. buy Logitech and there will be no problems. I opted for A4 FStyler FG30, because it has 5 buttons (and also the batteries last for a long time), and made the right decision: you can use the “back” button with it. And if it was not there. would have to work out this command from the remote control. Convenience and economy in one bottle. That would also teach the “rodent” to execute the command to go to the main screen. the only remote control would be needed to turn it on. But Button Remapper completely ignores the mouse buttons (as well as other similar programs), so you have to keep the remote nearby for now. you can’t go home without it.

The mouse connection went smoothly: I entered the Bluetooth settings on the TV, activated the pairing mode of the mouse. and everything works right away. And, interestingly, it does not require, unlike the remote control and the soundbar, unnecessary gestures to connect after turning off the TV.

Therefore, the mouse has become the main control device. High positioning accuracy, the ability to select text, copy, paste turn the TV into a semblance of a computer.

CetusPlay is rarely used. Yes, the program duplicates all the remote control commands, and can even function in mouse mode, but it turned out to be not very convenient to constantly climb into the phone. But nevertheless, it comes in handy when you need to transfer a link to a website to a TV from your phone or play a video from your phone. You can also broadcast your phone screen to your TV. Condition for the program to work. so that Smart and TV are on the same network. And if Smart can connect to the network exclusively via Wi-Fi, then the TV can be connected to the router via cable.

Despite the presence of some “jambs” and restrictions from Google, this TV can be turned into a good media center, and even into a pseudo-computer. Plus the high definition of the image, and the “enhancer” of the picture. Minus. sloppy sound from built-in speakers; you need to purchase a soundbar. It is sometimes not very convenient to keep the remote control and the mouse close at the same time, but it’s better than nothing.

I’m sure if I bought some branded TV like Sony or LG. my tricks with installing additional programs and other tuning most likely would not have passed. Therefore, according to the totality of all parameters, I consider Xiaomi Mi 4s a pleasant and profitable purchase for myself.
