Run Windows via BIOS Asrock. Not loaded from a flash drive? 100% solution! BIOS and UEFI (#92)

How to download Windows from flash drive via BIOS Asrock Vide Review

I reinstalled Windows and forgot (it happens) how to download Windows from a flash drive.

When installing Windows from a flash drive, the need to download a computer from a disk compact, as well as in many other cases, you need to configure the BIOS so that the computer is loaded from the desired medium. This article will talk about how to put up the load from a flash drive in BIOS. It can also come in handy: how to download DVD and CD disk in BIOS.

Update 2016 (this is not important): the manual added ways to load from the flash drive in UEFI and BIOS on new computers with Windows 8, 8.1 (which is suitable for Windows 10). In addition, two methods of downloading from the USB drive without changing BIOS settings are added. Options for changing the order of loading devices for old motherboard are also present in the instructions. And one more important point: if downloading from a USB flash drive on a computer with UEFI does not occur, try to disable Secure Boot.

Note: at the end it is also described what to do if you cannot go to BIOS or UEFI on modern PC and laptops.

Using boot menu to download from flash drive

In most cases, it is required to put up from a flash drive in the BIOS for some single task: installing Windows, checking the computer for viruses using LiveCD, Windows password resetting the password.

In all these cases, it is not necessary to change the BIOS or UEFI settings, it is enough to call Boot Menu (download menu) when you turn on the computer and once select a flash drive as a loading device.

For example, when installing Windows, you press the desired key, select a USB connected USB drive with a distribution system, start installing. setting up, copying files and so on, and, after the first reboot occurs, the computer itself will load from the hard drive and continue the installation process in the standard mode.

I wrote in great detail about the entrance to this menu on laptops and computers of various brands in the article how to go to Boot Menu (there is also a video instruction).

How to get in BIOS to select download options

In different cases, in order to get into the BIOS settings utility, you need to perform, in fact, the same actions: immediately after the computer, when the first black screen appears with information about the installed memory or the logo of the computer or motherboard, click the necessary The button on the keyboard. the most common options are Delete and F2.

Press the DEL key to enter the BIOS

Usually, this information is at the bottom of the initial screen: “Press del to Enter Setup”, “Press F2 for Settings” and the same. By pressing the desired button at the right time (the earlier, the better. this must be done before starting the operating system) you will get in the settings menu. BIOS Setup Utility. The appearance of this menu may differ, consider several of the most common options.

Changing the download procedure in UEFI BIOS

On modern motherboards, the BIOS integration, or rather, according to UEFI, is usually graphic and, perhaps, more understandable in terms of changing the procedure for loading devices.

In most options, for example, on the Gigabyte motherboards (not all) or ASUS you can change the download order simply dragging the image of the disks accordingly with the mouse.

If this is not possible, look in the BIOS Features section at the Boot Options item (the last point can be located elsewhere, but the loading procedure is set there).

Download download from flash drive in ami bios

Keep in mind that in order to make all the described actions, the flash drive must be connected to the computer in advance, before entering the BIOS. In order to install the load from the flash drive in ami bios:

In the menu on top, pressing the “right” key, select “Boot” (download).

After that, select the Hard Disk Drives (hard drives) and in the menu that appears, click Enter on 1st Drive (first disk)

In the list we select the name of the flash drive. in the second picture, for example, it is Kingmax USB 2.0 Flash Disk. Click Enter, then. ESC.

Select “Boot Device Priority” (Priority of loading devices),

Select the “FIRST BOOT DEVICE” item (feather loading device), press Enter,

If you require download from a CD, then indicate the DVD ROM drive. We click ESC, in the menu from above from the BOOT (loading) point, we move to the Exit point (output) and select “Save Changes and Exit” (save changes and exit) or “Exit Saving Changes”. for a request for whether you are sure of that what you want to save the changes made, you will need to choose yes or dial from the “Y” keyboard, then click Enter. After that, the computer will reboot and begin to use the flash drive, disk or other device to download you selected.

Loading from a flash drive in BIOS Award or Phoenix

In order to select a device for downloading at Award BIOS, select “Advanced BIOS Features” (extended BIOS settings) in the main settings menu, after which we click Enter with the selected FIRST BOOT DEVICE.

How to load from flash drives

Hello, friends! We need to load from a flash drive for example to check RAM or any other operation. This can be done in two ways: using a boot menu (eat on all new computers) and using the BIOS configuration. Consider both options and at the end I will show in the video how to download from a flash drive on various stationary computers and a laptop HP Probook 4515.

This is the easiest way. It is only required to know which key is caused. You can see in the instructions for the motherboard or to the computer, or, carefully looking at the monitor screen when downloading a computer. For the ASROCK H77M.ITX motherboard, this is F11 key. It is necessary to press it several times immediately when you press the computer to include button. Boot menu in my case looks like this

In the window that appears using the keyboard, select your USB flash drive: Sony Storage Media 0100 and press Enter. If everything is correct (USB ports are workers and they are not disconnected and loading flash drive), then the load from the flash drive will occur. USB flash drive with UEFI (3rd point in the boot menu) on my Windows 7 does not work.

Loading menu, of course, differ on different computers.

But, the essence is one. Here is a list of devices and you, using arrow on the keyboard, choose the one you want to boot.

Features of loading from a flash drive

The sequence of selection of devices for launching is determined by the BIOS settings. a built.in microprogram designed to ensure the access of the operating system to the API devices.

To download the system from a flash drive, you need to go to the BIOS and change the start procedure, or use a special boot menu. But this is not always easy to do, since the versions and types of micro.oprograms can differ on different motherboard.

If you need to load from a USB or any other drive, you must perform the following actions:

  • insert a disk or flash drive;
  • Turn on the computer or restart it;
  • enter the BIOS or Boot Menu and choose a USB device;
  • If there are several connected devices, the system will automatically offer you a list to select the necessary.

Most of modern motherboards work through a technology called UEFI. This is not just a more convenient graphic shell for the BIOS micro.opram, but a new software with wider capabilities and flexible settings.

Maternal boards working with UEFI have received many new abilities, for example:

  • carry out control of the temperature of different devices and, in this regard, increase or decrease the speed of fans;
  • regulate the frequency of acceleration of the central and graphic processor on those motherboards where this is provided for by the developer;
  • Work with many BIOS settings from a special software under the control of the Windows operating system.

ASROCK H77M.ITX Maternal board

The easiest way to download the system from a flash drive is to use boot menu (download menu). For every modern motherboard there is such an opportunity. To find out which combination or key can be done, most often it is enough to read system messages. In extreme cases, you need to contact the documentation of the board.

ASROCK H77M.ITX allows you to choose a start option using the F11 button. On the first attempt, it may not be possible to get on the menu, so the key is required to press several times. In case of failure, just reboot the computer and repeat the attempt.

As a result, you should see a blue-blue background with the inscription ASROCK UEFI SETUP UTILITY. In the “Please Select Boot Device” menu you need to select the required loading device.

To set up the procedure for starting devices in the bios of the ASROCK H77M-ITX motherboard, the following actions must be performed:

  • enter the BIOS using the keys “F2” or “Del”;
  • Go to the choice of computer starting parameters that are in the Boot menu;
  • select the highest section called “Boot Option Priorities” (Priority download options);
  • Choose a boot option in this menu should be a device from which it is necessary to start a launch. in our case, a USB flash drive;

After the computer is rested, you should see the start of the launch from the flash drive.

ASUS P8H77-I motherboard

You can end up in a bios on computers with the ASUS P8H77-I motherboard in the same way as described in the previous section using the “DEL” or “F2” keys. You can get in the “F8” button in the choice of downloading menu for downloading.

The microprogram Inte We differs from the previous version. But the names of various settings menu are practically identical.

To simplify the actions, the primary setting mode and additional. In the function of primary settings, that is, in the main window in which you fall when loading BIOS, there is the possibility of choosing a launch priority. In the USB picture, it is designated as with UEFI.

If after restarting the system the loading from the flash drive has not started, it is necessary to go to the “extended mode”. This can be done using the “Additionally” button or by pressing the “F7” key.

To configure the priority, the following actions must be performed:

Install Windows XP from a flash drive, is here.

The computer will be rebooted, after which the launch with USB should begin. If this does not happen, try changing the port and repeat the operation.

How to boot with a boot flash drive in Award BIOS

New motherboards working with UEFI is much easier to set up. However, the need to load from a flash drive may occur on older systems. The settings for using the boot USB drive may vary slightly, although the principle of action considered earlier is the same.

One of the most famous versions of BIOS is Award. There is no way to call the menu to select the priority of the launch. Therefore, we immediately move on to the tuning of the BIOS.

In order to download the system from a flash drive on a computer with a motherboard working under the control of Award, you need to perform the following actions:

If the launch from the required drive has not been made, you need to check another parameter: the Integrated Peripherals menu should be included in the USB controller.

Ami BIOS

This microprogram control system is more modern, so there is already a menu for choosing a priority of launch. It is activated by the “F11” button. You can get into the BIOS settings using the Del or F2 buttons.

To select the boot priority, you need:

Phoenix-Award BIOS

Phoenix-Award BIOS is quite rare, and his microperogram is slightly unusual. There is support for the output on the screen of the quick choice of the boot drive, it is caused by the “F11” key.

Interestingly, in the Phoenix-Award menu you will not find USB-HDD. But other gadgets connected in this way, for example ZIP, CDrom and Floppy, are provided to the choice. To start the flash drive you need to select Hard Disk, and then the necessary USB-HDD will appear on the list.

As for the management of priorities via BIOS, it is done almost identical to ami.

The difference is that the following parameters must be selected in the Boot menu:

  • Using the keys “” and “-” change the sequence. The recovered device (Removable Device) should be the first;
  • Activating Removable Device and pressing the Enter button, select a flash drive from a drop.down list.

The ability to download the system from the flash drive gives almost any BIOS microsystems. Knowing the key combinations and the necessary menu items, you can quickly change the priorities of the launch.

The difference between BIOS and UEFI

BIOS is a program “sewn up” into a special microcircuit on the computer motherboard, initializing its devices when starting.

There are two types of BIOS. “old” BIOS and BIOS/UEFI. Currently, almost all computers are equipped with BIOS/UEFI, accelerating the launch of the PC and providing a more friendly user integer.

ASROCK UEFI Setup Utility

Various manufacturing companies organize the settings of their BIOS in different ways. However, the general principles of the organization of BIOS of well.known manufacturers, such as ASUS, ASROCK, GIGABYTE and MSI, are usually the same.

As a rule, it is not recommended to change the default values of the BIOS values, but you can quite easily easily make changes that improve the operation of the PC or help connect new equipment in BIOS.

The ASROCK motherboard stores UEFI Setup Utility in its BIOS chip, which must be included in to make the necessary settings.

To do this, immediately when turning on the PC, you need to press the “F2” or “del” keys that open the UEFI screen.

After entering the UEFI Setup Utility utility in the upper part of the screen, you can see its main sections:

Let’s touch on the main settings necessary for the user when working on a personal computer.

Gigabyte utility

Gigabyte campaign also released a utility called that you can download by this link.

To use it, just unpack the contents of the archive in any folder, and start the executable file called Windowsimagetool.

The launch of the program will require the rights of the administrator, so if it requires them, allow them.

The program integral is quite simple. in the first drop.down list you need to select the initial installation image of Windows 7 (which can be both on the DVD disk and on USB), in the second drop.down list you need to select “destination” where the new installation image of Windows will be formed 7, while it can only be a USB medium (flash drive).

As soon as all the necessary disks are selected, it is necessary to make sure that the checkbox at the “Add usb Drivers to an Offline Windows 7 Image” item is worth the checkpoint and click on the “Start” button.

Upon completion of the process, instead of the “Start” button, the “Close” button will become active. After that, you need to extract a USB flash drive and start installing Windows on the right computer.

MSI utility

MSI, in turn, has prepared the MSI Smart Tool utility, which can perform many actions that are useful for the owner of the MSI, and among them is the preparation of the Windows 7 image for installation on the Intel motherboards with the latest versions of the 1xx/2xx chipsets/2xx.

Dell UEFI BIOS Update from Bootable USB within the UEFI BIOS Boot Menu

After downloading, start the executable file and install the program.

After installation, we run it, and we see a warning message in front of us, which says for what purpose this program was created, as well as the indication not to pull out the flash drive during the work of the program.

In the program, select the item “Win7 Smart Tool”.

Then we set in the Source Folder point the path to the image file, or to the folder with a unpacked image. In the “Choose Storage Device” section, select either a flash carrier (“USB Storage”) or the creation of the ISO image (“ISO Destination”). Upon completing the indication of all the necessary ways, press the Start button, and wait for the completion of the procedure.

At the end of the procedure, an appropriate notice will appear:

Automatically turning on the computer when supplying electricity

It will be convenient for many users to configure the computer on the presence of power supply in its outlet. This is convenient in that, turning on the extension cord with a button, you will automatically turn on the PC along with the monitor and the periphery. And the Power button on the system unit will not have to be pressed.

To do this, go to the Settings section and subsection Advanced. Next. to the subsection Power Management Setup.

And the Restore AFTER AC Power Loss parameter is translated into Power On.

Install the password on BIOS

If you need a more reliable protection against outsiders penetrate into the computer than just a password when entering Windows, then it is advisable to install a password in BIOS.

It can be installed in the Settings section and the Security subsection.

The password must be entered in the Administrator Password field. Try not to forget the password, otherwise you will have to dump the BIOS settings.

Turning off the hard drive

In some cases, due to a failure hard disk, its initialization is delayed (sometimes it generally leads to freezing PC). Of course, this moment can also be the cause of the problem under consideration.

What can be done: try to turn off all the drives from SATA, USB, M2 PC ports (flash drives, hard drives, solid.state drives, etc.). Ideally, leave one keyboard and monitor, after restart the device and try to enter the BIOS.

If you need to go to the BIOS to install the OS, then you can try to format the hard drive on another PC, and then connect it to the current. Thus, Windows will not be launched from it and the PC will automatically try to load with the connected installation flash drive (disk compact). At least this is relevant for the default BIOS settings.

BIOS update

If all previous steps are unsuccessful. perhaps it is worth updating BIOS. over, it is not at all necessary to increase the version-you can install something more old (note: far from always the new version works more stable than the current one).

Modern devices allow you to launch BIOS/UEFI update directly from under Windows. All update, usually boils down to loading and launching an exe file (like any other program), and after a PC/laptop will reboot and update BIOS independently (automatically, without your participation).

Of course. The method is relevant for those who already have Windows disk. detailed instructions are located here.

If you solve the issue differently. Tell me in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев! Thank you in advance.

I pulled out the battery (there are no jumpers for resetting BIOS on the board). I changed the battery. I connected the keyboard through the adapter to PS/2. I changed the keyboard. I connected keyboards to all USB ports. I disconnected all the devices from the board, except for the video card and keyboard. Clamped the entrance key to BIOS before the computer is turned on. The result is one. it is impossible to enter BIOS. Only the ASROCK logo and a list of keys for entering the BIOS settings, choosing a loading device, BIOS update are displayed. BIOS does not respond to any of them.

Hello. one. Windows loads? You can try to enter with its help. 2. You did not update BIOS? like some kind of failure in the update process. (if possible. I would try to change the firmware. Of course, at your own peril and risk. )

I have ASUS K56CB. Even when I put Windows for the first time, I noticed that entering BIOS through F2 when turned on. This is a problem, although when rebooting it enters there in a hundred % of one hundred. The fact that through ESC he immediately enters the Boot menu, I did not know then.

Recently, the son incorrectly left the game when the laptop was hanging. pressed the button to turn off and he stopped loading. I went to BIOS. A boot menu flew, as when rolling up to factory. I launched the system, when rebooting went to BIOS. The menu has recovered. Save and went out. Everything was fine before turning off. Do not load again, again boot menu.

While sending the BIOS battery (CR 2016, with wiring) several times launched a laptop through BIOS. With F2, he enters it with great difficulty, does not respond to any other keys or their combinations. Replaced the battery and everything. In BIOS, he no longer enters at all. I can’t understand why. Everything is fine with Voltage, and the old battery was not so killed.

Hello. Probably, when changing the batteries, the BIOS settings were dropped (though this should not interfere with entering it, the hot. Specifications to your model. button definitely F2). There is a suspicion that (possibly) it is required to update (reflash) BIOS (but here you need to look “live”. ). Try (so far, as an option) remove the battery to re.throw the BIOS settings.

Gigabyte Z490 Pro AX version BIOS F20. How to go? When turning on, passes BIOS, and loads Windows immediately?

1) DEL key is standard (try also F2, F12, and END). 2) the second option tried? (I mean from Windows)

Yes, I tried it, it did not help (this began after I updated Windows).

I figured it out! The problem was in the DisplayPort cable! After the SAFE Boot parameter has installed in the load configuration, Windows stopped loading and Windows! Connected the old monitor and everything is ok! I connected both, there is no signal again on both!

good time. What settings are needed? Nothing to make out in the photo.

The issue is resolved much easier (as it turned out). Not all USB ports are priority, there are secondary ones, and when the wireless keyboard is not connected to that USB port, then there is no access to BIOS. I rearranged the USB keyboard receiver to another port and everything worked at once!
