It’s quite a common problem when tuning TV. The TV set can’t find digital channels. There can be many reasons, so it is important to check and eliminate possible causes step by step until you get to the point. Cases when a seemingly serviceable TV receiver has stopped catching channels can be disassembled according to the same scheme. Here’s how to proceed, from the simple to the complex.

One of the easiest reasons why the autodetect does not find channels can be a mismatch of standards.

First of all, check what format the equipment is capable of receiving. An owner of the TV set, receiving digital TV through a usual antenna, should remember the abbreviation DVB-T2. This is a European broadcasting standard that’s also been adopted in Russia. The acronym is derived from an English phrase meaning “digital video transmission, a second-generation television format”. It’s the “T2” on the end that needs attention.

Before the decision was made at the federal level to switch Russian television to digital, experimental over-the-air broadcasting was already underway, and it was often in the old European DVB-T format. So if the equipment does not support DVB-T2 it simply means it is outdated.

A similar situation can be with cable and satellite broadcasting. They also use the standards of DVB group, but with additional letters C (from the word “cable”) or S (from “satellite”). There, too, there could be additional digits 2: second-generation standards have already been developed and are actively used.

Every digital channel tuning on a Samsung TV begins with determining its modification and when it became available. The following options are available for this task:

Deleting and editing channels

Press the following combination on the remote control one after another: INFO-MENU-MUTE-POWER, the TV screen must be switched off.

Tip: ! For those who bought an optional remote wand (if your TV is not pre-installed an option to support this remote control), you must first activate it in the service menu from the regular remote.

Further problems are possible with the demonstration of 3D format. When this function is turned on the TV screen can simply be absent. And it has to do with the 3D matrix: if it is less than 100 Hz (for Samsung TV receivers the parameter must be at least 120 Hz) the display in 3D is simply impossible.
