If you want to configure the router by Wi-Fi, and not when connecting via cable, then it will be enough to connect to the Wi-Fi network, which will appear immediately after the power is turned on on the TP-Link TL-WR841N router. The network will be with the standard name (something like this: “TP-Link_084313”). And it will not be protected.

You can even connect to this network from a tablet, or phone, and configure a router without a computer.

Included with TL-WR841N, you probably found a disc. There is a utility for setting up a router. So, we will configure without a disk, through the router of the router. In this instructions, the disk will not come in handy. If you want to configure through the utility from the disk, you can do this according to this instructions.

The Internet must be connected to the router. And your computer, tablet, laptop, etc. D. should be connected to TP-LINK by cable, or by Wi-Fi. The power of the router must be included. If everything is ready, then you can proceed to the setting.

TP-LINK TL-WR841N Roter Settings

We need to go into the TL-WR841N router settings. To do this, on the computer to which it is connected, open any browser, and go to the address bar to address 192.168.one.1, or 192.168.0.one. A user name and password’s request should appear. Indicate admin and admin (standard password and user name). By the way, this information is indicated from the bottom of the router on the sticker. If you want, you can update the firmware on TL-WR841N. You can do this after setting. Or do not update at all.

It may be that settings at 192.168.one.1 will not open, or the ADMIN password will not work, and you will not be able to go into the settings. In this case, you need to reset the settings on the router TP-Link TL-WR841N. On the back of the router there is a Reset button, click on it with something sharp, and hold 10 seconds. The power of the router must be included. The indicators on the front panel should be lit up, and the router will reboot. Reset of settings can be done the same if you have already tried to configure something, but nothing happened. Reset the settings to the factory, and try to configure the router again.

The most important thing is to set up a router to work with your Internet provider. If this is not done, or do it wrong, then the Internet will not work via the router. The Wi-Fi network will appear, but without access to the Internet.

In the settings go to the Network tab. Wan. We need to choose the type of connection that your Internet provider uses in the falling list of Wan Connection Type. It can be: Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPOE, L2TP, or PPTP. For example, I have Dynamic IP (dynamic IP). So I chose it. To save the settings, press the Save button.

If you have a dynamic IP, then you don’t need to set any parameters. Choose, save, and the router begins to distribute the Internet.

Setting PPPOE, L2TP, and PPTP

If your provider uses one of the above methods of connecting, then select the right one, and set the necessary parameters that the provider must give you: user name, password, IP address. It already depends on the type of connection you have chosen and the provider.

The main thing that needs to be achieved from settings on this page is that the Internet through the router earned. If the Internet works, then click on the Save button, and continue. If you can’t configure, then call your Internet provider, and check with him all the data that is necessary to configure the router.

If your computer has a tuned high.speed Internet connection, then we no longer need it. You do not need to launch it. We will now run such a connection. You just need to configure it correctly.

It may also be such that the provider makes a binding on the MAC address (you need to check with the provider). In this case, you can clone the Mac in the settings of the router, on the Network tab. Mac Clone. Or, there you can change the MAC address of the router.

And if the router has already connected to the provider and distributes the Internet, then you can continue to set up.

Setting Wi-Fi Network and installing a password on the router TP-Link TL-WR841N

To configure Wi-Fi you need to open the Wireless tab on the settings page. Wireless Settings. On this page, we need to come up with and write a name for your Wi-Fi network in the Wireless Network Name field, and in the falling menu region to choose a country where you live. The rest of the settings, leave it as in my screenshot below.

Do not forget to save the settings by clicking on the Save button.

To protect our wireless network with a password, go to the Wireless tab. Wireless Security. There you need to highlight the type of safety WPA/WPA2. Personal (Recommoded).

Save the settings by pressing the Save button.

Admin password change. We protect the settings of the router

I already wrote in a separate article on how to change the standard password Admin in the router settings. Let us, while we are in the TP-Link TL-WR841N settings, will immediately change the password, which is used to protect the page with settings. So that everyone who will connect to your network will not be able to enter the router settings and change them.

Open the System Tools tab. Password. Indicate first the old user name and password (by default. admin). Then, below, indicate the new user name (you can leave Admin) and the new password. I advise you somewhere to record this password so as not to forget. Save the Save button settings.

That’s all, setting up the TP-Link TL-WR841N router completed. It remains only to restart the router. This can be done by turning off/turning on the power, or from the settings. On the System Tools tab. Reboot, you need to click on the Reboot button.

After setting up and rebooting, a Wi-Fi network will appear, with the name that we installed in the setting process. And to connect to a wireless network, use the password that we also installed when setting up the router.
