Instruction: Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds
Xiaomi is trying to be in trend, releasing budget devices and accessories with good quality. Not so long ago, Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds appeared on the market, but the manual for them may be in English and Chinese. This article will help you understand the device and replace the instruction manual.
- What should be included with Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds
- Xiaomi Wireless Bluetooth Headphone Case
- Instructions for connecting Xiaomi Earbuds to the phone
- How to use wireless headphones
Instructions for connecting Xiaomi Earbuds to the phone
Unfortunately, in the instructions for the Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds, we cannot read about the connection method if we do not speak a foreign language. This is not necessary, we will now demonstrate this process. You just have to repeat these steps to connect your headphones to your smartphone. Prepare devices for connection, move other Bluetooth devices away or turn off so they do not interfere with the process. Also make sure the headphones have enough power to connect.
Follow our instructions:
- Now remove both earbuds from the case. The red lights on both earbuds will immediately light up. Wait until one of them (right) turns white;
- The indicator on Xiaomi Earbuds should flash white quickly. Now let’s move on to setting up the smartphone. Open a Bluetooth window on it;
- If the headphone model is not displayed yet, start a new search.
Select your headphone model from the list of devices
When the model is found, select it from the list and the earbuds will be connected. Check their work by starting playing a track in the player. The right earpiece is always displayed because it is the master or master. According to the instructions, first the left earphone is connected to it, and then both are paired with the phone.
Xiaomi Wireless Bluetooth Headphone Case
The color of the case can be black or white. Mostly users choose black. Inside and outside, it has a matte surface. But the headphones themselves are made of shiny, body-friendly plastic.
The lid of the case works on the basis of a magnet. It is easy to open and close. Under the lid, there are two niches that fit the Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds. They are also magnetized, so they will not fall out even if the case is turned over.
Upon first unpacking, each of the earbuds will have a protective film that can be removed.
According to the instructions, it plays the role of a moisture barrier in case of temperature changes in case of long-term storage of the headphones in warehouses. The headphones are equipped with a mechanical button. And also an indicator. Light diodes are required to determine the current operating mode of the device. Both the case and the headphones themselves have contacts through which their battery is recharged.
Xiaomi Earbuds case is equipped with a port for a charger.
But for unknown reasons, the device itself, or even a cable to it, is not included. Perhaps the manufacturer believes that every user has it. Since the charger is suitable for a mobile phone. But in fact, users often have to buy the charger separately, which leaves a negative impression on the product.
What should be included with Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds
Inside is another thinner cardboard box with compartments. Each of them contains a case with Xiaomi Mi Earbuds, as well as instructions in Chinese and English.
Another set of ear cushions of different sizes.
The headphone case is wrapped in a protective transparent film. It protects it from scratches and damage.
For popular device models, Xiaomi makes a special version of the headphones for export to different countries. In their kit you can find instructions in Russian. But if the device is supposed to be sold in your own country, it will be in Chinese. Translation into English exists for the reason that it is considered international.
|Connection method:||Bluetooth 5.0|
|Battery capacity:||43 mAh|
|Time of autonomous continuous work:||4 hours|
|Opening hours from case:||12 hours|
How to use wireless headphones
The buttons on the Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds allow you to control music and microphone while they are located in your ears. Their buttons are easy to press. But when pressed, you need to slightly hold their body so that they do not press deeper into the ear opening. The headphones work equally well with Google Assistant and Siri without any problems. Depending on your mobile phone model.
To call the assistant, you must press the button twice. Using the built-in microphone, you can ask your question or ask to turn down or turn up the volume of the music. To pause the track, press the button once. Pressing again will resume playback. If suddenly you incorrectly connected them or only one earbud, you can reset their settings. To do this, hold both buttons SIMultaneously for a few seconds.
The gadget can be used individually. Each of them represents an individual independent device. To connect only one, take it out of the case and find it in the list of connected Bluetooth devices. Use our instruction to connect the Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds above.
Sound, convenience, iOS and Android compatibility of the new in-ear headphones from Xiaomi
This is the third model of the Mi Air series Bluetooth headset, here is the entire list:
But let’s define the name. There is a Chinese and a global version.
Mi Air 2 SE. Chinese.
Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic. Global.
Apart from the name on the box, there is no difference between them.
This review uses the global version, on the box, in addition to the English name, the version in Russian is also duplicated. “Mi 2 Basic completely wireless in-ear headphones”.
Does the SE / Basic prefix mean that we have received an improved version of the previous model, or, on the contrary, only basic functions have been left here? The answer to this question and even more, you will find out in this review.
Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic (Mi Air 2 SE). These are budget fully wireless in-ear headphones with charging case.
Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic
For comparison, let’s take Apple AirPods.
Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic and Apple AirPods
The shape of the “head” of the earphone is a bit like AirPods, which is suggestive. Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic will also fit comfortably in the ears.
However, the base has a completely different shape, which affects ergonomics. The headphones are really comfortable to be in all day long. I had a feeling that the right one might fall out, I wanted to correct it periodically. But never fell out, even if you shake your head.

It’s not immediately clear how to get the headphones out. By trial and error, the most comfortable is this.

Package contents Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic
Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic (Mi Air 2 SE) outperforms the older model in many respects, but not in sound. Therefore, this is somewhat an improved version, somewhat truncated.
When choosing this Bluetooth headset, it should be borne in mind that it is more suitable for listening to music than for telephone conversations. Because under certain conditions (for example, on a noisy street), the surrounding sound can interrupt, and the interlocutor will not be heard well enough. In room. OK.
A quieter sound can also be an advantage if you are choosing low-volume headphones for your child.
At the same time, Mi Air 2 SE True Wireless Earphones Basic remains a good option for value for money, with a pleasant sound for pop and dance genres and high battery life up to 20 hours with a recharge in a case. Especially for those who do not fit the vacuum type of headphones, and who are looking for “earbuds”.
And if you are interested in higher quality and louder sound, pay attention to the model Xiaomi Mi Air 2 True Wireless Earphones. It is more expensive than the Basic, but it is still budget fully wireless in-ear headphones.
Review of Mi Air 2 SE True Wireless Earphones Basic. A stripped down or improved model of Xiaomi fully wireless headphones? Autonomy
There are official data, but there are my user.
Officially, the operating time of the headphones on a single charge. 5:00. General autonomy with recharging in a case. 20 hours.
My user data: up to 9 hours on a single charge, total autonomy. More than 20 hours.
Discharging Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic was not an easy task.
In normal user mode, a single charge was enough for 9 hours. I listened to music, watched videos on YouTube, talked on the phone several times, periodically turned off the music and just sat in silence, but with headphones on. In general, everything is like in life.
If you listen to music continuously: in 2 hours the headphones were discharged by 30%. Thus, we can assume that when listening to tracks continuously, one charge should be enough for about 7 hours.
Because The charge turned out to be too much, experimentally I managed to completely discharge and charge the headphones using the case 2 times. The headphones are partially charged the third time.
For the first 10-15 minutes in the Mi TW Earphone 2 Basic case, it charges 50%.
In 20 min. By 70%, 40 min. 80%, 50 min. 100%.
The case itself with headphones is fully charged in about an hour and a half.
Connection and management
Connecting is quite SIMple.
Open the lid of the charging case. Headphones stay inside.
Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone.
Choose Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic from the list.
Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic
If the smartphone or laptop does not find the headphones, there is an additional step in the instructions.
Press and hold the touch area on the touchpad of either headphone for 3 seconds. The indicator will blink white and the headphones should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices. If prompted for a password, enter “0000”.
Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic is compatible with both Android smartphones and iPhones. The advantage, of course, is with Xiaomi smartphones. A window pops up on them with information about the state of charge of the case and each individual earphone. I was unable to test this function on a Xiaomi smartphone. According to official sources it should look like this.

How to untie Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic from a smartphone?

Press the touchpad touch area on both earbuds at the same time for 7 seconds.
When both earbuds light up white. Headphones dropped.
Indicators blink white. Ready for a new connection.
Control is via the touch panel with a double touch.
Answering / ending a call. Double tap any of the earphones.
Pause / play music. Double tap right earbud.
Call the voice assistant. Double tap left earphone.
When wearing one left earbud, double-tapping does not function as a call to the voice assistant, but pauses / plays music.
When you take one earbud out of your ear, the music is automatically paused. Putting the earphone back in your ear resumes music playback.
Switching tracks, increasing / decreasing the sound volume is made only through a smartphone.
When connected to a laptop, there is no way to switch from sound on a smartphone to sound on a laptop. Headphones can only be connected to one device at a time.
Important! Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic (Mi Air 2 SE) support SBC / AAC audio codecs. Before checking this information, as usual, I included music in the YouTube Music application, as well as one of the FLAC tracks on my smartphone. Don’t do that. The sound was very bad, even for the pop genre. But everything immediately changed as soon as I used Apple Music.
Quiet sound, no bass, instruments sound blurry. At the same time, everything does not turn into a mess, because the vocal part is clearly highlighted. The melody of the compositions is felt.
For rock, Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic are not suitable. For the genre of pop and dance tracks. The sound is pleasant and overall, the impression is positive.
Therefore, if there are no other options for price and functions, then the sound is musically quite acceptable.
In the telephone mode, the interlocutor hears you well, and you. Interlocutor, provided that both are in a quiet room. On the street, the interlocutor will hear you and all the surrounding noise. You will also hear the interlocutor, but the surrounding noise will create additional inconvenience.
In silent mode on a smartphone, the sound of a call in the headphones. Very quiet, you can miss an important call.
There is no desynchronization when watching a video on YouTube.

The sound eliminated a slight desynchronization during video playback, which was present in Mi TW Earphones 2. However, after more than half a year, when re-listening to the Mi TW Earphones 2 headphones, the desynchronization was not detected.
The quality of music playback and calls from the previous model is better: louder sound, bass, better noise cancellation.
At the time of the review, the price of Mi TW Earphones 2 Basic is approximately half the price of Mi TW Earphones 2.

Comfort and control
Xiaomi AirDots sit securely in the “average” ear. The quality of fixation is achieved through ear cushions and the shape of the case. There is no feeling that the headphones can get lost. When properly fitted, they look pretty good, they don’t stick out too much
Xiaomi AirDots uses touch control. Although, there is a suspicion that there are just sensitive buttons under the cover of the case. On the other hand, it is quite easy to touch the control panel while removing the headphones from the case and thus pause the music.
Xiaomi Mi AirDots in a case
In music playback mode:
- 1 touch. Pause / start; 2 touches. Next track; 3 touches. Previous
In standby mode (no music playing):
- 1 touch. Call the voice assistant / answer a call 2 touches. Cancel an incoming call
Pairing Xiaomi AirDots with a smartphone is quite SIMple. You need to remove the headphones from the case, they are automatically activated, and find them on the phone. After pairing, as soon as you take out the headphones (or at least the right one) from the case, they automatically connect with the last device (it takes a couple of seconds), and when you put it back in the case, the connection is broken and charging starts.

Microphone and connection quality
The microphone quality of the Xiaomi AirDots is surprisingly good. The recording from the smartphone is quite clear and understandable. But it is worth considering that the headphones are not designed to work with a PC, and indeed with something other than a smartphone.
Communication quality is decent. The declared range for Bluetooth 5.0 is 50 m, but this is provided that the source device also supports this version of the protocol. Most modern devices in the entry and middle price range, for which Xiaomi AirDots are designed, support a maximum of Bluetooth 4.2. But even this is enough for a comfortable reception throughout the apartment (medium, again, in size).
Xiaomi Mi AirDots in ear
However, there is a desynchronization of video and sound when watching, for example, Youtube. Sometimes it can be corrected, or at least improved, by resetting the headphone settings. Long SIMultaneous holding of both control panels.
In addition, support for TWS. True Wireless Stereo. Is declared, when the headphones are connected to the source in parallel, and not in series, that is, both only receive a signal. However, here, again, you need source that supports this function.
Xiaomi AirDots review. Inexpensive wireless Bluetooth headphones
Xiaomi AirDots are completely wireless, inexpensive in-ear Bluetooth headphones. Released in the company’s traditional white color and laconic design with the subheading Youth Edition. Fully wireless headphones are really aimed at young people, because they are part of a very trendy and even hype sphere of the audio market, they look quite stylish and, most importantly, are significantly cheaper than most competitors.
Xiaomi Mi AirDots packaging
- Price; Secure fit in the ear; Confident connection.
Battery life; Quality of materials; Sound quality.
Xiaomi AirDots are made of plastic and rubber, the same materials are used in the charging case. Not “premium”, but visually pleasing. No sharp corners or rough edges.
Xiaomi Mi AirDots Unboxing
Xiaomi AirDots are packaged in a stylish but SIMple white cardboard box with a picture of the package on the front. Inside we see a separate case and headphones in a tight rubber holder. The box also contains warranty documents, a brief instruction, a cardboard card with frequency response (apparently, not for all markets), a charging cable for the case and a pair of replaceable ear pads, the first pair is already on. There is no adapter included, but the option from most smartphones will do.
Xiaomi AirDots generally work as long as stated by the manufacturer. 3-4 hours from a single charge, and given that you can “carry” 3 more full charging cycles in the case, even active listening should be enough for a day.
Xiaomi AirDots sound good for their price.
You shouldn’t expect a clean and detailed sound. But the bass is quite palpable, the middle is readable, there are no very unpleasant distortions at the top either.
Xiaomi AirDots are inexpensive fully wireless earbuds that are worth the money.
- Price. Good for the money (from 43). Xiaomi continues to follow this rule; Comfort. The earbuds sit securely in the ear, do not get bored quickly. Connection quality. Confidently keep in touch with a smartphone without artifacts and stuttering, Bluetooth 5.0 theoretically “hits” at 50 m; The design, of course, is not for everybody, but they look “stylish, fashionable, youthful”; Autonomy: about 3 hours on a single charge and up to 12 hours with a case, quite an average value for the market
The sound quality would be higher, even with an eye to the price; Audio out of sync when watching a video from 1 to 5 seconds. Narrows the scope of the model to listening to music / radio and answering calls. Build quality. It’s not terrible, but there are fears that the headphones will not last for many years.
Xiaomi Redmi AirDots Review: Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic
If you still walk around with wired headphones, look around. We are slowly and relentlessly moving into the world of wireless audio, a world free from cramped movements and tangled wires. And if you are not yet ready to dive into this world with your head, you can start exploring it with budget options, in this case we will talk about the Xiaomi Redmi AirDots headphones.
Xiaomi Redmi AirDots. Entry-level Bluetooth headphones, but don’t discount them, because first of all it’s Xiaomi.
Sound and control
Each earbud has function buttons. One tap stops music, double tap activates Google Assistant on Android or Siri on iPhone.
And here’s the caveat: the buttons have to be pressed so hard that the earpiece is pressed deeper, causing discomfort. Therefore, I preferred to control music from my phone.
Xiaomi Redmi AirDots (Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic)
The Redmi AirDots have 7.2mm drivers and can deliver decent audio given the compact form factor. I found the bass to be quite pleasant, although not quite as rich. The stage is a bit thin, but a lot can be forgiven for the money.
But with voice calls, the situation is rather sad, microphones do not pick up the voice well. No noise cancellation, but the design allows you to cut off some of the external noise.

Design Xiaomi Redmi AirDots (Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic)
The headphones are small and light, too much. Weight is still associated with sound quality.
Each earbud has a small flashing LED that indicates battery status.
Xiaomi Redmi AirDots (Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic)
When paired or connected to devices, they will flash blue-white, and when placed in a case, they will flash red, indicating that they are charging.
The operating time of each earbud is on average 4 hours, an excellent indicator, considering that the charging case is capable of charging 3-4 times. In total, we have about 14-15 hours of work.
Xiaomi Redmi AirDots (Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic)
Upset by the presence of a micro-USB connector for charging the case, it’s 2019! But the case has a 300mAh battery and charges in about 20 minutes to 100%.
Should you buy Xiaomi Redmi AirDots? At this price, definitely buy. Yes, the sound is not stunning, but it is better than many competitors in this niche.
