Xiaomi Mi note 10 setup

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Touch issues

Another thing that divides opinions of smartphone aficionados is curved or flat screens. The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 comes with the curved screen and, although it is aesthetically pleasing, it can be quite a problem for inexperienced users. And Xiaomi isn’t doing the best job optimizing MIUI for the curved screens.

We can’t say that, at this point in time, there are issues with the screen like ghost touch, but issues with the curved edges are there. The only thing you can do is adapt and wait for updates to sort this out.

Camera issues

This device is more than a one-trick pony, but let’s be honest here. if you go for the Xiaomi Note 10, you are probably going for that out-of-this-world 108 MP main camera. Or whole 5 camera setup on the back.

Once we get this hardware out of the table, we are often left with the sub-par software when it comes to Xiaomi. And that seems to be a problem for this handset, as well. There are reports about short white lines in the Viewfinder, focusing issues, and blurry background.

Now, some of these are easily fixable by updating the firmware. You can also try and reset the cache from the Cam or, even though it’s a bit early, try Google Camera ports.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 common issues and how to solve them

Xiaomi, note, setup

For a company that is often accused of copying others, Xiaomi, along with its subsidiaries, made a few breakthroughs recently, especially in the mid-range category. One device that definitely stands alone at the moment is the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 with mind-bending 108 MP main lens. But the camera is not its only quality nor selling point.

But you probably know everything about that. The focus of this article are issues that the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 has, which are rather seldom and can be ascribed to a bad optimization of MIUI.

If you own this device and have had a certain problem, check our list and you might find the problem that has been bothering you, along with suggestions or solutions for your problem.

Note: All the issues mentioned in this article are individually reported cases, which doesn’t mean any of the problems will occur on other devices. If you’re looking to buy this phone, DO NOT consider these problems.

No MIUI dialer

There are people who dislike MIUI and its built-in system apps and features and those who don’t. Even though it might take some getting used to if you are coming from a close-to-stock Android experience, it definitely has a few nifty features. One of those is Call recording in the MIUI Dialer.

However, since this is against the law in so many countries (recording someone without their consent), Xiaomi started shipping devices with the Google Phone instead. And users are not happy about it.

If you have a Global or EU version of the stock ROM, you can try switching to Chinese ROM. There’s also an option of unlocking the bootloader and using MIUI EU ROMs (they incorporate the dialer), but that might lead to major issues if you are not sure what you are doing.

Turbo Charge doesn’t work

Not only this device has a chunky battery but it comes with the latest 30W Turbo Charge that should charge the 5260 mAh battery in astonishing 65 minutes. The 30W charger comes with the device which is great, of course.

However, some users are reporting something awry happening during the charging sequence, as the device randomly switches from Turbo to Fast charging (slower one). This happens due to overheating and the phone is programmed to reduce the charging speed to cool down a bit.

So, the best thing to do is to leave your device for some time or even turn on the Airplane mode. This will both speed up charging while and the device will stay cool.

GPS issues on the Xiaomi Note 10

Based on user and reviewer reports, GPS on the Xiaomi Note 10 is not exactly the industry standard but not all that bad. You can say, just a regular precise GPS. On the other hand, there seems to be a bug with the location services, where GPS won’t work and the Location shortcut is just greyed out.

If you are affected by this, make sure to check for hardware issues by following these steps:

  • Download GPS Test from the Play Store, here.
  • Run the 3D Fix test and see whether there are available satellites.
  • If the 3D Fix is green, a number of satellites in view and use above 0 and accuracy below 15 meters means that the GPS is working properly.

If GPS is functional, then there’s most certainly the software issue at hand and you can fix it by simply updating firmware. Users reported that newer versions of MIUI 11 (still based on Android 9) fixed the problem.

Battery drains quickly on the Xiaomi Note 10

Now, the close second selling point for the Xiaomi Note 10 is enormous battery capacity, standing at 5260 mAh. This, based on some reports, should allow up to 20 hours of Screen-on Time (yeah, you read it right).

Of course, once you experience that amazing longevity, you definitely don’t want to see battery deplete fast. And that’s what some users have experienced, especially after updates.

We can’t say what is exactly causing battery draining, but here are some things to try to mitigate it until updates address it:

  • Open Developer options and disable Mobile Data always on.
  • Prevent some secondary apps from working in the background.
  • Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth overnight.
  • Use Greenify or any other third-party application to limit the background processes.
  • Update your device or reset the device to factory settings.

Ambient display (Always-on display) not working

Since this device came out in November 2019, it got MIUI 11 from the box. MIUI 11 comes with a plethora of options, including Always-on display which, thanks to massive implementation of AMOLED screens, really comes in handy.

As the Xiaomi Note 10 comes with an AMOLED screen, Always-on display is definitely useful, especially since there’s not a notification LED. However, some users had issues with Always-on Display. For some, the notifications weren’t showing on the AoD while others weren’t able to use the feature at all.

Here’s how to tackle both of this in a few simple steps:

  • Reboot your device.
  • Check the schedule under the Display items and try setting it to Always.
  • Under the same settings, toggle off the “Turn off when Battery saver is on” option.
  • Update the firmware.
  • Reset your device to factory settings.

Obstructions distance do matter

These are two of the most prevalent reasons why you could be encountering WI-FI problems on your phone. Either the phone is away from the router or modem that the signal is too weak or the internet is slow or the distance could be little but there are obstructions. Note that doors, walls, and even someone standing next to the router can seriously issue with the signal that your phone intercepts which are why reducing the obstructions are highly recommended. For this, you need to position the router higher from the ground and in such a way that it broadcasts signals to everywhere you want it to work well.

Fixes

# 1: Adjust the antennas or relocate the router to get higher signal strength.
# 2: Check the internet speeds on to know if you are getting the speed that you paid for or call ISP for the diagnosis and redressal of the issue.
# 3: Download third-party app like ‘WI-FI Analyzer’ app to detect the strength of signal across the house and use the phone in the sweet spots accordingly.
# 4: Upgrade to a powerful router and that must fix the problem away.

Fixes

# 1: Consider this. Your router is placed in such a way that there are too many walls between the router and the place where you are using the phone or computer. Walls can interfere with the signal and so are other any obstacles which are why you need to get rid of these interfering articles away by adjusting the router accordingly.

# 2: If adjusting the position of the router isn’t an option, try lifting the router to a comparatively higher location i.e. if it was 2-feet above the floor, try lifting it up to 4-feet or more. This will magnify its signals as well. Furthermore, try alternating the antennas if you have two or more antennas on the router. This will ensure that the router broadcasts signals to a wider range than usual and thus, it must resolve the weak WI-FI issue.

# 3: You can buy WI-FI range extenders which are external devices that you can affix at a certain location from the router where it will broadcast signals to a wider area without losing the signal strength.

Fixes

# 1: Check if there’s any other device such as home appliances with microwaves causing the interference. If so, turn them off and check if the WI-FI drops or not.

# 2: It is quite possible that the neighbor’s router signals are causing your router to wobble a bit. If that is so, try upgrading the firmware of your router. Reset the router and start afresh. You can also tweak the channel i.e. from 2.4GHz to 5GHz if your router supports it where the latter is more spacious and you won’t ever end up getting entangled in constant signal drops from your router ever again.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10 WI-FI Problems and Fixes

The year 2019 has been great so far for Xiaomi including the launch of MIUI 11, remarkable Mi Note 10 series, Redmi Note 8 series, and plenty more. Now, talking about the Mi Note 10, it’s the latest camera beast smartphone from Xiaomi that offers 108MP Quad cameras. There are a total of five cameras including four rear cameras and a single selfie camera. With the help of Pixel Binning technology and enhanced AI, the images come out great with nice-looking colors. However, people have reported WI-FI problems with Mi Note 10 that needs to be fixed.

Why WI-FI problems is a huge issue is because we as a people have become addicted to our smartphones and since we are glued to the phone connected either to the mobile data which is expensive or WI-FI which is inexpensive and fast, problems that result in a disruption in using the internet is a massive issue. You won’t be able to access Instagram or the WI-FI connection will be too weak to load all the photos, send messages on and WhatsApp, or upload a cute GIF or send an email, etc. After noting down most of the WI-FI problems ranging from disconnecting issue, slow internet, not connecting issues, I have devised an explicit guide on Mi Note 10 WI-FI Problems and Fixes that you must go through.

Verify if it’s an intermediate issue

Before proceeding further, if you are connected to a WI-FI network and the internet is not working, check if there’s an intermittent issue with the ISP or not. If it is, no matter what method you follow from the given explicit guide below, it won’t work since the problem is merely on the ISP’s end and not yours. Call the ISP, ask them to troubleshoot or ask for a technician to get the problem fixed.

Top 10 Tips and Tricks Xiaomi Mi Note 10 You Need Know

Setting up Xiaomi power consumption from scratch

In this article, we will tell you how to adjust the energy efficiency of your Xiaomi smartphone on MIUI 9. It will be useful both after purchase and just after the update.

We will cover the most important settings for users:
System performance settings;
Smoothness settings for the interface;
Correct operation of notifications in standby mode;
Extending the work of the smartphone on a single battery charge;
Other.

In this review, we will only touch on those settings and capabilities that are available without Root. rights.

In addition to this article, a little later another one will be released, which will describe setting up a smartphone with Root. rights.

OTHER SETTINGS

Moving on to other settings that affect the increased battery consumption.

We go to “Settings”. “Wi-Fi”. “Advanced settings”. disable the item “Constant search for networks”.

In “Settings”. “Sound and vibration”. turn off unnecessary sounds and vibration feedback.

In “Settings”. “Notifications and status bar”. “Application notification”. turn off notifications for all applications from which we do not need notifications.

In “Settings”. “Advanced settings”. “Date and time”. deactivate the items “Date and time of the network” and “Time zone of the network”, thereby disabling constant synchronization with the service.

In “Settings”. “Advanced settings”. “Privacy”. “Location”. disable access to the location. This service consumes battery power very actively, keeping this module constantly on is not recommended, and most likely there is no need for this.

In “Settings”. “Advanced settings”. “Light indicator”. “Duration of backlighting”. we set the time of illumination of the buttons under the screen convenient for you (it is clear that the lower the value, the better).

Also here you can turn off the “Indicator light” (if you do not need this function).

In “Settings”. “Advanced settings”. “Special. features “- disable unnecessary services.

In “Settings”. “Synchronization”. disable the synchronization of unnecessary applications.

DEACTIVATING SENSORS

The constant operation of various sensors negatively affects the power consumption of the smartphone. Disable sensors that do not need to work continuously.

Go to “Settings”. “Screen”. “Brightness”. Disable the item “Auto-tuning”.

How to Set Up Xiaomi Mi Note 10 – Customize Settings

Also, in the section “Settings”. “Screen”. “Color tone and contrast”, set the value “Standard”.

“Settings”. “Screen”. “Auto-rotate screen”. “off”.

CONFIGURATION OF APPLICATIONS “IN THE BACKGROUND”. APPLICATION PERMISSIONS

Here we will look at how to properly configure app permissions, autostart, work in the background. This is necessary in order to restrict the operation of some applications, disable access to some functions and services, and vice versa, configure those applications that need to be constantly functioning so that notifications come from them.

Launch “Security” (shortcut on the desktop). Go to the “Applications” section.

We select applications that will start automatically when the phone is turned on (you need to add those from which you need notifications: “Mail”, “Messengers”, etc.).

The next section is “Allowing Applications”.

In this section, you can configure application permissions for various smartphone services, such as: “SMS”, “Calendar”, “Camera”, “Contacts”, etc.

Disable all unnecessary. For example: “Location”. select only those programs that need to determine the location: “Maps” (if you are using), Navigator “Navitel” (or some other), Taxi service, etc. “Microphone”. we leave only those that need voice recording: “Dictaphone”, “Skype”, “Telegram”, etc. And so on for all points. Do not be afraid to disable unnecessary, if a certain program needs access to some of the services (and access is denied), it will ask you to provide it.

In the first tab “Applications”, you can select a specific application, visually see which permissions are granted and which are not, if necessary, correct them.

In the second tab “Permissions”, again different permissions are configured. “System Settings”, “Wi-Fi State”, “Bluetooth State”, etc.

Here you should pay attention to the “Run in the background” section and again disable those applications that need to be unloaded from memory.

Here we can turn on the economy mode by activating the corresponding item.

Or assign the activation of this mode at a certain time, for example at night, thereby reducing battery consumption when the phone is not in use. In this case, from 23.00 to 7.00.

In this section, we can see which applications (or services) consume more battery power (in percent).

If necessary, you can terminate the “gluttonous” application, or delete it altogether.

We can also see (in the “Devices” tab) which smartphone modules (“Screen”, “Wi-Fi”, “Bluetooth”, etc.) consume the charge (in percent).

Or see the “Detailed history” by clicking on the “clock” icon in the upper right corner.

In this section, we can restrict the activity of various applications (services) “in the background” in various ways.

To display “Services” (system applications), you must click the “three dots” in the upper right corner and click “Show system processes”.

There are several options for application restrictions.

“Smart Mode” appeared in MIUI 9 (it was not there before). Because in this mode, notifications from applications come (applications do not close), we will focus on only two modes. For applications that should work “in the background”. set “Smart Mode”. For everyone else. “Hard limit”. Such applications will be automatically unloaded from memory at the specified interval (Configurable in the “Power” section, press the “gear” in the upper right corner, in the “Clean up memory” item), set the frequency, for example 5 minutes.

ENERGY SAVING AND SPEED

Let’s start with the settings that are available in the Engineering menu (“For Developers”).

To go to the engineering menu, you need to go to “Settings”. “About phone”. “MIUI version” (press 8 times until the inscription “You have become a developer” appears). Then we go: “Settings”. “Advanced settings”. “For developers”.

Disable “Optimize system memory” (requires a reboot).

Turn off MIUI optimization (reboot required).

Here’s an example of how the customized Redmi Note 3 Pro SE works:

As you can see from the screenshot, the smartphone worked for three and a half days on a single charge. over, during the measurements, the smartphone was used “as the main one” (“Calls”, “SMS”, “Internet”, “Messengers”, etc.). We think that not all of you can boast of such a battery life. In fairness, we note that you will hardly be able to achieve such energy efficiency (as in the screenshot) using only the tips described in this article. As it was written above, there will be one more article, it will describe more detailed system settings that are possible with Root rights. The article is divided into two parts, since we took into account the wishes of our readers (comments to previous articles), in which many asked, to pay more attention to settings, capabilities, etc., precisely without Root. rights. Those. the settings described in this article are applicable to all users, and the second part will be released for “advanced users” who have the appropriate rights on their smartphone.
