Wireless headphones Xiaomi redmi AirDots how to charge

Xiaomi Redmi AirDots and Earbuds: left/right earbud not working, not syncing, not connecting, not charging case/earbuds

In this article, we will try to solve three problems most commonly encountered by owners of Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earbuds basic and Xiaomi Redmi AirDots Bluetooth headphones. As we already know, they are the same earbuds. I have been using these headphones for a few weeks now and I have never had any problems with them. They connect perfectly to both phone and laptop. But it happens not always and not at all.

The main problems that most often occur during the connection and use TWS headphones Xiaomi:

  • When the earbuds do not sync with each other. These TWS headphones work as follows: there is a main earbud, on my Earbuds basic is the right. When we turn them on or take them out of the case, the left earbud connects to the right one. They sync. Then we connect the right earbud to the device and both earbuds play. But it happens that there is an unsynchronization. As a result, the headphones do not connect. And one, right or left earphone Redmi AirDots do not work. Or just not connecting the left or right earbuds. Most often the left.
  • When Xiaomi Redmi AirDots or Earbuds headphones don’t connect to your phone, tablet, laptop, etc. д. Most often the device simply does not see them. We open the list of available Bluetooth devices, but the headphones do not appear there. And they are not in the case and turned on.
  • When Xiaomi headphones are not charging. Not charging left or right earphone, or not charging case (aka charging case, which in turn charges the headphones).

To do this, put the headphones in the case, press and hold for over 10 seconds the side button on its body (until the light turns on). After this, all connection history will be cleared. The headphones enter re-pairing mode.

What happens when the connection is lost

If you turn off your connected device’s Bluetooth or are out of range, the headphones go into standby mode. You will be in standby mode for ten minutes and then go to sleep mode. To reconnect, open the charging case when the headphones are in it.

Full reset

  • Go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and disconnect the connected headphones and the Bluetooth module itself.
  • Place the earpiece in the charging case and with the lid open, press the side button for 30 seconds. The LED will flash, glow, and turn off. After that close the lid of the case and open it again. Reconnect to the phone. The same procedure can be done with two headphones.

If before with headphones was all clear put on and go, but today’s wireless devices are so compact and geared to certain conditions, that you can mistakenly use them not quite right and be disappointed in your purchase. How to put AirDots in your ears to get the best sound quality and the most secure fit inside your ear?

The first thing you need to choose ear cushions (rubber tips) that are best suited for your ears. The Redmi AirDots come with three options: large, medium and smallest.

After that, see which earphone is intended for which ear. Information about this is on the back side near the charging contacts (L is for the left ear, and R for the right).

Plugging the earpiece, look to the bottom of the cushion, and then rotate the outer part of the AirDots so that it is locked in the ear.

The right ear piece of the headset should be rotated approximately 90 degrees counter-clockwise, and the left one clockwise.

When properly installed headphones will be securely fixed inside the ear, and thanks to properly matched ear cushions you can get a good level of isolation (passive noise cancelling) and bass.

Instructions in Russian for the headphones Xiaomi Mi Air 2 / AirDots Pro 2. How to connect and charge the headset

The other day on the market entered the new headphones from the company Xiaomi, which joined the ranks of copies of Airpods and easily squeeze the competition. Model Xiaomi Mi Air 2 in the management is simple, but still requires a minimum knowledge of how to connect to the phone, charging and mastering the control keys. This is what we will look at in this little instruction.

Xiaomi AirDots wireless headphones. Instructions

To turn on the pairing mode, you need to hold both headphones, or rather their touchpad, located on the outside for a few seconds, until the white indicators light up. After that, only the right earphone will start to flash. this means that the headphones are available for pairing with your device. Go into the settings for the Bluetooth device to which you want to connect the headphones. Mi AirDots BASIC_R will appear in the available devices. this is your headphones.

So the device connects to the right earpiece and the latter already connects the left one. The right earpiece is the main one, but at the same time they can be connected separately and used as a Bluetooth headset, even on different devices. in this case, the available devices will display Mi AirDots BASIC_R or Mi AirDots BASIC_L respectively, depending on the earpiece connected. The connection method is similar, but hold down the touch panel of the one desired earphone.

Playback and call controls.

Single tap. pause playback or answer an incoming call.Double-tap during a call. calling voice assistant.Hold for one second or more to cancel a call.Double-tap during a call. mute microphone.During on and off, a female voice says some Chinese words.Headphones work with any voice assistant: Siri, Google Assistant, Alice. To turn off and reset the headphones, you must hold the touch pads for a few seconds until the red lights turn on.

If you take the earphone out of your ear during use, the playback does not stop like in Airpods. They only disconnect when in the case, and connect back to the device when not in the case. If you only put the left earphone into the case it will shut down and the right earphone will continue to work. And if you remove the right one, they both turn off.See live photos of the disassembly of Xiaomi AirDots on our website. Here is a comparison with Mezu Pop, Free Buds and Airpods.

Wireless headphones drain quickly. One earphone shrinks faster than the other

In this article, I will discuss two problems that almost everyone who uses TWS wireless Bluetooth headphones encounters. The first problem is when the headphones run out of power very quickly. Of course, this “very quickly” is different for everyone. And the second problem, when one earphone sits faster than the other. For example, the right earphone is already completely discharged, but the left one is still working and shows 20% charge. Or vice versa. Earbuds sit differently. We will try to find out why it happens and what you can do to make your headphones hold their charge longer.

These two problems occur with absolutely different wireless headphones: Airpods (including Airpods Pro). Samsung Galaxy Buds, Xiaomi Redmi AirDots, Earbuds, QCY, Haylou, JBL, Motorola, Honor, i9S, i11, i12, etc. д. Perhaps a little ahead of the curve I will say that the problem is wear and tear of the battery, which is installed inside the small earpiece. It simply loses its capacity and does not hold a charge. And then it’s all very simple: in the more expensive headphones installed a better battery and similar problems do not appear there as quickly and pronounced, as on the cheap Chinese headphones for 10, which after a week, or even out of the box can quickly sit down. But sooner or later, to varying degrees, this problem will manifest itself on all TWS Bluetooth headphones.

I personally encountered such a problem. On cheap Chinese headphones TWS i11, and on the original Airpods first generation. I also have almost new Airpods 2 discharges unevenly. The right hand one gets dead quicker. For those who are interested, I will tell you in more detail:

  • The Chinese TWS i11 worked for about a year and started discharging in about 10 minutes. The running time after a full charge decreased gradually. The left earpiece works longer. The right one shuts down and turns off very quickly, in about a minute. The headphone just runs for a few minutes, says “turn off” and turns off. After charging the same thing happens. Apparently the battery inside each earpiece is worn out. Somehow repair them, find and order the battery, try to replace it, I do not see the point. Easier to throw them out and buy new ones, as they are not expensive, like most Chinese headphones.
  • Airpods started to run out faster and in different ways after about two years of heavy use. The right earpiece runs out of power faster than the left one. Much faster. The charge on the phone is always displayed differently and with a large difference between the left and right earpiece. It is almost impossible to use them. I thought about buying a new right earpiece, but didn’t. It’s not clear how long the left earpiece will last. And after replacing the right one, the left one would drain faster, since the new earpiece holds a long charge. Airpods are not collapsible, and replacing the battery in them is very difficult, or even impossible.
  • In the new Airpods 2, the right earpiece sits down faster. Not critical (yet). But still not very nice. For example, after charging the headphones to 100% and listening to music for 10 minutes, the left one will show 95% and the right one 91.

Setting up the headphones is easy. You do not need to install any special mobile app for this. All you need to do is perform a few simple actions:

  • To start, you have to squeeze both earbuds and hold them in until a purple-red blink appears. It indicates that the settings are reset.
  • Put the device in the case. You need to wait a little while until they “see” each other.
  • Take out the right earphone, the LED starts blinking white.
  • Next, you must go to your phone’s Bluetooth menu and search for Bluetooth devices.
  • You will see “Mi AirDots BASIC_R” in the list of available devices. Select this line and press connect. The smartphone will connect to the right earbuds.
  • Then take out the left earpiece. It will connect to the right automatically.

How to charge Xiaomi wireless headphones

Before using the device, remove the protective film from the contact surfaces of the Mi Earbuds Basic 2 headphones to fully charge them and the charging case.

Connect the charging cable to charge the earbuds and the charging case at the same time.

During charging the LED is glowing red. When fully charged it turns white, and after 1 minute the light goes out.
