Voice control for Samsung smart TV

SMART TV: VOICE AND GESTURE CONTROL

Many modern TVs have functions and controls similar to those found on smartphones. When will Google TV finally arrive??

Internet-enabled TVs are triumphant in our living rooms: almost half of all models sold today are smart TVs. The new generation of devices, according to manufacturers, will have more advanced remote controls, support for voice and gesture control, which will greatly facilitate access to intelligent services, such as online video rentals (video on demand), media libraries, as well as numerous entertainment and educational services.

Samsung, a leader in modern electronics manufacturers, provides a wide range of products for customers. Among its products are TVs, laptops, tablets, phones, etc. It happens that the phone may fail, in which case I advise you to contact the expressgsm service center, where you will be offered a high-quality phone repair as soon as possible.
Samsung TVs with Smart TVs have a significant change in their menus. For voice control and gesture control, a microphone and a camera are built into the frame of the TV receiver. LG TV remote control has built-in microphone for voice control

■ advanced remote controls. A small touchpad, like the one found on laptops, allows you to control the pointer on the TV screen when browsing menus or websites, eliminating the need to press the arrow buttons on the remote.

■ Voice control. LG and Samsung smart TVs recognize speech. Samsung TV models, according to the manufacturer, support 23 languages, but they only understand strictly certain commands, for example, “quiet” and “loud”. LG TV responds to common phrases such as movie titles from online video rentals. At CES, a television set was exhibited, which “spoke” only English, but at a good level. In this case, you can not be afraid that you accidentally give an unnecessary command: the voice function must be activated before use using a conditional word or the remote control.

■ Control with gestures. New products from Samsung can be “commanded” with the help of gestures: built-in cameras fix finger movements, as a result of which the pointer moves on the TV screen. So, a short clenching of the hand into a fist replaces pressing a certain button. The gesture control function must also be activated first to prevent accidental channel switching, for example, when watching a football match, accompanied by violent gestures.

LG has combined three control functions in the new Magic Remote at once: using traditional buttons for switching channels and adjusting the volume; using the voice function, possible thanks to the built-in microphone; and finally. using a Sony remote control equipped with a touchpad and a Toshiba tablet, they allow you to control the pointer on the TV screen using gestures (similar to the Wii game console, while the pointer on the TV screen follows the movements of the remote control in your hand).

Practical search function. What is the use of all the variety of Internet content on Smart TVs if it is impossible to find among these services, for example, the desired movie, series or program??

Toshiba’s new generation of TVs will have a Media Guide search function that allows you to find movies by title or by actor name in program guides, media libraries and online video rentals. A detailed description of the films will make the choice easier. over, Media Guide will not consider video files stored on your home network or external hard drives. If you wish, you can view recommendations for choosing films based on previously watched films.
■ Google TV. Speaking of the search function, the pertinent question to ask is when will Google TVs appear? In the US, Sony is already offering devices that have not yet been successful. The reason is that video content providers do not want to tie their services to Google TV, which is why the content offered by the search giant for viewing on TV is very scarce at present. Nonetheless, LG and Samsung intend to roll out Google TV later this year. In Europe, Sony plans to enter the market with Blu-ray and network players that support Google TV on any TV. There is still no information about what video services will be available, as well as about the choice of applications from Google Play (formerly Android Market) that can be installed on TVs.

The direction is right: using web services with new remote controls, voice control and gesture control has become much easier, and a mouse and keyboard are no longer needed.

Controlling buttons on the panel

Each TV has a control panel. Depending on the model, it is located in front or on the side, rarely. behind the device. The control panel, located on the TV body, is a dedicated part that is equipped with several buttons. Each button has specific icons and legends.

If the control panel is located at the front, it is most often hidden. To start operating the TV settings in manual mode, you need to remove or flip the cover from the buttons by lightly pressing it.

Before you start using, you must carefully study all the labels and symbols located near the buttons. The standard panel, which is equipped with almost all popular models of Samsung TV receivers, is located at the front of the device in the lower right corner.

The control system includes the following buttons.

  • POWER. By pressing this button, you can turn on or off the TV.
  • MENU. Pressing this key enters the device menu. From the menu it is possible to adjust the brightness, contrast, and other necessary parameters.
  • OK. Confirmation button. By selecting the desired menu item or setting parameter and then pressing OK, the change made is confirmed and saved.
  • VOLUME. There are usually 2 buttons under this label. One with a “-” sign and the other with a “” sign. With their help, you can reduce or add the sound emitted by the device.
  • CHANEL. This key is necessary to scroll through the channels. There are also 2 buttons under this inscription, which allows you to switch channel numbers either upward or downward.

If your TV model assumes that the keys are located on the side or rear panel, their functions will be the same as the keys located on the front panel, so the operation will be identical.

How to control a joystick?

The latest models of Samsung plasma panels, instead of the usual set of keys for manual control, are equipped with only a lever with one button. It’s called a joystick. It is very easy to operate the TV settings with the joystick button. The device of such a control lever is a large flat button on a small foot that can rotate in any direction. When moving the joystick, you need to follow the prompts on the screen and when the desired item appears, you should:

  • press the center of the button if you need to enter the menu or confirm the changes made;
  • press the upper edge of the key to switch the channel number upward or move upward through the menu items;
  • press the bottom edge of the button to switch the channel number downward or downward in accordance with the menu items;
  • press down on the left edge of the key to decrease the sound;
  • press the right edge of the button to increase the volume.

When operating the TV with a joystick, you need to be careful, and when you press, the pressure should be applied directly to the center of the button.

If the movements are not clear, the pointer may jump over the desired point and the control system will work incorrectly.

How to control a Samsung TV without a remote control?

Any modern Samsung TV model is equipped with a remote control (RC). Due to the high sensitivity of the sensors installed on the devices of this brand, the TV can be controlled with the remote control from a long distance. At the same time, even without the strict aiming of the remote control at the receiving panel of the device.

But it may happen that it will be impossible to control the television panel using the remote control. The remote control may get lost, broken, or the batteries may be discharged. If the repair of the old one or the replacement of the new one cannot be done at the moment, then you can manage the settings without it.

Mobile phone use

You can also customize your TV without using the remote control using your mobile phone. Not all Samsung LCD panel models have this functionality. For this type of control, you need to install a special program Samsung TV Remote on your smartphone.

The TV must also have a set of certain functions:

  • the presence of Wi-Fi;
  • Smart TV function.
  • the presence of an Ethernet port;
  • the remote control function on the mobile device.

If all of the above conditions are met, you need to launch the application installed on the phone. In the proposed interface, 2 screens will appear on the screen of the mobile device. One of the fields will contain buttons with channel numbers. And by going to the second field, you can manage menu items.

The designation of the keys in such a mobile application is the same as on the remote control or on the TV panel. Therefore, management will not be difficult. The advantage of this type of control is that you do not need to point your mobile device at the TV. you can even change channels from another room.

Thus, you can watch TV even without a remote control. And several proposed control options will help you choose the most suitable one in a particular situation.

How to control the TV using your phone, see below.

What is All Samsung TV?

We have already mentioned the All Share application, but now we will only tell you more about its functionality. The main task of the program is to provide easy interaction between smartphones, tablets, computers and TV. With its help, we can play video on a large screen, as well as include music. File exchange between a number of devices is also available.

How to connect PC to Samsung Smart TV via:

We can connect a computer to a TV in two main ways: wireless and wired. The advantage of the first is ease of use, since there is no need to buy a cable and conduct it. But in the wired version, the signal is more stable and reaches the TV faster. If response time is important, we recommend that you prefer this option.

All modern TVs from Samsung support DLNA, which makes it possible to set up PC synchronization with the TV. Of the necessary tools for the implementation of the idea: the All Share application (it is already preinstalled on the TV) and a high-quality Wi-Fi network.

How to connect Samsung Smart TV to computer via Wi-Fi:

  • Right-click (RMB) on the connection and go to “Network Control Center.”.
  • Select additional parameters from the left menu.
  • We activate the sections “Enable Network Discovery” and “Enable Sharing”.
  • Click on the “Save changes” button.
  • Installing the All Share application.
  • We launch it and register the device (button on the main screen).
  • Turn on the TV and press the “Smart Hub” remote control button.
  • Launch the AllShare Play application (it should be available on the home screen).
  • Select a file from a computer or switch to wireless screen mode.

Important! All Share is currently not actively supported on PC, so it is appropriate to use alternative programs for creating DLNA servers. Here are some good options: Home Media Server, Plex. Serviio.

Another proprietary application has similar functions. Smart View. With its help, we can transfer the image from the work screen to the TV, as well as control TV from mobile devices.

This is a simpler in concept, but difficult to implement method, how to connect Samsung Smart TV to a computer. All there is to it. connect TV to PC via HDMI cable.

Tips on how to connect your computer to Smart TV:

  • The computer must have a free HDMI slot. Not all PCs have an additional port, if there is only one and you also need to connect a monitor, you will have to constantly rearrange the cables, which is very inconvenient.
  • Make sure the computer can handle image processing. The disadvantage of this method is that work with a picture is performed on a PC, and a ready signal comes to the TV. Thus, the TV hardware is practically not used, and the computer works under greater load.
  • A cable connection is inconvenient for a TV set in another room. Better to use the wireless option.
  • It is better not to buy a cable longer than 5-10 m, as the signal may be lost.

Smart TV control from a computer

The control method depends on how you connect your Samsung Smart TV to your computer. If we are talking about a wired connection, then all data from the PC monitor is automatically transmitted to the TV (if the playback mode is HDMI). In the case of a wireless connection, the aLGorithm is slightly different.

How to play a file on a TV from a computer:

  • We open the program in which the DNLA server was created.
  • Select the folder where movies or videos are stored.
  • Click RMB on a file of a suitable format and select “Play on.”.
  • We indicate the TV, which should have previously been synchronized with the PC.

How to connect a computer to a Samsung Smart TV?

A television can perform many more functions than broadcasting TV channels. One of the possible modes of operation is as a device for duplicating an image from a computer. This will allow you to quickly turn on any movie from the Internet, hard drive and simply display the picture from the monitor, improving the user’s gaming experience. There are many more situations for synchronizing TV with a PC, but our material is not devoted to researching the reasons, but how to connect a computer to a Samsung Smart TV.

TV does not see the computer, what to do?

  • If a wired connection is established, we check the health of the cable and connector on the computer.
  • Switch the TV to HDMI playback mode. In the “Source” section, set “HDMI”, the option can also be moved to the main screen or available using the button on the “Source” remote control.
  • Updating drivers for your computer.
  • Install another DNLA server. Replacing a program often helps.

Unfortunately, sometimes the program for transferring the picture gets update curves that prevent communication between the PC and TV. For example, the crooked update from March 3, 2020 to Samsung Smart View broke many functions, including the detection of external devices.

Connecting a TV to a computer is not a difficult task, but you also need to figure it out, otherwise it is easy to make a mistake. We have shown the main methods for transferring images that really work and do not require unnecessary adjustment manipulations. The reader only needs to choose a wired or wireless connection option.

Commutation

The supplied black power cable (length 1.5 m) is equipped with a compact L-shaped plug and connector.

Note the presence in the delivery set of an insulating corner insert for the antenna cable. It will protect the electronics of the TV from the high voltage that occurs in the antenna cable due to poorly neutralized connected devices. A side effect of using this insert is some signal attenuation.

The table with characteristics at the beginning of the article gives an idea of the communication capabilities of the TV. All connectors are standard, full-sized and free-spaced. At least basic support for HDMI control works: the TV itself switches (and turns on if it was turned off) to the HDMI input when you turn on the player and start the disc for playback. Also, the player turns off when the TV is turned off.

In Cast mode, you can send a screenshot of your mobile device and sound to your TV over Wi-Fi. In principle, if you have a modern mobile device and fast Wi-Fi, you can watch a movie in this way. the delay is not very large, frames are rarely skipped, compression artifacts are additionally introduced, but you can put up with it.

Play multimedia content

In superficial testing of the playback of multimedia content, we limited ourselves to a number of files launched mainly from external USB drives. UPnP (DLNA) servers can also be sources of multimedia content. We tested 2.5 ″ hard drives, an external SSD and regular flash drives. After the absence of a long treatment and in the standby mode of the TV itself, the hard drives were disconnected. Note that the TV supports USB drives with at least FAT32, exFAT and NTFS file systems, and there were no problems with Cyrillic names of files and folders. The TV player detects all files in folders, even if there are a lot of files on the disk (more than 100 thousand).

We have confirmed the TV’s ability to display bitmap graphic files in JPEG, MPO (one-angle), PNG and BMP formats, including in the form of a slideshow with transition effects and with selected background music. Images with a size of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels are output one-to-one pixel by pixel in true 4K resolution without even loss of color clarity.

In the case of audio files, many common and not very common formats are supported, at least AAC, MP3, MP4, OGG, WMA (and with 24 bit), M4A, WAV, AIFF, MID and FLAC (the extension must be exactly FLAC). At least tags are supported in MP3, OGG and WMA (Russian must be in Unicode) and cover pictures in MP3.

A wide variety of containers and codecs are supported for video files (up to H.265 with 10 bits and UHD resolution at 60 fps with HDR), multiple audio tracks in a variety of formats (but DTS tracks are not played), external and embedded text subtitles (Russians should be in Windows-1251 encoding or Unicode). There are a lot of subtitle settings.

Disc images are played only by files, without menus, etc. You can choose from a maximum of 14 audio tracks, this can become a significant limitation, for example, in the case of BD images (in this case, subtitles are not displayed at all).

voice, control, Samsung, smart

However, the TV does not play videos from AVI and MKV containers in DivX 3 and MPEG4 ASP codecs, and DivX and OGM container files are not displayed in the file list at all. However, if we restrict ourselves to modern and more or less common video file formats, then with a very high probability the TV will play them. Supports playback of HDR video files (HDR10 and HLG; containers: WebM, MKV, MP4, TS; HEVC (H.265), AV1 and VP9 codecs), and in the case of files with 10 bits per color, according to visual assessment of the shades of gradation, more than 8-bit files. Thus, this TV has at least nominal HDR support, nominal, since the maximum brightness is still not very high, and the color gamut is not wide. An example of source of HDR content is the preinstalled YouTube app, which was able to watch videos in 4K resolution with HDR and even 60 fps.

Test videos for determining the uniformity of frame rotation helped to reveal that the TV, when playing video files, adjusts the screen refresh rate to the frame rate in the video file, so the files are played with equal frame duration. In the standard video range (16-235), all shades are displayed. The maximum bitrate of video files, at which there were no artifacts yet, when playing from USB media was 200 Mbps (H.264, http://jell.yfish.us/), via Wi-Fi (network in the 5 GHz band). 200 Mbit / s, over a wired Ethernet network. 90 Mbit / s. In the last two cases, the media server of the Asus RT-AC68U router was used. The statistics on the router show that the Wi-Fi transmission / reception speed is 866.7 Mbps, that is, an 802.11ac adapter is installed on the TV.

Native means for playing content can display dynamic (video files) and static (pictures / photos) images in a true resolution of 3840 × 2160. All other programs display an image in 1920 × 1080 resolution, but apparently some of them (the same YouTube) can output video in a true resolution of 3840 × 2160 using hardware decoding.

The volume of the built-in speaker system can be considered sufficient for a typical living room. There are highs and mids, and there is also a bit of low frequencies. The stereo effect is felt, although not very pronounced. The sound is clearly coming from below. There are cabinet spurious resonances, especially felt at certain frequencies. However, in general, taking into account the class of the TV, the quality of the built-in acoustics should be recognized as good.

Let’s compare the frequency response of this TV with the frequency response of two high-end TVs (obtained using a sound level meter when playing a sound file with pink noise, measuring SPL in 1/3 octave intervals):

It can be seen that this TV does not have the lowest frequencies, but otherwise the frequency response is more or less even.

Recall that sound can be transmitted to the TV via Bluetooth, while the TV switches to Ambient mode and turns on the Wall of Music dynamic screensaver.

This screensaver can be reduced to a small player window, and you can choose another version of the Ambient screensaver. you get a picture with music. Conversely, you can connect headphones or an external audio system to the TV via Bluetooth.

Measurement of brightness characteristics and power consumption

The brightness measurements were carried out at 25 points of the screen, located with a step of 1/6 of the width and height of the screen (screen borders are not included), in the mode when connected to a PC with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Dynamic backlight dimming does not work in this mode. Contrast was calculated as the ratio of the brightness of the white and black fields at the measured points.

Parameter Average Deviation from the average min.,% max.,%
Black field brightness 0.27 cd / m² −18 thirteen
Brightness of the white field 260 cd / m² −17 12
Contrast 960: 1 −4.1 3.0

Hardware measurements have shown that the contrast for this type of matrix is typical by modern standards. The uniformity of the white and black fields is average, but the uniformity of the contrast is good, apparently, it is the brightness of the backlight that mainly varies across the screen area. On the black field, you can notice some variation in the backlight across the screen area:

It can be seen that the black field mostly darkens towards the edges, but there are also slightly overexposed areas at the edges of the matrix. In fact, due to the sufficiently high contrast, you pay attention to this only when displaying a black field in full screen in complete darkness and after adapting the eyes, it is difficult to see the unevenness of black illumination in real images and at home.

How to Turn Samsung TV Voice Guide On & Off

There is a function to dynamically adjust the brightness of the backlight. In most modes, it is enabled and separately the user cannot turn it on or off. If it is active, then the brightness decreases in dark images and on a black field in the entire screen, the backlight is turned off completely. When changing from dark to light images, the brightness of the backlight increases. There is no particular benefit from this function, but the constant brightness change is very annoying. However, in PC connection mode, you can get rid of this by setting the refresh rate to 60, 59, 30 or 29 Hz. The graph below shows how the brightness (vertical axis) changes when switching from a black field (after 5 seconds of exposure) to white with the dynamic backlight dimming function on and off:

The table below shows the brightness of the white field in full screen when measured in the center of the screen and the power consumption (no USB devices connected, sound off, Wi-Fi active, setting values provide maximum brightness):

Setting value Brightness Brightness, cd / m2 Power consumption, W
fifty 288 88.5
25 120 45.0
0 eleven 20.3
50, Clear LED mode 109 44.4

The maximum brightness changes slightly depending on the temperature of the matrix. In standby mode, the TV consumes less than 0.5 W, but at the same time it can be turned on via both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. TV turns on from standby in about 5.5 seconds.

At maximum brightness, the image will not appear faded in a lit room, while in complete darkness, you can set a comfortable brightness level. There is an automatic adjustment of the backlight brightness to the light level in the room (see the table below), as well as an energy saving function that simply limits the maximum brightness.

Automatic brightness adjustment mode Brightness, cd / m2 Office, 550 lux Darkness
Min. backlight = 0 291 38

In case of Min. backlight = 0 the operation of the automatic brightness adjustment function should be considered more or less adequate.

The brightness of the backlight is controlled using PWM with a frequency of 100 Hz (at 50 Hz refresh rate) or 120 Hz (at 60/24 Hz refresh rate), but in Cinema mode with the Image clarity settings function enabled (all its parameters can be turned off) frequency The PWM is doubled. Below is the dependence of brightness on time, the numbers are the values of the Brightness setting (refresh rate 60 Hz):

At 100 or 120 Hz at medium and low backlight brightness, flicker is visible in some types of images with fast eye movements, and it is also detected in the simplest test for stroboscopic effect. At 200/240 Hz flicker is usually not visible, but it is detected in the stroboscopic test.

There is a function (Clear Image LED) that sharpens objects in motion. see the graph below. This is achieved by modulating the brightness of the backlight with a frequency of 60 Hz, while the brightness of the image is significantly reduced, and the flicker is already clearly visible, and it is very tiring, so this mode has no practical use.

The front heating of the TV can be estimated from the following image from the IR camera, obtained after long-term operation at maximum brightness in a room with a temperature of about 24 ° C:

Apparently, this TV does not use edge, but backlight, not divided into independently controllable zones.

Color quality assessment

To assess the nature of the increase in brightness, we measured the brightness of 256 shades of gray (from 0, 0, 0 to 255, 255, 255) when connected to a PC in RGB mode at 3840 × 2160 and 60 Hz, the Gamma parameter in the TV settings. BT.1886 = 0, Contrast = 50. The graph below shows the increase (not an absolute value!) Of brightness between adjacent semitones:

The growth of the increase in brightness is more or less uniform, and each next shade is significantly brighter than the previous one, even in the darkest area:

The approximation of the resulting gamma curve gave a score of 2.17, which is close to the standard value of 2.2. In this case, the real gamma curve deviates slightly from the approximating power function:

Players may find it useful to have a feature that adjusts the visibility of shadow detail called Shadow Detail. Below is how the gamma curve changes in the shadows at the maximum value of this setting:

It can be seen that the black level slightly (visually it is not even visible) increases, but the visibility of details in the shadows clearly improves. At the same time, in the light part of the gamma curve, the nature of the increase in brightness does not change.

The color gamut varies slightly depending on the selected profile for adjusting the gamut. In the case of Auto profile and normal (SDR) source, the coverage is close to the boundaries of the sRGB color space:

When you select the Initial profile (when available), the coverage increases insignificantly:

Note that in the PC connection mode at 60 Hz frame rate, the coverage is always the same, but the colors still have natural saturation, since the increase in coverage is insignificant.

Below is the spectrum for the white field (white line) superimposed on the spectra of red, green and blue fields (lines of the corresponding colors) for the Initial profile:

This spectrum with a relatively narrow peak in blue and with wide humps of green and red is typical for monitors that use white LED backlighting with a blue emitter and yellow phosphor. In the case of sRGB color space mode, software cross-blending of primary colors to each other slightly increases.

The graphs below show the color temperature at different parts of the gray scale and the deviation from the spectrum of a black body (parameter ΔE) when you select Standard (brightest mode) for the Tint setting and after adjusting the color balance with the gain settings of the three primary colors in the case of Warm1 (values - 0.26 and.38 to enhance red, green, and blue):

The range closest to black can be disregarded, since the color rendition is not so important in it, and the error in measuring the color characteristics is high. Manual correction lowered ΔE in the white field and brought the color temperature closer to the standard 6500 K, while ΔE on most of the gray scale became less than 3 units, which is very good, and both parameters change little from hue to shade on a significant part of the gray scale. this is positive affects the visual assessment of color balance.

Micrographs of the matrix

The revealed characteristics of the screen suggest that this TV has an IPS-type matrix. Micrographs do not contradict this:

Note that there is no explicit “crystal effect” (microscopic variation in brightness and hue).

TV tuner

This model, in addition to a satellite tuner, is equipped with a tuner that receives analog and digital signals for terrestrial and cable broadcasting. The reception quality of digital channels on a decimeter antenna fixed on the wall of the building (almost line of sight towards the TV tower in Butovo, located at a distance of 14 km) was at a high level. we managed to find TV channels in all three multiplexes (30 in total, plus 3 radio channel).

Note that with the default settings, the scaling quality and the resulting picture quality are quite high, even in the case of a normal SD signal. However, some channels and / or programs are of such low quality that even on this TV they look disgusting. Features of Russian free air. There are lists of favorite channels.

There is good support for the electronic program guide (if it is transmitted). you can see what exactly is on the current and other channels, program the viewing of a program or series, etc.

The channel list can be written to a USB-drive and vice versa, loaded from it. Switching between channels takes 2.5-3.5 s. Teletext and subtitle output in particular are supported. True, in the option of overlaying subtitles without a black background, they are not updated.

Appearance

The design is strict, there are no decorative elements. The screen is visually bezel-less, it looks like a monolithic surface bounded at the bottom by a narrow bar, and at the top and sides by a narrow bezel. The piping and placket are made of plastic with a black surface. Chamfers on the edging and on the strip, as well as the frontal plane of the strip, have a texture that imitates an unpolished metal surface. Having displayed the image on the screen, you can see that in fact there are not wide margins between the outer borders of the screen and the actual display area (from the display area to the outer borders of the screen at the top 10 mm, at the sides by 11 mm, and at the bottom. 13 mm). The outer surface of the matrix is black, semi-matte. The matrix does not have any special antiglare properties.

At the bottom, in the center of the frame, there is a small overlay made of tinted plastic. The manufacturer’s logo is depicted on the frontal plane of this overlay in silver paint.

Behind the logo are the IR receiver of the remote control, IR emitters for controlling the equipment connected to the TV and an ambient light sensor. There is a single control button at the bottom of the lining. With the help of a short menu, she can very limitedly control the TV when the remote control is not available. There is also a status indicator. The indicator is dim, in standby mode it glows red, it is practically invisible from the front.

The stand is made in the form of two Y-shaped legs that are inserted into the slots at the bottom end. Legs rest on rubber pads. The distance between the legs is 85 cm. The TV is standing steadily, the rigidity of the stand is sufficient. The TV, installed on a horizontal surface on a standard stand, stands vertically without visible tilt.

An alternative way to install the TV is to mount the TV on a VESA bracket under the threaded holes on the rear panel in the corners of the 200 x 200 mm square. The rear panel casing has a relief in the form of small, orderly spaced bumps.

A strain relief can be snapped onto the rear of each leg to allow cables to run down the legs so that the front and rear view of the TV does not deteriorate.

Some of the interface connectors are located in a niche at the back and are directed to the side. It is relatively convenient to connect cables to them. Next to them, in a shallow niche, there is a slot for a CI card adapter, covered with a sticker with instructions for installing this adapter, and a few more interface slots facing back. It will be very inconvenient to connect to this jack when installing the TV on a wall. Why this is done is not clear, because there is still a lot of free space in the first niche. There is a power connector in a separate small niche.

Electronics cooling air flows through the grilles at the bottom of the case, at the back and at the top of the rear panel.

The TV is completely passively cooled. Built-in loudspeakers with extended diffusers are located behind the grilles at the bottom end. Next to them is the bass reflex hole.

The TV and everything to it is packed in a colorfully designed and durable corrugated cardboard box. Its dimensions do not greatly exceed the width, length and thickness of the screen body. Side slit handles are made for carrying in the box.

Smart TV Remote app. How to Control Samsung TV Using Smartphone

Good day! In today’s short article, you will learn how you can easily control your Samsung Smart TV using your smartphone or tablet on the Android operating system.

And why do you need this at all, you might ask? After all, there is a standard keypad, why all these unnecessary gadgets? And here the author of the article, fundamentally disagrees with you, and here’s why.

Firstly, the factory remote control may fail and as a temporary solution it will be possible to use a soft remote, which can be easily organized using the Smart TV Remote application on a phone or tablet.

Secondly, if you have already tried installing widgets on your “smart” TV, then you may have encountered the problem of entering the ip-addresses of the installation servers on the F-series TV sets, which do not always come with a full-fledged button panel.

In general, as you can see, there are enough reasons for using Smart TV Remote for Samsung TV. It is also worth noting that there is an analogue of this program for devices of other popular brands, for example LG. Well, let’s put it on.

And this despite the fact that the program does not support TVs of the H-series (2014), since Samsung changed the encryption protocols and thereby cut off the possibility of interaction of TVs of this series with third-party applications.

Here is what the Samsung Smart TV Remote developers themselves write about this:

But for the owners of TVs in 2014, I recommend not to get upset about this in advance, since for your “pets”, the manufacturer himself has prepared very interesting mobile solutions.

And in the next articles we will consider them. Therefore, subscribe to blog updates so as not to miss interesting information.

Now let’s move on. At this step, be sure to check that your smartphone and TV are on the same home network and after that launch the application itself:

Now let’s move on to the simple setup of Smart TV Remote. And first of all, we will pair with the TV. To do this, click the button marked in the screenshot below:

In the window that opens, check the box “Automatic search” and click the “Search” button below. The network discovery process will start, as a result of which the application will detect your TV set:

At this time, a message will appear on the TV screen asking for permission to add a new device, answer in the affirmative.

Now select your TV in the program window and click “Finish”. After that, in the status column, the message “Connection established” should appear:

This concludes the simple settings of the Smart TV Remote application. As you can see, everything is very simple. Now let’s move on to the overview of functions. Uh, the fun begins.

For example, if you want to watch terrestrial, cable or satellite broadcasts of programs, the program will easily allow you to select the desired video input:

And when you click on the gear icon, you will open advanced settings. Personally, the author of the article, left everything as it is:

If you click on the plus button, a menu will open where you can edit the channel list:

But since the author prefers to watch television via the Internet, this point turned out to be irrelevant. The purpose of the remaining buttons in the main window of the Smart TV Remote program is intuitive and should not cause difficulties.

I would like to note separately the button with the image of the palm, which, in theory, should activate the touch functions of hand control:

Unfortunately, this feature did not work on the experimental TV (UE40ES6100), so I can’t say how and what works. But if it starts up in your friend, then write in the comments about how it still “functions”.

In the meantime, we are slowly but surely moving on to the analysis of Smart TV functions:

In one line I would like to note one significant drawback, namely: you cannot turn on and off the TV set using the program, and this is very bad. If this opportunity were realized, it would be possible to talk about a complete replacement of the factory remote control.

But if only, if only. We, Slavs, love to dream. On this occasion, I suggest you watch a cool musical parody on this topic.

Sensory

The touch panels have modern controls. Despite the fact that they have a touchpad, buttons can also be found on the surface. In addition, the devices are equipped with elements such as a gyroscope and a built-in microphone. Thus, TV control is maximally modernized and automated. In terms of their external characteristics, touch controls are rather small, most often they are produced in a rectangular case (however, you can also find rounded and curved models).

It should be borne in mind that such remotes are quite expensive, so not everyone will be able to purchase such a device. At the same time, the buttons are grouped depending on what tasks they perform (for example, the buttons for adjusting the sound and switching channels are traditionally located nearby).

Push-button devices are very convenient to use and are relatively inexpensive. Therefore, they are preferred by many users.
