Sony WI C100 review: Unboxing

Sony WI C100 review: Design and Fit

Here comes the first and one of the most important parts of the review, the fitting and design. The neckband-style earphones don’t have a rigid neckband as Sony preferred the bendable base for that. They are pretty light in weight and can be comfortably carried all day long.

The neckband-style earphones have a control button at the left edge, including volume up/down and power on off. You can see the Sony branding at the right edge of the device. The LED indicator for pairing and charging is also placed on the left edge. We’ll talk further about this in the features section. I used it straight for almost 6 hours, and trust me, there was no sign of ear pain or anything like that.

One major drawback with the design is that if you are planning to enjoy your favourite movie while lying on the couch then the earphones can spoil the moment. Due to their rubber-based design, they fall off whenever you lay down, which is not the case when you use any neckband-style earphone with a rigid design.

Sony WI C100 review: Connectivity and Controls

The most amazing part about these earphones is that they can be connected to any and every device that has a Bluetooth support. The device can be simply connected to your smartphone with Bluetooth. For further customization, you can head to the Sony headphones app available on the Google Play Store.

As per my experience, the app provides you complete liberty to make changes in the sound quality to make the experience more personalized. The app also shows you a tutorial on how you can use your headset to make the process convenient for you.

The volume control buttons can also be used to play the next and the previous track. Apart from that, you can put the earphones in the pairing mode by long pressing the power button.

It can be charged via any USB Type-C charger. The earphones also have a swift pair feature that allows you to connect the device with your Pc in a blink.

One thing which turned out as a major problem was the distance. As soon as you step out of the room without the connected device, the earphones start lagging. Apart from that, I have no complaints regarding connectivity or controls of the neckband.

Sony WI C100 review: Sound quality

We can say that the sound quality is the most important part of an earphone. Because it plays a major role in deciding whether you should go for the device or not. I started the journey with the basics, played a couple of my favorite songs, and the experience was good.

Here the highlight is that at the full volume, you will not get any displeasing sensation as the audio optimization of the device is a point. Nevertheless, every coin has two sides, and as per my experience with different devices, the audio quality differs in every case.

Still, most of the time, you will get the best output. The experience skyrockets when you switch the DSEE mode on by visiting the companion app. The Digital Sound Enhancement Engine or DSEE mode of Sony improves the audio to a great extent. My personal opinion will be to keep the feature activated every time.

After that came the real audio testing part when I started listening to Ride The Lightning by Warren Zeiders. Without a doubt, the audio was decent, and the beats were clear and crispy. over, audio calls have never been this smooth with any other budget earphones. The clarity of audio input and output is unmatchable for sure. There we no disconnection or lagging issues recorded while taking the calls.

Sony WI C100 review: Battery

Who on this earth will not want their earphones to go on for long hours? Actually, no one. Sony has made sure that you don’t rush to find charging sports every now and then. The Sony WI C100 neckband-style earphones come with a battery that can go on for straight 25 hours once charged completely, as per Sony.

However, at the time of using the device as a daily driver, it lasted for around 21 hours and a few minutes on average. The cherry on the cake is that the earphones get fueled up very quickly. You can listen to your couple hours long playlist without any issues after charging them for 15 to 20 minutes.

Sony WI C100 verdict: Why you should go for them?

So, on a conclusive note, we can say that the Sony WI C100 earphones are perfect for the audience that is looking for decent audio quality at an affordable price point. On the comfort part, the reaction is quite mixed because the neckband-style earphones are comfortable while sitting but not while lying down or doing some physical activity.

No doubt, the IPX4 rating protects them from multiple factors that can damage it. If you are someone who is looking for comfort, then you can ditch this one by Sony. However, if you are an audiophile and want the best audio experience, then buy it right now.

Sony WI-C100 Review, Best Wireless Headphones Under 2000 Rs.

Sony recently added a new entry-level neckband to their C Series, which they call Sony WI-C100. This neckband is released at an introductory price of Rs. 1,699. Well, personally speaking, I have been a big fan of neckbands for a very long time, and the reason is the same as most neckband lovers out there. They are very comfortable to wear and are always connected, unlike the TWS earbuds, which you have to connect every time you want to use them and have to pack them back as soon as you are done.

Sony is a master in their audio quality, which is why people prefer to pick their products over the competition. I have tested numerous sound products from Sony, and they have never failed to impress me. It would be interesting to see what Sony offers at a budget price like this. So let’s not waste any time and jump right into it.

Box Content

Starting with the box contents, you get some basic paperwork and two spare pieces of ear tips that you can replace with the medium-sized ear tips that come in by default. And next, you will be getting your neckband which I got in Black color, but you can go with the Blue, White, or Taupe color variant. That would be all you get in the box, and I know your next question: What about the charging cable? Well, there is no charging cable at all, and Sony should have included one at this price point, but there is nothing that you can do apart from keeping a Type-C charging cable prepared.

Design Build

Moving on with the design and build, Sony WI-C100 follows a highly minimal and simple design which is not so common in the neckbands I have been testing lately. Well, this could turn out to be a good pick for those who prefer minimal designs, but at the same time, some may find it overly basic. The whole neckband is made out of plastic, and the build quality is average compared to the other neckbands in the same price segment. However, it is still worth mentioning that despite having a plastic build, the WI-C100 does not feels cheap by any terms, which is a good point.

The plastic build on a neckband has its own advantages, but lightweight is the most significant plus point. It weighs only 20 grams, which makes it one of the lightest neckbands in the segment. This lightweight body makes it extremely comfortable when worn for a long duration.

I would have loved it if Sony had offered magnetic ear tips with these, as they come in really handy in day-to-day usage. The neckband comes with an IPX4 rating, so you are free to wear them during your sweaty gym sessions.

One complaint I have with these neckbands is that the wire of the neckband is fragile, and the length feels inadequate, which sometimes, during exercises or running, causes it to slide to the backside of the neck.

Comfort

Moving down to the comfort, the Sony WI-C100 would be a straight winner. The first main reason would be the lightweight body that I have already mentioned above. A light body of any wearable device acts as a plus point, especially if we are talking about a device meant to be worn for an extended period.

SONY WI-C100 HEADPHONES CONNECT APP

The ear tips are very small and have a unique shape that securely fits inside your ears. This shape also helps in canceling some background noises to an extent, which means you will not miss active noise cancellation that much. Since the wire is not that lengthy, there are no hassles of wires getting tangled.

Features Connectivity

The neckband comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and Google Fast pair support, making it quickly pair with your smartphone. The central capsule has three control buttons that allow you to change volume, track, attend calls, and even access Google Assistant or Siri. You get a USB Type-C port on the same capsule to charge your neckband.

The neckband also comes with an inbuilt microphone, making it easy for you to take calls and meetings from the neckband itself. If we talk about the microphone quality, I would say it is pretty decent and similar to what you would expect from a neckband at this price point. It captures most of the background noises but still performs well enough for you to take calls and meetings from it without any issues.

Audio Quality

Finally, the part which most of you have been waiting for: the Audio Quality. Well, Sony has been known for the audio quality it offers and has stayed unbeatable in its segment for a while. The Sony WI-C100 packs 9 mm Neodymium drivers, specially tuned to sound more natural. It comes with SBC and AAC codec support; although Sony should have at least included their LDAC codec, sadly, it’s not there.

However, this does not mean Sony has not done anything impressive with these neckbands. They have done a fantastic job which will surely take your music listening experience to the next level. Firstly, it comes with Sony’s DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) support which you would mostly get on high-end Sony products. This engine enhances the audio quality, making it sound richer and more natural. To use this feature, you will need to install the Sony Headphone Connect app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices. You also get Sony’s Equalizer, where you can choose from a bunch of Equalizer presets and even tune it as per your liking.

You also get Sony’s 360 Reality Audio support which gives you an immersive 360 audio experience. Overall the sound quality of this neckband is pretty impressive. The audio volume is not very high, which does not hurt your ears. You also get a bass boost mode in the app, which you can enable if you are a bass lover.

Battery

The WI-C100 comes with quick charge support, which means a quick charge of 10 minutes can offer you a battery backup of about 60 minutes. If I talk about my experience, this neckband can easily provide a battery backup of 22 hours on a single charge which is a pretty decent number for this price point. It takes about 3 hours for a full charge.

Verdict

Now comes the real question, is Sony WI-C100 a good purchase under Rs. 2,000? Well, if music and audio quality are your priority, then there is nothing that can match up to what WI-C100 has to offer. The sound quality is very impressive, and the other quirks like DSEE support and 360 Reality Audio support take the audio listening experience to the whole another level.

However, if your priority is a good-looking neckband with good build quality or a neckband with ANC support, you might need to look for better alternatives.

At last, this would be all from my side about the Sony WI-C100 neckband review. If you have queries regarding this product or any other general questions or suggestions, feel free to drop them down in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев below, I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks for reading.

Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones review: Premium resonance built for everyone

If you are in the market for inexpensive branded wireless earphones, you should read our Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones review.

While many think Sony builds gadgets and devices only for the wealthy, that is not true. They have a wide variety of products for everyone, and the best example is Sony WI-C100 wireless neckband earphones. We got to play with them for a few weeks and this is what we could make of the new premium yet inexpensive behind-the-neck Band wireless earphones. To know more read the rest of the Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones review below.

Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones review: Design

Coming in an almost fully biodegradable package, the Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones do look like many others in the market. However, these have a premium feel. The package also has a couple of extra silicone ear tips along with the wireless neckband. Though these get charged using a USB Type-C cable, the package does not carry one. This in our books is ok, as most of us do have a USB Type-C charger and one can easily charge these with it. Hence, Sony was able to keep its price low.

The build quality of the Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones is quite nice. You get 9MM audio drivers inside a sturdy enclosure which is connected to a robust wire and battery pods, and a thick neckband. The Sony branding can be found on the right battery pod, while the microphone along with volume and power buttons can be found on the left one.

The Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones are also IPX4 rated, which means nothing will happen to them if light water splashes or sweat falls on them. We took them out our for a run in light rain and nothing went wrong. Just make sure the USB charging point on the left pod is secured with the supplied rubber gasket.

Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones review: Performance

Now coming to the performance of the Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones. We were amazed at how well these performed. The price is so not Sony, yet the audio is very Sony. We played a wide variety of things with them. These included music streaming via Amazon Music, Netflix shows on the mobile, YouTube videos and also a bit of gaming. In the first three, we had an absolute rocking time, as the highs, mids and lows are very audible and clear. The only place we felt it lacked was the bass.

But that was taken care of as soon as we added the Sony Headphones Connect app to our smartphone. There are plenty of good equaliser modes on the app and they certainly help boost the bass. Happy with that, we will not recommend them for pro gaming, but if you are a casual gamer and want to enjoy PUBG or Shadow Fight (informally) then they are fine. Also, if they were magnetic like OnePlus’s Bullets are and they could clamp together using magnets, it would have been a boon. For wireless connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0 is supported. We took up to a distance of 30 feet from the source (with a wall in between)and they worked without any distortion.

Sony claims that the battery of Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones lasts for 25 hours. We got over 22.5 hours after a full charge, which is great. Also, these can give 1 hour of playback with just 10 minutes of charge. They also support popular voice AI like Google Assistant. Over that, they passively cancel noise thanks to the suctions the silicone tips create. So you end up hearing just good audio at high volume, but at 60% or below you end up hearing ambient as well music sounds.

Verdict

So, at Rs 2,790 are the Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones worth buying? Yes! They are. This is inexpensive first-class audio coming from the house of Sony in a premium shell. If you have a budget of Rs 1,500 – 2,000 for your neckband or TWS earphones, then we certainly recommend extending it a little further and picking the Sony WI-C100 wireless earphones instead.
