What is Samsung DeX and what devices does it work on?
Samsung DeX. it is not hardware. it is a software platform that turns your smartphone or tablet into a desktop computer. It works on all of Samsung’s flagship smartphones introduced since 2017, including the Galaxy S8 / S8. Note8, S9 / S9. Note9, S10e / S10 / S10. Note10 / 10.S20 / S20 / S20 Ultra, Note20 / Note20 Ultra, and Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Fold2.DeX is also available on Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, Tab S5e, Tab S6, Tab S7 and rugged Tab Active Pro where it can be use directly on a tablet screen with a keyboard case or on a connected monitor with an external keyboard and mouse.
The first version of Samsung DeX, released in early 2017, required a docking station (DeX Station or DeX Pad) to operate and connect peripherals. With the launch of the Note9 in August 2018, Samsung introduced the DeX HDMI adapter, cable and multiport adapter, eliminating the need for previous dock accessories.
Using DeX with a PC
The classic original version of DeX. that’s all you need for a desktop computer without your PC. However, the new DeX PC app, available on the Note10, S20 and Note20 series, now lets you use DeX with your laptop.
To use DeX for PC, no additional adapter is required as you simply use your smartphone’s USB-C charging cable to connect to your PC, however, you must first install the DeX PC app on your compatible Windows or Mac laptop. Once you’ve installed the app and connected your phone, DeX will download automatically. You can view DeX for PC in full screen mode or as a floating window along with laptop applications.

Adjusting Display Settings: The first time you boot DeX, you will be prompted to check if the desktop is displayed correctly on your monitor or TV. If the corners of the DeX desktop do not fit properly within the screen, you will need to go to your monitor’s or TV’s settings menu to adjust the zoom. this is especially common on TVs where the image can be adjusted to a specific aspect ratio. Select the “Fit to Screen” option and you’re done.
Screen Mirroring vs. DeX Mode Comparison: In the phone notifications menu after connecting to a monitor, you’ll see several new options, including the ability to switch between screen mirroring and DeX mode. As the name suggests, the Screen Mirroring feature simply displays the image on the phone screen on the monitor. Screen mirroring is useful in some cases, but DeX gives you a completely different, fully optimized desktop experience for big screen productivity. Tap the notification to enter DeX mode.
Use your phone as a touchpad: Also in the notification menu on your phone, you will see an option to use your phone as a touchpad. With this option selected, you can use your finger or S Pen to navigate DeX. This is great if you don’t have a mouse close at hand and want to open an app, PowerPoint, or video, especially if you’re using DeX in your presentation settings. When using DeX on a tablet, you can also use your screen as a graphics panel for sketching and drawing.
Launch and Grow Your Mobile Apps: All major Samsung apps are optimized for DeX, which means you can resize and grow apps. You can also use the right click function and keyboard shortcuts. There are dozens of third-party applications fully optimized for DeX, including the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Photoshop Lightroom, Photoshop Sketch, Gmail, Chrome, BlueJeans, GoToMeeting, and all the leading VDI clients to name just a few. Activate DeX Labs: DeX Labs offers access to “experimental” features that are not officially supported. Two current features include DeX’s ability to force resize apps and automatically open the last used app. To activate, click the DeX logo in the lower right corner of the screen, open DeX Labs and enable features. Now, when you open an app that is not optimized for DeX, you will have the option to force the resize. This will allow you to view it in a large window or even fully expanded.
Samsung DeX HDMI Adapter
To switch to Samsung DeX using an HDMI adapter, follow these steps:
- Connect Samsung Note 9 or Tab 4 to an external monitor using HDMI to USB Type-C cable.
- Connect your keyboard and mouse to your mobile device via Bluetooth. Alternatively, you can connect a mouse and keyboard via a USB dongle.
In some cases, it is really better to use applications to take screenshots, in addition, with the help of them, you can record videos, set a timer, capture a screen at a certain time and other possibilities.
With the palm of your hand on certain models
On devices such as Galaxy Note, Galaxy S, you can take a screenshot by swiping the edge of your palm from the right side of the screen to the left or vice versa.

With home button
If your device has it, you can take a screenshot by pressing it simultaneously with the power button.
Also, if you have a completely old device and it has buttons: “Home”, “Back” and “Call open applications”. The screen is done by clicking “Home” and “Back”.
Without home button
Works on models without a mechanical home button. all new ones. To take a screenshot, press the volume down and power buttons at the same time. On some models, they need to be held down for a couple of seconds in order for the picture to be taken.

Search for screenshots on the device

either in the device memory using the standard My Files application or another file manager.
- The button for creating a scrolling screenshot will be added to the panel with additional options automatically when it becomes possible to create such a screenshot. First, use one of the methods described above, and then tap the down arrow icon. When the screen scrolls, click it again and continue to do this until we capture the desired area.

Ways to Take Screenshots on Samsung Galaxy A10

Swipe across the screen from top to bottom to bring up the notification area, tap on the image to view it,
or press the arrow on the right to perform additional actions.
