    Typical Windows Installation Problems

The most common among users are two typical mistakes, the admission of which in the process of preparing for the installation of Windows can make it impossible to successfully conduct an upcoming event.

First, the wrong choice of format at the stage of formatting a flash drive.

The note was provided in the instructions for creating bootable media. When using other programs, be guided by the situation. the recommendations remain relevant.

Second, using the wrong boot image. Windows installation discs fall into two categories:

    • bootable. intended for “clean” installation of the operating system;
    • not bootable. they are mainly used to solve various problems and work only from under the Windows interface.

To cope with the installation of the operating system according to the above sequence, the user must correctly emulate the image on a disk / flash drive.

To do this, check the settings in the program for creating a bootable drive for compliance with the presented requirements.

Thus, self-installation of Windows on Lenovo is not overly complicated: you just need to consistently follow the corresponding recommendations. Follow the instructions of the studied manual, be careful at every stage, and everything will definitely work out.

How to install Windows 7 on Lenovo laptop instead of Windows 8

Now, in fact, the very process of installing Windows.

After rebooting, you do not need to press any keys, although we have assigned the F12 key to enter the boot device selection menu, the laptop will find the boot device itself and show the installation menu.

At the beginning of the installation, be sure to select Full installation.

    Downloading the installer

The very first problem that you may encounter is persistent loading from the hard disk and ignoring the disk or flash drive inserted into the drive with the operating system distribution kit, for example Windows XP / 7/10. This happens because the BIOS is not configured correctly, namely, the wrong boot order is specified. We need to first enter the BIOS setup. This is done at the initial stage of loading the laptop, a few seconds after turning it on, before loading FREE Dos.

    reinstalling, windows, lenovo, laptop

The system will write that to enter the BIOS (or SETUP), you must press the DEL key or one of the “F1-F12” buttons, usually F2 (depending on the model). On Lenovo G500 series models, you need to press the OneKey Recovery key when the laptop is off, and on some models, FnF2 (F12) works.

Next, we find the “Boot menu” and set the boot priority there. To do this, look for the inscription “First boot device”, go into it and select “CD \ DVD-Rom” from the list that appears. Sometimes a list of bootable devices is not offered, then just go to the position “CD \ DVD-Rom” and move it to the very top by pressing the \-.

To select a USB flash drive, you need to find it by the model name and also move it up. By the way, a USB flash drive can be located in a subsection of hard drives (Hard Drive, HDD). Then we just find an exit from the SETUP program. select “SAVE ALL and EXIT”. “Yes”. Or just the “F10” button. For a one-time boot from a USB flash drive, you can skip entering the BIOS, but instead press F9 and select the boot device from the menu:

For G500 series models, and in general, it is recommended to first reset all default settings (“Load Defaults”) and only then set the desired boot priority. Also check that on the “Startup” tab the value “UEFI / Legacy Boot” is in the “Legacy Only” state, otherwise the installer may not start.

How to reinstall Windows on a Lenovo laptop

Some Lenovo laptops are sold with a pre-installed free operating system FREE Dos123, which, to put it mildly :), is not suitable for work. Many owners of Lenovo laptops (and not only) are faced with the problem of self-installation of the operating system.

    FAQ

Some are wondering if a special version of Windows is needed for a laptop, as opposed to a personal computer? No, Windows is one for everyone, it is only important to choose the right version: XP or Seven / 10, depending on the configuration of your laptop or candy bar.

To install Windows 7/10, in most cases, it will be enough to know that you have at least two gigabytes of RAM, and for x64 versions you need 4GB or more. Another such moment, if a disk with drivers for Windows 7/10 was supplied with the laptop, and you, for any reason, need to install Windows XP, then before installing it you will have to download all drivers for this OS.

Next, boot from the boot disk with the operating system distribution kit and follow the instructions of the installer. The procedure will be the same as installing on a regular computer. Also, reinstalling is no different from installing. Only at the stage of selecting the target disk, you need to format it, i.e. erase old data. How to reinstall Windows on a laptop

For various reasons, it is sometimes necessary to reinstall Windows. And sometimes, if it is necessary to do this on a laptop, novice users may have various difficulties associated with the installation process itself, installing drivers or other nuances that are peculiar only to laptops. I propose to consider in detail the reinstallation process, as well as some approaches that may allow you to reinstall the OS without any hassle at all.

    Reinstall Windows built-in

In my opinion, this is the best method, but it is not always possible to use it. quite often, when I come to a computer repair call, I see that everything on the client’s laptop, including the hidden recovery partition on the hard disk, has been removed in order to install a pirated Windows 7 Ultimate, with built-in driver packs or subsequent installation of drivers using Driver Pack Solution. This is one of the most unreasonable actions of users who consider themselves “advanced” and thus want to get rid of the laptop manufacturer’s programs that slow down the system.

An example of a laptop recovery program

If you have not yet reinstalled Windows on your laptop (and did not call the would-be masters) and the operating system with which it was purchased is installed on it, you can easily use the recovery tools, here are the ways to do it:

    • For laptops with Windows 7 of almost all brands, in the Start menu there are recovery programs from the manufacturer, which can be identified by the name (contains the word Recovery). By running this program, you can see various recovery methods, including reinstalling Windows and restoring the laptop to factory state.
    • Almost on all laptops, immediately after switching on, on the screen with the manufacturer’s logo, there is a text below which button you need to press in order to start recovery instead of loading Windows, for example: “Press F2 for Recovery”.
    • On laptops with Windows 8 installed, you can go to “Computer Settings” (you can start typing this text on the Windows 8 start screen and quickly get into these options). “General” and select “Delete all data and reinstall Windows”. As a result, Windows will be reinstalled automatically (although there may be a couple of dialog boxes), and all the necessary drivers and preinstalled programs will be installed.

Thus, I recommend reinstalling Windows on laptops using the methods described above. Various assemblies like ZverDVD have no advantages over the preinstalled Windows 7 Home Basic. And there are plenty of shortcomings.

Nevertheless, if your laptop has already undergone inept reinstallations and there is no longer any recovery partition, then read on.

How to reinstall Windows on a laptop without a recovery partition

First of all, we need a distribution kit with the required version of the operating system. a CD or a USB flash drive with it. If you already have one, then great, if not, but there is an image (ISO file) with Windows. you can burn it to a disc or create a bootable USB flash drive (see detailed instructions here). The process of installing Windows on a laptop itself is not very different from installing on a regular computer. You can see an example in the article about installing Windows, which is suitable for both Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Drivers on the official website of the laptop manufacturer

Upon completion of the installation, you will have to install all the necessary drivers for your laptop. In this case, I recommend not using the various automatic driver installers. The best way is to download laptop drivers from the manufacturer’s website. If you have a Samsung laptop, go to Samsung.com, if you have an Acer, then go to acer.com, etc. After that, look for the “Support” or “Downloads” section and download the necessary driver files, and then install them one by one. For some laptops, the order of installing the drivers is important (for example, Sony Vaio), there may also be some other difficulties that you will have to deal with yourself.

After installing all the necessary drivers, you can say that you have reinstalled Windows on your laptop. But, once again, I note that the best way is to use the recovery partition, and when it is not there. installing “clean” Windows, and not “assemblies”.

Hello, I want to download the Windows installer to a USB flash drive and install it on another computer. Can you tell me where the Windows installer is located on the laptop?

You can’t do that. Those. if the laptop is with the original OS, then the installation files are there on a hidden partition, but it is better not to install it on another computer from there. Download the ISO image of the required version of Windows from the official Microsoft website https://remontka.pro/download-Windows-7-8-10-original-iso-microsoft/

As I understand it, you have Windows 7. There is another way: 1. Download the original ISO in the required edition like this: https://remontka.pro/download-Windows-7-8-10-original-iso-microsoft/ 2. Install (the key will pass during installation). 3. When activation fails (and it may not take place after installation for OEM keys), use phone activation. it works.

Hello. There is a Lenovo g580 laptop with win 8 preinstalled. How to move to win 10 while keeping the license? Thanks in advance.

The second way is to view the key from UEFI using a program like ShowKeyPlus, download the ISO image (or make a bootable USB flash drive) from the official Microsoft website, use the key during installation.

There are tons of hidden partitions on the laptop. Which ones can be deleted? I want to install win 10 clean

It depends on what sections are there. In general, ideally, do not touch all partitions at the beginning of the disk, i.e. only systemic and subsequent. The one that you have 10-30 gigabytes hidden there (if any) is a backup copy of the system from the manufacturer, it can come in handy: https://remontka.pro/laptop-factory-reset/ And if there is no such thing and only 100- 500 MB partitions, then in general everything can be demolished, they will be recreated.

the screen is broken on the laptop and the keyboard is faulty, is it possible to use the key from the win 7 OS installed there on another laptop without an OS?

You can try, but not the fact that it will work. But: if you use this key when installing Win 10 on another laptop, then the probability is higher.

And in fact, what is the recovery section? that is, I understand correctly when buying a laptop, the disk is already partitioned and this section contains all the information for recovery?

For most laptops. yes, as you described.

Hello. I have a laptop with win preinstalled. 8.1. I need to reinstall on Windows 10 with editing disk partitions. Those. I have a 1TB rail. I need to split one partition for the system, the second for the file cleaning system. Tell me how to do it. On laptops there was no experience with reinstallation, so I ask for help, I’m afraid to screw it up. And, yes, I forgot, if possible, so that the license is still preserved

Hello. In general, the plan in your case is this, most likely it will be optimal (but still at your own peril and risk, I may not take into account something by chance for your specific installation, but in 95% of cases everything will be ok): 1. We load from a USB flash drive with 10.koy (necessarily in EFI mode. if you see an error that installation is impossible, since the GPT disk means booted into Legacy), at the stage of choosing a partition for installation, we ONLY format the partition with the current 8.1, we do not touch the rest of the partitions, we do not break anything. 2. Select this formatted partition, click “next” we go through the entire installation process. 3. After installation, already in Windows itself, we separate the necessary space in “disk management”. see https://remontka.pro/razbit-HDD/

Why do I recommend not to do anything else at the first step: because independent actions to separate at this stage can lead to the fact that 10-ka sticks “in the wrong place” system partitions, or spoil the factory recovery partition, which may come in handy.

Thanks for the help. And from the disk I cannot install?

Yes, you can. I’m just writing about a USB flash drive, because they usually bet from them, but there is no difference.

Thanks for the answer. But there is one more question. I can say that at the beginning of the installation it is necessary to resize the logical disk. Still, it’s better not to do this, as I understand it? What are the consequences, do not tell?

Why is it mandatory during installation? Believe me, it is more practical and less likely to unforeseen things, it is better to do it already in the installed Windows. It is as simple as during installation. just shrink the partition in disk management, and format the vacated area as a “file bin”. If you start deleting / creating partitions at the installation stage, the problems may be as follows: automatically created partitions in places you do not need (which will interfere in the future and which cannot be prevented from being created), problems with the factory recovery image.

Hello Lenovo laptop. without a floppy drive, with two USB ports. Yesterday I reinstalled the OS, at first I could not install it, it gave an error about a GPT format disk, according to your article I transferred it to MBR. the system got up, but I did not immediately notice that not a single USB port was working at all. and now I can not install the driver. and the drive is wired, does not see. and now I don’t know what to do, I want to reinstall it, through the BIOS I see both the USB flash drive and the floppy drive, the OS boot menu comes out, but when you select the desired OS variation, it just loads what is already installed, that is, the reinstallation does not go, throws it out. sorry that it’s so messy, I hope that I clearly described my problem, otherwise I’m not an expert thanks for the answer.

To reinstall the preinstalled Windows 10 on a laptop, after starting the installer, you need to perform preliminary configuration, partition the disk, and at the end set custom parameters.

    Reinstalling Windows on a laptop

When we talk about reinstalling “Windows” on a laptop, we mean not the simplest process that occurs on desktop PCs. Each model is a unique device with its own set of components. Hence the difficulty: after installing the system, you will need to find and install drivers designed for a particular laptop.

For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that laptops have one huge plus. If the factory system has not been replaced with “our own, more convenient”, then we have the opportunity to use the “native” programs for recovery. They allow you to roll back the OS to the state in which it was at the time of purchase. At the same time, all drivers are saved, which eliminates the need to search for them. In addition, in this case, you will not need installation media, since the disk already has a special section containing files for recovery.

Next, we will look at two ways to reinstall Windows.

    Reinstalling Windows on a laptop

    Installation media

This procedure is no different from that for desktop computers. If you have an installation disc or flash drive, then the installation can be started without additional manipulations. If there is no carrier, then you need to create it.

Next, you need to configure the BIOS settings so that the flash drive is the first in the boot queue.

The final and most important stage is the installation of the operating system itself.

After installation, we will get a clean system that will work for a long time without failures and errors. True, for the normal functioning of all components of the laptop, you must also install all the drivers.

Instructions for finding and installing drivers for a fairly large number of laptops are already on our website. In order to study them, you need to type in the search field on the main page the query “Laptop drivers” without quotes.

If there are no instructions specifically for your model, then read the articles intended for other laptops from this manufacturer. The search and install script will be similar.

    No disk and flash drive

As mentioned above, laptops have a special disk partition on which the utility and files are written to restore the system to the factory state. On some models, this application can be called directly from running Windows. A shortcut containing the word “Recovery” in its name can be searched in the “Start” menu, in the folder with the name corresponding to the manufacturer’s name. If the program is not found or the system cannot be started, you must restart the machine and enter recovery mode. How to do this on different laptop models, we will describe below. Please note that these instructions will not work in all cases, as manufacturers may change some settings or ways to access the section we need.

To boot into recovery mode on Asus, the F9 key is used, sometimes in combination with Fn. It must be pressed after the logo appears when loading. If nothing comes out, you need to disable the boot booster in the BIOS.

The required option is on the “Boot” tab.

Further, two scenarios are possible. If “seven” is installed, then after pressing F9, a warning window will appear, in which you must click OK. Recovery will start automatically.

In the event that “eight” or “ten” is used, we will see a special menu in which you need to go to the diagnostics section.

Next, select the item “Return to its original state”.

The next step is to select the disk with the installed system. This action will enable it to clear user data.

The final stage is pressing the button with the title “Just delete my files”. The recovery process will start.

On laptops from this manufacturer, everything happens similarly to Asus with the only difference that to access the recovery, you must press the ALTF10 key combination at boot.

At Lenovo, the utility we need is called One Key Recovery and can be launched directly from Windows.

If the system cannot be booted, then after turning off the laptop, you need to find a special button on its case (usually above the keyboard).

Pressing it will launch the Novo Button Menu, which contains the utility.

After starting at the first stage, you must select recovery from an automatically created copy and click “Next”.

The start of the rollback process is carried out by the “Start” button in the next window of the “Wizard”.

The examples above will help you understand how to proceed if you need to restore Windows. The main thing here is to know the key combination that will launch this mode. Otherwise, everything happens according to approximately the same scenario. On laptops with Win 7, you just need to select a system and start the process, and on newer systems, find the utility in the “Diagnostics” section. The exception is some Toshiba models, where you need to press the F8 key to bring up the menu of additional boot options and go to the “Troubleshooting computer problems”.

The recovery utility is at the very bottom of the list of available options.

If you cannot find a program from the manufacturer, then most likely the partition was deleted when the new operating system was rolled over. There is still a hope that it will be possible to “roll back” the OS to the factory settings by means of Windows itself. Otherwise, only reinstalling from a disk or flash drive will help.

    reinstalling, windows, lenovo, laptop

In this article, we discussed two options for reinstalling Windows on laptops. The best and most effective in terms of saving time and effort is the restoration of “native” utilities. That is why it is not recommended to “demolish” the factory “Windows“, because after that the hidden section with utilities will be lost. If, nevertheless, the system was replaced, then the only way out is to reinstall from the installation flash drive.

Reinstalling Windows from 10 to 7. On a Lenova B50-30 laptop

On an ordinary simple laptop lenov, you need to reinstall Windows from 10k to 7k. I sort of changed the Windows how many times, including the Lenova G50-45 from 10 to 7, so of course I also had to dance a little with tambourines (change the file system, download healthy driver packs to make the Internet work, and so on), but in general, everything turned out pretty quickly, it’s understandable and it works great, but here something has already been lured straight away. At first, I did not want to load either the BIOS or the boot disk selection menu at all, but stubbornly loaded the OS. As an experienced owner of any kind of barely working scrap metal, I went to the Internet and read that you can open the BIOS differently, you need to select the “special boot options” item in the parameters, and then, after rebooting, in the menu that appears, you can select the item like “boot the system from the media” exactly I do not remember (though in place of this button on the laptop there was an item “Boot parameters” which did not fucking help). but after that, I started to start both BIOS and the disk selection menu as usual through F2 and F12 (no idea how it works at all, because before that I hammered on F2, F12 like a woodpecker? Most likely because of the fucking Fn key (when I connected the wired keyboard it started to run normally)). I think, well, finally, now I’ll put Windows quickly and that’s it, but hell. As soon as it starts reading the flash drive, it starts giving out a blue screen (thank God, not yet death) and with the error “A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down”. In general, I went back to the Internet. I read there that I need to update the controller drivers, dig deeper into the BIOS, but something didn’t help. In general, only I do not skis stupid roofing felts. Can someone tell me how to rearrange this fucking Windows.

The easiest way. You put Windows on a USB flash drive, format the gesture (if there is a 2nd, then you throw the necessary files there along with firewood and other things), install Windows.

A lot of text and nichrome is not clear. 1.can you enter the boot menu (or BIOS)? 2.You can see the flash drive? 3.installer starts?

Wow, you will screw up with the installation from the flash drive of the seven there. Now all new USB laptops come with 3.0. Even where 2.0 is declared, it still somehow passes through the 3.0 controller, which Windows 7 does not know. I would try to install from DVD in this case. And to drop the drivers, unscrew the hard and hook up to the PC via sata (this is, of course, if you are against it so that neither the USB nor the network will get up by themselves after installation) And yes, as already mentioned above, did you change anything in the BIOS? And then native 10 always comes with UEFI, Secure boot and hard in GPT is marked

Try to fill in the original image on the USB flash drive, I had a problem when rolling back from 10 to 7, I just did not want to be put, I gave an error, then I booted from the disk and voila, if at all a blue scribe, then try to install Linux and then I revived the computer.
