Almost everything has been said about the new iPhone 11 in recent days. A review of the phone will appear on our website soon, but for now, here’s a comparison between the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR. I walked around with these phones, and now I’ll tell you why the new one is better than the old one.
How the iPhone 11 looks different from the iPhone XR?
You can distinguish the iPhone 11 from the iPhone XR by the dual camera and new body colors. Instead of coral, bright yellow and blue, lilac, pale yellow and mint green have appeared. Black, white and red remained unchanged.
I like the old color palette more than the new one, but this is all very subjective.
The dimensions of the cases and the weight have not changed at all: the same aluminum frame and glass on the back. durable glass is being used this year, according to Apple. I did not suit the crash test and did not test the phone for strength, so I can only trust the company. From myself, I can say that the screen in the iPhone 11 scratches at exactly the same speed as in the iPhone XR. If you are worried about the safety of your phone, it is better to stick on a protective glass.
What’s up with the camera?
While the iPhone XR had one camera, the iPhone 11 has two. An additional ultra-wide-angle module has appeared, this is a plus, but it does not work with the new night mode. this is a minus. And without autofocus. this is the second minus. Therefore, for spectacular photos in the dark, you need to use the main camera, and not a new additional one.
The quality of daytime shots for this module is average. I personally do not really like it, but for Instagram it will do just fine.
Now let’s compare the cameras. First, turn off the “smart” Smart HDR mode. The colors are very much the same, but what about the details?

Let’s increase. IPhone 11 has richer greens and comparable details.

And if you turn on Smart HDR? IPhone 11 has more saturated colors: clearly visible in blue and green.

I really liked the new night mode, its essence is that the phone takes a series of pictures and stitches them into one frame. It’s a shame the iPhone XR isn’t trained to do this. Meanwhile, the difference compared to the iPhone 11 is very noticeable. Here is a photo in low light. Here, the victory of the new phone over the old one is not discussed: the difference is clearly visible in small details.

Let’s increase. Here it is, the difference: if we see a large bright spot on the iPhone XR, then on the iPhone 11 it turns into a map of the area.
The front camera in the iPhone XR is 7 megapixels, and in the iPhone 11 is already as much as 12 megapixels and a wide-angle module. Taking pictures of yourself on the iPhone 11 is much more interesting: in the frame, not only the head, but also the sights.

If you wish, you can switch to portrait mode. Phones are still pretty rough around the head, and I didn’t see much of an advantage with the iPhone 11 over the iPhone XR.

IPhone 11 also shoots in portrait mode, blurring the background, inanimate objects and animals. in the iPhone XR this feature is absent, the camera only reacts to people.
What’s with the screen?
Nothing has changed at all. The display in the iPhone 11 is exactly the same as in the iPhone XR.
IOS “Settings
The easiest method to set live wallpaper on iPhone is to refer to the corresponding section of the system parameters.

Open the iOS “Settings” and scroll down a little to the second block of options.
Select a suitable image and tap it.
You can get acquainted with the result by exiting the iOS settings and / or by locking the phone screen, depending on which of the available options you chose.
This approach to installing dynamic wallpaper on the iPhone is extremely simple in its implementation, but not without its drawbacks. the set of animated images offered by the system is very limited, depends on the specific device model and iOS version, and cannot be extended by standard means.
Photo application
An alternative to the previous method is to use the standard iPhone application “Photos“, which stores not only pictures and videos taken with the camera, but also other images, including animated ones.
Note! The graphic file that will be set as live wallpaper must be in the MOV format (Live photos created on the main iPhone camera have it, if this option has not been disabled manually).
- Open the Photos app. Find in it the image that you plan to install on the screen, and tap it to view.
- Click on the “Share” button below.
Scroll down the menu and select “Set as wallpaper”.
Follow the steps from the last step of the previous instruction, that is, specify the screen or screens to which the image will be added.
You can see the result by closing the “Photos” application.
Obviously, this method provides more customization options than the iOS “Settings” discussed above. The only difficulty lies in the need to find graphic files in a suitable format.
It is easy to guess that in this way you can set absolutely any compatible image as wallpaper, for example, downloaded from the Internet. If these files are stored in iCloud, do the following to move them to iPhone memory:

Open the Files app and double click on the Browse tab.
Select the “iCloud Drive” section in the side menu.
Find the folder that contains the matching images and open it.
Please note that if it is in the cloud, the download procedure will be initiated first.
After the image is open, click the “Share” button on the bottom panel.
Repeat steps # 1-5 from the previous instruction.
Note that the “Files” application allows you to work not only with data in the cloud, but also with those stored on the internal storage of the phone. Plus, you can connect other cloud storages to it, not only iCloud. To do this, either set the appropriate settings in its menu, or install the service application on the iPhone, launch it and configure it, after which it will automatically appear in the file manager.
Third Party Applications
In the App Store, you can find quite a few applications that provide the ability to set static and dynamic wallpapers, and many of them specialize only in the latter. All of them have not so many differences, and unfortunately, they are endowed with the same drawbacks. advertising and paid distribution (often with a trial version, after which you will have to abandon the use or subscribe not the cheapest subscription). But, since almost every such solution allows you to save animated pictures to the device’s memory, for example, consider how to use two of them.
