Now we need to install and connect a new screen. Unfortunately, you first have to disassemble the iPhone a little more.

  • Remove the HOME button. First, unscrew the screw located in the right corner near the button. Following it, unscrew 2 more screws that attach the button to the plate.
  • Disconnect the ribbon cable carefully from the inner panel. Pull out the button module itself by prying it from the opposite side.
  • Unscrew the remaining 4 screws around the perimeter of the cover plate. Move to the screw located on the panel near the speaker. Remove the last screw on the front panel. Use tweezers to loosen the side hooks of the camera and speaker pressure plate. Carefully disconnect their cables from the front panel.
  • Remove the plate along with the speaker as well as the front camera.

It’s time to reinstall all the missing components located under its plate on the new touchscreen: seals, camera frame and tracking sensor frame.

What skills you need to have. Consequences of incorrect substitution by a layman

Of course, if you plan to do the repair yourself, you must have at least minimal skills in working with portable electronics. If you already had experience in disassembling a laptop or smartphone (with subsequent successful assembly, of course), then you can easily replace the glass on the iPhone 5.

If you doubt your care and accuracy or do not have the skills to work with small electronics, it is better to entrust the issue of replacing the glass on the iPhone to specialists. The fact is that in the process of work, inexperienced craftsmen can make a number of mistakes, after which the iPhone 5 will not turn on at all. For example, an iPhone can be damaged if moisture (even in the form of steam) or dust particles gets inside the case. Sensitive elements such as a board can even suffer from static electricity, so be sure to carry out all work on an anti-static mat. It is even worse if, after successful disassembly and replacement of the display, you cannot correctly connect all the cables.

And a completely anecdotal situation, which, unfortunately, is not so rare: after assembling the iPhone, you suddenly notice that you still have extra screws! Funny and sad at the same time.

Helpful hint: For ease of assembly, we recommend not only remembering the location of the screws, but also drawing up a disassembly diagram. When disassembling, place fasteners in special trays or numbered boxes.

  • Use a pentalobe screwdriver to remove the screws securing the screen module at the end of the iPhone 5.
  • If you have a special tool, iSclack, iPhone disassembly will be easy, fast enough and without causing any damage to the device. If you do not have a lever with suction cups, try replacing it with improvised tools. In this case, you will need a suction cup and a set of spatulas.
  • Start prying the display from the side of the HOME button near the left bolt. Be extremely careful, because the manufacturer has prepared a small “surprise” for you. The fact is that the HOME button cable is located directly under the screen, so if you pull harder than necessary, you risk ripping out the cable or breaking the button. Open the iPhone 5 just enough to insert the tweezers inside and detach the ribbon cable.
  • Then move the spatula around the entire perimeter, carefully detaching the display from the case. Be careful not to damage the connectors. When all fasteners are released, lift the screen with the suction cup and fold it back like a book. Do not try to tear it down abruptly!
  • Once you get to this point, you will notice that the iPhone 5 display flex cable is hidden under the surface of the protective plate, which is secured with four screws. Two of them are 1.7 mm long, the third is 1.2 mm, and the fourth is 1.3 mm. The third and fourth screws cannot be visually distinguished. Note that the 1.3 mm screw is not magnetized, so after unscrewing it can be pulled out only with tweezers with curved paws.
  • Carefully remove the plate, being careful not to touch the connectors of the front camera, screen and sensor.
  • Unfasten all cables in sequence. In principle, the process of removing the old touchscreen can be considered successfully completed.

What is needed

  • Phillips (1.2mm, 1.3mm, 1.6mm, and 1.7mm) and Pentalobe screwdrivers.
  • Plastic tool.
  • Dielectric blade (Spudger).
  • Sucker.
  • Tweezers.
  • New display for iPhone 5s.

IPhone 5s / SE Screen Replacement Instructions. Front Panel Disassembly

Before disassembling your iPhone, make sure it is turned off.

Remove the two 3.9 mm Pentalobe screws next to the backlight connector.

Press the suction cup against the screen just above the Home button.

Make sure the suction cup is fully pressed against the screen.

The front panel snaps into place and connects with ribbon cables to the rest of the phone. At this point, your goal is to remove the front bezel and open the phone just enough to disconnect the cables. Be careful not to damage them.

Make sure the suction cup is securely attached to the front panel.

While holding iPhone with one hand, pull the suction cup lightly, separating the edge of the front bezel with the Home button from the body.

Using a plastic tool, begin to gently separate the front panel from the case, which you pull with the suction cup.

Take your time and gently pull on the front panel. IPhone 5s module is more durable than most devices.

Do not try to completely remove the front bezel from the case as it is connected by multiple ribbon cables to the top of the phone.

Pull the plastic knob to detach the suction cup from the screen.

Open the phone to reveal the metal bracket covering the Home button cable.

Do not open the phone too wide, you risk damaging the HOME button cable or its socket. Always keep the cable loose.

Only the native Home button retains Touch ID (fingerprint detection) functionality. If you rip the cable, installing a new button will restore only the normal functions of the Home button, but not the Touch ID settings.

Use a plastic tool to press down on the bracket and remove it.

Use the tip of a plastic tool to slide the home button cable connector up out of the socket.

Make sure you are separating the cable connector from the jack and not pulling the jack up. The socket has its own glued cable, and you have a chance to rip it off if you are not careful.

Once the connector is disconnected, pull the bottom of the module away from the case without detaching the top.

In the next few steps, hold the module at 90 degrees to the case until you completely detach the front panel.

Remove the following screws securing the front panel cable cover to the system board:

  • Two 1.7 mm Phillips screws;
  • One 1.2mm Phillips screw
  • One 1.3 mm Phillips screw.

The 1.3mm screw is not magnetized to the magnetic screwdriver. Take care not to lose it when you delete it. When reassembling, make sure this bolt is inserted into its native slot.

Remove the front panel cable cover from the motherboard.

Use a plastic tool to disconnect the front camera and sensor cable.

In all subsequent steps, when removing the cable from the socket, be careful and do not use extra force, otherwise you may damage fragile parts.

Holding the front panel, disconnect the digital sensor cable connector.

Finally, disconnect the connector of the display cable.

When assembling the phone, the display cable may pop out of the slot. This may result in a white mowing line or blank screen when the phone is switched on. If this happens, simply reconnect the cable and restart the power cycle. The best way to restart the power is to disconnect and reconnect the battery.

Remove the front panel from the back case.

IPhone 5s Screen Replacement Instructions. Front Camera & Touch Cable

Using a plastic tool, gently pry the speaker terminal cable upward to separate this part of the camera and sensor cable from the adhesive.

Slide the instrument only under the speaker contacts, there are sensors and microchips that can be damaged if pried in another place.

Use the corner of the plastic tool to lift the light sensor out of the slot on the module.

Use the flat end of the tool to carefully separate the portion of the front camera cable from the display.

Carefully remove the cable from the display protection plate to remove it from the screen.

Be careful not to damage the digital sensor cable when removing the front camera and sensor cable.

How to change the display on iPhone 5s

Remove the two 3.9-mm star screws near the Lightning connector.

Attach a suction cup over the Home button. Be sure to make sure the suction cup is securely attached.

Important! The front panel of iPhone 5s is secured with clips. You need to loosen the clips without damaging the cables connecting the front and back of the device. Therefore, it is important to proceed with the utmost care.

Pull the suction cup up while holding the bottom of the iPhone. The goal is to slightly separate the bottom of the front panel from the case. Gently pry the edges with a plastic tool to detach the back from the front. Important! On iPhone 5s, the front panel is attached very tightly to the back, much stronger than most other smartphones.

Important! Do not try to completely detach the front panel from the back of the case at this stage. Otherwise, you may break the plumes.

Lift the front of the case so that it becomes possible to disconnect the ribbon cable leading to the Home button. Important! The train should not be pulled too tight. If you tear it, the Touch ID fingerprint scanner will stop working, and only Apple Authorized Service Centers will be able to return it to working condition.

Remove the bracket from the connector using tweezers.

Disconnect the ribbon cable using tweezers. Important! When detaching, you must be very careful and detach the ribbon cable, and not the entire connector. The same applies to all the following steps in which it is required to detach one or another loop.

Open the iPhone 5s to about a 90º angle and lean the front against something. An excellent option would be the box from the iPhone. For the best fit, the box and smartphone can be secured with an elastic band.

Remove the two 1.6mm Phillips screws holding the metal plate that secures the battery connector to the motherboard.

Pull out the plate using tweezers.

Use tweezers or a dielectric spatula to remove the battery cable from the socket on the motherboard.

Unscrew the screws:

  • One 1.7 mm Phillips screw.
  • One 1.2mm Phillips screw.
  • One 1.3 mm Phillips screw.
  • Another 1.7mm Phillips screw.

Note that the last 1.7mm screw is not magnetized to the magnetic screwdriver, you should be careful with it.

Important! When assembling your smartphone, be sure to reinstall the screws only in place. Using the wrong screws, such as 1.3mm instead of 1.7mm, may cause permanent damage to the motherboard.

Detach the front camera and sensor ribbon cable.

Holding the bezel, disconnect the display cable.

Disconnect the touch display connector.

The front panel is completely detached from the back! Putting the back aside.

Remove the Phillips screw that secures the Home button ribbon cable.

Use a plastic tool or tweezers to move the ribbon cable aside.

Remove the two 1.4mm screws that secure the metal plate above the Home button.

Disconnect the Home button ribbon cable from the front panel. Important! At this stage, the button itself cannot be removed, it is still attached to the front panel.

Gently press the upper left side of the back of the Home button to separate it slightly from the chassis. Important! Do not press hard or under any circumstances separate the button completely. You only need to free the corner.

Gently pry the Home button from the back using a dielectric spudger.

How to take a photo in full iPhone screen during a call

Quite often, iPhone owners wonder why the caller’s photo is displayed in a small size, if recently the photo was on the entire display. Everything is extremely simple. If you assign a photo directly to a contact on the iPhone and do not sync it with Google or a similar service, then the caller’s image will be expanded to the entire display.

Diagnostics is FREE. 7 (812) 953-94-11, 7 (921) 984-75-12 (Kamennoostrovsky prospect, 42, Petrogradskaya metro station)

If the synchronization of the contact with Google is used, then immediately upon entering the server of the search engine, the image is reduced. This is due to the fact that the Google service automatically reduces the standard resolution image for the iPhone display, since it does not provide for saving contact photos.

In connection with the emergence of the new operating system iOS 5, Apple has provided its client with a free iCloud service. This allowed many to opt out of syncing their contacts with Google. Thus, using the new service, it became possible to save your contacts in your cloud, which in turn supports the screen resolution of any iPhone.

Therefore, by syncing your contacts with iCloud, the photos will not be automatically reduced and when the subscriber calls, you can see them in full size on your iPhone screen. Do not forget that in order for the contact images to be visible on the entire display, their resolution must be at least 960×640 pixels.

Taking a screenshot.

Some iPhone owners use special applications for this, and, perhaps, are not aware of the existence of a simpler and more affordable method, which is provided by the manufacturer itself.

First, select the program you want to take a screenshot of. When you have made your choice, you have to do two simple manipulations. Press the iPhohe Lock button with one finger and press the Home button with the other. Everything! IPhone screenshot ready.

We save and send.

The screenshot has been taken, now we need to open it and check if it turned out what you intended when creating the screenshot. Open the “Photos” application on your phone and go to the “Camera Roll” section, this is where your screenshot will be located.

In order to send it, for example, by e-mail, click on the taken picture, and “tap” on the “Actions” icon. Clicking to open a list of available actions with a screenshot.

If you would like to send a screenshot of the screen by email, click Send by Email. Enter your message, subject line, and recipient address. Click Submit. If the image you are sending is too large, your iPhone will ask if you want to reduce the image you are sending.

If you decide to send the screenshot without changes, click “Actual”, and if you select “Medium” or “Small”, then a thumbnail image will be sent accordingly. After clicking the Send button, your iPhone will send an email and return to the original photo.

You can save photos to your computer. By the way, it is useful to do this periodically in order to free up the phone memory. To do this, you will need a computer or laptop, as well as the USB cable supplied with the factory delivery of the phone.

Use a cable to connect your iPhone to your computer or laptop. After a few seconds, the computer will recognize your phone as a digital camera, and the AutoPlay window will appear on the monitor. The waiting time depends on the performance of your computer. In this window, select “Open device to view files”.

Select “Internal Storage”, then “DCIM” and then “File folder”. In one of the folders there will be a photo, in another video. Now you can copy the pictures of your choice in the usual way as you are used to doing it on a computer. After copying is complete, you can disconnect the cable.

What to do if iPhone does not turn on the screen during a call

It is worth examining how the iPhone display behaves during a call. Especially in the event that a film or glass is stuck on the display.

Occasionally, the screen may not turn off when you bring your iPhone closer to your ear while on an active call. Or vice versa, do not turn back when moving away from the head until the end of the conversation.

There may be several reasons for this, so we will analyze each separately.

Software problems

The first step is to eliminate the possibility of software glitches and errors. This can be done at home, while you will save the time spent by the gadget in the service center, if it turns out that the cause of the malfunction is the breakdown of components.

First, make sure not to use test versions of iOS and developer firmware.

We have already described in detail how to roll back to the stable version of iOS and disable the ability to download beta releases of the system.

Restart your device and try to track down the problem.

Sometimes these glitches disappear after the gadget is restarted or Hard Reset. Read more about how to do this here.

Remove applications that are embedded in standard programs.

Sometimes, all kinds of extensions for the Phone (caller ID and filters for calls), Messages (add-ons for iMessage) or third-party keyboards from the App Store can lead to such failures.

Remove such programs while checking the smartphone.

Disable two important system settings. The incorrect response of the sensor can be affected by the iOS chips “Raise to activate” (Settings. Screen and brightness) and “Swipe to open” (Settings. Accessibility. Home button) on iPhone models without Face ID.

Turn both off and check for a glitch.

Restore the firmware on the device.

The last way to check if the software is working is to reset the device and restore the factory firmware. This way you can get rid of jailbreak-related glitches or system crashes due to regular over-the-air updates.

You can try a factory reset first, and then iOS restore. Detailed instructions are attached.

Accessory problems

If all manipulations with the software did not give any result and the glitch appears with the same frequency, you should proceed to checking the accessories used.

Get rid of covers and cases.

First on the list of unsuccessful accessories might be the iPhone case. This is especially true for accessories that cover the screen or the top of the gadget from the front side.

The case can interfere with the correct operation of the sensors. This will happen both due to the banal closure of the sensors, and due to the presence of magnets in the case design.

Do not use removable accessories.

Removable accessories such as attachment lenses for a camera, aqua box or a tripod with a powerful mount can lead to problems with triggering sensors on the top of the smartphone.

For the duration of testing, discard such accessories.

Remove glass or protective film.

As much as you would like to remove the protective coating from the front panel, but in any case it will be removed when the gadget is checked in the service center.

Perhaps it is poor-quality protection that interferes with the correct operation of the proximity sensor.

Iron problems

If all the described procedures do not give any effect, then the problems are with the iPhone components.

The device was damaged by being dropped.

Glitches and crashes may not start immediately after the fall, but after a few days or even months.

The gadget does not work after a poor-quality repair.

If the device was in the hands of the craftsmen from the basement SC, it could well damage something or connect it in the wrong way. The cable could have been improperly laid, which was frayed during operation, the module could have been completely forgotten to fix and over time it moved out and stopped falling into the corresponding hole.

If the screen was changed in the iPhone, then the matter may be in a poor-quality unit with sensors.

Smartphone didn’t survive swimming in water.

The presence of moisture-proof does not guarantee that after the next hit of liquid on the case, it will not be inside.

So even after a long time after getting wet, any components of the iPhone may fail.

In any case, there is only one way out. a trip to the service center.
