IPhone system services what to disable

Fitness Tracking

If you are not keeping track of steps taken or calories burned and you are not using your iPhone as a device for monitoring physical activity at all, turn off the Fitness tracking option located along the way: Settings → Privacy → Movement and fitness.

iphone, system, services, disable

Reducing movement (parallax effect)

You’ve probably noticed the presence of a three-dimensional effect on the iOS home screen, in which application icons seem to float against the background of the wallpaper. This is called the parallax effect.

If the lack of proprietary iOS visual effects is not critical for you, turn on the Reduce movement along the path Settings → Accessibility → Motion.

This action will reduce the load on the processor and therefore extend the battery life of the iPhone.

Raising to activate

A feature that turns the iPhone screen on whenever you pick it up. This will work even if you just took the smartphone off the table to put it in your Disabled along the way: Settings → Display and brightness → Raise to activate.

Handoff

As a reminder, this feature allows you to start using the application on one Apple device and continue on another. For example, open a video on YouTube. on the iPhone and return to what you already started on the iPad or Mac and vice versa.

This feature can only be very useful if you have multiple Apple devices. If you only have an iPhone from apples, then feel free to disable Handoff along the way: Settings → General → AirPlay and Handoff.

Prevent apps from pestering you

Apps and games on iPhone and iPad quite often send messages to users asking them to rate them in the App Store. Not long ago, Apple responded to numerous customer complaints and severely limited the number of possible notifications from any particular application. Despite this, they are all the same annoying, and if there are dozens of different applications on the user’s device, then they are completely annoying, since there are a lot of them.

iPhone settings that all users need to turn off right now

IPhone has unnecessary features. it’s time to disable.

There are dozens of different features active on millions of iPhones around the world that users don’t even know about. Many of these features are useful and just wait until the iPhone owner sees them. However, there are also “pest functions” that practically no one needs when turned on. In this article, we talked about four such iPhone features.

Prevent iPhone from sending data to Apple

To improve iOS, Apple continually collects data from users’ iPhones and iPads. And users would be happy to share such data, if not for the situation with the autonomy of iOS, which, despite all the efforts of developers and complaints from Apple customers, is still far from being in the best condition. In this regard, the question is. why share any data with Apple, especially to the detriment of the autonomy of the iPhone or iPad?

You can turn off the function that sends various data for analysis to Apple in the menu “Settings” → “Privacy” → “Analysis”, where you need to uncheck the item “Share iPhone Analysis”.

Don’t let the App Store decide for you

After a major update to the App Store in 2017, videos began to play automatically on the app pages. And all would be fine, but many videos, in particular trailers for games, start very abruptly and loudly, which few people find pleasant. However, the very fact that the video on the application pages is automatically played without the user’s request also pleases not everyone.

Turning off automatic video playback on app pages in the App Store is easy. Go to Settings → iTunes & App Store → Autoplay. video ”and check the box next to“ Off ”. After that, videos from the App Store will not disturb you.

Stop improving useless “Maps

Only a few people use the Apple Maps application in the CIS countries. And this is not surprising. Apple’s map service is being improved and refined, mainly with a focus on the United States, China and some European countries. For us, Apple’s “Maps” are a “broken” version of services from Google or Yandex.

In its default state, the iPhone enhances these same “Maps” by sending various information useful for developers to the Apple camp. You can disable the sending of this data, at the same time prohibiting the smartphone from spending valuable resources on such tasks in the menu “Settings” → “Privacy” → “Location services” → “System services”, where you need to disable the switches “iPhone analysis”, “Routing and traffic “,” Popular Nearby “and” Map Upgrade “.

Do I need to worry about tracking at all?

Apple does not collect data about the movement of iPhone users for the purpose of tracking. Thanks to the information received, the company improves its services, mainly Maps. Apple has repeatedly stated that the data it collects is stored and transmitted in a highly encrypted format. It is impossible to intercept potentially valuable information and use it.

However, many iPhone users choose not to help Apple improve their services. The main reason is not even fear for your personal information. Many iPhone owners are concerned that their smartphones are wasting resources on collecting data and then transferring it. Indeed, the features listed below negatively impact iPhone battery life.

features you need to disable to prevent iPhone from tracking you

It will also help increase the battery life of your iPhone.!

Apple tracks the location of iPhone owners to improve its services. Don’t want your iPhone to waste valuable battery power transferring your location data? Then turn off the five functions that we talked about in this manual.

What features need to be disabled?

Go to “Settings” → “Privacy” → “Location Services” and at the very bottom of the page, select the “System Services” section. On the page that opens, you need to disable four functions: iPhone Analysis, Routing and Traffic, Popular Nearby, Map Enhancement.

Next, select the “Significant Places” section. To enter it, iOS will ask you to enter a password or verify your identity using Touch ID or Face ID. It is in this section that the iPhone collects detailed information about which significant places you have visited. In addition, all frequently visited places are collected here. Each place can be selected and familiarized with the details of your stay there.

To disable this function, just move the switch “Significant places” in the inactive position.

Done! Now your iPhone does not follow you, and at the same time does not waste time and resources on tasks you do not need.

AirDrop

AirDrop is a technology for wirelessly sharing files between nearby Apple devices. In connection search mode, this function eats up a very solid percentage of the charge. We turn it on strictly as needed, and turn it off in the control center.

Unnecessary notifications

Apps that send a push waste precious battery power, firstly on the backlight, and secondly on vibration. They are also annoying and annoying. You can disable push notifications in the settings, in the Notification Center section.

Background mobile internet connection

Applications, even in the background, can download data from the Internet, for example, to update statistics. The more such background connections a device has, the shorter its battery life. Limit the list of applications that have access to the mobile Internet in the settings Cellular communications Cellular data for software.

iOS features that you can disable and keep your iPhone running longer

Already in trouble because your iPhone didn’t run out on time? Just for you, the 7 most power-hungry and least-requested iOS features that you can turn off to stay connected longer.

iOS 9 promises to dramatically optimize the power consumption of iPhones and iPads. What’s new Apple is preparing in terms of energy savings?

  • Low power consumption mode. It disables some of the device’s features, including automatic email checking and animation effects. By default, it turns on when the battery level reaches 20% or 10%. Manually can be activated in the settings.
  • Battery usage statistics. It will help to calculate and neutralize an energy-intensive enemy. In the Battery settings section, iOS 9 will show you a list of all apps with the percentage and duration of battery usage. To save resources, you can simply close all unnecessary applications from this list.

For those who do not want to wait for the release of a new version of iOS or put a beta, just to extend the battery life of the device, 7 functions that can be disabled to save battery now.

Fitness tracker

The fitness tracker for Apple mobile devices collects data on user activity every day, analyzes them and builds a personal profile. It also consumes a charge, because it uses the battery resources through the built-in M8 chip. If you are not a staunch supporter of an active lifestyle or use other gadgets, turn off the fitness tracker without regret: Settings Privacy Movement and fitness.

Continuity Handoff

With iCloud sync, Handoff allows you to start writing an email on iPhone, continue it on a Mac from the same place, or, for example, switch from browsing a website on a Mac to working on an iPad. If only one device is tied to your iCloud account or you do not feel the need for such a convenient, but energy-intensive synchronization, feel free to disable it in the Settings menu General Handoff and suggested software.

ICloud sync

Apple with full responsibility and enviable regularity syncs data between devices connected to the same iCloud account. By limiting the list of data and applications, you can reduce the amount of data transferred over the network and conserve valuable battery life. Disable syncing in the iCloud Settings menu.

How to turn off geolocation on iPhone

You can turn off geolocation in the settings

Despite the fact that the majority of users, in general, were satisfied with Apple’s answer, the company still decided that it was absolutely useless to spoil its reputation in this way and built a special switch in iOS 13.3.1 that allows you to disable tracking. It appeared in the second beta version of the update, which was released a week earlier. To find it, you need to go to “Settings”. “Privacy”. “Geolocation Services”. “System Services”. There you need to disable the Networking Wireless function, after which the automatic activation of geolocation services will stop.

It’s actually correct that Apple decided to add a switch to iOS. In the end, for most users, the appearance of the location icon in the status bar can be unpleasant news and even a reason to contact a service center. After all, if geolocation services are disabled, and the smartphone still continues to collect data on movements, this is at least strange and, most likely, could be of interest to pseudo-human rights activists trying to make money on litigation involving large corporations.

iOS 13.3.1 allows you to completely disable geolocation on new iPhones

Apple has always strongly opposed surveillance of users and not only tried to avoid it in every possible way, but also criticized those who allowed themselves something like that, regardless of the method. Thus, Cupertino made it clear that you can remain successful even if you do not collect confidential information from your clients and sell it to the outside. However, from time to time, Apple still received criticism from those who. perhaps not without reason. suspected it of violating their own principles, and then the company had to respond to this, justifying itself and the data collection methods used.

Ultra Wideband could have activated location services on its own, but users didn’t like it

At the end of last year, iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max users complained that their smartphones themselves activate geolocation tools by collecting information about their location. This happened even if the corresponding services were disabled, which for many was, if not a shock, then at least an unpleasant surprise. Cupertino reacted to these complaints rather quickly, explaining that the U1 chip was to blame. It can turn on geolocation services to determine coordinates, to understand where it is and, depending on this, activate Ultra Wideband technology or block it, because in some countries its use is prohibited.

Ultra Wideband. spatial orientation technology only available on iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max. The U1 chip is responsible for its work. Thanks to it, smartphones can pinpoint the location of other Ultra Wideband compatible devices with high accuracy. This technology can be used to search for other iPhones while AirDrop, unlock cars, and more.

Why Ulta Wideband does not work in Russia

On the other hand, it is not very clear how the iPhone will determine its location if geolocation services are disabled, because it needs to either support the Ultra Wideband technology or block it. But in some countries of the world, for example, in Russia, it is prohibited. The reason for the restrictions on the use of the development in our country stems from the frequencies at which it operates. The fact is that the 6 GHz band today is considered strategically important and belongs to the Ministry of Defense, while remaining inaccessible for use by civilians.

How to turn off ad tracking on iPhone

Here’s how to turn off ad tracking on iPhone. It will be useful if you are tired of the personalized ads overheard in your correspondence and social networks.

I don’t know about you, but I’m already no longer surprised by the fact that after a one-time mention of “Nike sneakers” in personal Instagram correspondence, the entire feed simply begins to swarm with ads about sports equipment. It would seem. iPhone, privacy of user data above all else and all that. But no, even the safest smartphone cannot guarantee you 100% protection from annoying personalized ads and leakage of your preferences to marketing agencies.

But this tracking can be blocked on your iPhone. And I will tell you how to do it. By the way, if you are faced with the appearance of advertising in the iPhone calendar. we have instructions on how to get rid of it.

How to check iPhone protection against personalized ads

  • By going to the “Add-ons” → “Site data” tab, you can clear the data of those sites that have already used them.

Disable advertising by location

Geolocation services are responsible for this type of advertising, which you can also disable selectively or in certain applications separately.

This can be done as follows:

  • Go to “Settings” → “Privacy”.
  • Then open “Location Services”.
  • Now you can view the list of applications that use geolocation and deny access to the location. You can also turn off all location services, but applications such as Google Maps or Apple Maps may not function properly.

In addition, in the “Geolocation Services” → “System Services” tab, you can enable the display of the “Geolocation Status Icon”. It will demonstrate when your location is activated.

Turn off background app refresh

During background app updates, we receive notifications from social networks. But at the same time, some programs can access our data. If you are afraid for your information, you can turn off background application refresh.

  • Go to “Settings” → “General”.
  • Then open the “Content Update” tab.
  • This entire list of applications is those programs that are updated in the background. You can turn off the update in front of any of the programs.
  • You can also configure when content updates are available (Wi-Fi, Cellular and Wi-Fi) or turn it off by default.

At the same time, keep in mind that if you select a social network like or Instagram, there may be problems with receiving notifications. And Google Photos won’t automatically back up your camera roll.

Services that can be disabled

Below is a list of Windows 10 services that you can disable, provided that the functions they provide are not used by you. Also, for individual services, I have provided additional notes that can help you decide on the advisability of turning off a particular service.

If you are not a stranger to English, then perhaps the most complete information about Windows 10 services in different editions, their default startup parameters and safe values, you can find at blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-Windows- 10-service-configurations /.

Windows 10 Easy Service Optimizer shutdown software

And now about the free program for optimizing the startup parameters of Windows 10 services. Easy Service Optimizer, which allows you to easily disable unused OS services in three pre-installed scenarios: Safe, Optimal and Extreme. Attention: I highly recommend creating a restore point before using the program.

I can’t vouch, but perhaps using such a program for a novice user will be a safer option than manually disabling services (and even better for a beginner not to touch anything in the service settings), since it makes returning to the original settings easier.

The Easy Service Optimizer interface is in Russian (if it has not turned on automatically, go to Options. Languages) and the program does not require installation. After starting, you will see a list of services, their current state and startup parameters.

At the bottom there are four buttons that allow you to enable the default state of services, a safe option for disabling services, optimal and extreme. The planned changes are immediately displayed in the window, and by clicking the upper left icon (or choosing the “File” menu. “Apply settings”), the parameters are applied.

By double-clicking on any of the services, you can see its name, startup type and safe startup values that will be applied by the program when choosing its various settings. Among other things, through the context menu by right-clicking on any service, you can delete it (I do not recommend it).

What services to disable in Windows 10

The question of disabling Windows 10 services and for which of them you can safely change the startup type are usually interested in in order to improve system performance. While this may indeed slightly speed up the performance of your computer or laptop, I do not recommend disabling services for those users who do not know how to independently solve the problems that could theoretically arise after this. Actually, I generally do not recommend disabling Windows 10 system services.

Below is a list of services that can be disabled in Windows 10, information on how to do this, as well as some explanations for individual points. Again, do this only if you know what you are doing. If in this way you just want to remove the “brakes” that are already in the system, then disabling services most likely will not work, it is better to pay attention to what is described in the instructions How to speed up Windows 10, as well as to install the official drivers for your hardware.

The first two sections of the guide describe how to manually disable Windows 10 services, and also contain a list of those that are safe to disable in most cases. The third section is about a free program that can automatically disable “unnecessary” services, as well as return all settings to their default values if something goes wrong. And at the end of the video there is an instruction that shows everything that is described above.

How to disable services in Windows 10

Let’s start by looking at exactly how services are disabled. This can be done in several ways, of which the recommended one is to enter “Services” by pressing WinR on the keyboard and typing services.msc or through the “Administration”. “Services” control panel item (the second way is to enter msconfig on the “Services” tab).

As a result, a window is launched with a list of Windows 10 services, their status and startup type. When you double click on any of them, you can stop or start the service, as well as change the startup type.

Startup types are: Automatic (and deferred option). starting the service when you log on to Windows 10, manually. starting the service at the moment when it was required by the OS or any program, disabled. the service cannot be started.

In addition, you can disable services using the command line (from the Administrator) using the sc config command “Service_name” start = disabled where “Service_name” is the system name used by Windows 10, seen in the top paragraph when viewing information about any of the services on double click).

8 Unnecessary iPhone Settings You Need To Turn OFF NOW

In addition, I note that the service settings affect all Windows 10 users. The default settings themselves are located in the registry branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ services \. you can pre-export this section using the registry editor to be able to quickly restore the values by default. Better yet, create a Windows 10 restore point first, in which case you can also use it from Safe Mode.

And one more note: you can not only disable some of the services, but also remove them by removing the Windows 10 components you do not need. You can do this through the control panel (you can enter it through the right click on start). programs and components. enable or disable Windows components.

Made a simple script, disables all services associated with updating Windows 10, and makes edits to the registry.

I checked it on different assemblies, there will be no more updates. The update center will also be unavailable.

And where is the note that you need Safe Mode? Such rubbish is cut out at the roots only in a safe.

Thanks for your help, great site. In fact, for a laptop, it is important to turn off everything unnecessary. it significantly prolongs the life of the laptop. But disabling services is more relevant for security reasons, rather than performance. For example, I was hooked once on a remote computer. And all that was needed was to turn off the remote registry and remote desktops service. I would like to know which services are potentially dangerous for spyware. W as a spy is not so scary. On the contrary, it looks at what third-party programs are doing and includes it in its functionality. If earlier it was very difficult to delete, for example, Mixed Portal, now. yes, please. And with spies it is more difficult. Even paid antiviruses do this poorly. Well, except that the corpor version. What services are the most dangerous for spyware penetration?

Your script doesn’t work on Win 10 Home. “Access denied”.

What kind of script are we talking about? If it is on the command line, then some services in 10 cannot be disabled. And to disable the rest, be sure to run the command line on behalf of the administrator.

How can it be that I don’t have Superfetch on 1909

In Win 10 (1706), I disabled the IPsec Key Modules for Internet Key Exchange and Authenticated IP (IKEEXT) service without negative consequences. In Win 10 (1809) it turned off both in services and in the registry, after restarting it spontaneously returns to the “Automatic” position. Has anyone managed to disable this service?

I think that these services are needed when you use secure SSL / HTTPS protocols on the Internet, so they start automatically

In pursuit of speed, you can disable the Sysmain service, reduce the load on the hard disk and percent, but increase the consumption of RAM.

Was it really impossible to sort the services by alphabetical name?

Many services are linked to each other. if you disable one you must disable the other. A smarter approach is to have multiple computer profiles that enable or disable a whole group of services at once. Maybe there are such ready-made programs? For example, a computer that works at home and does not have any local network (except for a dedicated Internet connection) does not need a number of services such as file sharing and network printing. But if you bring the computer to the office and connect via WI-FI to the LAN, they may be needed. And here, in order not to remember by heart what services are needed, a computer profile for a certain type of use (office network / LAN / home) will come to the rescue

Hi guys! Thank you for your professional, detailed, and very helpful coverage of many topics! The video on this page does not match the topic! Here is the one youtu.be/fdUcIq759-c Once again, THANKS! ))))

Well, in general, it is written in the command line like this, and not like yours sc config Service_name start = with a space after the “=” sign and such rules are described in the command line itself

AirDrop and Handoff

The first feature allows you to exchange files, and the second allows you to start action on one device and continue on the second.

AirDrop is useful, but if you use it very rarely or never at all, then turn it off.

Handoff doesn’t make sense if you only have an iPhone. Otherwise, if you have an iPad or MacBook, then try what it is and if you don’t like it, then turn it off.

True tone

The feature is quite good and adapts the white color of your screen depending on the lighting.

If you do not like it or you just want to get a longer device operation, then turn it off.

Light sensors constantly monitor the lighting and therefore it is worth turning it off. You can find this item in the control center or just go to Settings. Screen and brightness. True Tone.

I know very few people who use Siri on their iPhones. It so happened that the function is interesting to a very small circle of people.

By default, your phone always waits for you to say “Hey Siri”, the microphone works in the background.

Therefore, open Settings. Siri and Search. turn off the toggle switch Listen “Hey Siri”.
Also, it analyzes your applications in order to better interact with you later.

All in the same place, Siri and Search, scroll down and turn off the Analyze this application item in all programs that you are not interested in at all.

It is understandable that all this does not consume much energy. But, in the aggregate, we will get a good increase in autonomy.

App Store

Open Settings. App Store and turn off Applications, Software Update, Automatic Downloads.

Now, you will need to update the programs yourself. I usually do this at the end of the day, when I put the device on charge (App Store. your logo in the upper right corner. Update all).

Below, we also disable the Autoplay video item. Wi-Fi only or Off. In the App Store, you will now launch video previews yourself.

iOS 14: iPhone battery drains quickly

Many iPhone owners have updated to iOS 14 and have started to complain that their battery is starting to run out very quickly.

If you think that the new OS is eating up your battery and you do not know what to do with it, then today’s become is just created for you.

Dark mode

One of the YouTube bloggers did a very cool test, where he proved that iPhone with dark mode turned on uses less battery.

True, but only works on OLED phones (iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone 11 Pro and future models).

This is explained by the fact that OLED has a backlight for each pixel and to create black, it simply turns off the necessary ones.

In the LCD, everything is a little different and there is a general backlight for the entire screen, so this option will not work here. The dark theme on the same iPhone 8 is just a visual feature.

Geolocation services

You’ve probably noticed that the icon for using geolocation lights up more and more often and this is a good battery consumption.

You do not need to turn it off completely, but you still have to spend a little time setting up.

11 iOS 14 Settings You Need To Turn Off Now

Open Settings. Privacy. Geolocation Services and then follow these instructions:

  • here you have to dig into the settings for each of the applications. If you understand that the program does not need it at all, then we choose never. But more often than not, the best option is “When using the application”.
  • special attention should be paid to System Services. Here we just copy everything from the screenshots.

I will not explain why I disabled this or that item. I’ll just say that this will reduce the use of geo-location and increase the operating time of the device and will not affect the comfort of using the device.

Content update

If you go to General. Content Updates, you will find a list of applications that update information in the background.

We go through the list and turn off all unnecessary. This will remove another reason that drains the battery.

I want to note that when you turn on the power saving mode at 20 percent, then this item is turned off completely.

Notifications

In order for you to receive notifications, the application needs to go to the Internet and see if there is something new there.

Therefore, go to Settings. Notifications and go through the list of programs. Disable all items from which you do not want to see notifications.

Location services on the iPhone. Or how to make your smartphone last longer!

Only a rare user sets up geolocation services on their iPhone. But in vain! Today we will analyze each of these settings in detail and find out which service is responsible for what, as well as what can and even need to be disabled in order to improve smartphone performance.

Searching for a GPS signal consumes the smartphone’s battery, and if the satellites are in poor visibility, then the consumption can increase significantly. Also, the GPS receiver itself does not need any data, it is requested by a specific program or service. And if she asks for them, then she is going to do something with this data. and this is an additional load on the processor, which leads to even more battery consumption.

And all this can happen (and does!) Even while your iPhone is quietly lying on the table or in your Most importantly, most geolocation services are almost useless.!

In iOS 12, you can always see exactly when the iPhone is trying to get a GPS signal. Many of you have noticed a small arrow in the status bar to the right of the clock:

If this arrow is present and filled with white (as in the screenshot above), it means that the iPhone is right now trying to determine its coordinates, actively using GPS. If the arrow is not filled with color and only its outlines are visible, it means that a specific service or program can access GPS under certain circumstances (for example, you have set up a reminder that should work when you leave home, that is, when you change your current location).

So what can you disable and how will it affect the performance of your iPhone? Let’s open the Settings. Confidentiality. Geolocation services and at the very end of the list go to the System Services menu:

If, after disabling all unnecessary geolocation services, you still see an arrow in the status bar, symbolizing the GPS search, most likely the matter is in widgets (the screen to the left of the desktop with icons).

The main consumer of GPS in this case is the weather widget, since every time the screen is turned on, the iPhone asks for a location in order to know in which city to show the weather. By removing the widget, the geolocation icon will disappear from the screen:

As mentioned earlier, geolocation services are quite power hungry and dramatically reduce battery life. Therefore, if in doubt whether you need a specific service or not, it is better to disable it.
