iPhone 11 is bigger than iPhone 11 pro

Performance

Geekbench naturally shows good gains. We also remember about the more advanced neuromodule in the A14 Bionic.

over, the test completed significantly faster on the iPhone 12, like the next test. Metal.

  • iPhone 12. 9349 points
  • iPhone 11. 7471 points

But does the iPhone 12 feel faster and smoother than last year’s flagship? Let’s check!

Let’s remember the specifications. Is anything different besides the processor? Not really. Otherwise, all exactly DDR5 was given only to new “firmware”. both there and there 4 gigabytes of RAM. The iPhone 11 Pro even has LPDDR4X, while the iPhone 12 has LPDDR4. Is that different options for the internal iPhone 12. a maximum of 256 GB, and the iPhone 11 Pro. 512 GB.

Oh, I love these Apple names. Lightning and Thunder vs. Firestorm and Icestorm.

  • Apple A13 Bionic (7 nm)
  • Hexa-core (2 × 2.65 GHz Lightning 4 × 1.8 GHz Thunder)
  • RAM 4 GB LPDDR4X
  • 64GB, 256GB, 512GB
  • Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, VoLTE, NFC
  • Apple A14 Bionic (5 nm)
  • Hexa-core (2 × 3.1 GHz Firestorm 4 × 1.8 GHz Icestorm)
  • RAM 4 GB LPDDR4
  • 64GB, 128GB, 256GB
  • Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, VoLTE, NFC

Next, we tried launching applications for a while. A variety of programs were specially selected, and before that I unloaded everything from the memory of smartphones.

As expected, the iPhone 12 did faster. opened everything in 1:21, but the iPhone 11 Pro was not far behind. 1:32.

But still, where is it smoother and faster? And nowhere! Moving from iPhone 11 Pro to iPhone 12, you do not feel any strong difference and increase in speed. both smartphones work equally fast, whether it will be so in a year or two is difficult to say, but now it is the same experience.

Of course, you can find a scenario in which the iPhone 12 will benefit from a more advanced neuromodule, processor and GPU power, but the difference will not be so noticeable in everyday use. If you test on games, even the most sophisticated ones, there will be no difference.

After half an hour of playing Call of Duty Mobile, the iPhone 11 Pro warmed up slightly. it hardly felt and did not interfere with further playing, the iPhone 12 was generally well done. It seems to me that my hands are warmer than this smart: after half an hour of the game, the heating is almost not felt. but there is still a difference.

iPhone 12 vs iPhone 11 Pro: Do I Need to Upgrade?

The iPhone 11 Pro is Apple’s flagship last year. It was my primary smartphone most of the time. And this is the new iPhone 12. It seems to be not a top-end, let’s say, a mid-range flagship, but already in 2020.

Which is better. last year’s top-end flagship Apple, which fell so badly in price, or is it still the freshest, but not the top-end iPhone 12. Two cameras versus three? What about screens and batteries and is it worth chasing 5 nanometers?

Screen

They are identical, but what is the difference? First, the size is 6.1 inches for the iPhone 12 versus 5.8 inches for the iPhone 11 Pro, but the resolution is also slightly higher on the iPhone 12: 2532 by 1170 versus 2436 by 1125 pixels, so the ppi is slightly higher: 460 versus 458, but the difference is so insignificant that the eye cannot see

iPhone 11 Pro — Обзор спустя 3 месяца использования!

  • 6.1 inch
  • Super Retina XDR matrix.
  • OLED with a contrast ratio of 2 million to 1. There is True Tone. Yes DCI P3. color gamut.
  • Brightness up to 625 cd / m² and peak (HDR) up to 1200 cd / m². HDR support.
  • Resolution. 2532 by 1170 pixels
  • Pixel density. 460 ppi
  • Ceramic Shield glass. 4 times less risk of damage if dropped.
  • 5.8 inch
  • Super Retina XDR Matrix.
  • OLED with a contrast ratio of 2 million to 1. There is True Tone. Yes DCI P3. color gamut.
  • Brightness up to 800 cd / m² and peak (HDR) up to 1200 cd / m². HDR support.
  • Resolution: 2436 by 1125 pixels,
  • Pixel density. 458 ppi.

But again, you need to pay attention to the working brightness: it is lower for the iPhone 12. 625 versus 800 nits. At the same time, we compared the two iPhones in the sun at maximum brightness and did not see much of a difference.

Чем отличается iPhone 11 от iPhone 11 Pro?

And of course, let’s not forget about the frames. in the iPhone 12 they are narrow. In general, they are less than 11 Pro and due to the chopped edges the screen seems to be more frameless.

And there, and there is a type of OLED Super Retina XDR matrix. You can watch HDR content both there and there. True HDR Dolby Vision can only be shot on iPhone 12.

Battery

This is what the iPhone 12 is criticized for. for its reduced lifespan. From personal experience, I did not notice the fall. It is worth considering that fresh iPhones out of the box always live longer, and the iPhone 11 Pro has a year and a battery life of 90%. As a result, now the test subjects’ batteries are almost equal, but the new iPhone 11 Pro “out of the box” has a capacity of 231 mAh more, let’s check!

  • iPhone 12. 2815 mAh
  • iPhone 11 Pro. 3046mAh. 10% = 2741mAh

It is worth saying that the iPhone 11 Pro supports 18W fast charging. At the same time, in the blissful past, the kit just goes fast charging and a Lightning-Type-C wire and even headphones. wow, we will say today!

iPhone 11 Pro vs iPhone 11. Which Should You choose?

Let me remind you that Lightning headphones separately cost 2,000 rubles, if you suddenly need a 20 W network adapter for another 2 thousand rubles, and 18 W is no longer officially sold, including because the iPhone 12 supports 20-watt charging, few people talk about it said.

We continued our baton with the Facetime battery test. In general, who will turn off first? Place your bets, but remember that I already have 90 percent battery life on the iPhone 11 Pro, so add 10 percent to the result. It turned out that the iPhone 11 Pro was the first to give up: it lived in a continuous call with full brightness over Wi-Fi for 4 hours and 5 minutes, and the iPhone 12 lasted another 15 minutes. Interestingly, this is at odds with my previous result. 4 hours 53 minutes. Perhaps this is due to the fact that during this time iOS updates arrived.

The result of the test of autonomy, taking into account the battery life:

  • iPhone 11 Pro. 4 hours 30 minutes
  • iPhone 12. 4 hours 20 minutes

In the same test, by the way, the iPhone 12 mini lasted 3 hours and 50 minutes. Not bad for a kid

Let’s compare the sound of the speakers. They are very similar in quality. And what about the volume?

By measurement, it turned out that after all, the iPhone 12 is a little louder: at the maximum it gave 102 dB versus 92 dB for the iPhone 11 Pro.

Cameras

  • 12 MP, f / 1.8, 26mm (wide), 1 / 2.55 ″, 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS
  • 12 MP, f / 2.0, 52mm (telephoto), 1 / 3.4 ″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 2x optical zoom
  • 12 MP, f / 2.4, 120˚, 13mm (ultrawide), 1 / 3.6 ″
  • Front camera 12 MP, f / 2.2, 23mm (wide), 1 / 3.6 ″
  • 12 MP, f / 1.6, 26mm (wide), 1.4µm, dual pixel PDAF, OIS
  • 12 MP, f / 2.4, 120˚, 13mm (ultrawide), 1 / 3.6 ″
  • Front camera 12 MP, f / 2.2, 23mm (wide), 1 / 3.6 ″

iPhone 11 Pro wins in number: in addition to wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle cameras, there is also 2x zoom, and even with optical image stabilization.

First we took some zoom photos. Accordingly, in the iPhone 12, for comparison, we zoomed in using digital: the difference is significant, but not in all scenarios. The advantage of the optical zoom is clearly visible in a photo with a person. Clearer face and details on the iPhone 11 Pro telephoto.

over, if we compare the picture with the close-up moss. here the pictures are identical, as in the example with the house. We looked at it for a long time and did not find any special differences.

In the frame with a tree, although you can see a clearer drawing of the forest in the background on the iPhone 11 Pro, in general, the difference is not so big and the tree in the foreground is both sharp and sharp.

In a slightly weaker light, the photo in the courtyard turned out better on the iPhone 11 Pro optics than on the iPhone 12 crop.

Conclusion: sometimes the digital zoom does a very good job. In some scenarios, the gain is achieved due to the optics, but remember that there is no separate button for zoom on the iPhone 12, and it is not always convenient to do this with a pinch gesture.

The main change affected the main camera. it would seem that it is small. only the optics have become faster. The wide-angle camera aperture in the iPhone 12 is f / 1.6 versus f / 1.8 in the iPhone 11 Pro. Does it really matter? Apple told us the new camera can capture 27% more light.

Here is a cat in poor light, shot without night mode on the main cameras of the iPhone: the difference is almost not felt. it is slightly better visible in the frame with the house and the sunset, the image on the iPhone 11 Pro is slightly faded and the noise level is higher, and there is a mess in the shadows, but this is a frame without the night mode. Slightly higher detail is noticeable on the fence plates of the iPhone 12 camera. But there is no dramatic difference. And again, you already know that the iPhone 12 has brought Night Mode, Smart HDR 3 and Deep Fusion to all cameras. finally. Like night time lapses.

But at the same time, they squeezed Apple ProRaw from the Pro-line and night portraits due to the lack of LiDAR. And of course, all of the above did not come to the past “proshki”. ah-ah-ah, Apple!

What did it give and is there a significant increase? As I already said, in comparison with the iPhone 11 and 12, there is an increase in the main camera. the ultra-wide has become more flexible with night mode, but, as before, it is weak compared to Android competitors.

I do not like the fixed Focus, but the soapiness of the picture is leveled a little due to the appearance of Deep Fusion here, the details have become a little more.

But it’s like I’m saying the same thing a second time. it’s so I don’t like the ultra-wide iPhone for photos, but for videos it’s a thrill. You can shoot very beautiful rides with your hands. over, both iPhones can shoot at 4K 60 fps and there is not even a difference here. Stabilization has not changed: let me remind you that the optical stub on the iPhone 11 Pro makes 1000 adjustments per second, as on the iPhone 12. But on the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, it has improved noticeably and makes 5000 adjustments per second.

But what is really important. they brought in a 10-bit video format. So that you understand. this is a very significant change: 60 times more colors. It seems to sound like dry numbers, but this is the claim for the ultimate best video in smartphones. And this will definitely not be delivered to the iPhone 11 pro. although they have already found a way to shoot Dolby Vision on it

The main camera on the iPhone 12 handles video better in low light: less noise, better detail. We chose conditions that were harsh enough to make the difference. Curious how the 12 Pro Max handles video at night!

Well, the portraits, let’s take a look at them. about the same, except that in poor light on the new camera they turn out a little better, but the difference is small. It becomes noticeable when light conditions deteriorate. but both smartphones cannot take night portraits, then the same Pixel 5 would have done them.

The front camera is now also with night mode and with all the goodies of post-processing. In good to medium light, there is an improvement in detail due to Deep Fusion. In poor light on iPhone 12. the front camera makes less noise, apparently a different algorithm.

Bottom line for cameras: optical zoom versus video gain. choose which one matters to whom?

Design and ergonomics

The iPhone 11 Pro has been with me for a long time. The hand is so accustomed to the size and shape that the smartphone lies like a glove. In addition, steel and frosted glass. everything here clearly screams premium.

On the other hand, fresh flat design, chopped edges, painted aluminum and glossy glass, but interesting colors and their choice, as well as a new sturdy Ceramic Shield coating on the front and yes. a larger screen. But in fact, the dimensions are slightly larger, and the weight, on the contrary, is 164 grams instead of 188 grams.

So in terms of ergonomics, although the iPhone 11 Pro lies better due to its streamlined shape, the iPhone 12 is lightweight and better centered. you can hold it in your hand without using your thumb.

Water protection, if it is very important for you, both devices are certified the same. IP68, but the iPhone 12 declares a dive to a depth of 6 meters for 30 minutes, iPhone 11 Pro. up to 4 meters for 30 minutes.

  • iPhone 12: 146.7 x 71.5 x 7.4mm, 162g
  • iPhone 11 Pro: 144 x 71.4 x 8.1mm, 188g

In general, the clothes are both ok, but if you use a smartphone in a case, the difference will be even more blurred. Pros of iPhone 11 Pro. premium materials, while iPhone 12 has Ceramic Shield, waterproof and fresh design.

Let’s summarize. The iPhone 12, in general, is obviously more advanced filling, here and modems are only from Qualcomm (X55). They are better than Intel’s solution, besides, there is 5G, without mmWave, only Sub6 GHz, but both are still irrelevant for Russia.

Returning to the main question, which iPhone to choose from these two, at an equal price? Unfortunately, there is no universal answer!

I will say this, if you want a fresh design and a bigger screen, as well as Dolby Vision in video, then the iPhone 12.

As for the secondary market, they will also fall in price in about the same way. If you take the next year, the biggest drop in the iPhone 11 Pro happened exactly in the first year, because Apple does not leave it in the current line and cannot affect the price. The price of the iPhone 12 is likely to drop by a hundred dollars in a year.

On my own I will say this, choosing from these two, I would take the iPhone 12. Why? In my opinion, the main thing is the screen. Although it is slightly larger, it is more convenient to do everything on it, including typing messages on the keyboard, but at the same time the iPhone itself is compact and lightweight. The second and third points. video and MagSafe. these goodies outweigh the third zoom camera.

IPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro camera

Aside from the display, the camera is one of the biggest differences between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.

The iPhone 11 has a dual 12-megapixel camera system with wide and ultra-wide lenses. It also supports a new Night Mode for high-quality low-light shots, auto adjust, optical image stabilization, 2x optical zoom, brighter flash, six-effect portrait mode, and Smart HDR.

In comparison, the main difference between the iPhone 11 Pro’s camera is its third telephoto lens. You also get dual optical image stabilization, 2x optical zoom, and 10x digital zoom. The main advantage of a telephoto lens is that it allows you to magnify distant objects without losing image clarity. For example, when photographing wildlife from afar or photographing at a sporting event.

The front camera of the new iPhones is the same. 12 megapixels versus 7 megapixels for the iPhone XR, and it also supports 4K video (the predecessor can record maximum in Full HD). There are also various features like “slow-motion” (slow-motion selfies), which are available for both the regular iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

How the iPhone 11 differs from the iPhone 11 Pro

We have already compared the iPhone XR and iPhone 11, it is time now to push the heads of the representatives of the new generation of iPhone. For clarity, we have compiled a small table using official data from Apple. The main differences are highlighted in red.

IPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro vs iPhone 11 Pro Max

If you are interested in learning more (and judging by what they say in our Telegram chat, this is how it is), now we will tell you.

How the iPhone 11 differs from the iPhone 11 Pro

The newest smartphones from Apple, iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, will start selling in Russia on September 20. Despite the fact that they look very similar, smartphones at the same time are very different: for example, the iPhone 11 is made in an aluminum case, and its front and back are made of glass, while the iPhone 11 has replaced the aluminum frame with stainless steel and made the back matt surface. And this is not the only difference.

New iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max

Apple claims to have made “the toughest glass in a smartphone” for all three iPhones in 2019, and promises that it will remain intact if you drop it or otherwise accidentally damage your iPhone.

IPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro performance

Both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro (like the iPhone 11 Pro Max) are powered by Apple’s Bionic A13 chip, which the company claims is the fastest processor in a smartphone.

The A13 Bionic has four high-performance cores that are 20 percent faster and use 40 percent less power than the A12 Bionic, and two more cores that are 20 percent faster and 30 percent more efficient. The amount of RAM is still unknown, but there are assumptions.

IPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro connectivity

Both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro include 802.11ax Wi-Fi and Gigabit LTE. They support Bluetooth 5.0 and have NFC readers to support Apple Pay. In terms of wireless interfaces, there is absolutely no difference between them.

IPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro display

iPhone 11 features a 6.1-inch “Liquid Retina HD” IPS display, while the iPhone 11 Pro family boasts a crisper “Super Retina XDR” OLED display. While the IPS display on the iPhone 11 delivers true-to-life colors, the OLED on the iPhone 11 Pro is brighter in sunlight, can display true blacks and more detail in bright areas. In particular, the iPhone 11 reaches a maximum brightness of 625 nits, while the iPhone 11 Pro reaches 1200 nits. Both models support True Tone and Haptic Touch, but neither model supports 3D Touch, which Apple has dropped.

The IPS display is mainly what Apple was able to bring down the price of the iPhone 11 over the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, but it will be more than enough for most users who use their iPhones for social networking and gaming.

IPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro battery

The battery life of the iPhone 11 is one hour longer than the iPhone XR (its direct predecessor). According to Apple internal testing, the iPhone 11 is rated for 17 hours of downloaded video playback, 10 hours of Wi-Fi video streaming, and 65 hours of audio playback on a single charge.

IPhone 11 Pro battery life is four hours longer than the iPhone XS. up to 18 hours of downloaded video playback, up to 11 hours of Wi-Fi video streaming, and up to 65 hours of audio playback on a single charge.

iPhone 11 Pro Max has the longest battery life in an iPhone. five hours longer than the iPhone XS Max. It is rated for 20 hours of offline video playback, 12 hours of Wi-Fi video streaming, and 80 hours of audio playback.

All three models support wireless charging on any Qi-compatible device, as well as fast charging with an 18W or higher USB-C charger and Lightning-USB-C cable. Notably, the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max ships with an 18W charger and a Lightning-USB-C cable, but the iPhone 11 doesn’t include these updated accessories and instead ships with the previous 5W charger and cable. Lightning-USB-A.

IPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro colors

iPhone 11 is available in purple, yellow, green, black, white, and red. iPhone 11 Pro is available in green, classic space gray, silver, and gold. All models have the same notch (bangs) on the front, volume and side buttons, mute switch, speaker grilles, microphones and a Lightning port.
