How to use the Apple Watch as a remote control for your iPhone camera

One of my favorite iPhone features. is the camera. In fact, rarely a year goes by that Apple doesn’t add some major hardware or software update to the iPhone camera.

And that’s a small reason why they do it. Digital photography is as common as it is popular. When we’re not photographing our food, we take selfies to post to Gram or one of the dozens of other apps that encourage us to share our best images.

But did you know that if you have an Apple Watch, taking photos on your iPhone will be much easier? Especially group photos?

That’s because the Apple Watch can act as a remote shutter control for the iPhone. It can also work as a viewfinder. So your Apple Watch will display what the iPhone camera sees.

Here’s what you need to know. And how to use these exciting new features.

How to add a photo album to your Apple Watch

That’s it, you’ve just added photos from your iPhone to your Apple Watch. You’ll now see them in the Photos app on the Apple Watch. You can even use it for watch faces.

Unfortunately, you can’t sync individual photos. To transfer photos to the Apple Watch, you need to add them to a separate album. By default, your favorites album is selected for syncing, but you can change it to a different one. You can disable synchronization altogether.

By the way, the Apple Watch can store a limited number of photos, but the limit you can choose yourself.

Lifehack: how to take photos with the rear camera using the Apple Watch

Why has this thing gone so viral lately? I think one of the reasons was that folk craftsmen have found an unconventional approach to its use. For example, user Jeff Roy published a post on how he fixed his iPhone in a tripod, and wrapped the smartphone around the Apple Watch strap and used the watch as a small display to see the picture from the iPhone 12 Pro main camera.

For those who don’t know, the FiLMiC Pro app is designed for professional iPhone photography. It has very extensive functionality and is an alternative to using the Apple Watch as a smartphone camera remote. You can buy it in the App Store for 14.99 (not advertising).

So, recently user Patrick Tomasso demonstrated how you can use the iPhone SE as an additional screen to take pictures from the main camera of another iPhone. The FiLMiC Pro app supports remote start/stop and live video preview. So if you do not have an Apple smart watch, but you have, for example, some old iPhone SE, you can use this solution for 15 bucks.

That way, you can use the Apple Watch to see what your iPhone is shooting and control the shooting process remotely: focus, set the shutter timer, edit the picture, etc. д. Access photos on your watch

Tap the watch head to open the watch apps.

Select the Photos app (the multicolored flower icon), and you’ll see a grid of your 3×3 photos. Scroll your finger up or down to see more photos. Press the photo to zoom in on it, and then if you want a closer look, turn the crown of the watch clockwise to zoom out. To go back to viewing an individual photo from the enlarged view (or from the single photo view to the grid view), turn the head counterclockwise again to zoom out.

If you find that you have photos on your watch that you no longer need, simply delete them from the synced album, and the watch app will take care of the rest.

Apple Watch Perspective

Apple developers filed an invention application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office back in 2016. By their design, the camera will not be built into the Apple Watch itself, but into its bracelet. It can easily be detached to take better photos, which should be very convenient.

The development is quite interesting, but it has not yet been implemented, which casts doubt on its future fate.

Apple Watch is not just a wristwatch, which has become more popular than the Swiss. It’s also a minicomputer with lots of functions and features.
