iPod touch. Device Preparation

Before installing a new version of the operating system, it is recommended to backup the device. This is necessary in case something goes wrong during the installation, or you decide to roll back to iOS 12. Many complain that the firmware does not get up the first time.

And remember: iOS 13 beta backup is not compatible with iOS 12.3 and below.

On the device itself

Step 1. Go to Settings. Apple ID. iCloud. Backup copy.

Step 2. Turn on the toggle switch ICloud backup and wait for the completion.

Via iTunes

Step 1. We connect the iPhone or iPad to the computer via wire and open iTunes.

Step 2. Go to the top of the program in the section with your device.

Step 3. In chapter Automatically create copies choose This computer.

Step 4. Click Create backup now and wait for the backup to finish.

That’s all, we are prepared for a bad outcome.

We put iOS 13

We tested performance on macOS Mojave and Windows 10.

macOS

Step 1. Update macOS Mojave to the latest current version.

Step 2. Download this file and open it. Xcode 11 is not needed.

Step 3. Download the firmware file for your device from here.

Step 4. Open iTunes, connect the device to the computer.

Step 5. Hold Option, click Update, and select the downloaded IPSW file.

All. We are waiting for the installation to finish and enjoy iOS 13.

Windows

Everything is a bit more complicated here, since on Windows there is no Xcode necessary to install the operating system.

Step 1. Download the IPSW firmware file from here.

Step 2. Download the ZIP archive from this link. Unpack to the same folder where IPSW is.

Step 3. In Windows search, write cmd and run as Administrator by right-clicking on the icon that appears.

Step 4. At the command prompt, write cd / “the path to the folder where the IPSW file is located.” For example, “cd C: / iOS /”.

Step 5. We write idevicerestore.exe.d “IPSW name”.ipsw on the command line. For example, “idevicerestore.exe.d iPhone112iPhone116_13.0_17A5492t_Restore.ipsw”.

Step 6. We are waiting for the installation of iOS 13. It will take about 2-3 minutes to extract the firmware, then another 10 minutes to install and restore the data.

During installation, iTunes will open. Don’t press anything

Error correction

Many users encounter errors unable to send iBEC (error.8) and unable to place device into restore mode (error.10) during the installation of iOS 13 on Windows. There is a solution:

1. Put your smartphone in recovery mode and do not disconnect from the computer.

2. Open the Device Manager item in the Control Panel.

3. Browse the list for Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB Composite Device. Delete it by right-clicking.

4. Reconnect the iPhone to the computer again.

5. Repeat the firmware installation.

6. If the error appears again during installation, repeat step 3. But this time, do not disconnect the iPhone from the PC.

7. Install iOS 13.
