Smart bracelets from Xiaomi are produced as standalone devices. But with the help of a smartphone, you can get access to wider functionality. To do this, you need to connect the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 to the phone. Now we will tell you how to do it.

  • open the program and click “Register”;
  • choose an account (Mi recommended);
  • specify the country;
  • enter your physical data.

If you already have an account on Mi Fit, by opening the application, you must click “Login” and enter the registration data.

After setting up your account, turn on bluetooth on your smartphone and enter Mi Fit. If another fitness bracelet was previously tied to the program, it must be untied. For this:

  • open “Profile”;
  • click on the name of the device that you plan to untie;
  • click on the “Disable” button.

If no devices were previously tied to Mi Fit, skip this step and follow the following scheme to connect Xiaomi Mi Band 3 to the phone:

  • go to the “Device not connected” tab;
  • in the options that appear, click on the “Bracelet” column;
  • give the program the permissions it requires;
  • place the bracelet next to the smartphone;
  • when the device starts to vibrate, press the button located under the screen.

If the pairing is successful, the Mi Fit application will access the Mi Band 3 settings, and a notification will appear on the display of the Smart bracelet.

By ordering a new fitness bracelet via the Internet (without checking it upon purchase), you may find that the device is turned off and does not show any signs of life. What could be the problem and how to turn on Xiaomi Mi Band 3?

The fact is that this device does not have a power button and, accordingly, it can be turned off only in two cases: the battery is discharged or the tracker is not working properly.

The first thing to check is whether the bracelet is charging. To do this, you need to connect the supplied cable to the Mi Band 3 and insert it into the USB port of your laptop or charger from any smartphone. If the charge indicator immediately appears on the screen, everything is fine, after an hour and a half the fitness tracker will be fully charged and ready for use.

In the event that this did not happen, the bracelet has problems that need to be diagnosed and tried to be solved.

Xiaomi Mi A3 Face Unlock Setup & Working

During long-term transportation from China, the bracelet may be so strongly discharged that the power controller simply refuses to charge the device immediately, and therefore, when charging for a long time, no action may occur (charging indicator blinking).

Leave the bracelet on charging for a long time (for example, overnight) and check the result after the time has elapsed.

If Mi Band 3 hasn’t started showing signs of life, you can try putting it in the freezer for a while. By analogy with the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, the freezing time can vary from five minutes to two hours. After that, put the gadget on charge again.

As it turned out, some Xiaomi Mi Band 3 have display problems. Even if the smartphone is charged, you will still not see its charge level. There are several ways to check for this problem:

During the search for the device, Xiaomi Mi Band 3 vibrates and requires you to click on its touch screen. If everything goes right, you will connect the bracelet to your mobile device, but you will get, in fact, an analogue of the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Pulse in the Mi Band 3 case.

In some cases, the problem is the brightness of the screen, which is certainly a defect. It is so low that the information on the display can be seen only in complete darkness, and even then, only after the eye has adapted to such lighting conditions.

If the above tips did not bring the desired result, most likely the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is broken and needs to be replaced.

In the event that the device was purchased on Aliexpress, open a dispute and attach photos and videos with a breakdown to the refund message. The seller may try to persuade you to accept its terms, namely, to reimburse the cost of repairs in your city, but due to the peculiarities of the device, it is unlikely that someone will undertake to repair it, and if you unsuccessfully try, you will not be able to apply for a refund, so how internal interference with a gadget will lead to the deprivation of any guarantees.

How to customize, change or disable Xiaomi (Redmi) notification sounds

To let you know that a notification has arrived on your Xiaomi (Redmi) phone, special sound signals are provided.

In the MIUI shell settings, there are three types of sounds:

  • Incoming SMS
  • Calendar event
  • Application notification

For all programs, the sounding of notifications will be performed with the help of one sound signal, which can be chosen according to your taste. If you want the signal for each individual application to be different, this must be configured inside the program, provided that it has such functionality.

To select or change the sound on Xiaomi, go to the general settings of the smartphone and find the item “Sound and vibration”. Find the section “Notification melodies and sounds”, inside which it is possible to select the type of signal for each type. The phone is loaded with a wide range of standard signals that change depending on the firmware version and its type. Sounds will take you away on Xiaomi “width =” 300 “height =” 650 “data-lazy-srcset =” https://Mi-check.ru/wp-content/webp-express/webp-images/uploads/2019/09 /Sound_Notification_2.jpg.webp 600w, https://Mi-check.ru/wp-content/webp-express/webp-images/uploads/2019/09/Sound_Notification_2-138×300.jpg.webp 138w, https: // Mi.check.ru/wp-content/webp-express/webp-images/uploads/2019/09/Sound_Notification_2-473×1024.jpg.webp 473w “data-lazy-sizes =” (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px ” data-lazy-src = “https://Mi-check.ru/wp-content/webp-express/webp-images/uploads/2019/09/Sound_Notification_2.jpg.webp” / If you scroll down the settings, you will see additional parameters for certain types of signals when using the phone, they can only be enabled or disabled, the sound cannot be changed.

What to do if notification sounds disappear on Xiaomi?

Sometimes the MIUI shell crashes and some notifications stop sounding. This method works in most but not all cases.

The first thing to do is to unlock the “For developer” mode, to do this, go to the settings and select the “About phone” item, inside which find the “MIUI version” line and click on it 8 times in a row, an inscription will appear on the screen that you became a developer. Now go to the “Advanced Settings” menu and find the “For Developers” item there.

Be careful, changing the settings in this section affects the performance of the smartphone, do not change them if you are not 100% sure of the result.

Scroll to the end of the list, where you will see the “Enable MIUI Optimization” menu, make sure it is active. Reboot your phone.

Now the sounds should be played normally, if they are still not there, then the problem is serious and it makes sense to return the phone to the factory state.

Setting the quality of photos on Xiaomi

First of all, click on the “Photo Quality” button and select “High”. This will reduce the compression when saving photos, which means it will make the images better and more detailed.

No less important is the “Frame format” item. There are two options to choose from:

  • Standard 4: 3;
  • Wide 16: 9.

There is no universal advice on which format to choose and everyone sets it at their discretion. Standard allows you to use the entire area of the matrix to create a snapshot. Thus, having a 16 MP camera, you will get a photo with an honest 16 MP resolution, but the widescreen mode simply does not use the upper and lower parts of the matrix, which leads to a decrease in size, but at the same time the photos fit perfectly into the resolution of modern smartphones and laptop displays without the need for additional cropping.

At the very bottom of the settings menu, there are 4 more items: exposure mode, contrast, saturation and sharpness.

The metering setting can be averaged, center-weighted, and spot.

With averaged metering, the brightness of all parts of the frame is taken into account equally.

Center-weighted mode calculates brightness based on the data at the focus point with smooth fading towards the edges of the image.

Spot mode. measuring the brightness of the frame at the rate of 1-5% of the matrix size.

The most popular are the last two options. center-weighted and point.

As for contrast, saturation and sharpness. you need to try different options and choose the one that suits you personally.

You can also switch shooting from automatic to manual. This will allow you to independently set the white balance, ISO and shutter speed of the camera.

This method is good when shooting in low light, it can significantly improve the quality of photos, but it also has several disadvantages:

  • lowering the ISO can result in less noise in the photo, but at the same time the shutter speed will be longer, which will lead to blurred images if you use the camera without any support, such as a tripod.
  • for each photo in different conditions, you will have to change the settings, which significantly slows down the shooting process. At the same time, so that there are no blurred objects in the photo, they should be static during shooting, unless this is, of course, the artistic intention of the photographer.

Blur the background

The bokeh effect, or more simply, the blurring of the background is the ability to make Accent on a certain subject, making it stand out from the mass of other elements of the photo.

In the event that your smartphone has a dual camera module (such as in smartphones Xiaomi Mi6, Xiaomi Mi 5x, Xiaomi Mi A1). you can use a special portrait mode, which can be found in the article:

For all other mobile devices, you can use a proprietary application from Google and get an equally high-quality blur effect even when using one camera. Read more about this in the material:

How to set up the camera on Xiaomi?

After watching the reviews and buying ourselves a new smartphone, we don’t always get what we expect. The video from the camera is not so high quality, and the photos, especially at night, are very “noisy”. How to set up the camera on Xiaomi Redmi and improve the result?

To begin with, you should set the quality of the camera itself to the maximum (or to the proper level).

To do this, in the system settings, go to the “System applications” section and click on the “Camera” item.

The camera settings menu opens, where you can set parameters for both photo and video.

Setting video quality on Xiaomi

Setting the video quality is the resolution in which the video will be recorded. To configure it, go to the “Video quality” item and select the most optimal one. For most Xiaomi cameras, this is Full HD, since 4k is capable of recording at a low frame rate, and normal HD already looks pretty shabby. With all this, do not forget that the higher the quality of the shooting, the more the video file on the smartphone takes up.

Also, to improve the quality of the video, you should go to the “Focus mode” and select “Touch”. As practice has shown, the continuous focusing (CAF) mode on Xiaomi smartphones mostly misses when jumping from one object to another, which significantly worsens the result.

To shoot a video of better quality and watching videos does not cause disgust, you should use a few simple rules:

  • the video should be horizontal so that it can be comfortably viewed on a large screen of a computer, laptop or TV;
  • when shooting video, do not turn the camera sharply from one object to another, the recording should be smooth;
  • the smartphone must be held with both hands, this will allow you to extinguish the shake of the picture.

git config

Hundreds of things in Git work without any configuration, using the default options. For most of them, you can specify other defaults, or use your own values altogether. This includes a range of settings, from your name to the colors in the terminal and your favorite editor. The config command stores and reads settings in several files, so you can set values globally or for specific repositories.

The git config command is used in almost every chapter of this book.

In Chapter 1, Setting Up Git for the First Time, we used this command to provide a name, email address, and editor before we even started using Git.

In the section on Aliases in Git in Chapter 2, we showed how you can use it to create shorthand versions of commands with long lists of options so you don’t have to print them all every time.

In the Rebase section of Chapter 3, we used config to set the default behavior for the git pull command.

In the Credential Store section of Chapter 7, we used it to set up a store for your HTTP passwords.

In the Keyword Expansion section of Chapter 7, we showed you how to set up content filters for data that moves between an index and a working copy.

Finally, almost the entire Git Configuration section of Chapter 8 is devoted to this command.

Git config core.editor commands

According to the instructions in the Choosing an Editor section in Chapter 1, most editors can be installed as follows:

git config.-global core.editor “atom.-wait”

git config.-global core.editor “gedit.-wait.-new-window”

git config.-global core.editor “‘C: \ Program Files \ Vim \ vim72 \ gvim.exe’.- nofork ‘%'” (see note below)

git config.-global core.editor “‘C: \ Program Files \ Notepad \ notepad.exe’.multiInst.notabbar.nosession.noPlugin” (see note below)

git config.-global core.editor “scratch-text-editor”

git config.-global core.editor “/ Applications / Sublime \ Text.app/Contents/SharedSupport/bin/subl.-new-window.-wait”

git config.-global core.editor “‘C: \ Program Files \ Sublime Text 3 \ sublime_text.exe’.w” (see note below)

git config.-global.-add core.editor “open.W.n”

git config.-global core.editor “‘C: \ Program Files \ TextPad 5 \ TextPad.exe’.m” (see note below)

git config.-global core.editor “code.-wait”

VSCodium (Free / Libre Open Source Software Binaries of VSCode)

git config.-global core.editor “codium.-wait”

git config.-global core.editor “‘C: \ Program Files \ Windows NT \ Accessories \ wordpad.exe'”

If you have a 32-bit version of the editor installed on a 64-bit system, then the path to it will contain C: \ Program Files (x86) \. not C: \ Program Files \ as indicated in the table above.

A3.1 Appendix C: Git Commands. Setup and configuration

than a dozen different Git commands have been shown in this book, and we have put a lot of effort to tell you about them, building a certain logical order, gradually introducing the commands into the plot. But this approach “smeared” the descriptions of the commands throughout the book.

In this appendix, we will go through all the commands discussed and group them by meaning. We will cover what each command does and indicate the chapters in the book where this command was used.

Setup and configuration

Two fairly common commands used both immediately after installing Git and in everyday practice to configure and get help are config and help.

git help

The git help command displays the built-in Git documentation for other commands. Although we provide descriptions of the most popular commands in this chapter, a complete list of parameters and flags for each command is available via git help.

We’ve introduced this command in How do I get help? Chapter 1 and showed you how to use it to find more information on the git shell command in the Configuring Your Server section of Chapter 4.

Step 1.

We connect the smartphone to the computer via a USB cable. Rename the downloaded firmware file “update.zip”. The name is only with a small letter. Do not change the ZIP file extension.

Copy the renamed file with the firmware “update.zip” to the phone’s memory. That is, to the internal shared storage itself, and not to any folder on the phone.

Step 4.

We do a complete data cleaning through the Recovery mode. Cleaning in this mode is recommended if you are upgrading to a previous (old) MIUI version or want to upgrade through one or more firmware versions.

xiaomi

Go to “Settings”. “About phone”. “System update”, in the upper right corner there are three horizontal dots, click on them, and select “Restart in Recovery mode”.

In the menu that opens, select Wipe Data or Wipe Reset.

Step 2.

Fully charge your phone! The minimum battery charge is 70%, but it is better that the charge level is 90% or higher.

Rollback update without ROOT rights

In what other cases does the rollback of the MIUI update help. If the Xiaomi smartphone after the update:

Xiaomi Mi A3. Unboxing, Setup & Benchmark

  • does not work,
  • is not downloading,
  • requires a password,
  • reboots,
  • System app not responding.

How to rollback an update on Xiaomi

You have installed the latest Xiaomi update that arrived via OTA. After a while, you noticed that the Xiaomi smartphone does not work well after the update and starts to glitch. To restore the normal performance of your device, you will need to roll back the MIUI update and roll back the Xiaomi update.

For our readers, we have prepared detailed instructions from which you will learn how to roll back the MIUI 9 update and install the previous (old) version of miui.

Step 3.

Reset to factory settings. Go to “Settings”. “Advanced settings”. “Restore and reset”.

In some situations, “Factory Reset” is already a rollback method. Since if you just bought a phone and updated, then in this way you can roll back to the factory version of the OS.

Once again, we will clarify that a factory reset will delete all your data from the phone (contacts, photos, videos, applications, phone settings, etc.). Therefore, it is so important to complete “Step 1” and make a backup.

Where to find the previous MIUI firmware?

The old MIUI firmware can be found on the Xiaomi official website. Go to en.miui.com. Go to the “Downloads” section (for the ru.miui.com domain, this is the “Firmware” section).

Find your phone model. In our case, this is Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm Global.

At the moment, the main release indicates the stable global firmware MIUI 9. V9.5.8.0.NCFMIFA. We need version 9.2.1.0, so click on the “Older versions” tab on the left.

Select V9.2.1.0.NCFMIEK and click download. The archive size is 1.3 GB. You can download the archive with the firmware to any device, i.e. it doesn’t have to be a phone or a laptop.

Step 2.

We set up the phone to install the firmware. Open “Settings”. Go to “Advanced settings”.

We click on the item “For developers”. Move the slider to “Factory Unlock”.

How to properly configure the Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi Mini router

The first problem that all users, without exception, face is the device control panel in Chinese without the option of even choosing English. What to do in this case? There is only one answer: the router needs to be reflashed. This is a long and time-consuming process, we will consider it in a separate article. However, if you follow our instructions, you can set up the Xiaomi Mini router and forget about this control panel altogether. The main thing is that the Internet is stable.!

In addition, the settings of the Xiaomi Mini router can be carried out not only from a computer, but also from a tablet or phone, and the English-language program Mi Router will help us with this. We will also consider this method in this article.

Mi Router. Customization

Before starting any configuration of the router, it must be connected. Connect it to a 220 V network and plug the Internet cable into the Internet port. Then we go to the settings menu and connect the router to the PC (you can either via Wi-Fi or via a cord, but the latter is not included in the kit). After the connection has been established, you will see in the list of wireless networks a new, not password-protected network, which is named something like this: Xiaomi_12345678 (numbers can be any). You need to connect to it.

If the Internet started working right away, then it is better to configure it using a Yandex browser or Chrome, since they have a built-in page translator. Of course, the translation will be a little “crooked”, but in any case it is better than an incomprehensible Chinese language.

Open one of these browsers. We need the address miwifi.com, where on the main page we press the big button, thereby accepting the license agreement. In the next window, set the network name and set a password that will protect the settings of the router (do not confuse it with the password for accessing Wi-Fi). Of course, you can make them the same just by ticking the appropriate box, but we do not recommend doing this. After that, you will see a message about the creation of two different-frequency wi-fi networks with names, and the router will reboot. Next, we see a new network with the name we set earlier, to which we need to connect using our password.

If the settings window has not yet been closed, click on the button: there will be an offer to download a special Mi Router application to your smartphone for the convenience of controlling the Xiaomi Mi Router Mini. It is installed directly from the App Store or Play Market.

Important! If the Internet is already working, then further configuration of the Xiaomi Mi router is not needed. If it does not work, go further according to the instructions.

Further configuration of the Xiaomi Mi WI-FI Mini router

Go to miwifi.com again and see a password request. Here we enter the password for accessing the settings, which we came up with at the beginning. Then we go to a separate page in the settings and select the type of connection (most often it is PPPoE), which, if you don’t know, you can find out from your Internet provider. Then we set the necessary connection settings (for example, IP), which we also take from our provider or look in the contract for connecting to the Internet. The first field after the connection type is the login, the second is the password. We tick the first item, it means manual configuration of additional parameters. Done, the Internet should work.

If you suddenly have a desire to change the network name, password or disconnect the Internet to some of the frequencies, then go to the parameters again and click on the third item in the top menu, and then on the first wi-fi icon in a blue circle. In the 2.4G Wi-Fi section, by marking the first item with a dot, you can turn off the router in this range, and just below there will be a 5G Wi-Fi setting. Where to change the network name and password, you will see for yourself: they are registered there in the appropriate fields, you just need to change them.

How to set up a router using a smartphone or tablet

As promised, we are going to tell you how to connect a router via a portable device. First, install the official Mi Router application from the App Store or Play Market. Then we connect the wi-fi router to the smartphone via a wireless IP network that will not be password protected. In addition, the router itself also needs to be connected to the Internet through the appropriate cord.

If you have a smartphone from Apple, then a window will immediately pop up on the screen with the settings for the router, and if you are the owner of an Android gadget, in the program itself, click on the Set up a new router menu item and specify the location of its installation, and then click on Next Almost always further on Xiaomi routers, the network connection is checked, and if you have DHCP, then the Internet will work immediately. And if your Internet provider uses PPPoE, then you will need to register a username and password.

The last step is to change the name of the Internet connection and set a password on it. Enter them in the appropriate fields and click on “Finish”. Important! The specified password will also be the password for the parameters of the router, which you can enter here: miwifi.com.

Done, your router is set up! If you have any problems in the process, we recommend trying again using an Internet browser on your computer. Good luck! If you have any questions or additions. write in the Комментарии и мнения владельцев.

How to speed up your Xiaomi?

Xiaomi smartphones are fast not only after purchase, but also after two years of active use. This is achieved through a smart balance between powerful hardware and software. However, sometimes you want more, and Xiaomi smartphones have something to offer you.

The Android system, on which the Xiaomi MIUI proprietary shell is based, has OpenGL support. According to the Wikipedia encyclopedia, OpenGL is a specification that defines a platform independent (programming language independent) programming interface for writing applications using 2D and 3D computer graphics.

OpenGL includes over 300 functions for drawing complex 3D scenes from simple primitives. Used in the creation of computer games, CAD, virtual reality, visualization in scientific research.

However, according to the initial setup, Xiaomi smartphones use the classic OpenGL look.

But smartphones with Android 7.0 and higher version have the option to select OpenGL (Skia). This is a new library that Google acquired in 2005. Enabling this library will allow you to enjoy faster interface performance, as well as improve performance in 3D applications such as games.

To enable this option, you must enable the “For Developers” mode. Therefore, open the “Settings”. section “About phone”, then 7 times click on “MIUI version”.

After that, go to “Settings”. “Advanced settings”. “For developers”.

In this section, you need to find the item “Renderer” and put OpenGL (Skia) in it. After that, the speed of your Xiaomi will increase.

This option is not available on all Xiaomi smartphones.

There are other ways to solve the power shortage of smartphones. First you need to get rid of all unnecessary applications. Over the years, the smartphone may accumulate applications that the user has not used for a long time. They not only drain your device’s power, but also take up memory space. It is recommended that such applications be identified and removed. To make things easier for yourself, we recommend running the standard Security application and opening the Deep Cleaning. Applications item. The system itself will prompt those applications that have not been used for a long time, and will also tell you how much space will be free on the smartphone.

The next step is to periodically clean the system. In MIUI 10, the edge desktop received support for special widgets. One of them is “Clearing the system from cache files”. The system finds them by itself and offers to clean them, we recommend that you perform this procedure every 3-4 days. Also, for the same purpose, we recommend doing a hard reboot of the device once every 2 weeks. To do this, you just need to press and hold the power button for 20-25 seconds.

The most important step is setting up the system in the developer menu. First, you need to open access to a special section in the smartphone settings. To do this, you need to click 7 times on the item “MIUI Version”. This item is in “Settings”. “About phone”.

Next, go to “Advanced Settings”. “For Developers”. We find the following items:

  • “Animation of windows”;
  • “Animation of transitions”;
  • Animation duration.

By default, the value “Animation 1x” will be used everywhere, we recommend changing it to the following values:

  • “Window animation”. 1.5x;
  • “Animation of transitions”. 1x;
  • “Animation duration”. 0.5x.

Next, you need to go down a little lower and find the item “Enable GPU acceleration”. You need to activate this option, it can lead to increased battery consumption, but the rendering speed will increase.

The last step is to disable duplicate applications. The system has a set of standard applications from Google that cannot be removed. But many users do not know that such applications can be disabled. To do this, you need to download the Redmi System Manager application.

You need to open it and click on the Start button. After finding unused Google applications, click on them and then click on the “Disable” button. After that, they will become inactive, and the application icon will disappear from the desktop.

Dividing incoming calls by ringtones is very convenient. You can immediately understand who is calling, urgent or not. This procedure is completely done manually, that is, separately for each contact.

  • Go to “Contacts”;
  • Select the required subscriber;
  • In its section, click on the “” menu (three dots), or scroll to “Other” (depending on the phone model);
  • Click the “Default ringtone” field;
  • The already familiar page has opened, where you also need to select the desired song or ringtone;

How to set Xiaomi ringtone

Various messengers, social networks are rapidly coming into use. Although many people already find their use more convenient, telephone conversations have not yet lost their significance. On the contrary, new functions and capabilities appear in modern smartphones, and consumers make call settings as comfortable as possible. This also applies to the ringtone. Someone does not pay attention, using the standard ringtone, and someone prefers to put their own music or even set a separate track for each contact. In this article, we will figure out how to set a ringtone Xiaomi.

XIAOMI Mi A3 Set Up Process / Activation Process

How to put a downloaded song on a call. the first way:

  • Select the song you want, then click to open the player;

ringtone xiaomi

  • Next, click on the menu. the far right button (three dots). There are several functions that we need. “Set to Call”;
  • Press, and then you get an instant notification that the melody is installed;

Own music: how to install

Not everyone is satisfied with the standard ringtones, so sometimes the questions arise: “How do I upload my own track?” and “Where can I get it from?”.

  • First, of course, you need to download the song itself. this can be easily done via the Internet, where, in addition to the full-fledged versions of the music, there are also special processed tracks for setting ringtones: with the moment you need in the song or suitable in length.
  • It is best to download music in “.mp3” format;
  • It is also recommended to put the necessary songs in the internal memory of the device.

So, there are two ways to install tracks: through the “Music” application and through the “Settings”.

How to change the ringtone

First, let’s talk about how to put standard melodies or change one to another.

Xiaomi standard ringtone:

  • Go to “Settings”;
  • After scrolling the page a little, find the Sound and Vibration tab. open it;

ringtone xiaomi

  • In the tab you can see several sections, from which first select “Volume” and go;
  • Please note that here you can adjust the sound volume for all kinds of signals: Bluetooth, alarm clock, ringtone and even the volume during a conversation;
  • We go back a little, select the “Incoming call” tab, then again “Incoming call”;

“Setting up two SIM cards”. means that if your phone has two SIM cards, the melodies you have chosen will be installed on both at once.

To change an installed ringtone you don’t like, just repeat the above steps and select another music at the end.

Third Party Applications

For purposes such as setting a ringtone, you can also use special applications, in which the range of melodies and possibilities is wider.

Accessible utilities:

  • “ZEDGE Ringtones Wallpapers”. First, this app offers its own ringtone list. The songs you like can be downloaded by clicking on the corresponding button. Secondly, the program provides the installation of ringtones for an alarm clock, ringtone, SMS signal, even notifications.
  • “Smooth call”. In addition to the standard functions, the application provides the ability to make settings such as vibration alert parameters, setting the flash on an incoming call, and automatically gradually increasing the volume on an incoming call.

To find similar programs, go to the “Play Market”. Write keywords in the address bar, for example, “ringtones” or “ringtones”.

Now let’s look at the second way through the “Settings”.

It is similar to the process of installing a standard ringtone.

  • Go to “Settings”;
  • Find the Sound and Vibration tab;
  • You have already been in this section before, only now you need to click on the “Browse” or “” button below;
  • You are offered several options for the location of the track: “Music”, “Explorer” and “Dictaphone”;
  • So, you can go in two ways: if you know for sure that the song is in the “Music” application, press the corresponding button;
  • Now just select a track and click “OK”;
  • And if, when uploading a track, you put it in some other folder, it’s easier for you to go through the “Explorer”. You will also need to select “SD card” or “Internal memory”;
  • Then just mark the desired track, press “Ok”;

These methods are relevant for all Xiaomi models: both for Xiaomi Redmi 4x and for Xiaomi Mi a1.

SMS settings in Xiaomi. instructions and troubleshooting

Xiaomi, like any Android or MIUI smartphone, can be customized in detail for yourself. We will analyze the settings and useful functions of SMS in Xiaomi, as well as find out why SMS is not sent.

Large letters when reading SMS on Xiaomi

This function will be useful for visually impaired people or for reading large messages.

Open SMS and double-click on the required message

To exit the mode, press once on the message.

How to pin a dialogue to the SMS menu

With frequent communication via SMS, an important contact can go down the list: in order not to search for correspondence, it can be fixed. This is done as follows: go to messages, press and hold the required dialog, after that a menu appears below. select “Fix”

Password for SMS in Xiaomi

You can set a pattern on certain contacts so that no one but you can see your messages. Go to messages and slide your finger from top to bottom until you see the lock in the background. Then the smartphone will offer to create a pattern and add the contacts of which to hide.

Xiaomi SMS Blocking

We go to “Settings”. “System applications”. “Security”. “Black list”

You can configure blocking of incoming calls, SMS, also blocking SMS by keywords.

Timer SMS sending

A useful function that will help you not to miss an important event, and if you missed it, then, for example, congratulate you, notify you for you.

We go into messages and select the subscriber, next to the field for entering text there is “”, click on it and select “Timer”.

Some additional possibilities when you press “”:

  • Quick replies (templates). swipe to the right;
  • Send contact (someone else’s vCard), attach multimedia (like MMS);
  • Add nickname as an appeal.

Xiaomi does not send SMS

If your Xiaomi smartphone has stopped sending SMS, you need to check if the numbers of SMS centers are correct.

To check, go to “Settings”. “System applications”. “Messages”. “Advanced”.

Russian mobile operators have the following SMS center numbers:

  • Tele2. 79043490000
  • Beeline. 79037011111
  • Megaphone. 79202909090
  • MTS. 79168999100

One of the problems of sending and receiving SMS may be in the SIM card: for example, you have changed the SIM card, and you need to wait exactly one day for sending and receiving SMS messages to work, this is a feature of mobile operators.

Telephone part and communications

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, on which the smartphone’s hardware platform is based, has a built-in X12 LTE modem. In theory, such a platform should support LTE Cat.12 / 13 networks at speeds up to 600/150 Mbps. Among the supported frequencies, there are also all the most popular in Russia, if we are talking about the European officially supplied modification of the Xiaomi Mi A3. In practice, within the city limits of the Moscow region, the device demonstrates confident operation in wireless networks, does not lose connection, quickly restores communication after a forced break.

There is also support for dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5 GHz), 802.11ac, 2×2 MIMO, frequency aggregation. There is Bluetooth version 5.0 with support for A2DP, LE, aptX HD. But there is no NFC, and this is a serious disadvantage for a smartphone officially supplied to Europe.

The navigation module works with GPS (with A-GPS), with the domestic Glonass and with the Chinese Beidou. The first satellites, even with a cold start, are detected almost instantly, in a few seconds. Magnetic COMPASS, necessary for navigation programs, among the built-in sensors there is.

The phone application supports Smart Dial, that is, when dialing a phone number, a search is immediately carried out by the first letters in contacts. The methods for sorting and displaying contacts are standard for the Android interface. The interlocutor’s voice is intelligible in the loudspeaker, the sound is clear and loud, the vibration alert is well felt. SIM cards work in Dual SIM mode, 4G / 4G standby, there is only one radio modem. It is a pity that there is no standard possibility of automatic recording of telephone conversations from the mowing line.

Smartphone review Xiaomi Mi A3

Two years after the release of the first Mi A1 model on stock Android OS, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is launching the third model in the series, the Mi A3. Thus, the iconic line of smartphones for fans of the Xiaomi brand who want to use the devices of this manufacturer, but without the proprietary MIUI shell, has once again been updated. Is there any progress?

Screen

Xiaomi Mi A3 is equipped with a 6.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1560 × 720, covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The physical dimensions are 65 × 140 mm, the aspect ratio is 19.5: 9, and the dot density is 286 ppi. The width of the frame around the screen is: 3.5 mm each at the sides, 4 mm at the top and 8 mm at the bottom.

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface, resistant to scratches. Judging by the reflection of objects, the anti-glare properties of the screen are not worse than those of the Google Nexus 7 (2013) (hereinafter simply Nexus 7). For clarity, here is a photo in which a white surface is reflected in the turned off screens (on the left. Nexus 7, on the right. Xiaomi Mi A3, then they can be distinguished by their size):

The screen of the Xiaomi Mi A3 is slightly lighter (brightness in photographs is 124 versus 120 for the Nexus 7). The doubling of reflected objects in the Xiaomi Mi A3 screen is very weak, which indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen. Due to the smaller number of boundaries (such as glass / air) with very different refractive indices, such screens look better in conditions of intense ambient light, but their repair in the case of cracked outer glass is much more expensive, since the entire screen has to be changed. On the outer surface of the screen there is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating (better than Nexus 7 in efficiency), so fingerprints are easier to remove and appear at a slower speed than in the case of regular glass.

With manual brightness control and with a full-screen white field, the maximum brightness value was about 340 cd / m². It should be borne in mind that in this case, the smaller the white area on the screen, the lighter it is, that is, the actual maximum brightness of the white areas will almost always be slightly higher than the specified value. For example, when displaying a black field on one half of the screen and white on the other, the brightness reaches 380 cd / m², which, however, is still not much. As a result, even taking into account the good anti-glare properties, during the day in the sun it will be possible to make out something on the screen, but no more. The minimum brightness value is 3 cd / m², so in complete darkness the brightness can be lowered to a comfortable value. In the presence of automatic brightness control according to the light sensor (it is located close to the top edge to the left of the front speaker grill). In automatic mode, when the ambient light conditions change, the screen brightness both increases and decreases. The operation of this function depends on the position of the brightness adjustment slider: with it the user can try to set the desired brightness level in the current conditions.

If you do not intervene, then in complete darkness, the auto-brightness function reduces the brightness to 3 cd / m2 (low), in an office illuminated with artificial light (about 550 lx) sets it to 160 cd / m2 (normal), and conventionally in direct sunlight, the brightness reaches 340 cd / m² (the maximum you need). We slightly increased the brightness in complete darkness and got 10 cd / m² in complete darkness, 160 cd / m² in an office illuminated with artificial light, 340 cd / m² in the “sun”, this result was fine for us. It turns out that the automatic brightness control function works adequately and allows the user to customize his work for individual requirements.

At any brightness level, there is significant modulation at 60 or 240 Hz. The figure below shows the dependence of brightness (vertical axis) on time (horizontal axis) for several values of brightness adjustment:

It can be seen that at maximum and average brightness, the modulation amplitude is not very large, as a result, there is no visible flicker. However, with a strong decrease in brightness, modulation appears with a large relative amplitude, its presence can already be seen in the test for the presence of a stroboscopic effect or simply with rapid eye movement. Depending on individual sensitivity, such flickering can cause increased fatigue. However, the modulation phase differs across the screen area, so the negative effect of flickering is reduced.

This screen uses a Super AMOLED matrix. an active matrix on organic light-emitting diodes. A full-color image is created using subpixels of three colors. red (R), green (G) and blue (B), but there are half the red and blue subpixels, which can be referred to as RGBG. This is confirmed by a fragment of a micrograph:

For comparison, you can see the gallery of micrographs of screens used in mobile technology.

In the fragment above, you can count 4 green subpixels, 2 red (4 halves) and 2 blue (1 whole and 4 quarters), while repeating these fragments, you can lay out the entire screen without gaps and overlaps. For such matrices, Samsung has introduced the name PenTile RGBG. The manufacturer calculates the screen resolution for green subpixels, for the other two it will be two times lower. Of course, there are some uneven contrast borders and other artifacts. Due to the relatively low resolution and large screen area, even plain areas of the image look “friable”, with a visible mesh structure.

The screen has excellent viewing angles. True, when deviated even at small angles, the white color alternately acquires a barely visible blue-green and pinkish tint, but the black color remains simply black at any angle. It is so black that the contrast setting is not applicable in this case. For comparison, we present photographs in which the same images are displayed on the screens of Xiaomi Mi A3 and Nexus 7, while the brightness of the screens was initially set to about 200 cd / m2, and the color balance on the camera was forced to 6500 K.

The uniformity of brightness and color tone of the white field is good.

The colors on the Xiaomi Mi A3 screen are oversaturated (note the tomatoes, bananas, the napkin and the face tone) and the color balance is slightly different. Recall that a photograph cannot serve as a reliable source of information about the quality of color rendition and is provided only for a conditional visual illustration. In particular, the pronounced reddish tint of white and gray fields present in the photographs of the Xiaomi Mi A3 screen is visually absent when viewed from a perpendicular view, which is confirmed by hardware tests using a spectrophotometer. The reason is that the spectral sensitivity of the camera matrix does not exactly match this characteristic of human vision.

Now at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the plane and to the side of the screen. White box:

The brightness at an angle on both screens decreased noticeably (to avoid strong darkening, the shutter speed was increased compared to previous photos), but in the case of the Xiaomi Mi A3, the drop in brightness is less. As a result, with formally the same brightness, the Xiaomi Mi A3 screen visually looks much brighter (in comparison with LCD screens), since you often have to look at the screen of a mobile device at least from a slight angle.

It can be seen that the colors have not changed much on both screens and the brightness of the Xiaomi Mi A3 is noticeably higher at an angle. The switching of the state of the matrix elements is performed almost instantly, but at the turn-on front there may be a step with a width of about 17 ms (which corresponds to a screen refresh rate of about 60 Hz). For example, this is how the dependence of brightness on time looks like when switching from black to white and back:

In some conditions, the presence of such a step can lead to trails (and leads), reaching after moving objects. However, dynamic scenes in films on OLED screens are distinguished by high definition and even some “jerky” movements.

The gamma curve plotted using 32 points with equal intervals in terms of the numerical value of the shade of gray showed that there was no significant blockage either in the highlights or in the shadows. The exponent of the approximating power function is 2.26, which is slightly higher than the standard value of 2.2. In this case, the real gamma curve slightly deviates from the power dependence:

Recall that in the case of OLED screens, the brightness of image fragments dynamically changes in accordance with the nature of the displayed image. it decreases for generally light images. As a result, the obtained dependence of brightness on hue (gamma curve), most likely, does not correspond a little to the gamma curve of a static image, since the measurements were carried out with sequential output of shades of gray on almost the entire screen.

The color gamut is noticeably wider than sRGB and is close to DCI-P3:

The spectra of the components are very well separated, which allows you to get a wide coverage:

Note that normal sRGB-optimized images appear unnaturally saturated on screens with wide color gamut without proper color correction. There is even a switch in the developer’s settings for output in sRGB mode, but activating it does not lead to anything and the switch is displayed not activated the next time you go to the corresponding page with settings.

The grayscale balance is good, as the color temperature is slightly above the standard 6500K, and the deviation from Spectra’s absolute blackbody (ΔE) is below 10, which is considered a good indicator for a consumer device. At the same time, the color temperature and ΔE vary little from shade to shade. this has a positive effect on the visual assessment of the color balance. (The darkest areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since the color balance there is not very important, and the error in measuring color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

Of course, there is a mode with a reduced intensity of the blue component. Recall that, in principle, bright light can lead to a violation of the circadian rhythm (see the article about the iPad Pro with a 9.7-inch display), but everything is solved by adjusting the brightness to a comfortable level, and distorting the color balance, reducing the contribution of blue. there is absolutely no point.

Let’s summarize. The screen has a low maximum brightness, but has good anti-reflective properties, so the device can somehow be used outdoors even on a sunny summer day. In complete darkness, the brightness can be reduced to a comfortable value. It is permissible to use the mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works adequately. The advantages of the screen include an effective oleophobic coating and good color balance. At the same time, let’s recall the general advantages of OLED screens: true black color (if nothing is reflected in the screen), good uniformity of the white field, noticeably less than that of LCDs, a drop in image brightness when viewed from an angle. The disadvantages include relatively low resolution (exacerbated by the PenTile subpixel structure), modulation of screen brightness and oversaturated colors due to too wide color gamut. Users who are particularly sensitive to flicker may experience increased fatigue, and watching movies and photos on this screen is unpleasant. In general, the screen quality is poor. In fact, it is one of the worst OLED screens on modern smartphones.

Heat

Below is a thermal image of the rear surface taken after 15 minutes of fighting a gorilla in Injustice 2 (this test is also used to determine autonomy in 3D games):

The heating is higher in the upper part of the device, which, apparently, corresponds to the location of the SoC chip. According to the heat chamber, the maximum heating was 39 degrees (at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees), this is not very much.

Software and multimedia

Xiaomi Mi A3 works on the Android 9th version software platform without the MIUI proprietary shell. This is one of the main differences between smartphones offered under the Android One program (which, by the way, are produced not only by Xiaomi, but also, for example, by Nokia) from other Xiaomi mobile devices. Brand design of Google designers (Material Design), speed and lightness, asceticism in everything. the characteristic features of “pure” Android. But even here, the developers installed a couple of their own programs (Mi Store and Mi Community) and also used their own camera app. Among the innovations, we can note the appearance in many applications of a fashionable dark theme, which, however, some immediately change back to a more familiar light one, because what is good for reading books is far from always convenient for working with the interface, files, windows, etc.

There is a face unlock function. Its work is based on only one front camera, so the security of such a solution is not maximum, and unlocking does not work in the dark. We have to resort to using a sub-screen fingerprint scanner, but here it is rather slow.

When dubbing movies, music and games, Xiaomi Mi A3 only has one main speaker, but it sounds good for a smartphone of this level. The sound, of course, is not saturated, but clean, although the volume margin is not maximum.

In addition, many will appreciate the 3.5mm headphone audio output. In headphones, the sound is quite clear, but simple, does not shine with voluminous bass, and the volume margin is small. For wireless headphones, there is support for aptX / aptX-HD codecs.

Performance

Xiaomi Mi A3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 (SDM665) SoC, manufactured using an 11nm process technology. This SoC is configured with 8 processor cores: four Kryo 260 Gold at up to 2.0 GHz and four Kryo 260 Silver at up to 1.8 GHz. The role of the graphics processor is performed by Adreno 610. The amount of RAM of the smartphone is 4 GB, the amount of storage is 64 or 128 GB. You can also install a memory card. up to 256 GB. Supports connection of external devices to the USB Type-C port in USB OTG mode.

The Snapdragon 665 is a decent mid-range mobile platform. This is not the highest average level, like the 700th series, and it certainly is far from top results: in AnTuTu it gives out only about 135K points. But in real use, its capabilities are sufficient for any task. The most demanding games at maximum settings can slow down a little, but in general, most games are played comfortably. The platform is quite decent.

Benchmarking AnTuTu and GeekBench:

All the results obtained by us when testing the smartphone in the most recent versions of popular benchmarks, we have summarized in tables for convenience. Several other devices from various segments are usually added to the table, also tested on similar latest versions of benchmarks (this is done only for a visual assessment of the obtained dry numbers). Unfortunately, within the framework of one comparison, it is impossible to present the results from different versions of benchmarks, therefore, many worthy and relevant models remain “behind the scenes”. due to the fact that they once passed the “obstacle course” on previous versions of test programs.

Testing in browser cross-platform tests:

As for benchmarks for evaluating the speed of the javascript engine, you should always make allowances for the fact that the results in them significantly depend on the browser in which they are launched, so that the comparison can be truly correct only on the same OS and browsers, and this possibility is available when testing not always. In the case of Android OS, we always try to use Google Chrome.

AndroBench memory speed test results:

Camera

The front camera 32 megapixels (f / 2.0) produces excellent sharpness, detail and brightness images that remain juicy and contrasting even in difficult lighting. Cropping the central object in the frame (to blur the background around it) is done quite neatly, although, it would seem, there is no additional front module here. The results are impressive, the camera is excellent.

Perhaps, many would seriously think about purchasing the Xiaomi Mi A3 if the bundled with all this “pure Android” was also a proprietary Google camera, which is a high-level standard for smartphones today. However, Xiaomi has its own way, and by default the smartphone has a camera from MIUI. this is not at all a bad option, but GCam wanted more. Of course, Google Camera can be installed on Xiaomi Mi A3 (the smartphone has a Camera2 API out of the box), but at the moment there is no version adapted for this model, so at least a wide-angle camera will not work in the application, some some proprietary modes, etc.

The rear group of cameras consists of three modules. The first has a 48-megapixel sensor (matrix size. 1/2 ″, pixel size. 0.8 microns) and a lens with an aperture of f / 1.8. There is PDAF phase detection autofocus, but there is no optical stabilization. only electronic. Nearby is a wide-angle (118 °) module with an 8 megapixel sensor and a lens with an f / 2.2 aperture (pixel size. 1.12 microns). Optical distortion of wide-angle optics in the settings is programmatically corrected using the function “Automatically correct distorted objects”.

As expected, the wide-angle module is very weak, there is no sharpness even in the center, and everything is completely sad at the edges of the frame. Suitable only for viewing thumbnails of photos on the screen of the smartphone itself.

The main module has the ability to take pictures with high resolution, and it is easy to switch from 12 megapixels to 48 megapixels when shooting: the icon is always right in front of your eyes. In the maximum resolution mode, the zoom switch disappears from the screen (that’s where it goes).

The camera application brings its own specifics to the processing of photos, and in the case of 48 megapixels, the processing often leaves much to be desired, visually more “garbage” appears, not to mention the fact that the shooting process is significantly slowed down and the storage requirements are sharply increased. Squeezing out a little more detail from 48-megapixel shots is usually possible, but in real life it is almost never useful. unless it is important for you to read the distant caption.

As for the main camera, if you are not embarrassed by the discolored noise clearly distinguishable in the shadows, the quality of the pictures can be safely called good. As a rule, everything is very good on them with detail, and over the entire field of the frame, and there are no obvious distortions. over, when moving into the shade or when shooting in dusk, the noise becomes even more noticeable, but its character does not change, remains familiar, while in “almost flagship” smartphones in such conditions the picture degrades noticeably and sharply. Night shots on the camera are quite decent, but you can use a special night mode, which makes the picture brighter and brighter, more pleasing to the eye, but at the expense of some degradation of quality.

The zoom here is only digital, although the 2x zoom button is brought to the central place in the viewfinder. Maximum digital zoom. 8 ×.

Artificial intelligence is responsible for scene detection here. There is a manual settings mode. There is no native ability to save images in RAW, but no one prohibits the use of third-party programs.
