One of the reasons I love Airpods is how delightfully easy they connect to an Apple gadget. I set it up once, and then everything works by itself.
But there is one point. When you have multiple Apple devices, you may need to go to the Music widget in Control Center to reconnect headphones between them. Or tap on the sound source menu in Music or any other application.
So, I found a way to automate the process and not open any menus. Airpods will automatically connect to at least five iPhones exactly when you need it.
It’s six in the morning in Moscow, so the beginning is chaotic, sorry. I will try to explain below.
What we got as a result
When you open any application from the ones selected in the automation (in our example, Music in iOS), the device used forcibly connects Airpods or Beats to itself.
That is, they listened to music on the iPhone, then opened YouTube on the iPad, and the Airpods themselves connected to the tablet. We watched the video on the iPad, took the iPhone and opened the player back. Airpods switched to the smartphone. Headphones were not removed, no menus were opened. Everything works by itself.
The list of applications for which our automation is activated can be completely different on different gadgets. This allows you to customize the feature to suit your habits and usage scenarios.
Well, if you do not use Airpods and they are in the case, then they will not connect anywhere. Automation will not work, the sound will go either through the speakers or through other connected headphones.
All that remains is to figure out how to do the same for the Mac. If I find a way, I will add here later.
