Homemade zigzag antenna

The antenna invented by K.P. Kharchenko is respected by home craftsmen. in the form of a zigzag, back in 1961. At that time, her “parent” was far from using his antenna to receive a digital signal. But now it turns out that its design is perfect for this purpose. Here, using an example of such an invention, we will consider how to make a digital antenna for a TV. True, you will have to use a soldering iron.

Before making a homemade antenna of this kind for a TV, you will have to prepare some materials:

  • Copper wire with a cross section from 3 to 5 mm.
  • TV cable length from 3 to 5 m.
  • Solder.
  • Soldering iron.
  • Plug.
  • Insulating tape.
  • Plastic or plywood as base.
  • Mounting bolts or self-tapping screws.

Antenna manufacturing begins with a frame. You need to make two diamonds that will fit into one line. Each side should be 13.5 cm long. To do this, you need a 110 cm piece of wire, which must be bent according to the specified parameters. After making the frame, 1 cm of free wire should remain, which is used to bend the loops in order to fasten the frame. This fastener is finally closed after soldering. As a result, the frame will look like two interconnected rhombuses.

The next step in the process of how to make an antenna for a TV at home is to attach the cable to the frame. To begin with, at the junction of the rhombuses in the center of the frame, their corners should not touch, since it is to these corners that the cable rod and its screen will be attached. The rod is attached to the upper corner by wrapping and soldering. The screen is similarly attached to the lower corner. The distance between the corners should be 2 cm.

The frame with the soldered cable is now installed on the base. It is better to put the antenna on a hill, having previously painted it. Of course, the signal quality will drop a little, but even without paint, copper will still oxidize and a plaque will form. A painted antenna will be more protected from various weather conditions. Especially if a wooden plank is used as a base.

Conventional outdoor TV antenna

Now let’s move on from indoor antennas to external ones. Let’s consider the simplest way, how to make an antenna for a TV outside the house yourself. The range of its work is within 30 km from the TV tower. You will need here:

  • Two metal tubes approximately 40 cm long and 16 mm in diameter (on average). In the manufacture of such an antenna, it is imperative to observe the homogeneity of each of the two tubes in terms of material, length, wall thickness and diameter.
  • TV cable with the required length plus two meters for connection and sagging.
  • Piece of PCB or getinax.
  • Fasteners for pipes on a flat base (clamps or metal strips).
  • A mast for attaching the antenna structure (can be a pipe, corner or wooden rail).

We proceed to the assembly of the antenna structure. Each of the tubes must be flattened on one side. With these sides, two tubes are placed on a piece of PCB or getinax opposite each other at a distance of 6-7 cm. The area of a piece of material is equal to the required area for reliable fastening of the tubes with clamps. A mast is attached to it.

Since it is possible to make an antenna for a TV, which will work for more than one year, only with the help of a high-quality connection, then the cable is soldered to the tubes. Up to 10 cm of cable insulation is removed, the braid is twisted and soldered to one end. The central core of the cable remains in plastic insulation. The latter is carefully cut to a distance sufficient for secure attachment to the tube, and soldered.

The procedure for making such an antenna ends by attaching cable clamps to the base of the mast, choosing the best receiving location and fixing the antenna. The direction of the antenna can be seen from the neighbors.

Antenna from cans

Such an antenna will not constantly and reliably receive a signal, but it is quite possible to use it as a temporary measure. Beer cans work best. Now we will analyze in detail how to make an antenna for a TV from cans.

To make this antenna, you need to prepare the following:

  • Two tin cans.
  • Conventional TV cable at least 5 m long.
  • Plug.
  • Self-tapping screws.
  • A mop or similar base for attaching cans.
  • Insulating tape, pliers, screwdriver and knife.

After preparing the materials, we proceed directly to the manufacture of the antenna:

  • One end of the cable is stripped and a plug is connected to it.
  • At the second end, 10 cm are measured and the insulation is cut.
  • The braid is neatly detached and woven into a cord.
  • Next, you need to remove the plastic layer 1 cm long, which insulates the central core of the cable.
  • In each of the two cans, one screw is screwed into the center of the lid or the bottom of the can.
  • A cable rod is attached to one of the screws, and a braided cord to the other. The screws tighten and clamp the fasteners on the cans.
  • With the help of electrical tape, the cans are fixed on the mop, located on the sides on its horizontal bar. It is also possible to use a wooden hanger, which hangs in every house.
  • The cable must also be attached to the vertical base of the squeegee.
  • The plug is inserted into the TV.
  • The last step will be to determine the best place for receiving the antenna and fix it in this place.

There are various instructions on how to make an antenna for a TV from four or more cans, but a clear improvement in the image due to the number of cans was not observed.

Zigzag antenna with screen installation

If, after making a zigzag antenna, it was not possible to achieve a good signal, it can be improved with a screen. It is installed just behind the antenna and away from the TV. In its capacity, you can use ordinary kitchen foil, fixed on a plate, the size of an antenna.

Also, this type of antenna can be equipped with additional sections of rhombuses on the sides. It is important to respect the size of their sides and perform in an even number.

Antenna on the balcony

This is the next most affordable way to amplify the signal, but now with a balcony. In this case, the TV is connected to the strings for drying clothes on the balcony. With such an installation, usually the signal not only adds quality, but also new channels may appear.

Receiving a digital signal with an antenna

Since the beginning of the XXI century, digital broadcasting has received great development. This signal provides high image quality, eliminating many of the disadvantages of outdated analog television. But not every antenna is capable of receiving this signal. Therefore, before making an antenna for a TV, you need to decide on the type of signal received: analog or digital. On the basis of existing factory antennas, self-made ones were invented, which cope with their task no worse. Now let’s figure out the type of antenna that is best suited for receiving a digital signal:

  • For the simplest and most convenient way to receive a signal, you can make an antenna for a TV both from wire and using a TV cable, cleaning the braided insulation and leaving only the central core. To connect, the wire is inserted into the TV socket and directed towards the repeater. It is also better to use the wire naked. But you should not expect a stable and high-quality image even if it is slightly removed from the signal transmission site. Small amounts of noise will significantly affect the picture on the TV.
  • The DVB-T2 format, which is used to broadcast a digital signal, is capable of high-quality reception of an ordinary indoor antenna. But provided that the repeater is located at a distance of no more than 10 km from the receiving point.

How to make an antenna for a TV with your own hands?

Since the last century, humanity has begun to develop rapidly in technological areas, including in the means of communication. The transmission of information via the Internet, radio broadcasting and television today occupies a leading position in the ways of public interaction. But for many, television remains the simplest, most accessible and interesting means of obtaining information. Therefore, ensuring high-quality and stable images on TV screens remains an urgent issue. To solve it, you can contact the points of sale of household appliances, where a huge number of models of antennas of various types are offered. Or you can make it yourself using the instructions in this article on how to make an antenna for a TV with your own hands.

Varieties of antennas

Antennas are of various types and shapes. Below are the main types of antennas:

  • receiving “wave channel”;
  • “traveling wave” reception;
  • in the form of frames;
  • zigzag;
  • log-periodic;
  • lattice.

Idea. Beer cans in use!

This version of a homemade television antenna is the simplest and fastest to manufacture. The maximum number of channels that you can catch is 7, but this figure can vary significantly depending on the region, terrain features and the distance to the TV tower.

To make an antenna for a TV from beer cans, you will need the following materials:

  • 2 small screws, also called “bugs” (not needed if you have a soldering iron);
  • 2 prepared beer cans (empty, washed and dried);
  • from 3 to 5 meters of television cable (can be taken from a failed device);
  • soldering iron and tin (for better fixing of contacts), the presence is optional;
  • electric screwdriver;
  • wooden trempel (hanger);
  • electrical tape or tape.

It will not be a problem to find all the materials in the house, so having prepared them, we immediately get down to business.

In order to make a homemade antenna from cans, you need to follow these steps:

  • We are preparing the cable. First, make a shallow circular cut at a distance of 10 cm from the edge and remove the top layer of insulation. Having opened access to the screen, we fold it into one bundle. After that, we cut off the middle insulating layer, exposing the copper core of the cable by a few cm.A regular antenna plug should be at the second end of the wire.
  • We prepare banks. With capacities that act as a signal receiver, there will also be no difficulties. First you need to find the optimal size of the beer cans. It is better to use liter, but if there are none, containers with a volume of 0.5 and 0.75 liters will do a good job.
  • We summarize contacts. At this stage, the twisted cable shield is fixed to one bank, and the copper core itself to the other. Fixation is carried out with bedbugs using an electric screwdriver or a conventional screwdriver. However, it is recommended to fix the wire not with bugs, but with a soldering iron. The result should look like this:
  • Putting together a homemade TV antenna. The signal receiver is ready, now we are making a supporting structure, which we use is a trempel or an ordinary hanger. In no case should it be made of wire or metal. Using electrical tape, we fix the containers to the trempel (as shown in the photo). We draw your attention to the fact that banks must be strictly on the same straight line, otherwise the homemade product will not work and steadily catch the signal.
  • We set up the antenna for the TV. Now you need to experiment with the optimal distance between the banks, as well as the place of suspension of the device and its position, so that the homemade product catches many channels. We turn on the TV and determine exactly how the receivers should be located and where is the most suitable place for their work. This completes the technology of creating the device.

As you can see, the whole process is quite simple and does not represent anything complicated. The optimal distance is 75 mm between the ends of the cans, and the best installation location is near a window or on an outrigger mast. In individual cases, the distance between banks can be made larger or smaller.

Idea. We use wire

Another equally good option that is advisable to use in the village is a homemade copper wire antenna with an amplifier.

All you need for manufacturing is:

So, in order to make a copper wire antenna for a TV yourself, you need to follow these steps:

  • We prepare the trap: we bend the wire with a diamond so that all sides are strictly 45 cm. this is the optimal size of the receiving part, while the figure should be closed, for this the ends of the bar must be welded together, or soldered with a powerful soldering iron.
  • We fix the wire to the prepared plank: we drill holes and tighten the bolts for secure fastening. Immediately you need to connect the amplifier. It has two large pads and contacts for connecting a coaxial cable. To large sites, you need to connect different antenna arms in the center using screws. Try to ensure high-quality contact, so it is recommended to clean the surfaces, you can even tin.
  • We connect the cable. Everything is simple here, tk. you just need to tighten a couple of screws on the amplifier and insert the plug into the connector.
  • We create a mast, for which we use a metal pipe of a suitable height. We dig it in and the homemade antenna for the TV is ready, you can start tuning channels.

Pay attention. in the photo examples, both the amplifier, and the reflector, and the wire are covered with paint. Painting protects the structure from corrosion and other adverse factors, significantly extending the life of a homemade TV antenna.

Idea. Home HDTV Device

Although there are instructions for making a homemade transformer on the network, you can find and use it, this will significantly increase your skills in assembling homemade antennas.

From the materials you will need:

  • Scotch
  • Cardboard
  • Stationery knife
  • Foil
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Roulette
  • Glue (pencil or PVA)

Having prepared this whole school set, let’s get down to business.!

First, you need to sketch (or print on a computer) this diagram:

Homemade HDTV Antenna DIY (watch free TV)

Now, according to the scheme, we cut out all the parts, including the necessary pieces of foil:

Next, we glue the cardboard butterfly with foil and, if desired, paint over the back with a marker for aesthetics.

After that, you need to make a reflector with dimensions of 3532.5 cm (height and width). We glue one of the sides with foil.

In the middle, we cut out two identical rectangles, which are necessary in order to completely assemble the signal trap for a homemade antenna for the TV. The rectangle should be 3.5 cm long, its purpose is to maintain the distance between the reflector and auxiliary parts.

We glue the parts on a rectangle, and when the glue sets, we drill holes for the TV cable.

We connect the transformer and cable using twists, scotch tape or a soldering iron. powerful TV antenna is ready to use! It should also be noted that this homemade option is suitable only for indoor use, because the paper will get wet quickly from outdoor use.

Another option for a powerful home-made device:

Idea. Apartment option

There is another way to make a powerful antenna for a TV from improvised means, which is suitable for both street and apartment use.

To manufacture the device, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • 4-meter copper wire with a cross section of 4 mm square;
  • board of any thickness, 55 cm long and 7 cm wide;
  • self-tapping screws for wood;
  • ruler or tape measure;
  • simple pencil;
  • electric screwdriver;
  • soldering iron;
  • antenna plug.

So, first, we transfer the drawing to the workpiece and drill holes in the board:

Then we transfer the drawing data to the board and drill it in the appropriate attachment points.

Next, the copper wire must be straightened and cut into 8 equal pieces of 37.5 cm.

The insulation must be removed in the middle of each of the 37.5 cm lines (as shown in the picture). To do this, use a sharp knife, a clerical knife is perfect.

Cut off 2 more pieces of wire 22 cm long and divide them into 3 equal parts, bend them slightly and in these places, again, remove the insulation.

We bend the prepared wire in bare places. We draw your attention to the fact that for those segments that are bent in half, the distance between the ends must be made 7.5 cm (the optimal value for receiving the signal of a homemade television antenna).

Next, we attach the plug to the finished homemade product, and we already connect the TV cable to it.

This completes the manufacturing process. We choose a suitable place and direction, where the signal reception is the best, and install the device.

We have tried to select the simplest instructions. We hope that now you know how to make a home TV antenna with your own hands! We draw your attention to the fact that today on the Internet you can find many other options in which inventors come up with more and more manufacturing options, using, for example, copper and aluminum tubes, disks, electrodes The choice of components for assembly is usually determined only by their availability, so do not be afraid to experiment and come up with your own, original manufacturing methods.

Beer can antenna

An antenna from beer cans can be made in literally half an hour, using the funds at your fingertips. Of course, such an antenna will not provide a super-stable signal, but for temporary use in a country house or in a rented apartment it will do quite well.

  • Two aluminum cans for beer or other drink.
  • Five meters of television cable.
  • Plug.
  • Two screws.
  • A wooden or plastic base on which the cans will be attached (many use a wooden hanger or mop).
  • Knife, pliers, screwdriver, electrical tape.

After making sure that you have all of the above items in stock, do the following:

  • Strip one end of the cable and attach the plug to it.
  • Take the other end of the cable and strip the insulation 10 centimeters long.
  • Unbraid the braid and twist it into a cord.
  • Peel off the plastic layer of the cable insulating rod one centimeter.
  • Take the cans and twist the screws in them in the center of the bottom or lid.
  • Attach a rod to one can, and a cable sheathing cord to the other by screwing them onto the screws.
  • Attach the cans to the base with electrical tape.
  • Fasten the cable to the base.
  • Insert the plug into the TV.
  • As you move around the room, determine the place of the best signal reception and fix the antenna there.

There are other variations of this antenna, with four or even eight cans, but no clear effect of the number of cans on signal quality was found. You can also learn how to make an antenna out of beer cans from the video:

Using wire

Simple designs include wire products. For the construction of this type of antenna, copper or brass wire is ideal. This material is highly resistant to oxidation. The construction of an antenna from a similar material is carried out in several ways.

  • copper wire is stripped of insulation;
  • one end connects to the TV;
  • the other end to a metal piece in the room;
  • from this metal object, a pipe is output to the roof, which will serve as a reception amplifier.

Thus, the antenna is ready for use, you only need to tune the channels. If you are making this structure in an apartment, then the end that will catch the signal can be attached, for example, to a metal clothes dryer, it is on almost every balcony.

Another design method can be used, but it is considered complicated.

  • several pieces of copper wire, with a cross section of 3-4 millimeters and a length of 2 meters, each;
  • wooden or metal plate 15×15 centimeters;
  • signal amplifier;
  • electric drill;
  • antenna cable;
  • pipe (can be replaced with fittings);
  • bolts.

A similar design is made in this way:

  • 2 rhombuses are bent from the cut parts of the wire (their sides should not be less than fifty centimeters);
  • the manufactured rhombuses are fixed on the base;
  • an amplifier is connected;
  • an antenna cable is connected to the amplifier;
  • the plug is attached;
  • we connect the finished structure to the TV and set up the reception.

It is better to use a metal pipe as a base. It can be dug into the ground and installed on top of the antenna. To protect against natural influences, it is recommended to cover the product with paints and varnishes.

You can make a wire structure in this way:

  • a frame 50 centimeters long and 20 centimeters wide is designed;
  • the structure is scrolled so that the result is rhombuses;
  • the product is cut with nippers and a cable is attached to one piece;
  • a plug is attached to the other end of the cable;
  • fix the structure to the dielectric base.

If the product is to be installed outside the house, for example, on a balcony or outdoors, it is recommended to take a wire with a cross section of at least 4 mm as a material. When the antenna is planned to be installed in a room, then a material with a thickness of 2 mm is suitable.

How to make an antenna with your own hands for a TV: simple designs

For those who do not want to understand in detail the intricacies of the theory of radio wave propagation, it is enough to study the instructions in this section. Here’s how to make a do-it-yourself antenna for a TV without wasting time and money. These projects have been tested in practice. Therefore, to obtain a positive result, you only need to repeat the sequence of working steps.

Antennas for receiving digital television

  • Indoor antenna. suitable for receiving a signal in the DVB-T2 format only at a distance of up to 10 kilometers from the repeater. In principle, at this distance, the signal can be received even by an ordinary bare wire inserted into the antenna connector of the TV and directed in the right direction, but for a more stable and stable signal, it is better to use a room antenna.
  • Antenna of the “Crow” type. capable of receiving a digital signal at a distance of up to 30 kilometers. This type of antenna is installed outside the home and does not require a clear direction to the repeater. But in cases where the distance from the signal source is more than 30 kilometers or there are interference generators nearby, it is advisable to direct the antenna to the TV tower.
  • Antenna type DIPOL 19 / 21-69. receives a signal at a distance of up to 50 kilometers. Requires installation at a height of 8-10 meters and a clear direction to the signal source. In conjunction with an amplifier, it is capable of receiving a digital signal at a distance of up to 80-100 kilometers. The excellent characteristics of this antenna make it one of the best options for receiving a signal in DVB-T2 format at a remote distance from the repeater.

If you live not far from the TV tower, then you can easily make the simplest antenna for receiving a signal in DVB-T2 format with your own hands:

  • Measure from the connector 15 centimeters of the antenna cable.
  • Peel off 13 centimeters of outer insulation and braid from the cut edge, leave only the copper rod.
  • Referring to the picture of the TV, set the rod in the desired direction.

All antenna is ready! It should be noted that such a primitive antenna is not capable of providing a high-quality and stable signal at a distance from the TV tower and in places with sources of interference.

We use beer cans

The lightest and simplest version of the passive type is considered to be a device made of cans. It is possible to make such a receiver of electromagnetic signals without special skills. This type perfectly picks up decimeter signals and converts them into TV broadcast.

  • antenna cable (calculate how long you need);
  • several beer cans;
  • several screws or bolts;
  • plug for connecting the product to TV;
  • duct tape or electrical tape;
  • base for fixing cans.

After collecting all the necessary material, we will tell you how to make an antenna with your own hands, observing the sequence, you get a high-quality device.

  • we fix on the selected base, cans (for this, use adhesive tape or insulating tape);
  • we clean both ends of the cable;
  • one cleaned side is divided into a screen and a core;
  • the core is attached to one jar, and the screen to another;
  • we install a plug on the other end of the cable;
  • we stick it into the antenna connector, which is located on the TV, and we get the desired result.

You can install such an easy-to-manufacture structure on the street or in a room. But if the antenna is located in an open area, banks must be protected from the influence of external weather factors. For this purpose, plastic containers are used, which must be cut and put on top. Before you start using the product, you need to connect the product to TV, select automatic channel search in the settings.

Conclusions and recommendations

Not only copying ready-made solutions, but also with an accurate calculation, it is not difficult to make an effective TV antenna with your own hands. Certain difficulties will arise if active signal amplification is required. But before that, it makes sense to experiment with passive antennas.

If you correctly apply the information from this article, then a self-made device will have better parameters than serial equipment

Similar to a satellite dish

You can also make this option like a satellite signal receiver.

  • old umbrella;
  • foil made of aluminum;
  • copper cable;
  • tin can;
  • powered amplifier.

Now we will tell you how to make this TV antenna with your own hands.

How to Build a TV Antenna Easy

  • measure the distance between the knitting needles of the old umbrella;
  • after measurements, cut out the desired size of the foil, and insert it into the gaps;
  • we sew all the inserts;
  • we install a signal receiver in the umbrella body, for this you need to remove five centimeters of insulation from the cable and fix the cleaned edge on the body;
  • cut out an oval from the container, and make a hole in the middle;
  • push in a bare copper piece of wire and solder it to the oval;
  • to protect against corrosion and natural influences, the soldering points should be closed; plasticine can be used for this purpose;
  • we connect the amplifier and the power supplied by the unit to the receiver;
  • we carry out automatic channel tuning.

To adjust the image quality, it is necessary to turn the structure in different directions. A better image on a TV can be achieved only if the TV broadcast tower is located at a distance of no more than 35 kilometers from the site.

The second “life” of beer cans

Figure Description of actions
The main components are well-known aluminum containers. It is better to choose containers with a capacity of 0.75 to 1 liter. They need to be washed and dried.
You will also need the following components: a wooden clothes hanger (not necessarily new); soldering iron, rosin and solder; 4 meters of TV standard cable; some scotch tape, sandpaper.
The cable should be cut at a distance of about 10 cm from the edge. Gently peel off the insulation, top layer. The braid is twisted as shown in the figure. At the end, the central vein is released.
The braid and the center conductor are soldered. Check the strength of the connection. If the varnish-and-paint layer interferes, it is removed with sandpaper.
At first, the cans are not firmly fixed on the base, with a fabric tape. By shifting them, you can get the best gain experimentally.

Note! Hereinafter, one must take into account the location of the nearest tower. In this case, the central axis of the cans is set perpendicular to the direction to the signal transmitter. After a good “picture” is obtained, the optimal positions are rigidly fixed with tape.

How to make an antenna with your own hands for a TV

Only in portable TV models there are built-in devices that provide the necessary conversion of electromagnetic waves of terrestrial TV. The received signals are amplified and processed. Based on this data, the final image is formed. But in stationary receivers, this possibility is not provided. Therefore, knowledge of how to make an antenna with your own hands for a TV can be useful. This article presents designs that anyone can reproduce without any extra effort. When choosing them, products assembled from the simplest component parts were considered preferable.

Such a complex structure can be easily replaced with a high-quality homemade product.

Solving Long Range Reception Problems

If “passive” methods are not enough, the technology of creating an antenna amplifier with your own hands will come in handy. In this case, the materials at hand will not be enough. You will have to purchase electronic components, master the technique of manufacturing a printed circuit board.

Useful information! You can make inductors yourself. Any frame (2mm diameter cylinder) will do. For winding, use a lacquered copper wire (0.5 mm).

Wire and board

Figure Sequence of working steps
This example uses a factory made adapter. It is equipped with a plug for the TV antenna. There are screw clamps for securing parts of the antenna. But instead of this device, you can create the necessary connections using a soldering iron and solder.
From a suitable cut of the board (plywood, chipboard, plastic) create such a base.
Eight blanks are cut from copper wire in polymer insulation (conductor diameter 4 mm). They should be 15 inches (38 cm) long.
In the central part of each part, the insulation is removed (approximately 1.5 cm). This working step is carried out carefully so as not to damage the copper core.
The following elements are created from two pieces of wire (22 cm). Insulation is removed in the middle and at the ends. Pliers bend the hooks.
Collect the blanks in the following design. The tips of the “mustache” are pushed apart so that the distance between them is exactly 7.5 cm.

A simple DIY antenna for digital TV with an accurate calculation

To figure out how to make antennas with your own hands for a TV without errors, you need to specify the conditions of the problem. If we consider the Moscow region, then digital broadcasting is carried out on two carrier frequencies. For calculations, we use one value, 546 MHz.

The active parts of the antennas are made from conductors. Their dimensions must correspond to the wavelength (WL). If you use a square, then each side must be equal to ¼ DV.

To connect the receiver, you need to use only a special TV cable. It differs from standard power supply conductors and others in the exact value of the characteristic impedance, 75 ohms. The input channels of the technique are tuned to it. If you use other cable products, the parameters of the input signal will be worse.

In order not to complicate the design, we use a simple shape, a ring. Its dimensions are calculated using a simple formula.

  • DR. frame length in cm;
  • ChS. the frequency of the carrier signal in MHz.

In our case, we get: (300/546) 100 = 55 cm (rounded value).

Figure Action
Any box made of non-conductive material is suitable for the base. Its dimensions must be sufficient so that the structure maintains balance under the load of the frame. A box was used for the connecting pad. Plastic walls are suitable for cutouts and rigid fixation of the cable in them.
After assembly, the next product is obtained. It must be installed at a distance from the receiving path of the TV in order to exclude the influence of parasitic pickups.
For decoration, you can attach a photo frame. Remember to use only dielectric materials.
The gain of this simple homemade TV antenna is increased using this solution.
To ensure compactness, the original frame length is reduced by 4 times (up to 13.7 cm). The use of two rings helps to narrow the radiation pattern, so such a device is able to provide signal reception when the tower is removed from the TV at a distance of 20 km and even more.

Please note that the center vein of the frame segment is not used at all. A stripped TV cable is connected to the braid. The twist is hardened by soldering.

Why do you need a homemade antenna for digital television

Oddly enough, but some “handicraft” designs in their parameters are in no way inferior to factory products. over, some of them provide excellent gain, good frequency selectivity and other better technical characteristics. Basic theoretical knowledge will help you make fine tuning in accordance with the special conditions at the place of signal reception.

The TV in the car can also be connected to a homemade antenna
