You can check the status of your home hub as if it is connected, an in-house app on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or Mac.

• On your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch: Click in the upper left corner. If you have multiple homes set up, tap Home Settings, then tap Home. Look under home hubs to see if your home hub is connected.
• On a Mac: Go to edit edit at home. Then look at home hubs to see if your home hub is connected. To check the status of home hubs in another home that the app has created in the home, tap the houses in the upper left corner, then tap the Home button.

To check if your Apple TV is set up as a home hub, go to Settings on your Apple TV, then click on the AirPlay number and make sure you assign your Apple TV to the number in the Home app.

If you have multiple hubs setting up, the primary home page will show up as connected. Other hubs will be displayed in standby as their status and will take over remote access if the main hub is turned off.

How to find apps on Apple TV

To find apps, start by launching the App Store app on the Apple TV home screen. Once the App Store is open, there are four ways to find apps:

• Selected applications. If you’ve used the App Store on iPhone or iTunes, the layout of that App Store will be familiar to you. The home screen contains a series of popular apps at the top, followed by collections of recently released apps, popular and top-selling apps, and apps Apple has chosen to promote. Use the remote to navigate this screen until you find the app you want to install.
• Top Charts: Select the Top Charts category from the menu at the top of the screen (if not visible, swipe up on the touchpad on the remote control). Once you have done that, you will be able to browse the apps in ways like most downloaded, best selling, biggest, etc.
• Categories. Another menu option at the top of the screen. You can browse apps by categories like Games, Education, Lifestyle and News.
• Search. The last option on the top-level menu. Select it and use the on-screen keyboard to enter the name or type of app you are looking for.

How to install apps on Apple TV

Once you find the application you are interested in, follow these steps to install it.

• Highlight an app and press the touchpad to view a detailed app screen.
• This screen displays the Install button in free apps; paid apps display their price. Highlight the button and press the touchpad to begin installation.
• You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password. If so, use the remote and on-screen keyboard for this.
• An icon appears on the button to show the progress of the installation.
• After downloading and installing the application, the button label changes to Open. Either select it to start using the app, or go to the Apple TV home screen. There you will find an application ready to use.

How to make Apple TV apps load faster

The process of installing apps on Apple TV is pretty quick and fairly straightforward, except for one thing: entering your Apple ID password.

This step can be really annoying because using the Apple TV onscreen keyboard is cumbersome and slow. Although you can enter your password by voice or using the on-screen keyboard in the Remote app, you can skip this step entirely.

There is a setting that allows you to control how often you have to enter your password when downloading applications. You can even set it to skip your password. To use this:

• Launch the Settings app on Apple TV.
• Select Accounts.
• Select Password Settings.
• On the In-App Purchases & Purchases screen, select Require Password.
• On the next screen, select Never. and you will never again be asked to enter your Apple ID for any purchase.

You can also stop entering your free download password by following the first three steps above and then:

• On the In-App Purchases and Purchases screen, select Free Downloads and set it to None.

After that, your Apple ID password is never required to install free apps, only paid apps.

Can you install apps on Apple TV?

Apple TV is an awesome device for streaming TV, movies, and music. whether it’s Apple Music or another streaming platform. from the Internet to your TV. It even comes with a bunch of apps pre-installed to get you started right away.

But what if you want to add additional features or functionality to your Apple TV? What happens if your favorite video streaming service isn’t installed on your Apple TV, or if you want to play a game? Can you download Apple TV apps from the App Store like you do with an iPhone?

Answer: it depends on what model you have.

Installing Apps on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Generation Apple TV: No

Unlike newer models, users cannot add their own apps to 3rd, 2nd, or 1st generation Apple TV models (except in one case, as we’ll see). This is because 3rd generation Apple TVs and earlier do not have an App Store for third-party apps. But this does not mean that new applications are not being added.

While users cannot add Apple TV to these Apple TV models on their own, Apple adds them from time to time. When Apple TV debuted, it had less than a dozen channels of internet content. By the time Apple discontinued these models, there were dozens of them.

Apple no longer supports 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation Apple TVs, so new channels are no longer being added to those models. Upgrade to one of the newer Apple TVs for the latest apps and most options.

There were no warnings at all when new channels appeared, and users had no control over whether they were installed or not. When you turn on your Apple TV, you’ll find that a new icon has appeared on the home screen, and you now have new content available. For example, the WWE Network wrestling streaming service just hit Apple TV screens without prior warning when it launched in February 2014.

Apple occasionally shipped new apps with Apple TV software updates, but new channels often debuted as soon as they became available.

Install Apps on 4th and 5th Generation Apple TV: Yes

If you have a 4th generation Apple TV. introduced by Apple in September 2015, or Apple TV 4K. that is, the 5th generation model that debuted in September 2017, you can load Apple TV apps into it.

These versions of Apple TV are built around an idea that Tim Cook said represents the 4th generation. model, applications are the future of television.

Installing applications on the 4th or 5th generation. Apple TV is similar and easy to install on an iPhone or iPad. The operating system running on Apple TV, called tvOS, is slightly different from iOS, so the steps for installing apps on it are slightly different as well. As with iPhone and iPad, you can reload apps on Apple TV too. Go to the App Store app on your Apple TV, select the Purchased menu and select Not On This Apple TV to see a list of apps you can download again.

Jailbreak to install Apple TV apps

Not everyone is happy with the idea that Apple is in control of what’s on their Apple TV. These people often turn to jailbreak. Jailbreaking allows users to modify the Apple TV operating system to remove Apple restrictions and allow them to make their own changes, including installing software.

Hacking a jailbreak can be a complex process that requires some technical understanding. It can also cause problems with the device you are trying to change, sometimes even leaving it unusable. So, if you’re planning to jailbreak your Apple TV, make sure you have the necessary skills to get the job done (don’t say you weren’t warned!).

If you’ve decided to jailbreak your Apple TV, you can choose from the following options:

When this is done, you can install new tools like Plex or XMBC. which give you access to streaming content that Apple doesn’t have. You won’t be able to install any app you want. you can only use those that are compatible with Apple TV, but some are better than none.

To jailbreak Apple TV, the jailbreak community needs to release software for the version of tvOS you are using. Not every version of tvOS can be jailbroken. A good rule of thumb is that the older the version, the more likely the jailbreak will be available.
