How To Install iOS 12 On An Old iPad

Apple has just released the final version of iOS 12 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Below we will tell you how to install the update on your device.

Ios 12 will support the same devices as iOS 11. This means that even the iPhone 5s, released in 2013, will also support iOS 12.

Warning for of users from jailbreak

If new features and improvements are more important than jailbreak for you, it’s better to update via iTunes.

Save backup

Step 1: Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC and open iTunes.

Step 2: In the top menu of iTunes, click on the icon of your iPhone or iPad.

Step 3: Click Create a copy now. If you want an additional level of security, check the box next to Encrypt backup. This will save sensitive data such as passwords, Health app data, HomeKit accessory information, and logins. By choosing this option, you will ease your task during recovery. This copy is protected by a password that can be stored in Keychain.

Step 4: Now you need to make an archive from the copy. In the program menu, select Device settings.

Step 5: In the tab Devices right click on the saved copy and select Archive.

How to install iOS 12 through Settings

Before downloading, connect your device to a power source so that the battery does not run out during the process. The update installation process may take from several minutes to an hour, depending on your Internet connection. Downloading the update is only via Wi-Fi, not mobile Internet.

Step 1: Open Settings and go to General Software Update. There should be an iOS 12 update available.

Note: If in the future you want to be able to install jailbreak, it is better to update via iTunes, because there are often problems with updates “over the air”.

Step 2: Click Download and install, to start the installation process of iOS 12 on your iPhone or iPad.

How to install iOS 12 through iTunes

If the iOS 12 update does not appear in Settings, you can download it via a direct link, and then install via iTunes. It’s better to use the latest available version of iTunes.

Step 1: Connect your iOS device to your computer using a USB cable. Wait for iTunes to detect your device.
