How To Disassemble A Sony Column

Models: NSX-AV65, AV66, AV75

Defect manifestation: loud noise in the center channel during Dolby Pro-Logic operation. When you adjust the volume, the noise level changes. Remedy: Short-circuit pins 24 and 25 of IC501; Cut a track between pin 24 of IC501 and the anode pin of C702; Remove capacitor C701; Remove the jumper between pin 27 of IC501 and resistor R551; Connect pin 27 of IC501 and the anode of capacitor C702 with a wire. Wire the lead of resistor R551, which was previously connected to pin 27 of IC501, to the track where the cathode of capacitor C701 was soldered.

Radio tuner

A radio tuner is an electronic device designed to receive signals that come from terrestrial radio stations.

Modern music centers can be equipped with both digital and analog radio tuners. All of them perform the same task. They provide high-quality reception of radio programs in various audio frequency ranges (FM, AM, MW and LW), however, digital tuners have a number of advantages over analog ones. Among which:

  • Realization of better signal reception.
  • accurate frequency adjustment, making it easier to find the desired radio station using manual mode.
  • Fixing custom settings.
  • Ability to save settings for more than a dozen radio stations.
  • Reproduction of stereo sound on FM and AM frequencies.
  • Support for the Radio Data System (RDS) service providing listeners with the ability to receive messages that are broadcast by most FM stations (in parallel with the main signal).

Digital Sound Processor provides complex audio signal processing.

The sound processor is used to process the sound based on the required frequency, the number of bands, and the sound atmosphere of the room used as the installation location of the audio system.

Earlier, the sound processor was an element that was mounted only in expensive models of musical centers, but now it is used in almost any centers.

Replacing the UMCHZ microcircuit, for example, STK 403-070

Before proceeding with the dismantling of the microcircuit, we will do the following:

  1. We mark (mark) all loops and connectors connecting various units of the device. In order not to get confused during assembly after repair.
  2. Disconnect all marked cables and connectors, as well as fasteners (screws).
  3. We take out the amplifier board and put it on the desktop.
  4. We examine the board and find the required microcircuit.

After the microcircuit has been removed, we do the following:

  1. We clean the pad from the solder left after the microcircuit is soldered, for this you can use a copper braid.
  2. We take a new microcircuit.
  3. We insert with contacts down to the same place.
  4. We spread it with flux, take the solder, put the soldering station in the “Soldering iron” mode.
  5. Soldering the microcircuit.
  6. We carry out testing after repair (we connect all loops and turn on in all operating modes).

Noise and crackling is heard from the speaker, or it does not work at all

These malfunctions can be caused by a broken coil winding or touching the coil winding of the speaker magnet system. However, before disassembling the speakers, you should check the performance of the speakers of the music center by connecting other speakers (as described in the methodology and perform other steps).

If no defects (problems with microcircuits) were detected during the inspection of the path, and the malfunctions disappeared, then it is necessary to repair the speakers. For this:

Gently peel off the speaker from the speaker case.

Before you start rewinding the coil, you need to disassemble the speaker. For this:

    Take a flat-head screwdriver (end).

The process of disassembling the speaker is over and now you can start rewinding the coil.

  1. We inspect the coil (can be painted with black paint).
  2. For the convenience of rewinding, we insert a large capacitor into it into the coil, preferably according to the diameter of the sleeve (if the capacity is less, then we wrap it with molar tape until the diameters coincide).
  3. We take a small table vise and fix the diffuser to the condenser.
  4. We are looking for the end of the winding wire and bite it.
  5. Slightly unscrew and mark the side in which the wire goes from the output.
  6. We unwind the coil. In this case, you can not count the number of turns.
  7. For the second wire, we also mark the winding direction (from the output).
  8. We take coils with copper wire (cross-sectional diameter can be 0.2-0.4 mm).
  9. We select the wire (visually compare the diameters of the wire removed from the coil and the selected one).
  10. If the cross-section of the selected wire is larger, then we wind more wire accordingly.
  11. We take a brush and slightly clean the surface of the sleeve (base of the coil) from paint.
  12. We clean up the conclusions and tin them.
  13. We clean, tin and solder the wire to the output of the lower coil.
  14. We take glue and grease the surface of the sleeve a little.
  15. Slowly and with a slight stretch we wind it on a reel. We make sure that the winding is neat and even.
  16. Apply an additional layer of glue and let it dry (in order to avoid the failure of the turns).
  17. We perform similar actions with the second wire.
  18. Apply the glue to the coil again and spread it evenly.
  19. We strip the wire again and solder it to the terminal.

Electronic decoder

Used to convert information recorded on digital tracks on a disc into multi-channel audio. In the event that the latest models of decoders are installed in the music center, it is possible to increase the format of the audio system and improve the quality of its sound.
