connect, Airpods, ipad

Want to pair other people’s Airpods with your iPhone or iPad? Or do you want to connect your Airpods for use on another iPhone or iPad? You can easily do either by offering an easy way to try the Airpods yourself, or let someone else try the Airpods themselves, or even just use the Airpods on another iPhone or iPad that you don’t own.

It also offers a way to link one set of Airpods to multiple devices that do not use the same Apple ID, as if the devices were using the same Apple ID, then switching Airpods between them in this way is not required and is smooth instead.

We’re focusing on Airpods here, but the procedure is the same for Airpods Pro. If you have previously had Airpods or Airpods Pro paired installed, you follow a similar process to accomplish this, with a few minor differences.

How to connect Airpods to someone else’s iPhone or iPad

Remember, this is aimed at connecting and pairing Airpods with another device, not your own device. This is how it works:

  • Unlock the iPhone or iPad to which you want to connect Airpods.
  • Open the Airpods case in close proximity to another iPhone or iPad.
  • You will see a pop-up on the screen with the message “Not your Airpods” stating that Airpods are not connected to this device, select “Connect” to sync and pair Airpods anyway.

Now, following the prompts on the screen, press and hold the button on the back of the Airpods case.

That’s it, you can now use Airpods or Airpods Pro on another iPhone or iPad, even if it’s not yours.

Remember, this is aimed at using Airpods with another iPhone or iPad that doesn’t use the same Apple ID as someone else’s iPhone.

If you are using another of your devices with the same Apple ID, this process is not necessary because your own devices can easily select and switch Airpods among themselves. This even applies to Macs (although you can also use Airpods with Macs directly, syncing them to any other Bluetooth headphones, as long as you don’t use the same Apple ID or don’t use iCloud at all).

This is how you connect to someone else’s Airpods from an iPhone, or let someone else’s iPhone connect to your Airpods, or whatever. It’s pretty simple and you can easily switch between them as you see fit.
