To change your Apple ID password, follow these steps:

On an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 10.3 or later

  1. Click the Settings menu [your name] “Password and safety”.
  2. Click “Change Password.”

  3. Enter your current password or password for the device, then a new password and confirmation of the new password.
  4. Touch “Change” or “Change Password”.
  5. Sign in with your new Apple ID password to access Apple features and services.

On a Mac with macOS Catalina

  1. Select Apple menu  System Preferences, then click Apple ID.
  2. Click Password and Security.
  3. Click Change Password. Before resetting your Apple ID password, you’ll need to enter the password that is used to unlock your Mac.

On a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier

  1. Go to the Apple menu  System Preferences, then click iCloud.
  2. Select “Account”.
  3. Select Security “Reset the password”. Before resetting your Apple ID password, you’ll need to enter the password that is used to unlock your Mac.

On the website

  1. Log in to your Apple ID account.
  2. In the Security section, click Change Password.
  3. Enter the current password, new password and confirmation of the new password.
  4. Click Change Password.
  5. Sign in with your new Apple ID password to access Apple features and services.

If you forgot your password

If you cannot remember your Apple ID password, follow these steps to reset it. After resetting the password, you must re-enter the Apple ID and password in all services used.

Your Apple ID is the account used to access Apple services, such as the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and others.

When creating a new password, consider the following:

  • The new Apple ID password cannot contain less than eight characters, and it must contain at least one number, one uppercase and one lowercase letter.
  • You cannot use spaces, the same character three times in a row, the Apple ID or password that was used last year.

FaceTime is not available in all countries and regions.
