How Samsung s10 differs from s10e

Battery

Of the entire new line of flagships, the most capacious battery is installed in the Galaxy S10. 4100 mAh, the S10 uses a 3400 mAh battery, and the S10e. 3100 mAh. At the same time, given the same platform and different diagonals, the autonomy of the models should not be very different, but we can check this already while writing full-fledged reviews.

Cameras

Galaxy S10 and S10 use a system of three main cameras with optical stabilization, which at the same time differ in characteristics and purpose. The main module received a wide-angle 12-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 1.5, an additional one has the same resolution, but an aperture of f / 2.4 and a telephoto lens. Together they can be used to create portrait shots with a blurred background. But the third camera in the Galaxy S10 and S10 is a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle (123 degrees) with a fixed focus and aperture of f / 2.2.

samsung, differs, s10e

The Galaxy S10e is slightly inferior to older models in terms of photo shooting capabilities, since the smartphone is devoid of a telephoto camera. However, the device received exactly the same main and ultra-wide-angle module, so the image quality here is in no way inferior to more expensive models. Although, of course, a telephoto camera sometimes comes in handy, but not for everyone, its absence will be a disadvantage.

All three models use an intelligent shooting mode that works on the basis of machine learning and is able to recognize objects in 30 shooting conditions. It turns out such a more advanced automatic mode.

As you can see from the characteristics of the wide-angle and telephoto cameras, they are the same as in the S9 and Note9, and Samsung does not specify whether the sensor size has changed (in previous models it was 1 / 2.55 ″ in the wide-angle and 1 / 3.4 ″ in the telephoto camera) Apparently, as in the transition from Galaxy S7 to S8, in the “tenth” series the company only revised the main camera modules. All new to the Galaxy S lineup is the 16MP 123-degree ultra wide-angle camera that the S10 and S10 have.

I was able to take some pictures after the presentation on the Galaxy S10 prototype. This allows us to get a preliminary idea of the quality of shooting in all three new Samsung smartphones, since they use the same camera modules, with the exception of telephoto, which is not in the S10e.

Fingerprint scanner and face unlock

In the Galaxy S10 and S10, the fingerprint scanner is located under the display glass. Samsung used an ultrasonic sensor, which, unlike an optical one, is not afraid of direct sunlight and should work better in cold weather. This made it possible to achieve a very high speed of the scanner, so that the user does not have to hold his finger on the screen longer, as it does on models with an optical sensor.

In the Galaxy S10e, the fingerprint scanner is located on the top right side and is combined with the power button, which is slightly recessed into the body. The location of the scanner is rather unusual, but since the body of the S10e is not very large, it is not difficult to reach it with the index finger of the left hand or the thumb of the right.

Reducing the bezels around the screen forced Samsung to abandon the iris scanner and, accordingly, from the “smart scan” function. In the Galaxy S10, S10 and S10e, in addition to the fingerprint scanner, there is only a face scan function that works through the front camera. Unfortunately, this is a less secure way to unlock your smartphone.

Wireless charger

Samsung’s new smartphones receive support for faster wireless charging, the company claims that it is 36% faster than the previous one.

In addition, the devices now have the ability to wirelessly recharge other devices. To do this, you need to activate the appropriate mode in the settings (you can directly from the notification curtain) and attach the device to the back of the case.

Bixby button

On the left side of the Galaxy S10, S10 and S10e, as in last year’s flagships Samsung, there is a separate key to call the virtual assistant Bixby. But unlike previous models, it can now be assigned to the launch of any other program.

Audio

All three new models received external stereo speakers, one of which is located on the bottom edge, and the second is combined with the spoken ones and is located above the display.

In addition, Samsung has not abandoned the 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is good news.

Design

The Galaxy S10 and S10 have nearly the same design, which is itself an evolution in the look of the Galaxy models released over the past two years. The new smartphones retain the smooth mowing lines and rounded edges of the display, but the important difference is that the bezels around the screen have become thinner. And they managed to realize this without the already bored cutout. Samsung didn’t want to use it for a long time and finally found a solution: new display technologies allow you to make holes in them without affecting the image quality. Accordingly, both the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 have front-facing cameras right at the top corner of the screen. At the same time, the S10 has two lenses at once.

As mentioned above, the Galaxy S10 received a design with thin bezels, so with the same diagonal as in the S9, it became slightly more compact in height, but slightly increased in width. For comparison, the dimensions of the Galaxy S9 were 158.1 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm, while the S10 was 157.6 x 74.1 x 7.8 mm. The Galaxy S10 has a larger display, measuring 6.1 inches, while the S9 had 5.8 inches. But the dimensions of smartphones do not differ much, for the S10. 149.9 × 70.4×7.8 mm, for the S9. 147.7 × 68.7 × 8.5 mm.

But the most important thing is the changed weight of new products, they have become lighter. The Galaxy S10 weighs 175 grams versus 189 grams for the S9, while the S10 weighs 157 grams versus 163 grams for the S9.

The width of the frames in the new smartphones is not uniform, the glass is rounded on the sides and it seems that the display goes directly to the back of the case. But at the top and bottom of the screen, the frames are larger. At the top is the earpiece, and under the bottom is the display cable.

The back of the Galaxy S10 and S10 also received a number of changes compared to the flagships of the previous generation. In the new products, the camera unit is located horizontally, and since the fingerprint scanner has moved under the glass of the screen, it simply does not exist here.

The materials that Samsung used for the Galaxy S10 and S10 have already become traditional for the company’s flagships in recent years. From the front and back panels. it is glass that smoothly passes into the aluminum frame, rounded at the edges. There will also be a version with a ceramic back for the Galaxy S10.

Smartphones fit well in the hands, however, like their predecessors, because there are no significant changes in the geometry of the case.

The Galaxy S10e is Samsung’s junior flagship, as strange as it sounds. However, today’s realities of the smartphone market are such that companies have to come up with more affordable versions of their top-end devices, as for the latter have increased significantly over the past few years. Apple was the first to take such a step, presenting the iPhone XR, and now Samsung has decided to show its version of the “affordable flagship”.

In fact, as with the XR, the Galaxy S10e offers buyers a design similar to the top models, for example, it also uses a notch for the front camera in the display. But the case itself is different from the Galaxy S10 and S10, in the S10e the screen is not rounded at the sides, and the frames around it are larger.

Another important difference between the Galaxy S10e is that the fingerprint scanner in this model is not under the display glass, but on the right side.

In addition, on the back of the S10e there is a block of two rather than three cameras, as in the Galaxy S10 and S10, and it is worth noting that it looks neater.

Galaxy S10e measures 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9 mm and weighs 150 grams.

And although the design and capabilities of the Galaxy S10e differ from the top models of the company, fortunately, it did not skimp on materials. Like the S10 / S10, the smartphone is made of glass and aluminum.

But despite the fact that the Galaxy S10e is designed for a wider audience of buyers, in Ukraine the body colors will be the same as in the S10, although the presentation also showed versions in yellow, pink and blue. Perhaps such colors will appear on the Ukrainian market later.

At the same time, all three smartphones are protected from water and dust according to the IP68 standard, are equipped with a USB Type-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

Display

The Galaxy S10 is the largest smartphone in the lineup with a 6.4-inch display. The flagship uses a new Dynamic AMOLED matrix with a resolution of 3040 × 1440 pixels (438 ppi) and HDR10 support.

At the same time, the picture on the screen is very colorful, and the viewing angles are maximum. The cutout for the front camera subjectively does not affect the image quality in any way, even the backlight seems to be quite uniform.

At the same time, apparently, it will be easier to get used to the small “island” of the front camera on the display than to the notch, since the latter is more striking.

The Galaxy S10 uses the exact same screen with the same resolution, but the diagonal is smaller. 6.1 inches. And thanks to the thinner bezels, the model is smaller than last year’s Galaxy S9, while maintaining the same screen sizes.

The Galaxy S10e has the smallest of the three models, at 5.8 inches. The maximum resolution is also lower. 2280 × 1080 pixels, but the quality of the Dynamic AMOLED matrix is at the level of older versions. And given that the latter also use a resolution of 2280 × 1080 pixels by default, the main difference in displays between devices lies precisely in the diagonal.

Screens

In fact, we have practically equal matrices, which differ only in size. In this regard, the S10e is even better. the phone is more suitable for people who are tired of “shovels”.

  • Communication and connectors: Likewise, except for the scanner under the screen, here it is on the side, on the edge of the case

Battery and autonomy

The second difference between a smartphone is the battery. On the S10 there is a 3400 mAh battery, on the S10e. 3100 mAh, but since the screen is larger on the S10, it “eats” more energy, which slightly compensates for the difference in battery capacities.

Samsung Galaxy S10 vs Samsung Galaxy S10e

  • Time of communication in a 3G network: 21:19 h
  • Internet surfing time: 10:10 h
  • Video playback: 12:56 h
  • Charging speed with adapter included: 48% in 30 minutes; 100% in 1:42 h.
  • Wireless and reversible charging supported.
  • Time of communication in a 3G network: 20:42 h
  • Internet surfing time: 11:01
  • Video playback: 15:16
  • Charging speed with included adapter: 36% in 30 minutes.
  • Wireless and reversible charging supported.

So, the regular Galaxy S10 lasts longer during calls (when the screen is off), but in the mode of surfing the Internet and video playback, the battery drains faster than on the Galaxy S10e due to the larger diagonal of the display.

In terms of autonomy, the S10e wins with a minimum margin.

Cameras

The second difference is cameras. Both smartphones use the same sensors as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9, but the Samsung S10 also has a telephoto lens that the S10e lacks. This means that the S10 can shoot at 2x optical zoom without losing quality, which the S10e cannot.

If we talk about the quality of shooting with regular and wide-angle cameras, then there is no difference at all. Both phones received identical sensors, the same processors and, therefore, image processing algorithms.

Does it make sense to overpay? Compare Samsung S10 and S10e

South Korean giant Samsung has released a new series of flagships, which includes 3 smartphones: S10, S10 and S10e. The latest model is the cheapest, which dramatically increases its attractiveness. Does it make sense to take the new S10e or is it better to add money for a full-fledged S10?

S10e, S10, S10 Plus

Other differences

The Galaxy S10 has Gorilla Glass 6 on top, and Gorilla Glass 5 on the S10e. Also, the S10e is a compact and really handy smartphone with a fingerprint scanner on the side. The S10 cannot be classified as a “shovel”, but it still loses in terms of ergonomics. The S10 also received a fashionable fingerprint scanner under the matrix, which is considered to be a cool feature, but the S10e does not lose in this regard. Plus, this technology is still “raw”, so the Galaxy S10e recognizes prints faster and more accurately.

There are no other differences. the phones are equipped with the same hardware, so in terms of performance they are equal.

Samsung Galaxy S10

Galaxy S10 is the oldest model in this trio. It doesn’t differ in hardware from the S10 and has the same set of trump cards, but with a dual front camera, a larger screen and additional options in terms of design and storage capacity.

This is a large (still, there is a 6.4-inch AMOLED display), but relatively light for its size gadget. 175 grams. The regular S10 is even lighter, 157 grams. and, in my opinion, this is one of the important advantages of the series. The latest trends to make phones weighing more than 200 grams somehow did not please. now Samsung has made the opposite turn.

The curved display has a built-in dual front camera module. it sounds scarier than it looks. The S10 is visually perceived in about the same way as the S10 / S10e, that is, the double front camera did not significantly affect the look of the smartphone. But, most likely, it influenced the quality of the artificial blurring of the background: along with a 10-megapixel module, a camera is installed here. a depth sensor with a resolution of 8 megapixels. By the way, all Galaxy S10 front cameras are equipped with autofocus. a rarity by today’s standards.

In addition to the glass cases in the same colors as the Galaxy S10, there are two “premium” versions available. with ceramic cladding in black and white. It looks cool, but the most powerful is hidden inside. It is in the ceramic S10 that 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage are installed! Oh yes, it happened, we now have a terabyte phone from the A-brand. And it will be sold in Russia. while, however, it is not known at what price.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 has a battery with a capacity of 4100 mAh. you can count on a normal “lifespan”.

Samsung Galaxy S10

Samsung’s title flagship is the regular Galaxy S10. Using his example, I will tell you about the main features of this trinity, due to which the Koreans plan to win the battle for the wallets of fans of top smartphones.

Samsung did not bend, for this the company really wants to be respected. the widespread fashion for cutouts still bypassed it. It seems that the Koreans managed to sit on the shore until the moment when the corpse of this fashion floated by and found another solution to the frameless issue. It is not original, its smartphones with front cameras built into the corner of the screen were previously shown by the same Huawei (for example, the recent Honor View 20). In this case, it’s not so important who is the first. it’s just that Samsung has got a really frameless smartphone. Due to the proprietary curved display and a minimal chin, the company managed to achieve, perhaps, a record ratio of display areas to the surface of a smartphone.

The Galaxy S10 looks very cool. “Hole”, “hole”, “peephole”. it takes a long time to come up with allegorical terms for the front camera sticking out right on the screen, but for some reason I don’t want to do it. Unlike the cutout, this solution does not seem like a scam. The smartphone looks harmonious and neat. The side faces are lined with aluminum, the back cover is made of glass, and to the extent of soiled. The design of the Galaxy S10 does not turn into a “pumpkin” right after you pick up your smartphone. It seems that it is quite possible to wear it without a cover and not suffer from the sight of a mercilessly stained back.

General contours have not changed in comparison with the appearance of the Galaxy S8 / S9. it is still the same moderately “square” smartphone with a horizontal arrangement of the camera unit.

Samsung Galaxy S10 vs S10e | Side-by-side comparison

Another point that Samsung has the right to be proud of is the good old combination of a mini-jack and the claimed IP68 waterproof rating. I don’t even know in which direction the stone is. the vicious fashion set by Apple has already been picked up by everyone except Sony.

There will be four color variations: green, white, black and blue. The latter, however, will not reach Russia.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 has a 6.1-inch Quad HD AMOLED display that is HDR10 certified. We will definitely measure its settings and performance during full testing, but there is every reason to expect that this is the best mobile screen at the moment (along with the one installed in the S10), here Samsung is not losing ground yet.

An ultrasonic fingerprint reader is built right into the display. it feels very good, perhaps the best on the market too. It works on touch with a wet finger, reacts to touch quickly, almost like a traditional capacitive. But more serious conclusions can only be drawn after a full test. The brand new Galaxy S retina scanner was missing. there is simply nowhere to put it. All that remains is the usual face recognition using the front camera.

The camera, of course, is also updated. the Galaxy S10 (and S10) has a triple module. Together with the main camera, taken, obviously, from the S9 (12 megapixels, variable aperture ƒ / 1.5-2.4, viewing angle 77 degrees), two additional ones work: 12-megapixel, giving 2x optical zoom (45 degrees, lens with ƒ / 2.4 aperture), and 16-megapixel, giving a wider angle of view (lens with ƒ / 2.2 aperture, viewing angle 123 degrees). The optical stabilizer works with the main camera and telemodule, the wide-angle stabilizer is deprived. The “artificial brain” of the camera has improved. it can now detect 30 scenes, not 20 like the Note9 camera. Samsung also announces some kind of special digital stabilizer for video. while I did not have the opportunity to test it in practice, we will return to this in a full review of the Samsung Galaxy S10.

Front camera is single, with a resolution of 10 megapixels and aperture ratio ƒ / 1.9.

The hardware was, in fact, already known in advance. This is a Samsung Exynos 9820 platform with eight cores: two custom Samsungs clocked at 2.7 GHz, two ARM Cortex-A75s clocked at 2.3 GHz, and four ARM Cortex-A55s clocked at 1.9 GHz. Graphics subsystem. ARM Mali-G76 M12. The Exynos 9820’s net graphics performance is 40% higher than the Exynos 9810, while power consumption is 35% lower. Samsung announced the use of a vapor chamber for cooling and additional system optimization for the Unity engine, which is used in a huge number of mobile games. The system is manufactured using an 8nm process technology and is equipped with a neurocomputing module, which no serious hardware platform for a smartphone can do without today.

RAM in the Galaxy S10. no alternative 8 GB, non-volatile. 128 or 512 GB, as in the Galaxy Note9. If you wish, you can expand it using a microSD card. There will be no 512 GB version in Russia.

The built-in LTE-Advanced Pro Cat.20 modem supports aggregation of up to 8 carriers and allows you to achieve data download speeds up to 2 Gbps and transfer rates up to 150 Mbps. Samsung especially emphasizes the capabilities of the Galaxy S10 when working with Wi-Fi: seamless switching between networks, and work with the 802.11ax standard, and even up to 20% speed increase in the usual ranges are declared.

Wireless Charger for Samsung Galaxy

The battery in the Galaxy S10 is not very capacious, at 3400 mAh. At the same time, not only fast wired charging is promised, but also the second version of fast wireless (and a proprietary induction charger is demonstrated). And yes, the Samsung Galaxy S10 can charge other gadgets wirelessly. first of all, this is useful for the branded Galaxy Buds wireless headphones, presented simultaneously with smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Wireless Headphones

The headphones will go on sale in April at a price of 9,990 rubles in three colors: in addition to yellow, there will also be black and white versions. Everything is as it should be: a plug-in design (headphones weigh 4.9 grams each), a charging case (weighs 39.6 grams), and a chic feature. the ability to charge headphones by simply putting them in a case on a smartphone. Here, Samsung still managed to get ahead of Huawei, which did not manage to release Freebuds with this function before the release of the Mate 20 Pro. On a single charge, the earbuds should work for 5-6 hours, and they charge for 1.7 hours of work (do not ask why exactly so much) in 15 minutes right in the case. It provides up to seven additional hours of autonomous operation. They were created jointly with AKG (which belongs to Samsung as part of HARMAN).

Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 and S10e first impressions: Three Kingdoms

For Samsung, this will be another difficult year. the company’s position in the smartphone market no longer looks so unshakable. Yes, Apple is in a state resembling a crisis of ideas, but the Chinese with Huawei at the head are pushing too hard. A fresh Galaxy S could calm fans of the brand and show the strength of the most technologically advanced. until recently. company in the phone segment. It turned out, in my opinion, controversial.

Samsung presented three smartphones of the series at once (perhaps this word would be appropriate here) S10. in addition to the title one, this is the already familiar S10 with a larger screen and a newcomer, S10e. with a smaller screen and a simpler rear camera. They received SoC Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 as a heart, AMOLED displays (for the two older ones. curved), a front camera inserted directly into the screen, an on-screen fingerprint scanner (in S10 and S10), a camera with an extended viewing angle (on two older ones, and a third. with a 2x optical zoom) and the ability not only to quickly recharge without wires, but also to charge other gadgets in the same way. Doesn’t it look like anything? Yes, the main features of the Galaxy S10, minus the front camera built into the screen, coincide with the key features of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Such reactivity of Samsung is surprising. earlier the Korean company, if it paid attention to anyone, it was only Apple.

Nevertheless, despite a certain secondary nature, fresh Galaxy looks powerful and interesting, so let’s talk about them in order.

Samsung Galaxy S10e

The Galaxy S10e is a variant of the flagship smartphone for those who are still drawn to relatively compact formats: the S10e has a 5.8-inch display. The resolution, respectively, is also lower than that of the two older Galaxy S. Full HD, and there are no bends closer to the edges.

In addition to the flat display, the S10e also received a slightly thicker body (7.9 mm versus 7.8 mm for the S10 and S10), but due to the combination of these points, it seems noticeably more “bellied”. And even if this is an illusion, it affects the perception of a smartphone. Next to the S10 and S10, it looks not just a smaller version, but a simpler version. a kind of iPhone XR in Korean.

This analogy is emphasized by the complementary color scheme (in addition to green, black and white). bright yellow. It, unlike blue, should be available in Russia.

The camera in the Samsung Galaxy S10e is not triple, but double, and the smartphone has lost not a fresh wide-angle module, as one might expect, but a portrait.

The S10e’s on-screen fingerprint scanner is also missing. a capacitive one is installed here, but not on the rear panel, as you might expect, but on the side. It is built into the power key, which is why it looks different from the button on the S10 and S10. A small area of contact with a finger is almost guaranteed to affect the quality of recognition and the percentage of successful responses.

Hardware Samsung Galaxy S10e is similar to the two older models. with Exynos 9820 for all markets except the US (where all Galaxy is presented with Qualcomm Snapdragon 955). There are options for the amount of RAM. in addition to the standard version with 8 GB of RAM, a version with 6 GB is also available. Drive. 128 or 256 GB. There will be no 256 GB version in Russia.

The battery, of course, is also smaller. at 3100 mAh.

  • 68,990 rubles for the version of the Galaxy S10 and 76,990 rubles for the Galaxy S10 in the colors onyx (black), aquamarine (green), mother of pearl (white);
  • 56,990 rubles for the Samsung Galaxy S10e in the colors “onyx”, “aquamarine”, “mother of pearl” and “citrus” (yellow);
  • 124,990 rubles for Samsung Galaxy S10 models in black and white ceramic casing with 1 TB of internal memory and 12 GB of RAM.

Cameras: 3, 4 and 5 cameras for S10e, S10 and s10 respectively

Single camera cutout is virtually unobtrusive

The Galaxy S10 and S10e have the same front-facing cameras. Each received a single module with a resolution of 10 MP, autofocus, shooting in 4K and an aperture of f / 1.9.

For them, there is a small round cutout in the upper right corner of each of these smartphones.

In addition to this module, the Galaxy S10 received a special 8MP portrait lens. It measures the depth of space to take pictures with background blur.

This smartphone in the upper right corner is not a round, but an oval cutout, in which two holes fit.

It’s good that the company managed to preserve the touch layer above the cameras, so devices respond to gestures on it.

A whole set of main cameras

Galaxy S10 and S10 have three main cameras.

First 12MP f / 1.5-2.4 variable aperture module, wide-angle with 77-degree field of view.

Second 16 MP module with f / 2.2 aperture, it is ultra wide-angle with 123-degree field of view.

The third module is 12 MP, this is a telephoto lens, which is needed to simulate optical zoom and create portrait shots.

Galaxy S10e does not have a telephoto camera, the rest of the cameras are no different.

Conclusion: the S10e does not have a telephoto lens for optical zoom and portraits, but the S10 has an additional front camera for blurring the background in selfies.

Design: Galaxy S10e can be found in a bright yellow casing

The colors of the new Samsung flagships for every taste

The Galaxy S10 and S10 come in three primary colors: Mother of Pearl (white), Onyx (black), and Aquamarine (green). Premium versions of the latter are also available in white and black ceramics.

In addition to the three base colors, the Galaxy S10e has a Citrus-yellow body.

Galaxy S10e: 142.2 x 69.9 x 7.9mm and 150 grams.

Galaxy S10: 149.9 x 70.4 x 7.8mm and 157g.

Galaxy S10: 157.6 x 74.1 x 7.8mm and 175g.

The ceramic version of the S10 weighs 198 grams.

In addition to the main connector on the case of each of the devices, you can find a 3.5-audio output, which many have long considered obsolete.

All devices are protected from moisture according to the IP68 standard. But the protection against scratches is different: the S10e uses less technological Gorilla Glass 5 instead of Gorilla Glass 6 in older models.

Conclusion: with the release of the new Galaxy line, Samsung has successfully occupied three niches: compact, standard for 2019 and large flagships.

Biometrics: S10e didn’t get an under-screen finger scanner

Fingerprint scanner under the screen

The entire Galaxy S10 lineup can recognize you by sight with the front camera. However, this authentication method is difficult to call secure, and it is not so difficult to deceive it.

To maximize the protection of the data on your device, it is best to use a fingerprint scanner.

On the Galaxy S10 and S10, the fingerprint scanner works with ultrasound. It is located at the bottom under the screen and should work even if you use it with dirty hands.

It’s a shame, but the S10e has a more primitive capacitive sensor. It sits on the side of the smartphone and is virtually indistinguishable from the one used on the back of the Galaxy S9.

However, the S10e has an edge in this regard. The fact is that the ultrasonic module almost does not work when using protective glasses, so it will be possible to stick only a film on the S10 and S10 screens.

Conclusion: S10 and S10 finger scanner under the screen, S10e on the side.

How the Samsung Galaxy S10 differs from the Galaxy S10 and S10e

Since March 1, new Samsung flagships are already on sale in Russia: a regular Galaxy S10, an enlarged S10, as well as a relatively inexpensive S10e.

On the one hand, all devices in the new line are very similar. On the other hand, they differ in price and feature set. We decided to find out which one is right for you.

Screens: Galaxy S10 and S10 differ only in size

Screens for every taste

In the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10, and S10e, Samsung uses Super AMOLED displays. They support the Always-on display function, which makes it possible to show important information on the screen even in an inactive state.

The screens of the new flagships have a marketing name, Dynamic AMOLED.

The company says these are the most innovative displays ever to be found in a mobile device. No wonder, because she makes them herself.

Prior to the Galaxy S10 line, the company was against any cutouts in flagship screens. This set it apart from its competitors. But now each device has a hole for the front camera, which is cut with a laser.

The screens of the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 and S10e are called frameless. At the same time, an asymmetrically large lower frame or “chin” immediately catches the eye. Too bad even Samsung couldn’t handle it.

Galaxy S10 with 6.4-inch screen

Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 and S10e screens differ in size and resolution.

The S10 has a 6.1-inch screen, curved on both sides with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels and a density of 550 PPI.

The S10 has a 6.4-inch double-curved screen with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels and a density of 522 PPI.

The S10e has a 5.8-inch flat screen with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels and a density of 438 PPI.

The latter also has wider bezels that put it in place of the iPhone XR next to the iPhone XS.

Conclusion: S10 and S10 screens differ only in size, s10e has wider bezels and lower resolution.

Performance: The Drives Are Most Differences

S10e in theory could be the fastest

The hearts of the Samsung Galaxy S10 from the Galaxy S10 and S10e are the same Exynos 9820 or Snapdragon 855 processors, which are used in the United States.

The main models in the lineup received 8 GB of RAM, the only exception was the ceramic version of the S10 with 12 GB of RAM.

Since the S10e has a lower screen resolution, we can conclude that it should work much faster than its older brothers in the line. However, this remains to be verified.

The gadgets are available with different built-in memory options:

Galaxy S10e is available in 128GB or 256GB variants.

Galaxy S10 is sold in 128 and 512 GB storage.

Galaxy S10 can be taken with memory of 128, 512 and 1024 GB.

Galaxy S10 vs S10e. Long Term Honest Comparison

All devices support microSD memory cards up to 512 GB, so the memory of the top device can be downloaded up to 1.5 TB.

All devices are equipped with USB-C, work with wireless charging and can charge other gadgets that support the Qi standard.

The S10e has a 3100 mAh battery.

The s10 fits 3400 mAh.

S10 4100mAh battery.

Conclusion: oddly enough, in the future, the S10e may turn out to be faster than the s10 and s10 due to the lower screen resolution.

The devices are different in terms of positioning and cost. The S10e will be chosen by a younger audience, the s10 will be sorted out by business customers, and the s10 will be chosen by geeks who want the most.

Samsung even managed to break into the Luhari segment with a ceramic device.

If you want an Android smartphone from a top brand, go for either one. Each of them is worthy of attention and is suitable for the role of the main smartphone.

What do they have in common

Before talking about the differences, let’s talk about what is common in all three smartphones.

From external parameters, the main feature of the displays is the front camera built into the matrix.

This is not a new or unique solution, and it seems that in 2019 we will see many more smartphones like the one with the “monobrow” trend set by Apple.

Now manufacturers are gradually moving away from it to a teardrop notch, and there are even the first steps to a notch inside the matrix itself.

All three models have the same Samsung Exynos 9820 processors. This is an eight-core CPU with a maximum frequency of 2.8 GHz.

At least the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will also be available with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, the S10e is unknown, but the appearance of such a modification is possible.

Also, all three smartphones use two identical main camera modules and one front camera module. The main is a wide-angle sensor with a variable aperture from f / 1.5 to f / 2.4 and an ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 123-degree angle of view.

The first module is used as the main one in almost all situations, and its variable aperture is able to adjust to the light level. it opens in low light and closes in good light. The module has an optical image stabilization function.

A wide-angle sensor is needed for landscape photography or group shots. As for the front camera, it is the same in all models. at 10 MP with an aperture of f / 1.9.

Regardless of the cost, you get fast Wi-Fi of the next generation, stereo speakers and the ability to wirelessly charge other devices that support the Qi standard. Supports wireless charging of the smartphone itself and fast charging by wire.

Differences

The main difference is the size of smartphones and the diagonal of the displays.

The youngest S10e is the smallest in the flagship trio, with a diagonal of 5.8 inches. The second largest is the S10, its screen is already bigger. 6.1 inches.

And finally, the Galaxy S10 Plus with a 6.4-inch large display. The last two smartphones have the same resolution of 3040×1440, but, accordingly, different point density.

In older models, the screen with curved edges on the sides, unlike the S10e, and the frames themselves are noticeably thinner than in the younger model.

The approach to the security of user data is somewhat different. The Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus use an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built right into the screen, while the S10e has the scanner located in the power button on the right.

The configurations of RAM and permanent memory are also different. The Galaxy S10e comes in 6/128 GB and 8/512 GB versions of RAM and storage, respectively. In the S10, the amount of RAM is one. 8 GB, and a permanent 128 or 512 GB to choose from.

In the Galaxy S10 Plus, Samsung has already sold out in earnest: instead of the standard 8 GB of RAM, there is as much as 12 GB of it. We will not even try to imagine why such a volume is in a smartphone, but those who want to get the most out of a smartphone will be satisfied. There is also a lot of permanent memory: 128, 512 and 1 TB! Yes, a whole 1000 GB in a smartphone.

And even with such volumes, all three smartphones support memory expansion using microSD cards up to 512 GB.

There are not many differences in the cameras, but in the S10 and S10 Plus there is a third module. a telephoto lens, which is responsible for the optical zoom function. The S10 Plus also has a second 8MP front camera for background blur.

And the main difference between all three smartphones is the volume of the battery. The S10e, as the smallest, has a 3100 mAh battery, the S10 already has a larger 3400, and the largest Galaxy S10 Plus with a significant 4100 mAh battery.

How Samsung Galaxy S10, S10 Plus and S10e differ

Of the five new smartphones. S10e, S10, S10 Plus, Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S10 5G. the latter two are more concept models that show what Samsung is capable of. They will go on sale in the second quarter of 2019 at best.

But the first three are designed for the mass market and will compete with flagship solutions from other manufacturers.

If you compare these three smartphones, it becomes clear that Samsung is following a strategy similar to Apple: it releases two fully equipped smartphones in two sizes and one relatively compact, cheaper, but with many similar features.

In the anniversary trio from Samsung dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy line, the Galaxy S10e takes the initial step, the main flagship is the S10, and the S10 Plus is designed for those who want to get the most of everything for their money: screen, memory and image quality.

Which smartphone to choose

If you need a compact and fast smartphone with the highest quality mobile camera, then first of all pay attention to the S10e. It has an excellent combination of price, quality and functionality, and thanks to a number of features in terms of communication, it will be relevant for a long time.

If the price is not an issue, then the Galaxy S10 is your option. It has a great three-camera mix, very thin bezels, modern looks, flagship performance and decent battery life.

Well, if you want a model with the maximum number of functions and capabilities that the smartphone industry can now offer, then the S10 Plus is an uncompromising option, especially in a modification with 12 GB of RAM and 1 TB of permanent memory.
