How much does Xiaomi redmi 8 weigh

So far, there are no deadlines or for Russia. At the presentation the following amounts were announced: the initial version 4/64 GB costs 179, 4/128 GB costs 199, and the most expensive version 6/128 GB. 219.

does, xiaomi, redmi

If we imagine that the Redmi 10 in Russia will cost about 14 000, in which case it will have to compete primarily with its own brethren.

For example, for 12,000 you can buy a Poco M3 with a plastic “skin-like” body on the old Snapdragon 662. Or take the same Redmi 9 for 11,000. a great option for that price. Or look at the Redmi Note 8 (2021) for 13,000, which has been “resurrected” and relaunched with MediaTek Helio G85 instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 665.

Design and ergonomics

Redmi 8 is a smartphone with a big 6.2-inch screen, but at the expense of a thin frame for its diagonal it is relatively compact. The ratio of the screen to the area of the front panel is 81%, which is an improvement over its predecessor with its 74%.

From the front, the novelty looks nice. the chin and teardrop-shaped cutout are smaller than in the Seven, but the manufacturer’s decision to remove the LED notification indicator and stick the Redmi logo on the bottom frame is incomprehensible to me. LED, by the way, is absent in the 8A, which seriously affects the usability of smartphones.

The key difference in the design of Redmi 8 and 8A is the body material. Both devices are made of plastic, but the 8A is made of matte, slightly embossed and rough material, while the 8 has glossy plastic. The attempt to imitate glass looks nice, but in terms of practicality Redmi 8 is significantly inferior to the younger model. Its body is more slippery and dirty, scratches and scuffs on the gloss are also more noticeable, forcing the phone to wear a case.

On the bottom end of the smartphone there is a speaker grill, the Type-C port and 3.5 mm audio jack. On top of the IR sensor to control home appliances, missing in the Redmi 8A. On the right side we find the standard combination of power button and volume rocker, which do not backlash and fairly pleasantly pressed.

Similar to the brand’s other budget-friendly devices, the Redmi 8 features a triple tray for two NanoSIMs and a MicroSD flash drive that accepts cards up to 512GB. The card slot is metal and has a rubber seal that prevents water from getting inside the case. The manufacturer announced a nanocoating P2i, which makes the smartphone resistant to splashing and light rain, but you can not submerge the device under water, it does not have any IP-rating.

Redmi 8A camera

At the presentation of 8A, which was held in India, a lot of attention was paid to its camera. The developers have claimed that it has a Sony IMX363 sensor, which is used in Google’s top-of-the-line Pixel 3 camerophone. Given the ability to install on the 8A Google Camera, which is optimized for this iron, many users immediately started talking about the unprecedented quality of pictures by the standards of the ultra-budget segment. But as it turned out, IMX363 got only smartphones for the Indian market, and in the rest of the world the device is equipped with a sensor IMX486.

There is also a second pitfall. the smartphone runs a 32-bit version of Android, while the latest versions of Google Camera with night mode are designed for 64-bit OS. I tested the 8A with Gcam version 3.1, it has no night mode, but the application itself works steadily and significantly improves photo quality, especially in low light conditions the difference is noticeable both in dynamic range and detail.

You can download examples of stills and video in their original quality in this archive (link). All pictures are duplicated on the stock and google camera, so you can clearly see the difference. Further in the text shows the photos taken with the standard application.

In good light the 8A takes pretty good pictures with nice color reproduction and enough detail for this class. Taking into account the price of the smartphone, the only problem is the dynamic range: in contrast scenes the sky often fades into a solid white spot, which helps to combat the HDR mode.

The quality of the photos deteriorates significantly when the shooting conditions get worse. The sharpness is reduced, contrast and color saturation is lost, and every now and then the automation tends to set a slow shutter speed, so that in artificial light the pictures often come out blurry. As already mentioned, all of the above problems are partially solved by Google Camera.

Despite the lack of a second camera, the 8A can shoot in portrait mode. It is not perfect here, of course, but sometimes gives a good blur even in low light.

The smartphone’s front camera also supports HDR and portrait mode, but the quality of selfies comes out frankly average.

By the standards of the ultra-budget segment 8A has a good multimedia speaker. It sounds clean enough and without distortion, even at maximum, but in terms of volume and surround sound speaker is noticeably inferior to more expensive smartphones of the company, the same Redmi Note 7. By the way, there is an option of self-cleaning speaker, when you activate it the phone makes a nasty squeaky sound for 30 seconds. It is too early to judge how effective it is.

The sound of the device in headphones is absolutely standard, for Qian25 earphones with an impedance of 32 ohms the volume reserve is enough. Paired with wireless Redmi AirDots / Honor Flypods no problems noted, both bundles work steadily. On codecs: only SBC and AAC managed to wind up, aptX, although present in the settings of the developer, when you connect the appropriate headphones is not activated.

Stuffing

The processor in the Redmi 8 is quite old, it is Qualcomm Snapdragon 439. And here Xiaomi has stepped on his own rake: it is accustomed to that novelties get fresh and bouncy iron, but not in this case.

Recall that the Redmi 7, introduced six months ago, had a more powerful chip Snapdragon 632. And there’s a downgrade? Why?!

According to the head of the Redmi brand Liu Weibing, the company took this step because the Snapdragon 439 is comparable in performance to the once popular Snapdragon 625 processor. It turns out, according to Redmi itself, that the new entry-level processor has caught up with the old “midget”. They say that customers care more about runtime than power reserve, which is why the Redmi 8 got the old rather than the new processor.

The phone comes in two variants: 3/32 or 4/64 GB of memory. In my opinion, it is worth paying more for the more expensive version with more memory, if you plan to play games on the phone, or more or less actively use it. If you do not have such ideas and you need a phone as a simple phone, news reader and an advanced calculator with a big screen. take the basic version.

In a long sitting in PUBG body warms up noticeably, lags frames. well, what do you want, the graphics Adreno 505 is weak. If anything, similar stuffing was in the budget Redmi 7A. It’s strange that Xiaomi decided to go the unpopular way and gave the more expensive model the simpler stuffing.

Redmi 7A review: a very budget Xiaomi

A few words about communication and communication with the world. Two SIM-cards, of course, in place, and in the phone this case is well thought out: with two SIM-cards you can put a memory card, you do not have to sacrifice something useful. However, it’s strange that even the more expensive Redmi Note 8 Pro doesn’t have a hybrid slot.

Navigation works briskly: put the phone in the cradle, start the car and go on a map with the help of “Yandex.Navigator”. LTE is flying, although keep in mind that the Chinese version does not support Band 7 and 20.

Review of Xiaomi Redmi 8: specifications, reviews and photos

Although Redmi is officially a full-fledged sub-brand, the smartphones of this organization will always be associated with the corporation Xiaomi. The seventh generation of available devices Redmi-line without any indices noticeably increased in size and became a de facto budget replacement for phablets Note. Continuation of the series keeps the status quo, but adds beauty to the already stylish gadgets. In addition, a serious lift and autonomy.

The appearance of the novelty has changed slightly. The body is still made of polycarbonate, its colors are presented in gradient shades. The photo module on the rear panel is double, its design has become more modern and beautiful, the diagonal frameless display. 6.22 inches. OGS-screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels has a minimum of teardrop-shaped cutout for a high-quality 16-megapixel front sensor, has a good margin of brightness and contrast. Unfortunately, it is still not possible to call the image detail high.

Specifications have deteriorated. The Snapdragon 439 processor, 3GB/4GB RAM and Adreno 505 video chip are responsible for the performance, noticeably inferior to the hardware in the previous model. Only thanks to the HD output the chip lets you enjoy modern games at medium graphics settings. 32/64gb of internal storage and a slot for microSD cards is also not going anywhere.

The main 12- and 2-megapixel cameras will delight the buyer better quality daytime and night photos, but you can tell the difference only in a direct comparison of pictures with the same in the predecessor. Battery capacity was 5000mAh, which is enough for about 10-12 hours of active screen time. Updated MIUI shell based on Android Pie, LTE and OTG once again convince us in the relevance and attractiveness of the device. But a noticeable reduction in gaming power the audience can not forgive.

Charging

The phone is heavy, but there is a rational reason for that: the case hides a 5000 mAh battery. So you don’t have to worry about battery life: even with active use, the charge lasts for a couple of days. If you use the phone occasionally, bought as a second or third device, then even get three or four days of work.

The best part is that the budget Redmi 8A charges via USB Type-C. It’s good to see micro-USB becoming a thing of the past at least at the end of 2019. It comes with a low-power charger for 10 watts, but Redmi 8A supports fast charging. So do not spare money and buy a power supply with Power Delivery 18W.

The device is packed in a stylish cardboard box, inside which you will find a charger with USB Type-C cable, a paper clip for removing the SIM-card, an instruction manual, a protective cover and a warranty card.

Because Redmi 8 belongs to the middle price segment the manufacturer decided to “pack” it in a plastic case. At the same time the designers were able to distinguish the device among similar models, making the surface of the body textured. This design is called Aura Mirror because its texture is reminiscent of sea waves. This ensures that fingerprints are completely invisible on the plastic, as well as providing a secure grip on the hands. The model is available in black, red and blue.

In the central upper part of the gadget is a decorative box that houses a dual photomodule with LED flash and fingerprint scanner. It makes a contrast with the main shade of the body, which gives the model originality.

A great solution was the application of nanocoating P2i, which protects the phone Xiaomi Redmi 8 from water splashes. Note that this does not mean that the device is completely sealed, so submerging it under water is not recommended.

Introduced Redmi 8: specifications and prices

Redmi 8. the new budget smartphone of the popular Chinese brand, presented officially on October 09, 2019. The novelty will please connoisseurs of autonomous smartphones. Redmi 8 is powered by a luxurious 5000 mAh battery, which is enough for a day of active work. Or even two, if you do not hang all day long in social networks and do not watch on a smartphone series in non-stop mode.

With the rest of the Xiaomi Redmi 8 specs are not as smooth as the power system. The price of the novelty also leaves a double impression. On the one hand, inexpensive, but a phone with an HD screen and a Snapdragon 439 processor should cost less. We’ll talk about the price at the end of the publication, but let’s start, as usual, with a look at the datasheet.

Note 8 Pro

Smartphone, which I personally would definitely recommend to buy. Even for gamers. The same chipset MediaTek Helio G90T in my case was not critical at all during heavy sawing in PUBG Mobile.

However, it is important to determine which chipset is more efficient. Benchmark figures come to the rescue:

Obviously the MediaTek solution is more powerful. Consequently, when choosing between the regular and Pro-version, it is better to settle for the latter. In addition, all users get a top-of-the-line 64 MP camera, the detail in pictures from which is higher than in most flagships.
