The batteries of the new iPhone 13. the official characteristics have been revealed

We’ve compiled a list of new iPhones with battery capacity specifications Apple has provided to the U.S. government. The calculation in mAh (mAh/mAh) is done using the formula: Capacity in Wh (Wh) 100 / Voltage 3.8-3.85 V (V).

Operating voltages specified for each iPhone 13 battery. find out what the fundamental difference is between 3.8V and 3.85V.

For each model of the iPhone 13 we did a separate review with a comparison against the iPhone 12 and iPhone 11. All information is regularly updated with new sources. disassembly guides and official publications.

In 2020, Apple did its best to launch four new iPhone models.

Tim Cook, stop! No need to stamp many different iPhones. Make two, but the normal ones!:)

Well, as long as Tim has not stopped, let’s figure out how long these very iPhones 12 hold a charge:

  • iPhone 12 mini. If you look at the battery capacity and the data that Apple indicates, the situation is quite normal (slightly better than the iPhone 8). However, to expect anything more (at this size) would be silly.
  • iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. These models have the same battery, hence they hold a charge plus or minus the same. Judging by the characteristics at the level of the iPhone 11 Pro.
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max. Biggest smartphone biggest battery capacity longest battery life. The iPhone 12 Pro Max lasts about as long as the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

By the way, here are the results of the iPhone 12 battery life test when playing video in “home conditions” (not the way Apple tests it).

To summarize: in comparison with the iPhone 11, the iPhone 12 has changed the design, improving the internals (processor, memory, etc.).д.), and the autonomy figures remained at the same level. Which, in itself, is not so bad:)

We know the exact battery capacity of iPhone XS, XS Max and XR

Remember how Apple tells us about the battery in the new iPhones? The internet has made its own meme out of this, since no one understands the cipher “an hour and a half longer than the previous iPhone“. But thanks to China’s strict certification requirements, the exact capacity of the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR is now known:

You can compare to a list of previous iPhone models, but that’s boring. Let’s take a better look at Apple’s capacity-to-fantasy ratio:

iPhone Model The real capacity Capacity according to Apple
iPhone XS Max 3174 mAh 1.5 hours longer than iPhone X
iPhone XS 2658 mAh 30 minutes longer than the iPhone X
iPhone XR 2942 mAh 1.5 hours longer than iPhone 8 Plus
iPhone X 2716 mAh 2 hours longer than iPhone 7
iPhone 8 Plus 2,675 mAh Same as iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 8 1821 mAh As long as the iPhone 7
iPhone 7 Plus 2,900 mAh 1 hour longer than the iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone 7 1960 mAh 2 hours longer than iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s Plus 2750 mAh
iPhone 6s 1715 mAh

I personally have not checked which iPhone has how much longer battery life, but I do not think that Apple cheated us. The fact is that each generation of “A” processors make not only more powerful, but also less power-consuming. the phone runs longer and faster.

The same goes for the rest of the smartphones. Take a look at the 2017 flagship’s battery life rating:

iPhone Battery Health Explained!

The 2017 flagships averaged 8 hours of battery life

Now compare it to 2016’s results:

2016 flagships average 7 hours of battery life

All smartphones added an average of 1 hour of battery life. It’s not surprising that Apple in its advertising campaign talks specifically about timing differences: not all users know what kind of “machi” they are and how it will help them in their daily use.

Still, if Apple has nothing to be embarrassed about, why not at least put a figure in the comparison chart? If another line appears in the “Battery” section, the average user will be neither cold nor hot from this. there is something there, well, okay. Good for geeks: no need to wait for certification from China.

How to find out the real (at the moment) battery capacity in the iPhone and iPad

Hello! There may be many reasons for you to check the remaining capacity of your iPhone or iPad battery. Such a need may arise out of simple curiosity: here I was, for example, wondering whether it is necessary to go and change the battery in his old iPhone 5S? Or it’s not so bad yet?

Also, such a procedure is very important when you buy a used device. Because the seller can simply deceive you by saying the battery holds exactly as long as it should. Or even to show usage statistics (which can easily be fudged), when in fact there is already lost half of the capacity. How to know the truth about the state of the battery is bad or not? No one is going to wait a few hours to check! There are easier and faster ways, and we’ll talk about them, let’s go!

Special Note. We get all the data about the battery for free, without breaking the device or other jailbreaking. Cool ? That’s not the word!

Why and Why Worn Batteries Slow Down iPhones

The tool appeared in iOS 10.2.1 for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE, as well as in iOS 11.2 for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (a substantial portion of devices)

Apple explained that this tool works by taking into account the device’s temperature, charge, level of wear and tear, and internal battery resistance. Thus, your device will slow down only if the presented characteristics require it. If the condition of your battery has deteriorated, and the indicators described above are not affected, then the device will not slow down.

You can check the condition of the battery using the following four ways, which we have described in detail below in the article. We advise you to think about protecting the display of iPhone 6 Plus, choosing a protective glass that suits your needs.

How to calibrate the iPhone battery

Lithium polymer batteries installed in Apple products need to be calibrated from time to time. The procedure is necessary to increase the capacity of the battery, correctly display the remaining energy and extend the time of operation without charging. It is especially important for owners of devices with worn out batteries.

Before you can calibrate your phone, you need to disable several features:

  • Geolocation. You need to go to Settings, then to Privacy, select “Geolocation Services” and disable them.
  • Updating content. You can disable it by going to “Settings”, then to “Basic”. There you need to check the box next to “Update content”.
  • Automatic uploads. In “Settings” you need to select “iTunes and App Store” and deactivate all programs in the “Automatic Downloads” list.
  • Display brightness. In the “Control item” you should reduce the brightness of the screen to a minimum.

This will help reduce the power consumption. Then you can calibrate it. The first step is to completely discharge the smartphone. You can do this by playing a long video on YouTube or playing a game. When the iPhone powers down, you need to wait for three hours. This will allow it to discharge completely.

The next step is a full charge. It is better to use the AC adapter, not the USB port. Once it is 100% charged, you need to keep charging it for another couple of hours.

Then you need to discharge the device again and wait a few hours after that. The last step is to charge the iPhone to 100%. After this calibration is completed. you can turn on all deactivated applications and functions.

Please note! The calibration will significantly increase the capacity of the battery.

Your iPhone’s battery has dropped a few percent

Bought iPhone battery was 100%. After a month (two, three, six, or a year), your battery life has dropped to 90-99%. It’s a defect? What to do now?

Percentage drop of maximum iPhone battery capacity (during usage) is absolutely adequate.

  • Quote from Apple: All rechargeable batteries are consumable components whose performance declines as they chemically age. You’re using an iPhone? Using! That’s when the battery gets “chemically aging”.
  • The battery health information in the iPhone Settings is not the final authority. You can get the most accurate information about the state of your battery only after Apple diagnostic.
  • Everyone uses it differently. Consequently, some may lose a few percent of the battery in a month, while others will not change anything.
many, iphone

In general: It’s perfectly normal for the iPhone’s battery capacity to drop during use. No need to worry that your month you “lost” 2%, and your friend’s none. It’s quite possible that next month it will be the opposite, and already a friend will start “googling” information about the disappearing percent of the maximum battery capacity of his iPhone:)

However, there is another option

How to check the number of battery charge cycles on your iPhone

Go to Settings → Privacy → Analytics and improvements.

Activate the “Share for iPhone and Watch” feature if you have it disabled.

Note that if you have previously disabled this feature, you will only be able to retrieve information about your iPhone’s battery level the next day. After all, it is this option that allows the device to collect specific information for subsequent sending it to Apple. Deactivated function simply does not allow to collect the necessary information. Only 24 hours after activation the device will save the technical data for analytics.

A page will open on which you should find the lines of the typical form log-aggregated-date-xxxxxx.ips. Obviously, the name contains the date when the log file was created. You’ll need the line with the most recent.

Scroll down about 2/3 of the document that opens (a little more than halfway through) and look up the word BatteryCycleCount in the text. The number directly below BatteryCycleCount in between the words integer is the exact number of charge-discharge cycles for your battery. In our case it is 259.

If you are unable to find the string BatteryCycleCount directly on your iPhone send this document to your computer, open it with Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on Mac. Using the search to find the text BatteryCycleCount is not difficult.
