How to find out the BIOS version

There are several ways to find out the BIOS version, but the easiest is to see the information about the system.

For issuing Windows 8 and 8.1 Enter Run on the Metro screen. Then press the Enter key, in the Run dialog box (execute) enter msinfo32 and click OK.

For Windows 10, enter MSINFO32 in the search bar and press the Enter key.

When displaying the User Access Control window (user access control), select Yes (yes).

BIOS update in systems running Windows

Open the web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and T. D.) and go to the www web page.Dell.COM/SUPPORT/DRIVERS.

If the screen is displayed on the IDentify Your Product (determination of the product), enter information from the service label or select Browse for a Product (product search) to find the product manually.

If the product is defined incorrectly, press View a Different Product (other product) and either enter information from the service mark, or manually search again.

Having selected the desired product, click on the Find it MySelf (find yourself) and scroll down the pages to the Refine Your Results section: (Clarify the search conditions). In the opening Category menu (category), select BIOS. This narrows the search and will allow you to view the results only in the BIOS category.

If more than one file is displayed in the list, click View Details (more) next to the newer BIOS version. Then click Important Information (important information).

Note. In some cases, you may need to install the previous version before the update to the latest version. This is usually indicated in the Important Information section (important information). You can find files of other BIOS versions for download by links on the https: // downloads web page.Dell.com.

To start downloading, click Download File (upload a file).

To complete the installation, follow the instructions on the screen, the system will be rebooted using the BIOS update.

The appearance of the screen above can vary depending on the version and type of system.

BIOS update in systems with Bitlocker

Attention! If BitLocker is not disconnected before the BIOS update starts, the BitLocker key will not be identified at the next restart of the system. You will be invited to enter the recovery key, and the system will request it at every restart.

Using a discharged battery

Another simple, but takes time, is that you need to defuse the laptop battery to a state when less than 10% of the charge remains.
