Apple Pencil (1st generation)

If you have an Apple Pencil (1st generation), you can use it with these iPad models:

  • Ipad Air (3rd generation)
  • Ipad mini (5th generation)
  • For iPad Pro with 12.9-inch (1st or 2nd generation)
  • Ipad Pro 10.5-inch
  • For iPad Pro with 9.7 inch
  • For iPad (6th generation)

Apple Pencil (2nd Generation)

If you have an Apple Pencil (2nd generation), you can use it with these iPad models:

  • For iPad Pro with 12.9-inch (3rd generation)
  • For iPad Pro with 11 inch

A pair of Apple Pencil (1st generation) from your iPad

If you have an Apple Pencil (1st generation), remove the cap and plug it into the Lightning connector on your iPad.

When you see the steam button, click on it.

After a pair of apple pencils, it will remain paired until you restart your iPad, turn on airplane mode, or pair with another iPad. Just a couple of times an Apple pencil when you are ready to use it.

If you have an Apple pencil (2nd generation), attach the Apple with a pencil to the magnetic connector on the side of the iPad Pro, on this:

Use Apple Pencil

Draw or sketch in application notes:

  1. Open Sheet Music.
  2. Click to start a new note.
  3. To draw, click. If you do not see, refresh your notes. Sketch, tap, then tap add sketch.
  4. Start your drawing or sketch. You can choose one of several drawing tools and colors, and switch to the eraser if you make a mistake. When you draw or sketch, you can tilt the Apple pencil in the shadow of the line and press firmly to darken the lines.

If you get closer to the edge of the screen with an Apple pencil, firmware does not activate the Control Center, the Notification Center, or multitasking. You can draw anywhere on the screen without interruption.

On Apple Pencil (2nd generation), you can double-tap the bottom of the apple with a pencil to quickly switch to the last tool you used. To change the settings, double-click, and select Settings Apple Pencil, and then choose between:

  • Switch between current tool and eraser
  • Switch between current tool and last used
  • Show color palette
  • From

Double tap only works in supported applications, like notes.

Charge your Apple Pencil (1st generation)

To charge Apple Pencil (1st generation), connect your desktop or laptop computer to the Lightning connector on your iPad. You can also charge it using the USB power adapter using the Apple Pencil Charging Adapter that came with your Apple Pencil. Apple pencil will charge quickly when connected to any power source.

Charge your Apple Pencil (2nd generation)

To charge Apple Pencil (2nd generation), 1 Ensure that the Bluetooth feature is enabled on your iPad. Then attach the pencil to the magnetic connector in the center of the right side of your iPad. 2

  2. If you are charging your Apple pencil (2nd generation) with the iPad Pro and your car’s automatic input device (key fob) nearby, an interference signal may prevent you from unlocking your car with the key fob. If this happens, you can simply move your device from the key fob or remove Apple’s pencil from the iPad Pro and store it separately. When the apple completes charging with a pencil, any interference received will stop.
