Copying Data From iPhone To iPhone

Backing up data to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch means that you will have a copy of your personal information that will come in handy if you replace, lose, or damage the device.

Computer Backup

  1. Connect the device to the computer. On a Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15, open the Finder app. On a Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14 or earlier, or on a Windows computer, open iTunes.
  2. If you are prompted to enter a password for the device or select this computer as trusted, follow the on-screen instructions. If you do not remember the password, read the help information.
  3. Locate the device on the computer. If the device does not appear on the computer, find out what actions should be performed.
  4. To save the data of the Health and Activity applications from the device or the Apple Watch, encrypt the backup: select the checkbox next to the option “Encrypt a copy of [device]” and set a well-remembered password. If you do not want to save the data of the Health and Activity applications, you can create an unencrypted copy. Just click “Back Up Now.”

Make a note of the password and save it in a safe place, since it is impossible to restore data from iTunes backup without this password.

  • At the end of the process, you can see if the backup completed successfully.
