Apple Watch won’t open apps and drain quickly on watchOS 7: what to do?

Version 7 of the iWatchOS operating system turned out to be not entirely successful. Against the backdrop of the success of its older sister iOS 14, the younger looks like a deprived relative. If we take into account that the OS was developed at the same time and tested in the same way, it seems that somewhere the engineers overlooked something, and watchOS 7 turned out to be crude and unfinished.

Not only did users of the 3 series iWatch complain about spontaneous reboots after updating the operating system, but the second wave of problems affected almost all Apple watch owners. Smart watch owners began to often complain on the forums about unstable systems, fast battery discharge and non-opening programs.

Reset iPhone User Preferences

  • Open the Settings menu.
  • Then go to the iCloud section.
  • Then select the “Backup” item. This is necessary in order to restore your data on the phone in the future.
  • Then you should go to the “Basic” Settings submenu.

After the above operation, the owner needs to pair with the watch again. In the “Watch” program, select the “Pair with another watch” command and follow the system prompts to make a connection. And then restore from backup if necessary.

How to Factory Reset iPhone

Apple Watch won’t open apps and runs out of power quickly on watchOS 7. What to do

The watchOS 7.0 update turned out to be not as stable and hassle-free as iOS 14. Despite the fact that Apple tested them in parallel with each other and obviously using the same methodology, introducing all the innovations gradually, something went wrong, and the operating the system for the smart watch still malfunctioned. It is good that only the owners of the Apple Watch 3 suffered from it (of course, this is bad, but it is good if the Honor, that much more users could suffer). But it was only a matter of time before the failure spread.

Notice that your Apple Watch isn’t performing well after updating to watchOS 7? You are not alone

Apple Watch owners of all generations. from Series 3 to Series 5. have complained about problems with the watch after the update. According to them, Apple Watch stopped opening the training history, activating the heart rate measurement tool and some regular applications. How to increase the autonomy of Apple Watch

Some Apple Watches live less on a single charge

But worst of all, many users of the device simply began to live less corny from charging. over, this affected both the Apple Watch itself and the iPhones connected to them. For some, the decrease in autonomy turned out to be very significant, while for others it was not, but, one way or another, very, very many lost their work time. The problem turned out to be so widespread that Apple could no longer ignore its presence and issued a special guide to action for users who encountered it. We present only the most important.

How to restore iPhone from backup

You don’t need a computer to restore a backup

After you reset both devices, you’ll have to start with the iPhone. Reconfigure it using the last backup you saved before doing the hard reset. It may take a few minutes, but with a high-speed Wi-Fi connection, this can go very quickly. Then you need to reconnect Apple Watch to iPhone. To do this, go to the “Watch” application and select “Pair with another watch” or just bring them to your smartphone and wait until they see each other. Next, follow Apple’s instructions to establish a connection, and then restore the backup that you previously saved.

At first glance, all these manipulations seem too complicated and not worth doing. After all, as a rule, it is not possible to fix the failure by reboots and resetting the settings to the factory settings. Therefore, users no longer have faith in these methods. But in this case, Apple did not just give such advice on social networks, but issued a complete guide to action. So, if you are experiencing problems with your Apple Watch and iPhone after updating to watchOS 7, give it a try. in the end, you will return everything to its original state. The main thing is that the backup copy is saved.

Apps that don’t install or update instantly on iOS 5.1

I noticed a strange thing since iOS 5.1 update.

Almost none of the apps I buy or update install instantly. They are often left in “Waiting.” standby mode for several hours until they settle. I can stop the “Waiting.” process by uninstalling the application and trying to install it again, but it still waits for a while until it installs.

This has never happened before when applications were used to install right away. Is this normal in the new iOS version or is there something wrong?

I had the same problem after updating to iOS 5.1. Apart from the issues you mentioned, the music app got very slow after launch, taking up to 10 seconds to respond to my taps and touch gestures.

Since I couldn’t find an easy solution to the problem, I ended up restoring my iPhone to factory settings (it’s basically a clean install of iOS 5.1) and started. This fixed my problem.

Update: There seems to be a workaround:

If you are trying to install multiple iOS apps and your entire home screen is filled with app icons called “Waiting.” with no progress bars moving, downloading or installing, you can easily fix it in two ways below. Try the first method before going nuclear with reboot, though:

Tap one app icon so it says “Paused,” and then tap the app icon again to see if it resumes downloading. If pausing and resuming doesn’t work: Restart your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. You may notice a related issue, apps from the App Store will say they are “installing” even though they do not appear on the iOS home screen yet, which is also allowed on reboot.

It’s not entirely clear what is causing this, although it seems like a lot of people are running into the problem right now when moving from an old iPad to a new one. Perhaps Apple’s servers are simply overloaded with App Store downloads, or it could be a bug.

Power off your iOS device with a complete shutdown, then boot up again. This worked for me; my downloads will be reloaded and restarted.

Had the same problem. Try the usual one: reboot your iOS device, log out of the iStore and sync with iTunes, but nothing helped, then I found the following solution for “iOS apps” failed to purchase at this time “and delete downloads. sqlitedb helped.

Probably this problem appeared recently (possibly after iOS 5.1 update).

I think it has to do with the amount of free disk space left on my iPad with 3GB, if it doesn’t, and on my iPhone it does when I have a very large (1 to 1.7GB) app update.

Syncing iPhone to computer fixes the issue until next update. Freeing up some space seems to fix the problem until the iPhone clogs up again.

I found that putting my phone into airplane mode and then turning it off helps the next time I need to do it again after updating or installing an app. Mine also says that I have already purchased this app, please sync if I have any problems

Do you need to have a service? because my iPhone is not installing the update, it says I am not connected to the internet, but I!

Add the program to the antivirus exclusion list

The installer of your application can block the antivirus. Sometimes this is a sure sign that you do not need to install the program. But if you trust the developer one hundred percent, you can add the application to the list of exclusions, and the antivirus will not interfere with it.

Free up disk space

It is quite possible that you are not installing a new program or game simply because almost all the space on the system drive is already occupied. Use our guide and remove everything you can from the disk, and then try to install the program again.

Run the installer as administrator

Sometimes a program is blocked by the Windows 10 User Account Control (UAC) system. This is necessary to protect against potentially dangerous software. The Internet is full of guides on how to disable UAC, but we strongly advise against doing so.

Instead, close the installer, if it is open, right-click its file and select “Run as administrator” from the context menu.

Check your settings

Applications in Windows 10 are divided into two types: “classic”, with a familiar installer, and “modern” from the Microsoft Store. By default, Windows allows you to install both. But there is one option in the settings that disables the ability to run installers. Check it out just in case.

Click on “Start” → “Settings” → “Applications” → “Applications and Features” and make sure that “From anywhere” is selected in the drop-down list.

You should also open “Start” → “Settings” → “Update and Security” → “For Developers” and enable the option “Unpublished Applications”.

Check compatibility

Many programs have both 32-bit versions for older devices and 64-bit versions for modern ones. Those who use new computers have nothing to worry about. 64-bit Windows 10 can run 32-bit applications too.

But if you are the owner of an old computer and are not going to upgrade, you will have to pay attention to which installers you download. Make sure to only install 32-bit programs on 32-bit Windows.

Run the troubleshooter

Windows 10 has a built-in tool to fix some of the most common problems. It doesn’t always do what it should, but it’s still worth trying to run it.

Click Start → Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot. Then activate Windows Update, Windows Store Apps and Compatibility Troubleshooter one by one and let them do all the work.

If this does not help, download and open this tool from the Microsoft website as an administrator. He can also solve some problems.

Reboot your computer

This is the simplest and most obvious step that can be taken for any system problem. If the problem is temporary, then it can be fixed by a reboot.

It often happens that you accidentally opened several installers, and they interfere with each other. You can try to end them through the task manager or just reboot.

If the program you want won’t install on Windows: 9 tips

When the installer throws errors or does not start at all, try these simple steps.

Setting the time and date

As a rule, you don’t need to do anything here. autodetection works. If this did not happen, everything can be done manually:

  • enter the settings menu;
  • go to the “time and date” section;
  • specify year, month, day, hours and minutes.

When configuring these parameters, you should remember that the time on the gadget and smartphone must be the same.

As a rule, devices already come russified. But if this did not happen or you need to install the Ukrainian language, everything can be done through the settings (Settings). There you need to find the appropriate tab. Language. and give a command to select the desired language.

Many smartwatches, including the Apple 4 series model and the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active R500, are equipped with GPS modules. With their help, you can track not only where their owner is, but also how fast he is moving. Setting up geolocation in a smart watch is easy. To do this, find the appropriate section in the menu and allow the device to determine the location automatically.

Installing a SIM card and setting up communication

The location of the card slot may vary from model to model due to design features. Usually the SIM card slot is located on the side or under the battery. The second option is quite common in children’s smart watches.

Note: if the SIM does not work, you need to transfer it to your phone and recheck the above preparation details. If the watch does not see the SIM card, you should put it in again: it may not fit snugly into the slot.

Synchronization with a smartphone

Pairing your smart watch with your phone is required. Some well-known brands release devices that can only be friends with the gadgets of the same company. For example, this is a typical situation for Apple. Most often, device interaction is possible only if both the smartphone and the watch have an identical platform.

However, there are exceptions. Many Samsung Smart Watches support Android phones. Chinese-made gadgets are also not so capricious in this regard. They pair with a smartphone, regardless of the operating system it supports.

IPhone owners, for example, can sync Android smartwatches like the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active with Wear OS.

Usually, information with the name and version of the software required for the interaction of devices is indicated in the instructions. Many manufacturers also provide a link that allows you to download the software from the official website.

Important: to pair Apple Watch and iPhone, after the user puts the application on the phone and starts the watch, point the camera of the mobile phone at them. After that, the devices are synchronized automatically.

When everything is over, notifications and calls that come to the smartphone will be duplicated on the watch display. This gives the user the ability to:

  • See incoming calls and drop them.
  • View and reply to SMS.
  • Go online.
  • Some models support the function of listening to audio from the smartphone’s memory.
  • The GSM smartwatch supports the functions of answering incoming calls and making outgoing calls.

Note: If you set up auto-connect via Wi-Fi, the watch will connect to the network as soon as it is within its limits. But it should be borne in mind that this option drains the battery much more than Bluetooth.

Details on setting up a SIM card

The new SIM card must be activated by replenishing it with the required amount. It is better to disable the PIN-code lock: this way it will be more convenient to work with the watch. In some cases, you will need to call the number indicated in the starter package. To do this, you need to insert the card into your smartphone.

Preparation for configuration can be considered successfully completed.

How to install existing iPhone apps on Apple Watch

When setting up the Apple Watch, the user is prompted to automatically install any watch-compatible apps that the iPhone already has. If you skipped this step, or prefer to later choose which apps to install on your watch, here’s how to add apps to your Apple Watch.

Open the Watch app on the iPhone with which the Apple Watch is linked.

Scroll through the list of pre-installed Apple Watch apps to see a list of iPhone apps that are also compatible with the watch. Applications that are already on the watch will have an “Install” label opposite the name.

Click on the “Install” button. This action will install the application on the watch.

If you decide to uninstall this app, then always set the switch to Off. This will uninstall the app and will not appear on Apple Watch.

How to uninstall apps on Apple Watch

Branded (standard) applications on Apple Watch are installed automatically (just like on iPhone and iPad). Unfortunately, Apple prohibits their deletion, unlike the software installed by the user from the App Store.

Therefore, if you need to free up more space on the watch, you can only delete personal data and software.

How to uninstall an app directly on Apple Watch

You don’t need to pick up your iPhone if you want to uninstall an app from your Apple Watch. You can uninstall apps right on your watch the same way you uninstall apps from an iPhone.

Press the Digital Crown to open the Apple Watch home screen.

Press and hold the icon of the application you are about to uninstall until the icon starts to “wiggle”.

How to install or uninstall an app on Apple Watch

Apple Watch has gone far from being just a “smart” watch, it can become even more useful due to the ability to install applications. This device has a fairly varied and attractive design in the range, a clear dial and a sufficient number of pre-installed applications for a variety of purposes, ranging from tracking fitness to indicating the direction of travel.

But if you want to really get the most out of your watch, then add some new apps. They make the best use of the capabilities of the display, sensors and quick access to the device.

If you already have an Apple Watch compatible app on your iPhone, you can install it when you set up your watch. But what about finding new apps? In fact, this question is directly related to the iPhone, to which the watch is attached. Here’s what to do.

How to uninstall an app from Apple Watch using iPhone

Find the app you want to uninstall and click on it.

Turn off the Show on Apple Watch switch.

Make sure Wi-Fi is on

One of the fixes people have found is to turn on Wi-Fi right on the watch. Here’s how to do it:

Switch Wi-Fi on Apple Watch

  • On Apple Watch, swipe up from the bottom.
  • Tap the Wi-Fi logo in the upper left corner.

If Wi-Fi has been turned off, you need to press a button to turn it on. Once the connection is complete, you can go back to the Watch app on your iPhone to see if the apps are starting to install.

If Wi-Fi was already on, turn it off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This may fix some internet connection problems of your watch.

App Store on Apple Watch

App Store on Apple Watch

If you haven’t played with this before, here’s how you can find the App Store:

  • Press the digital crown on Apple Watch to go to the home screen.
  • Find and tap App Store icon.

Obviously it’s not as complete as the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, but still useful. There’s even a search function at the top where you can either dictate or scribble the app you’re looking for. Then you can download them and they will be automatically installed on both Apple Watch and iPhone.

Remove and reinstall

After doing a hard reboot on your watch and iPhone, there is another fairly obvious solution to get it up and running. But there is one setting that needs to be enabled for this to work. Automatic Downloads. This is what works on your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch and allows you to install the same apps across all your compatible devices.

Here’s how to turn on auto-download for your Apple Watch:

  • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Scroll down and select App Store.
  • Switch Automatic Downloads to Position.

Enabling this setting ensures that new apps downloaded to your iPhone are automatically downloaded to your Apple Watch at the same time. The only caveat is that the app being installed must have some type of Watch function for this to work.

Once you’ve enabled automatic downloads, you’ll want to remove the problematic app (or apps) from your iPhone. When they finish uninstalling, go to the App Store on your iPhone and reinstall them. Now that auto download is enabled, the app should automatically install on your Apple Watch at the same time.

Can’t install apps on Apple Watch? How to fix

Apple has acknowledged that the watch needs more love in terms of overall functionality and has released some great updates. This became even more evident with the release of watchOS 6 in late 2019. Along with Activity Trends and other health integrations, Apple finally brings the App Store to your Apple Watch.

Hard reset watch and iPhone

Technical support professionals know that one of the easiest ways to get users to work again is to “turn it off and on again.” Well, in that case, instead of completely shutting down your devices, you’ll want to hard reset your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Hard restart iPhone:

  • Quickly press and release the volume up button.
  • Quickly press and release the volume down button.
  • Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.
  • When the logo appears, release the side button.

Hard restart your Apple Watch:

  • Press and hold the Side Button and Digital Crown.
  • Hold these buttons until the Apple logo appears.
  • When the logo appears, release the Side Button and Digital Crown.

After your watch and iPhone have been restarted, try installing the apps again. We recommend that you first try to install from your iPhone using the Watch app and then try downloading it from the App Store on your watch if that doesn’t work.

Install one at a time

If this is your first time setting up your Apple Watch, you might be interested in installing all the available apps on your watch. But it can actually cause a slight freeze, causing many of these spinning boot circles to remain on your screen and nothing will be installed.

Instead of hitting multiple Install buttons at once, browse the list and select one app to install on your watch at a time. This prevents overloading your Apple Watch with too many requests at the same time. Despite the fact that the computer on your wrist is powerful, there are still some basic limitations, and it does not always work as fast as our iPhone or iPad.

How to install apps from the Watch app

Even though Apple introduced the App Store on the watch, users still have the “old” way to install apps on the watch. This is done from the Watch app and shows all the available apps that are already installed on your iPhone, which also have the Watch app.

  • Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
  • Click My Watch tab at the bottom.
  • Scroll down to Available Apps section.
  • Find the app you want to install.
  • Click Install on the right side.

It is important to keep your watch and iPhone nearby throughout the setup process. This ensures that the app installs as quickly as possible, as your iPhone streams the app directly to your watch where applicable.

Once the app is installed, it can be found under Installed on Apple Watch in the Watch app. This section also serves as a place where you can uninstall apps from your Apple Watch.

What to do if you can’t install apps on Apple Watch?

Having dedicated apps for the Apple Watch is just awesome, especially with something like WatchSmith, which provides additional customization options. However, if you use the secondary method of installing the app, people will have problems.

When completing Available Apps in the Watch app, you can tap the Install button to get more apps on your wrist. But in some cases, pressing this button results in a spinning icon with a stop icon in the middle, but it never stops spinning and never installs the app.

Mickey Mouse doesn’t tell time what to do?

The clock can sound the current time aloud after tapping on the screen, if there is a Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse dial. What to do if the mouse is silent?

Make sure Quiet Mode is disabled. Press and hold the bottom of the watch face. Wait for Control Center to open, then swipe up.

Open the Apple Watch app, go to the My Watch tab, and then click Sounds, Tactile Cues. Then make sure Time By Touch is enabled.

Does the animal still play in silence with us? Then let’s move the dial. Press hard on the screen, swipe up, then select “Delete”. Swipe left until the plus sign appears. add the dial again. Should help now.

IPhone battery drains in hours

Some users have had an issue with fast-draining iPhone batteries when using their Apple Watch. If it seems to you that the watch is literally “sucking” energy from the phone, open the “Battery” menu and check if the Watch app is in the first position in the “Battery usage” list.

Make sure Apple Watch and iPhone are connected via Bluetooth, as this type of connection uses the least amount of power.

Open the Watch app on your smartphone and turn off all unnecessary notifications.

Go to “Settings” “General” “Software Update” and check if iOS is updated on iPhone.

Open the Watch application on your smartphone and in the tab “My Watch” “General” “Software update” and check if the software for the watch is updated.

Open the Watch app on iPhone, select “My Watch” and pair with it. Reconfigure devices after the operation is complete.

Restoring your watch to its factory settings (and deleting all content from it along the way) sometimes solves the problem of excess power consumption. Select Settings General Reset Erase All Content and Settings. Upon completion, you will have to reconfigure the watch connections with other devices.

Not included

Sometimes Apple Watch won’t turn on and the screen won’t respond to touch. The reasons can be different, and it is rather difficult to cope with this problem.

If you have turned on the power saving mode, the watch will not respond to lifting or pressing the screen. Press the side button and check if the watch turns on.

Charge your watch. The battery may have been completely discharged.

Press the Side Button and Digital Crown together to force a restart. Hold for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

If, after restarting, the watch turns on, but a red exclamation mark appears on the screen and you cannot use it, then this is a hardware error, which you cannot correct in any way. Contact Apple Support.

No notifications appear

Usually, you see notifications on the smartphone screen, but only until it is locked. Otherwise, notifications will be sent to the watch, but if they are not there, then most likely the watch is also locked or the Do Not Disturb mode is enabled.

If you have set a password for the watch (via a smartphone), then it will automatically lock when not worn on your hand, as well as when you lose contact with the skin and when charging. Remove the password, or tighten the strap. Forgot your password? You will have to reset your watch settings completely. To do this, launch the Watch application on your smartphone, select the menu items “My watch” “General” “Reset” “Erase all content and settings”. In cases where the watch was not connected to the smartphone, you need to use this instruction.

Sometimes the reason for not receiving notifications is Do Not Disturb mode, which is displayed on the screen with a crescent moon icon. In the watch’s Settings menu, select the crescent moon icon and press it to turn off the mode.

Not updated

Some users were unable to update their watch to the latest watchOS. The problem is so common that Apple has issued official instructions.

Restart the watch, but not forcibly (without holding down the Digital Crown). Reboot your watch-linked iPhone. Try updating your watch software again via your smartphone.

If the installation does not start and does not load, select the Watch application on your smartphone, select the menu “My watch” “General” “Use” “Software”, delete the update file and try to download and install it again.

Are too slow

A large number of users complained about the slow operation of the device. There are several ways to improve its performance.

First, make sure the software on your Apple Watch and paired iPhone is up to date.

Break the pair “watch. smartphone” and recreate it.

Performance slows down when there are too many apps installed on Apple Watch. Open the Watch app on your smartphone, go to the My Watch menu and scroll down to see installed programs. Click on the name of the app you don’t want and turn off Show on Apple Watch.

The presented list of problems and problems, of course, is far from complete. For more rare and exotic problems, contact Apple technical support (on a weekday and preferably not on Monday). Or, alternatively, pay attention to “smart” watches on Android: there are more of them, they are cheaper, and are now compatible with iOS.

Bluetooth frequently disconnects or cannot pair at all

There are several reasons for this problem. Some users have found that their Apple Watch disconnects from their iPhone even when both devices are close to each other. Others have Bluetooth issues when trying to use wireless headphones while exercising or running. There are several things you can do to get the link to work.

Solutions for non-working headphones:

Range is critical for Bluetooth and varies between wireless devices. On the Apple support forum, they write that communication was restored when both problem devices were on the same side of the body. That is, it is worth, for example, putting on the watch on a different wrist. This slight change in radius shouldn’t really change anything, but you can try. It is possible that the human body interferes with the propagation of the signal

If streaming music to headphones is causing the problem, simply sync your playlist with your smartwatch and turn off Bluetooth on your iPhone.

  • We call the Watch application on the iPhone;
  • Tap on the item Music;

Turn the watch on and off. Hold the side button on the watch until the slider appears, then drag the switch to the off position. Press the button again and hold until the Apple lights up on the screen to turn the watch back on.

To restore the connection, you can try to break the pair between the smartphone and the watch. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to the My Watch tab, select the device you want, and press the exclamation mark button. Wait for the operation to complete, and then create a pair again through the already open watch application on your smartphone.

The last way is to factory reset your Apple Watch. Go to the watch menu “Settings” “General” “Reset” “Erase content and settings”. After that, you will have to reconfigure the connection to the iPhone and other devices.

Freeze and crash

There have been several reports that the Apple Watch is randomly turned off or does not respond to requests (“crash” and “freeze”). To keep your watch from freezing, here’s what you can try.

Try turning off your watch by holding down the side button and sliding the switch to the right. Press the button until the Apple logo appears to turn it on. Chances are, a reboot will only help temporarily.

If your watch is unresponsive, try holding the side button with the Digital Crown for 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

Open the Watch application on your smartphone, go to the “My Watch” “General” “Software Update” tab and check if you need to update.

Falls can be caused by a specific application. If you notice a connection between frequent use of a particular application and unstable operation of the device, uninstall this program. Open the Watch application on your smartphone, select the problematic program and turn off its display in the watch.

Sometimes, a hard reset can help sort out these issues. In the watch, select Settings, General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings. After that, you will have to re-configure the clock.
