If a red exclamation mark is displayed

If a red exclamation mark or “not delivered” is displayed next to the message, click this message to try to resend the message. If the message still does not send, try the steps below.

Unable to send or receive messages

After each step, try again to receive or send a message on the Apple Watch.

Check the settings in the Control Center

If the “Do Not Disturb” or “Airplane Mode” icons are visible on the dial, you must disable these settings in the Control Center.

Press and hold the bottom edge of the dial, wait until the Control Center appears, then swipe up. Click the highlighted Do Not Disturb and Airplane icons to disable these options.

Connection check

Make sure your Apple Watch can connect to your iPhone, cellular network, or Wi-Fi network. To send and receive SMS / MMS on Apple Watch models with cellular communication), the paired iPhone must be turned on and connected to a Wi-Fi network or a cellular network, but it does not have to be located in an access zone.

To receive and send iMessage messages, the Apple Watch must be connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network, while the iPhone device may not be connected to the network or turned off altogether.

Try to send a message from iPhone

Sign out of iMessage

Select “Settings” “Messages” “Sending / receiving”. Click the Apple ID and select Sign Out.

Then go to the “Settings” “Messages”. Turn the iMessage service off and on again.

Log in to iMessage again

Go to Settings “Messages” “Sending / receiving” “Your Apple ID for iMessage,” then sign in.
