How to set up and manage your new AirPods Pro
The new AirPods Pro are more open to customization than regular AirPods, thanks to the pressure sensors built into each earbud. In this article, we will teach you how to control your new AirPods Pro to switch music, control calls, activate noise canceling, and more.
This time, Apple has added a pressure sensor to each earbud. They essentially turn the surface of the earbuds into a multitasking button.
The sensors let you control your music and calls, and switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparent mode. Below we will tell you how to use them.
How to use AirPods Pro controls
As we wrote above, using the built-in pressure sensors in AirPods Pro, you can pause and skip tracks, answer calls, and more.
- Press: Start, pause, answer a call.
- Double tap: Switch track forward.
- Triple press: Switch track back.
- Long Hold: Toggle between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparent Mode.
You can also say “Hey Siri” and ask your personal assistant to play a specific song / album / playlist, call someone, show you the way, etc.
This is not the only way to control your headphones. You can switch between Noise Canceling and Transparent mode using the volume slider in Control Center.

How to activate Siri instead of noise canceling
You can set Siri to activate instead of holding the headphone noise canceling control.
1) Open the Settings app on your device with iOS 13.2 or later.
2) Select the Bluetooth section from the main list.
3) Click the “i” icon next to your AirPods Pro.
4) Select Left or Right under the heading Press and hold AirPods.
5) Now select Siri to activate the personal assistant by pinching the headphones.
Selecting available modes
You can not only choose a name for your headphones and customize how they respond to taps. You can also select modes between which you can switch by pressing the headphones.
1) Open the Settings app on your device with iOS 13.2 or later.
2) Select the Bluetooth section from the main list.
3) Click the “i” icon next to your AirPods Pro.
4) Select Left or Right under the heading Press and hold AirPods.
5) Select Noise Control.
6) Select the modes between which the headphones will switch:
- Noise cancellation: Active noise cancellation blocks extraneous sounds from the outside.
- Permeability: Transparent mode allows you to listen to music and still hear some of the sounds around you.
- Off: This option disables both modes.
That’s all. Now, while holding the headphones, you will switch between the selected modes.
You can set Siri to activate by pressing the left earbud, and switch modes by pressing the right.
