8 Unique Iphone X Features Not Found On Any Iphone
The iPhone X (pronouncing iPhone Ten correctly, not iPhone X) is a giant leap forward in the smartphone world. The device received a completely new design and a number of innovative technologies.
Despite the fact that some of the basic functions of the iPhone X are the same as those of its “younger brothers” iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, the smartphone boasts many new unique features that are nowhere else.
The cost of the entry-level iPhone X is 79,990 ply for a model with 64 GB of memory.
So, below we will consider the features that only the iPhone X has.
Super Retina OLED Display
iPhone X is the first iPhone to receive an AMOLED display. The screen size is 5.8 inches, the resolution is 2436 × 1125 pixels, and the pixel density is 458 ppi.
The point here is not only in the number of pixels, but also in quality. The device’s screen supports HDR (including Dolby Vision HDR), which means it can display bright, vibrant colors and the smallest details that are invisible on conventional displays. The display contrast of the iPhone X is 1,000,000: 1, while that of the iPhone 8 is 1,400: 1.
Surgical Stainless Steel
iPhone X is the first Apple smartphone, the case of which is made using surgical stainless steel.
The iPhone X no longer has a Touch ID, and user authentication is performed using the Face ID facial recognition system. The system is a camera and a sensor located in a recess on the top of the iPhone X. Face ID is a very complex technology and is based on the TrueDepth camera system.
TrueDepth consists of a Point Projector, an infrared camera and an infrared emitter that detects a face. When the user looks at the screen of the locked iPhone, an infrared emitter detects and illuminates the face. Then the infrared camera creates its IR image, and the Projector of points with the help of more than 30 thousand infrared points collects a model of the face.
An infrared image and a point model are sent via neural networks to the new A11 Bionic processor to create a mathematical template. The resulting template is then mapped to the iPhone owner’s face image set during Face ID setup.
All data is stored in Secure Enclave, which makes it useless in case of loss or theft of the device. The recognition process takes place locally on the iPhone, and no data is sent to the server.
It is noteworthy that Face ID only works when the user purposefully looks at the screen of the iPhone X.
The Cupertinians also tried to make it impossible to deceive the system with the help of a photograph, or even a well-made volume mask.
Selfie portrait mode
Thanks to the TrueDepth camera sensor, the front camera in the iPhone X also allows you to shoot in Portrait mode. The selfie camera in the top-end “apple” smartphone is a 7-megapixel module with support for portrait lighting, which allows you to change the backlight in the background if you wish.
Both cameras of the iPhone X (front and main) are capable of shooting with the effect of Portrait lighting, when, as in the iPhone 8 Plus, only the main camera allows it.
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are equipped with the good old front-facing FaceTime HD camera.
Advanced dual-camera optical image stabilization and f / 2.4 aperture
The iPhone X has a slightly better main camera than the iPhone 8 Plus. The device received 12-megapixel modules (with aperture f / 1.8 and f / 2.4) with a dual optical image stabilization system. That’s right, in the iPhone X both lenses of the main camera support the optical image stabilization system. From now on, close-ups and photographs taken in poor lighting will be less grainy.
In the iPhone 8 Plus, the telephoto aperture is still smaller. f / 2.8.
Apple has added about ten new animated emojis that can change their facial expressions to suit yours. True, they work only in the Messages application. You can take a picture or shoot a with you as an animated emoji and add sound.
The Home button on the iPhone X is missing. This means that many familiar operations, from unlocking to using Apple Pay, will now be done differently.
- Unlock smartphone: To unlock, simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
- Open home screen: If you’re in the app, swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
- Multitasking Panel: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause for a moment in the middle.
- Recent open apps: Swipe to the side on the bottom of the screen.
- Control point: Swipe down from the right notch (the battery and signal strength indicators are located in it).
- Siri: Press and hold the side button.
Of course, the advanced battery is not the most outstanding improvement. However, with a relatively small size (when compared with the iPhone 8 Plus), the battery of the iPhone X lasts up to two hours longer compared to the iPhone 7.
